Reviews for Hoshidekan

Review 1:If we can reduce the use of disposable supplies, so much the better

Review 2:Hotel has a lot of antique, especially the table for breakfast, there are three antique lacquer table is very advanced. Hotel everywhere inside the flower arrangement, interesting details. And for the compact has ancient spring sound.

Review 3:The owner and staff are very nice. A great plus, especially in rural Japan, is that the owner speaks a good English. He even had a brochure of the local highlights in German for me. The Japanese Garden at the Inn is great! I really loved the "water music".

Review 4:It's about 10 minute walk from the train station, in the opposite direction from the Ise Grand Shrine.

Review 5:beautiful place, and such nice treatment of the host who gave us a little tour. The atmosphere of the place, in combination of the hospitality of our host made this a very special experience. The place was also quiet, it felt we were the only guests, although this was probably not true. we only stayed one night, we should have stayed longer. Our room was quite spacious, and beautifully decorated. facilities are very clean.

Review 6:Rooms do not have sinks, toilets, showers, or baths. I like the shared bathing (Japanese style) but would really have liked a sink and toilet in my room.

Review 7:The building itself is very interesting, unique, and charming. The hosts try hard to be very nice.

Review 8:Stairs were quite steep. Bath was steel tub (misled by photos). No restaurants near by (eat on site unless you have car). Breakfast was good but not outstanding.

Review 9:Traditional Japanese building, with narrow passage ways, and interior garden. Fun to roam the building. Staff was friendly. Parking near by. Interesting neighborhood for walking.

Review 10:An incredibly beautiful building with excellent traditional facilities. Very clean. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had 2 adjoining rooms for 4 people, completely private although bathroom facilities were shared.

Review 11:Fantastic little gem within a short walk of JR railway station, the friendliest host ever, beautiful old building, hot bath, huge breakfast, quirky features like the water feature that plays musical notes through bamboo pipes, a wind up gramophones, and a huge bridge over the indoor garden. Not the cheapest place but you get what you pay for. Fabulous!

Review 12:I Couldn't have a tub bath in the morning (about 9.00). A bit far from the station and the shrines.

Review 13:It has everything you expected from a Japanese home place.

Review 14:there was a big kitchen in the house and with a little bother, there could have been even a little breakfast, simple, but nothing. It was expensive compared to guesthouses and quite weird to tell a client, that you can have breakfast in another hotel nearby. why??? I was already in a hotel!!! next time I would book that hotel with breakfast, the price is almost the same. sorry to say.

Review 15:the style of the house

Review 16:The English-speaking host was extremely friendly and hospitable. He helped us to clean our luggage when we arrived during a typhoon night and correctly pointed to us a restaurant that was still opened for dinner. On the day we departed, we were asked what our next destination was during breakfast. And when we returned after sightseeing to pick up our luggage, he handed to us a map of our next destination. A very nice experience of staying in such a traditional house.

Review 17:The attention to detail and warmth the staff puts in the way they treat guests, really makes one feel like staying at some friends house. The place is clean and full of history, history that if you ask the staff, they will be more than happy to share with you. I felt very privileged having stayed at such a beautiful place.

Review 18:very helpful staff, very welcoming and beatiful but still cozy atmosphere best ryokan in regards to value for money!

Review 33:Very good stay:)

Review 34:I live in Japan but was still very impressed with the historical charm of this circa 1910 ryokan. The spotless family bath was much appreciated. There is also an amazing take out sushi restaurant across the street. It was a dreamy stay!

Review 35:The place is real close to Ujiyamada rail station and 15min walk to Geku shrine (you can get bus from there to Naiku, if not feeling like walking for an hour). Staying there was great- quiet premise and welcome atmosphere. Air-conditioner to cool hot summer nights. Best breakfast I had in Japan! I wish I could have stayed longer.

Review 36:I would have liked to have been able to choose an ever so slightly later breakfast. Sleeping in isn't really an option if you're eating at the inn. For anyone who is not used to sleeping on futons, they might be uncomfortable.

Review 37:For those looking to experience a traditional inn, this is a wonderful place to stay - even for those on a budget. The atmosphere is lovely, the building and gardens are gorgeous, and unlike other properties in Japan, the inn is incredibly easy to find. Breakfast was very good!

Review 38:For an authentic experience this is the place to go. The decor is very traditional Japanese in style, the bathroom is a wetroom with a wooden bath and the rooms have tatami mats and futons. The service was wonderful and the breakfast delicious (rice, miso soup, fish etc). We stayed in January so it was quiet.

Review 39:Nothing special to point out.

Review 40:The staff and the welcoming were really nice. It was good to be in the living room listening to the old graphonole: I went back to times that no longer exist... The ryokan experience, the garden, the baths, all was great!

Review 41:No complaints.

Review 42:It's wonderful glimpse into a more traditional way of Japanese life. The inn is an easy walk to one of the Ise shrines and charming shoppingstreets. Would also recommend one of the upscale bathhouses a short walkaway. My kids loved it. (They are 12 yrs old).

Review 43:Nothing really.

Review 44:This ryokan is a gem. Everything is as promised and expected. Very, veryfriendly owners! Location is very good. Building is old and thus cosy.

Review 45:The building us amazing from the outside, but the garden courtyard is absolutely stunning. NHK was actually filming the the night I stayed. I opted for breakfast, and I was not disappointed. It was a great Japanese style meal and I left full.

Review 46:The house is a traditional Japanese house, it's beautiful. The hostare very nice and helpful, always having a brochure or a map to give youfor the place you wanna visit.

Review 47:Very heartful hosts in a real ryokan. The host family helped to get deeper into the culture of Japan.

Review 48:Very noisy from both outside (street with continuous heavy trafic, also during the night) and other rooms.

Review 49:Kind owner, clean nice facility

Review 50:The stuffs are kind.

Review 51:"family-style" ofuro

Review 52:There is a beautiful courtyard garden with sliding glass doors and a bridge on the upper level. Very traditional, original-condition inn.

Review 53:The noisy road and the rattling of doors early in the morning.

Review 54:Japanese style accommodation. Friendly welcome.
