Reviews for Locanda di Orta

Review 1:The room we choose on the first floor was very nice but unfortunately above the restaurant of the hotel so, pretty noisy at night...

Review 2:Location, nice staff, clean and comfortable room.

Review 3:The breakfast was sparse, once the trays of cheese and meats were empty they didn't get re-filled and you had to ask for more.

Review 4:Loved the location and was a typical Italian hotel with lots of character.

Review 5:Very funky hotel, in a nice location located just off the main square. all in very good condition. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Roof top restaurant was fantastic but expensive.

Review 6:No Airconditioning and no Fan available, as it was burning hot when we stayed there. It is very loud there.

Review 7:The hotel is in the city centre and 50 m from the lake. It is a beautiful little town. The breakfast was good and they also have an own restaurant

Review 8:Nothing major, but really could have done with tea/coffee making facilities.

Review 9:Room was clean, comfy bed, pleasant staff, room and building in general has plenty of character.

Review 10:The lack of aircon is a real issue in the middle of July. The fan kept the room cool enough when sleeping but getting ready was hard work. I can't imagine it would be much of an issue in cooler months.

Review 11:Perfect location, minutes from the multi story car park and seconds from the main square. The rooms were nice, clean & the shower was exceptional, large enough for two.

Review 12:My room didn't have air con, just a fan however I was not uncomfortable in the room considering it was July.

Review 13:Location, hot design and decoration, Bathroom was good size and modern.

Review 14:Although our room was small, it was carefully planned and had everything we required for a comfortable weekend. The staff were welcoming, friendly and professional. Breakfast was delicious and we were very sorry not to have had opportunity to dine on the roof terrace as we ran out of time. We did have friends who stayed longer and did dine on the terrace - they said it was a wonderful experience.

Review 15:The staff at the front desk need to be reminded they work in the hospitality industry, not the hostility industry.

Review 16:Location is good. Room was very clean.

Review 17:The ambiance of the property; the warmth it exuded; the friendliness; the welcome; the other interesting guests and most of all Emanuela's cooking! We were so fortunate that she cooked on 2 of our evenings!

Review 18:Room very small, but ok for our purposes (only two nights, small bag, no time spent in the room) No real lounge or other relax area Breakfast not that great

Review 19:Great central location for short stay in Orta Nice historic building Very good coffee Free Wifi in room

Review 20:The central location of this hotel makes it very desirable indeed. We stayed for 2 nights in a suite which was spacious and had the benefit of a snug balcony with a table and two chairs from where it was possible to watch life happening in the square below. Beautiful Lake Orta is just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. We would certainly stay again on any future visit.

Review 21:Car parking a distance away with a steep climb

Review 22:Great location for a short stay in a lovely town. Great VFM, all newly decorated to a very high modern standard

Review 23:It was not a problem for us, but probably there is missing 24h front desk reception and I have not seen any info about the "emergency"/just in case phone number. Also the music in the restaurant can be a bit better.

Review 24:the stuff reply for e mails within minutes, they are extremely flexible, provide info about parking, etc. no problem with gluten-free diet, special requests (like early departure/late arrival). Restaurant is high class, serves menu degustation, vine pairing etc. Prices are affordable. the place is super clean, Jacuzzi in the room works. We liked that the room was nicely heated for our arrival. Spacious, big bathroom.

Review 25:No parking at hotel so need to walk from car park (5 minutes), but as expected from the description.

Review 26:Right in the heart of the town, everything accessible on foot. Boutique style rooms, very comfortable.

Review 27:No view of the lake, even in the suite (but there is a lake view on the hotel pictures) ! No safe in the room and no normal safe in the whole hotel at all. The staff is not very useful. Wi-fi quality not so good. The TV is VERY small and the signal is not so good. Poor breakfast. One of the jams was rotten. No parking nearby (general area problem).

Review 28:Jacuzzi ! The hotel and the room looks pretty nice.

Review 29:We arrived late at night (midnight) due to our flight being delayed, and the staff seemed a little put out by this and weren't very helpful in getting us checked in. Likewise, they weren't hugely helpful when we enquired about the possibility of using an iron. However, service was otherwise good.

