Reviews for Agriturismo Il Cucchiaio di Legno

Review 1:A little far from the center, but drive over to the main parking, and walk to the center. Food was interesting, but not as good as others had said.

Review 2:Room had a loft, worked great for teenage daughter. Dinner, sampler was extensive, many different things, all good. Pace yourself, as the food just keeps coming.

Review 3:Breakfast was a lovely experience - there was an amazing choice and the cakes were different each day! The staff work very hard and want to ensure that you enjoy your stay.

Review 4:The location is not very attractive, no view of the lake and right next to the railway line.

Review 5:A very comfortable hotel and the restaurant food is outstanding and very good value.

Review 6:Bed was a bit spongy, but that could be due to the fact that we are morbidly obese.

Review 7:New modern building. Very tastefully decorated. Extremely friendly & helpful staff. Great information given in handout. Given a corkscrew on check in as wine left in dining room overnight. Nice surroundings.

Review 8:A bit close to the railway so you can trains passing by.

Review 9:The staff is very kine and helpful. The breakfast was with many different choices and tasteful.

Review 10:Everything was fantastic

Review 11:The agriturismo exceeds all expectations. The rooms are large, bright and airy with modern fixtures and spotlessly clean. We requested and got a downstairs room. The staff were friendly and helpful and all seemed to speak English. The breakfast was a huge buffet of both savoury and sweet items. Views from the room were lovely and the setting stunning

Review 12:Not a bad experience, but this location, as it is a rural one, comes with mosquitoes

Review 13:The food for breakfast and the special dinner were both really outstanding. The picnic basket lunch is awesome if you have the chance.

Review 14:A little isolated. Walking difficult as no footpaths. Many mosquitos. A pool would have been nice.

Review 15:Lovely small family-run hotel with an excellent restaurant attached.

Review 16:Extra pillows would be good.

Review 17:Spacious, homey rooms. Breakfast absolutely superb. Unlimited filtered water. Tea & coffee making facilities. Great location for doing walks directly from hotel. Free parking & wifi. Restaurant next door absolutely fantastic.

Review 18:We loved Il Cucchiaio, the staff are young and enthusiastic, the place is beautiful, the rooms are everything you could want and the surroundings are peaceful. The buffet breakfast is different every day, all home cooked/produced and delicious. Its a 20 minute walk into Orta or a short drive to the car parks and a 5 minute walk. The restaurant is fabulous, some of the best food we ate on this trip.....don't miss it!!

Review 19:Kind members of team who go above and beyond Healthy and delicious homemade breakfasts that are locally sourced mostly from there land comfort very clean rooms Absolutely amazing food served in the restaurant NB there is no point eating anywhere else We liked having to walk into the town centre and having a car that can be parked easily

Review 20:Rooms are really big, well fitted and modern. Immaculately clean and really comfortable. Staff are extremely friendly. Getting married in August and all my family is staying here, they will love it. We are going to book again

Review 21:Not a problem for us, but people should be aware of the railway line between the garden and the lake which may cause difficulty to light sleepers.

Review 22:Friendly, attentive staff. Fabulous breakfasts, wonderful optional evening meals (Thursday to Sundays).

Review 23:Beds were a bit "soft" but this is the norm in Italy so nothing that deserves particular criticism.

Review 24:Dinner in associated restaurant is not to be missed: enormous portions and very good quality. Very warm and friendly staff.

Review 25:Location: minutes by car from lake ORTA SHORE Plenty of free parking at hotel Staff: the most hospitable and charming staff you will ever meet! The girls at reception are great -kind-helpful Rooms are very large and wide:;ultra modern-super comfortable beds-very nice balcony-big shower Breakfast: not plentyful but any dish you get is simply the best of the best Fresh home made bread-high quality cold cuts and farm cheeseshome made pastry and fresh cakes plenty of coffee choice Great farm yogurt and honey Dont miss a dinner at the near by family resturant next to hotel The best in ITALY!

Review 26:None at all.

Review 27:Very clean, great facilities. Jessica was great (very kind soul) - she upgraded our room for free, even drove us to the town centre on the first night. She also drove us (and our heavy luggage) to the train station on the day we left - thank you very much, grazie mille. Very good and warm hospitality - Jessica and her friends made us felt at home - very homely feeling. Really love our stay here and will definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an getaway and enjoy lago di Orta. This is a very charming lake region and relaxing place for all. The excellent filter water provided in the breakfast area is fantastic - very much welcome. I will definitely stay here again when I return. I think for international travelers - this place is great as all staff also speaks good English :)

Review 28:Friendly and helpful yet discreet staff No issues on late check-out Great location with lovely views and short walk to lake and town-centre Amazing breakfast - all fresh local produce - a treat Very comfortable rooms

Review 29:Everything was just perfect.

Review 30:From the minute we arrived everything was just perfect. the rooms are comfortable & spacious. The staff were very friendly , helpful & spoke perfect English. My old Labrador dog was well accepted. The breakfast was delicious. Our Christmas Luncheon was a veritable feast & a very happy & memorable occassion. We have already told all our friends what a lovely time we had & we will definately return in the not too distant future. Thank you.

Review 31:Located near railway line - but trains seemed to stop during the night and didn't restart til around 8am. Not intrusive, but would wake you if you are a lighter sleeper. No view from property and bit of a walk into Orta - not a problem for us, but if you had young children it might be a bit too far for them to walk, and parking is not particularly plentiful (we visited in October, so not height of tourist season but could imagine in summer parking could be difficult).

