Reviews for Hotel Fontaine Bleue
Review 1:The owner pick up us from the airport, the personnel was very gentile and kind, the place is beautiful and comfortable, and the last they they drove us to a small tour to the closest village and drop us again in the airport.
Review 2:Location, close to Orto San Guilio but far enough away from the crowded town. Helpful and caring staff. Scenic surroundings. This is our second time here and will stay here again.
Review 3:The outstanding memory of our stay in this hotel is the friendly staff. The service was nothing short of excellent and we would not hesitate to return. We used our car for the short journey to Orta old town, many people walked from the hotel into town but this takes 25-30 minutes. The covered parking was a bonus and about 8 cars and several motorbikes can be fitted in this garage area, but there is plenty of secure parking on the premises (outside) and the gates can be closed. The drinks were cheap and the measures v/large. The food in the restaurant was superb in the evenings and the breakfast was great . We had a balcony with a view of the lake.
Review 4:Great staff, very clean, a bit out of town so only works if you have a car. The staff was very helpful and welcoming. They helped us with where to go in town. Great place for the price Breakfast includes omelets made to order, with a very friendly checkout process in the breakfast room
Review 5:No complaints
Review 6:The staff are excellent, the location is ideal with views from the balcony across lake Orta Room above average size and very comfortable Restaurant food excellent
Review 7:We were delighted to be treated as if we were the only guests of the hotel! (We weren't!!!). We stayed for 5 days and attended a family wedding in Orta. Othello and his staff really could not do enough to ensure our stay was comfortable and one to remember. The restaurant was open every night we were there, the menu had good choices and the food served was delicious. Breakfast was also good, with plenty of choice. Lovely views of the lake from our room, small beach opposite. Good secure parking. If you are thinking of staying here, then think no further, just book it!!
Review 8:.The place needs an urgent renovation The air conditioning is not working and everything looks very old It is a 60 euro per night and not 100 (like we have paid) hotel
Review 9:The staff is very nice and helpful
Review 10:It was a little to far to walk from the centre however very close to a lovely beach. The staff gave us lifts into town so it wasn't an issue in the end.
Review 11:I have never known staff try so hard to please, they definitely went above and beyond the call of duty. We really appreciated their service and kindness.
Review 12:More like Motel than Hotel. Away from town so you need a car to get anywhere. On the main road which means constant traffic noise. Old big shed/workshop was my main view NOT a lake view they promise. Beds very hard and cracking every time you turn. Shower not for average size person. I am small and had to go in sideways...
Review 13:Staff very friendly and helpful. The only good thing about this hotel.
Review 14:Hotel just a little dated, and could have really done with air conditioning in bedroom - it was boiling!!!! Also perhaps some sort or mosquito screen on sliding doors to terrace would have been good. Otherwise nothing else negative!
Review 15:Location of Hotel was excellent. Fantastic to have beach so close. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The kids loved the games room! Hotel full of character! We LOVED Orta, and would definitely stay at this hotel if we returned to Lake
Review 16:Free entry at the lido next to the hotel - really enjoyed the refreshing bath in the lake - delicious food in the hotel restaurant - definitively worth a stay if you are in the area...
Review 17:Don't get there before chech-in time!
Review 18:A comfortable place to stay. Laid back. Need a car to get around, but a. Ice beach out front. Great and reasonable food. Best around the lake.
Review 19:Hospitality was outstanding. Very friendly and helpful . Good breakfast, good location, beach opposite great. Immediate impression is that is a bit run down , but we had a great stay overall.
Review 20:All was perfect
Review 21:The location was perfect to visit orta. The service was exceptional. Parking for our motorcycle was secure. well worth a detour on our trip through Italy.
Review 22:Nothing bad to report
Review 23:Food,Staff,Staff and Staff again !! They really were the best in years of staying in hotels around the world...couldn't fault them in any way.....
Review 24:Liked everything, but we had a car. Would have been more difficult getting around if we didn't have a car. WiFi only in reception center.
Review 25:Laid back hotel with the best dinners on Lake Orta. Great value. Pleasant and very informed manager.
Review 26:friendly and helpful staff both in reception and restaurant, nice breakfast and dinner, clean room and comfortable beds, beautiful surroundings, nice balcony with great beach lake view, free private parking, for sure will come back.
Review 27:nothing
Review 28:very friendly staff, especially Othello, thank you for perfect dinner and breakfast, also for dessert and liqueur and very good trip recommendations, thank you Othello
Review 29:Not much. A road separates the hotel from the lake, and is busy andnoisy during the day, though quiet at night.
Review 30:My brother stayed here last year, so we pretty well knew what to expect.Othello runs his hotel very well, is very personable, and can't doenough for you. Our room was just fine, and had a lovely view over thelake. The bed was firm,( as in all of Italy it seems!) but notuncomfortable. The bathroom could do with a bit of upgrading, and it wastricky trying to prevent the entire floor from flooding, but once we gotthe hang of it, it was fine. Breakfast was great. Nice to see that someItalian hotels are putting more emphasis on this. Dinner was also verygood, and ended with complimentary dessert and liqueur.
Review 31:Only downside to this hotel is that it is close to the road, & road can get very busy in the weekends. Bicycle brakes need some attention to get them working better.
