Reviews for Ostello San Filippo Neri

Review 1:The only thing they could invest a bit of money is the kitchen. There are a lack of cutlery, plates, cups, etc. Tea towls could be replaced more frequently or replaced by new ones.

Review 2:I stayed in a 3 bed shared female room. The room was big and everyone had their own bed light and huge lockable wardrobe. Each room had their separate toilet and shower. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Review 3:(1) most of the toilets and shower rooms are closed, you have to try to open them, if you can (2) no soup, no shampoo, no towel for taking a shower....o, they have all these but charge for extra money, 0.50-1.00 euro whatever (3) no hanger in the shower room. Basically you need to put everything on the ground (4) one of the stuffs was a bit stupid, first, she didn't find a pen, so I gave her my medal pen (an important gift from a friend) and she used the SIDE of the pen point to write on the paper, hardly.....almost gonna destroy the pen.....my God, then when I bought a cake in the bar and paid....after 5 mins, she asked me if I paid the cake or not? (5) and she didn't explain me how to use all these keys....eventually it turns out that one of the key is used to close/open the toliet or shower room......(how could I know?) (6) the amazing energy-saving technology allows the bathroom to turn off the lights automatically, per each 30 seconds. It means the light will turn off even you are taking a shower. Basically you need to wave your hands toward the light, and "manually" turn it on. Don't use bathroom No.4, try bathroom No.1 coz it is better. (6) the unprofessional stuff didn't ask for the city tax ...

Review 4:The location is nice to the city center (academic of military) and also very close to train station. It seems like a professional hostel, but has many problems They also have a nice bar running by this hostel. You can enjoy cake, donuts, cafe and so on....of course, you need to pay, even for your breakfast.

Review 5:The location is really convinience, the room equips with minumum furnuture, and the badroom is clean (it locates outside, on the same floor, but only you and your roommates can open it.) It's well worth for the price.

Review 6:Not much to be picky about for a hostel! ;)

Review 7:Located on a nice and quiet street, very close to both the station and the city centre, convenient for getting out and about. Bathroom is indeed 'private', which ensures the hygiene, but is actually separate from the room.

Review 8:It was too noisy till the midnight coming from the students of the school at the next door or somebody sitting at the kitchen.Management has to stop or make a rule for this kind problem otherwise hostel would be perfect place.

Review 9:there are very serious issues here about fire safety. the fire escape fire doors are regularly being wedged open with chairs etc . I am a professional building engineer and assure you this is very very dangerous . I asked the manager to stop this under threat of reporting to the council . please check fire escape before your stay

Review 10:good location but see what I did not like .Sorry but there are very very important lessons to learn at this property . how can it possibly be value for money

Review 11:Everything was excellent except they did not have an iron. Although it is understandable why they might not accommodate for that, it will be nice to add that value to their customers.

Review 12:Very great place and staff. I had a great time and rest

Review 13:I found the bed to be very uncomfortable. And cleaning away the remnants of the swatted mosquitoes on the wall next to the bed would've been nice.

Review 14:A budget, no frills place to stay in Modena. For the very cheap price you can't expect much more.

Review 15:Ilenia and Alice were really nice and helpfull. Specially Ilenia because she could speak fluent Spanish and it was better when it came to direction around Modena. Overall...great experience! Would recommend and would personally go back :)

Review 16:That you have to leave at 10 to 2 for them to clean but I understand.

Review 17:Good price, great location close to train station, shops and restaurants. The staff very nice.Everyone speaks English and are helpful.Cost for room is low.

Review 18:No airco, only a fan. The room was very hot due to outside temperature. Staff had limited knowledge of English.

Review 19:Lots of facilities: washing machine, well equipped kitchen, seating area outside. Good location near centre. Free parking in street if you put paper provided by the hostel.

Review 20:Bed was really soft. Located in what seemed like a student center--more suitable to young travelers. Was fine for a night.

Review 21:Rooms we're large, bathroom was clean, convenient location.

Review 22:Sheets on bed didn't seem completely clean.

Review 23:We only stayed one night because we were just passing through Modena. Room and bathroom were clean and I like that each room had a bathroom to itself, although the bathroom wasn't in the same room. Location was easy to walk to from the train station.

Review 24:Looks like a hostel from 80's, it is so basic. There are so many nice hostels around the world and this one offers you traveling back in time offering rugged conditions, metal beds, tiles on the floor, locked wordrobe and nothing else. Like a prison (but without TV and bathroom in your ward)

Review 25:close to the railway station

Review 26:Stayed for 1 night at Hostel San Filippo Neri in a twin room with a shared bathroom. The shared bathroom turned out to actually be a private bathroom as they are all located in a block down the corridor which you get an individual key for to use. The location literally couldn't be any better. 5-10 minutes walk from Modena train station and a 10 minute walk to the centre. Also a 5 minute walk from Stadio Alberto Braglia (Home of Modena FC) if you're a football fan and want to go watch a match while there. The room was basic but didn't go expecting anything more. There were cupboards in the room which you could lock with a key so could put valuables in there which was useful. Wifi was ok, a little temperamental sometimes but worked most of the time. Don't have any complaints or negative comments to make, if you want somewhere to stay for 1 or 2 nights then I recommend Hostel San Filippo Neri.

Review 27:Too much of large families presence and noise. Broken locker.

Review 28:Enormous opportunities in kitchen to cook for yourself, all facilities. Bathrooms linked to concrete rooms.

Review 29:Bath and toilet outside

Review 30:the bicycle was broken)

Review 31:Staff - very friendly girls, who told all about the city the ability to take a bicycle very beautiful city

Review 32:Super helpful staff. Facilities were great. Train station is close by.

Review 33:Neat .. Value for money

Review 34:Fan is very ineffective on a hot and humid night.

Review 35:Good location and super cheap, but this means very basic facilities. Fine for one night.

Review 36:No breakfast.

Review 37:Close to train station and the city center.

Review 38:Only downside was no free wifi

Review 39:the location was good for the station and access to city centre. The shower was amazing!!!

Review 40:nothing really

Review 41:position and staff

Review 42:i was alone in a triple room..got my own key for bathroom

Review 46:nice helpful staff

Review 47:Bathroom was cold and not clean, smelling bad.

Review 48:Location ! Near to the train station and 10 min walking to the center

Review 49:The receptionist was very polite. The location was very good because it was close to the center! very cheap and clear!

Review 50:Kitchen

Review 51:NOTHING

Review 52:VERY WELL ORGANISED HOSTEL

Review 53:some bugs bite us in night noise of AC from outside below the average level of EU hostels external bathroom

Review 54:The apartment was a very convenience. Staff were pleasant and very helpful. I recommend this hostel for couples with children.

Review 55:no wi-fi in the room!

Review 56:helpful staff, convenient location

Review 57:Wifi connection was not really good. I couldn't use most of the time.

Review 58:A free bike and good kitchen facilities

Review 59:Fairly perfunctory check-in, sterile atmosphere, wifi only in common room, no character to hostel.

Review 60:Clean rooms, big lockers, and close to train station.

Review 61:Having to share one toilet and shower with my two roommates. If the bathroom is not ensuite, which it wasn't, I prefer the community bathroom where I can choose any empty shower or toilet stall.

Review 62:great location, rooms were big, liked the big closet that I could lock. It was a fairly quiet hostel, two big community rooms, nice big kitchen.

Review 63:The woman from the staff is very helpful!