Review 32:Staff were friendly and very welcoming. The breakfast was superb - homemade cakes and pastries, meats and cheeses, home made bread, locally made yoghurt, quiche, eggs, home made jams, local honey - need I go on? We also dined in the restaurant and had the 'tasting menu'. Excellent value for money - for 25 euro per head we had antipasti, 2 primo piatti, 2 second piatti and choice of desserts. All home made - one of the best meals we had in Italy and we had been there for 6 months working so had eaten out a bit. Room was large and furnished in a modern way. Bathroom was good - unlike elsewhere in Europe the lighting was actually good enough to be able to see properly. Facilities to make hot drinks in room, plus water machine available.

Review 33:The location without a car may be a problem and the pillows weren't very good

Review 34:The room was clean, modern and spacious. The staff were young, enthusiastic and efficient. The breakfast was lovely, staff were accommodating providing us a highchair. I would highly recommend the restaurant, we felt the food and atmosphere were lovely. I would recommend to couple with young children, although the hotel is set on the hill a 20min walk from the main square we felt we got more space and value for money compared to the more central hotels. The hotel was good for children as the rooms were spacious (we stayed in a deluxe double), you had access to a microwave in the communal area and hot water, the garden was also nice for children with swings and rabbits!

Review 35:Everything: The staff, the rooms, and especially the breakfast. You have to go just for the breakfast. It was the best breakfast in Italy, with best meats and what's more important - the best cakes.

Review 36:1) WI-FI not working made it impossible to work and keep in touch with clients. 2) Very difficult parking, when place is somewhat busy. 3) Somewhat noisy.

Review 37:The staff was very good: attentive and well mannered. The cleanliness was very good.

Review 38:Incredible nice staff! First thing you receive is a bottle opener to drink wine on the balcony. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. The breakfast is amazing! We had a very great stay and the staff helped with taxi, iron, advice etc.

Review 39:Loved the little touches - a jug on arrival, to use at the water cooler...lovely breakfasts, staff who were helpful but not in your face at all. Really pleasant garden, loved the rabbits. Comfy bed and really relaxed atmosphere.

Review 40:Lovely couple of nights here, fabulous room, clean and bright. Excellent breakfast. Lovely walk from the hotel into Orta which retains all it's natural delights and isn't over touristy like some of the bigger lakes. The 7 course tasting menu is a must - superb!

Review 41:Helpful staff and wonderful food. Easy parking and very chilled. A little way out of town meant it was peaceful. Comfortable beds. No complaints at all and would thoroughly recommend it to others.

Review 42:The pedestrian road to the center is around 20/30m walk and can be an issue if you don't have a car.

Review 43:Really nice place to stay. Everything seems brand new and the food (breakfast and dinner) is made with amazing local products. Lake Orta is great and this is the place to stay!

Review 44:The pillows could be better!

Review 45:The food was amazing both restaurant and breakfast. Staff were just lovely and very helpful. The town is very beautiful too and lots of walks to do there.

Review 46:W-Lan was sometimes out and the cable tv was not easy to manage... but this is not a really problem if we want to relax. :-)

Review 47:The ambiance of this hotel and the facilities were great. The room was always very clean, the staff very friendly and to be feeling more near to the nature ist possible there. The self made dinner and also the breakfast were delicious and cooked with a lot of love!

Review 48:Staff were very friendly and the hotel had a great relaxing atmosphere. If you get the chance, you must eat at the restaurant owned by the family (it's right next to the Hotel). The food was out of this world :-)

Review 68:The food, the food, the food!

Review 69:The construction of the bed leaves to be desired.

Review 70:Beautiful house, all details in immaculate taste, breakfast spectacular, almost a work of art.

Review 71:The rooms are great, breakfast is very good and we had a great dinner in the agriturismo itself. Orta is a lovely Italian village.

Review 72:Train quite near, fortunately, the windows are high quality thus filtering most of the noise.

Review 73:Almost everything: Quality, friendliness, size, ...

Review 74:It was hot while we were there but the air conditioning was not switched on (comes on in June) so we had to have our patio door open. The room overlooks a railway line which was noisy during the night.

Review 75:Lovely attractive room, great staff, very good breakfast and facilities to make ourselves drinks. Excellent restaurant next door.

Review 76:a bit far from city center - 30-35 min on foot. on the other hand such walk is nice thing to do

Review 77:breakfast was just fantastic plus there was a coffe machine available the whole day. worth recommending is also local restaurant - a dinner is a must when you are staying there - exceptional value for money

Review 78:New modern rooms, very clean, nice touch of fresh home made foods at breakfast. Felt welcome. I would stay here again. I recommend dinner at their restaurant.

Review 79:Staff were absolutely lovely and very, very helpful. We had a deluxe room which had high ceilings, was spotlessly clean and very comfortable - large bathroom and a great shower too. We had a balcony which caught the sun in the afternoon, perfect for retiring to with a bottle of wine which can be purchased from the hotel. Breakfast was good and we felt that the staff had gone out of their way to make our stay comfortable. We had tea and coffee making facilities in the room, as well as a minibar/fridge which was really reasonable. The hotel is only a 20 minute walk from Orta San Guilio ( albeit uphill on the way back!) and a couple of minutes away by car. We will definitely go back..

Review 80:Train line at end of garden but didn't bother us.

Review 81:Quiet location in village atmosphere. Staff lovely and spoke good English. Room spacious and comfortable bed. Breakfast was good. Restaurant wasn't open when we were there.

Review 82:We struggled to find the placeb.. The sat nav placed us at least 500m away from the actual location, and we had to ask someone for directions.

Review 83:The building was very new so everything was clean and modern. The room was very clean, and the fridge was useful, although a little noisy. Lovely walk in shower. The terrace had comfortable chairs and a view of the garden. The evening meal was amazing, no choice, but lots of small tasting courses, with food that was homemade.