Review 30:Fantastic, boutique hotel with small but comfortable rooms, nice bathroom with a lovely shower and great value for money. The rooms were all very clean and the hotel is in the perfect location.

Review 31:Only negatives: very small room, paintwork was a bit scuffed/tired and corridors were noisy

Review 32:Great location right in the middle of orta. Staff very attentive. Fab bathroom..very high tech shower! A lot of effort has gone into the design. We will be back

Review 33:There wasn't anything that we didn't like. Wi fi was really good downstairs, but a problem in the room, although I had a fair bit of success sitting in front of the open window in our room.

Review 34:We liked our room. Even though our room was fairly small, it was stylish, & the bed was comfortable.the bathroom was very nice. The location of the hotel was really excellent. Elena was very nice & helpfull.

Review 35:Only criticism was that there were a flight of steps up to reception up which we had to carry our heavy cases.

Review 36:Was well positioned for the town centre. Rooms were small but comfortable. Landlady was very helpful and did her best to make us welcome. Orta itself is a very beautiful place and fully merited our nights stay.

Review 37:Breakfast is so poor. The staff could be more kindly and helpful. It's located an the very center of the town, if you go by car ... don't enter to the hotel by it, it's really so complicated ( so little streets ). Tho note have a parking 300 meters away, go direct there.

Review 38:Nice room ( we were at a suite ). Very centrical location. Quiet.

Review 39:The standard room is really compact and it was really stuffy with 2 people sleeping in there, without any room to unpack. We had to live out of our suitcases, with mine turned on its side so I didnt step on it every time I walked past the bed. There were ants in the room and bathroom and we were told this was normal due to the weather (there was a storm the night before) but I saw them on other occasions and it was offputting due to small room and having to have ant spray wafted around. There is a rooftop terrace advertised but you can only use this if you eat in the restaurant which we decided was a bit expensive and we didn't fancy anything off the menu. Any longer than 3 nights would have been intolerable and we are glad to be home in comfortable bed. If we go to Orta again, we will spend more and go to a guesthouse with views over the lake. I wouldnt spend more to stay in the suites at Locanda di Orta

Review 40:The location was good, quite sytlish room and bathroom. One member of staff was helpful in arranging a taxi to the airport.

Review 41:Wi-Fi connection was very weak in the rooms but good on the main floor. On the other side of this location issue, arrival was hampered by thedriving directions provided by gps. You definitely cannot drive intothis town during the day. Too narrow and crowded. Arrival and parkinginstructions need to be made more clear.

Review 42:The location was excellent. We were right in the heart of Orta SanGiulio. The breakfast and service were quite good.

Review 43:matress a bit too hard. Just a matter of taste

Review 44:Great place, will be back at some point

Review 45:Only lower level rooms available for booking.com customers. Staff not very friendly.

Review 46:Unfortunately the restaurant was closed (Tuesdays) which had been one of the attractions for us

Review 47:Lovely breakfast. A good quality version of the usual. Lift straight onto street.

Review 48:Our room was a little on the small side but suited our needs

Review 49:Great location, nicely decorated, good quality continental breakfast.

Review 50:Long walk to/from the public car park: must travel light! No airco, only fan (on request).

Review 51:Very clean.

Review 52:No air con, but there is a fan in the room which is sufficient

Review 53:Great location, friendly and helpful staff, lovely breakfast.

Review 54:The rooms are really quite compact...

Review 55:Rooms are compact but stylish. Epic dinner.

Review 56:Size of the room

Review 57:Location in the town

Review 58:Nothing

Review 59:Location

Review 60:nothing

Review 61:Great Boutique B and B in a wonderful place

Review 62:Distance from car parking

Review 63:The charm of the hotel and the location, so clkose to the square and lakeside.

Review 64:Breakfast was included but if you want eggs you have to pay for them - I wasn't happy about that.

Review 65:No easy chairs to relax in.

Review 66:The shower room and the staff .

Review 67:Room too small b/fast not very good bit disorganised

Review 68:Lovely staff good position

Review 69:the room is much too small. it is not convinient. some of the staff were very nice. help we got from the staff in other hotel.

Review 70:we were there for 2 nights. location is great. breakfast is good. we had nice views when we had lunch on the roof. lunch was good.

Review 71:Very tiny room not appropriate for two people. Even smaller bathroom and the smallest TV I have ever seen hung nearly on the ceiling. We were given a room with a "nice view"...you had to open the windows and hang your head out the window to see the water, otherwise you looked directly into the windows of the next door neighbors. Room heat is controlled by reception set at 23C which is great during the day but too hot at night so you have to open the windows; lots of morning noise. Poor breakfast; all sugar and carbohydrates; bread, rolls, cereal, juice, water a jar of nutella and yogurt. Pay extra if you want eggs, IF they even take the time to offer it to you. Very unprofessional staff member serving in the breakfast room and check out.

Review 72:Nice location but the hotel needs to provide instructions or a map as GPS/Nav failed to find the hotel. From paid parking (10e/24 hr) lot it's only a 7 minute walk. Very good dinner and service (expensive). Nice view from roof top terrace. Some attention to problems and it could be a nice boutique hotel but it seems these are continuing problems and management doesn't really care.

Review 73:Access difficult, couldn't see out or sit on balcony for vegetation. Jacuzzi bath in room taking up potential storage space. Tiny shower cubicle, TV no bigger than a shoe.

Review 74:The room was a good size. Very central, lovely and clean, fresh and new . Modern tasteful decor. Staff lovely, breakfast excellent and free.

Review 75:We had unfortunatelly some disturbances with water distribution. Of course not dependent on the hotel, but infrastructure. Still they did not have any recovery plans and turned a bit bitter and callous with customer difficulties and experience

Review 76:Small beutiful town, clear lake water, idyllic environment. The hotel has fine facilities and tastefully decorated rooms.

Review 77:annoying repetitive looped music that you couldn't escape hearing.

Review 78:great location in itself and good for day trips to other lakes/Alps. Easy going atmosphere. Many good restaurant choices nearby and at the Locanda.

Review 79:Wifi was too slow at any price, certainly not worth the 5 euros for just two hours! Lack of view.

Review 80:Hotel's tasteful design, room prices and location. Room 5 was small but very well designed: good lighting, great wall unit for stashing a suitcase had lots of little places to store things. Bathroom had very modern fixtures, including rainshower with side sprayers. Good TV reception. Hotel receptionist was very good at allaying my worries that our car would be photographed and fined (in the hundreds of euros) for entering the controlled traffic zone to drop our luggage. The hotel takes your license plate number and relays it to the authorities to prevent a fine.

Review 81:Staff were unhelpful and generally not interested, we had to chase them for everything (e.g. tea/coffee with breakfast) The rooms are absolutely tiny. Very very basic breakfast, some stale croissants & cereal.

Review 82:Good location

Review 83:No way to drive close to the hotel fir dropoff , not practical if you stay several days and have bags. No indication of how to get to the hotel from the parking outside of the village.

Review 84:The room we stayed in is gorgeous. Decorated with very good taste and style. Loved the jaccuzzi on the balcony

Review 85:private Garage under vodeo control secret dor only for guests service at dinner time Menues

Review 86:Room was very small. Glad we did not have suitcases.

Review 87:Location.

Review 88:Small room

Review 89:Style

Review 90:Rooms were nice mix of modern furniture with old rustic wooden beams on the ceiling and stone walls. a very warm and comforting feeling

Review 91:Loved this little inn, very helpful, comfy beds and simple but nice rooms. Excellent restaurant, rooftop bistro fab view, cuisine, and service.

Review 92:relaxed atmosphere, very kind, lovely surroundings

Review 93:The bistro up on the roof served some of the best food I've EVER had. I would go back there only to eat the tuna steak again.

Review 94:Location was beautiful, hotel accomodated us very well. Only addition would be an indoor lounge for rainy weather

Review 95:Would have liked fruit available at breakfast

Review 96:Only one small complaint-see didn t like-otherwise all good

Review 97:The room was very tiny. If you have a large suitcase, it can become a problem!

Review 98:Small room little noisy

Review 99:Location and staff

Review 100:Service, food, cleanliness