Review 32:Othello and his brother run this hotel. Othello speaks reasonable French, English, German, Spanish and of c Italian. He is awesome!!! He would do anything for you! His brother is a fantastic chef, the meals in the restaurant testify to this, the Gnocchi Gorgonzola was phenomenal, lasagne amazing, the wine cellar is fabulous (Piemonte region wines Barbera d'Alba and others) good selection, Othello even asks the guest if they wish to go down to the cellar and peruse. A different dessert and aperitif is given at dinner each night (for free!) The hotel is right over the road from the lake beach. There is a private beach where others must pay for access, but hotel guests are allowed free entrance - u can rent paddle boats, kayaks, beach umbrellas and beach chairs. We just lay on the beach w our towels for free. When the private beach is closed there is a portion of beach that anyone can access. One day we were the only people there except for two ducklings!! That is unheard of at these lakes! There are 5-6 older mountain bicycles at the hotel, you must pump up the tires yourself. Breakfast had a huge selection from granola, cornflakes, white bread, brown bread toasted, jams, hams, cheese, melon, fresh orange juice, eggs for boiling, omelette if you want, and as many cappucinos and espressos your heart desires. There is a pizzeria next door for dinner as well. There is a large games room with pool table, air hockey table, fussball table, balls and a large flat grass area for kids. There are hammocks on the 2nd floor balcony for sunbathing and reading. Our room had a queen bed, comfortable, slept well, views of lake from bed, balcony w table and chairs, large clean bathroom w hairdryer and complimentary toiletries (soap, bodywash/shampoo, shoe cleaner, nail file etc). There is a a high mountain/hill - Mottarone- (about 20 mins driving) where you can view 6 of the areas lakes AND there is an Alpine roller coaster there w amazing views and great fun.
Review 33:It's convenient location meant there was a busy road nearby with some trafic noise when balcony doors were open.
Review 34:Hotel manager took a personal interest in our every comfort to ensure our stay was as pleasurable as possible.
Review 35:We stayed at the hotel ond had a great stay. Otello at the reception was very service orientated and was a real great host. The sandy beach right in front was really great and unique .
Review 36:Nothing!
Review 37:Staff were excellent especially ottello. Made sure the whole family were happy and entertained, incl our dog! Great for our older teenage kids with the games room and they loved the hammocks upstairs. Ottello went the extra mile, thank you, he is 5*!! It is a 3* hotel so don't expect 5*. Dinner was very good with relaxed but attentive service. A very enjoyable stay, we will return!
Review 38:my wife complained of feeling the bedsprings at night. one of the bathroom sink handles came partly apart, and the toilet seat was not securely attached. The hallway light sensor did not function properly.
Review 39:great welcome at the front desk and very friendly breakfasts, with good choices and service
Review 40:There were no items with this hotel we disliked.
Review 41:Ottello, a charming friendly man who made our stay and return visits whilst staying elsewhere very pleasant. Good value friendly howl with use of beach area.
Review 42:Very welcoming reception, the owners are very helpful, courteous, the room was confortable, the breakfast abundant and the restaurant offered very good food. The beach was pleasant and Orta a little jewel that needs to be seen.
Review 43:Whilst the rooms were clean, they could benefit from an upgrade- especially the bedding and pillows
Review 44:Friendly staff, especially the concierge Breakfast was good. The location was fantastic, one of the prettiest places on earth
Review 45:Decoration of floor 0 (The welcoming area) and decoration of reception (simply, terrible). Rooms decoration and furniture were basic but fair. Views: In front of the room we had a restaurant and a kind of abandoned building. We could see the lake through 1/4 of our window... Next to the road (in front of the rooms). A bit pricy for the quality of the room and the views.
Review 46:The staff The breakfast
Review 47:Location by busy road. Air conditioning unit in room but we were told it wasn't operational/we couldn't have it on.
Review 48:Friendliness of staff. Easy to find. Games room (we had a game of table tennis). Parking.
Review 49:The beds. Ours kept us awake most of the night creaking with every turn. They need sorting. The Hotel is all a bit "tired". Mosquitos......take some spray.
Review 50:Othello the Concierge, head waiter and tour guide. He makes the stay worthwhile. Very secure ample parking......not easy around the Northern Lakes hotels. Breakfast.....we looked forward to it every morning. Lovely views of Lake Orta from the balcony.
Review 51:Wifi works in lobby only. Food services only open early or late. Although if the weather is nice the restaurant across the street (at the beach) is open.
Review 52:Great location if you have rental car or if you are comfortable riding the complimentary bikes approx 3km. Staff was exceptional and friendly. Othello is the most accommodating hotel staff I have ever met.
Review 53:Friendlyness and willingness to help
Review 54:What a lovely hotel with wonderful friendly staff, nothing was too much trouble. We had a fantastic meal in the restaurant too
Review 55:Beautiful view from the room over the lake and distant mountains. Very helpful staff.
Review 56:View out over the lake. Easy car parking. Helpful people
Review 57:Nothing really.
Review 58:Great staff, very helpful, excellent evening meal & breakfast.
Review 59:Really Nice hotel and a very helpful host and Staff. We Got drawings of possible hiking and biking tours
Review 60:very friendly staff, location away from it all!
Review 61:Improves with tome
Review 62:Ocelli was so kind and helpful. The other staff were as well. Breakfast was fantastic.
Review 63:felt room needed a little bit of work (eg: broken handle on sliding door etc)
Review 64:decent hotel, great access to lake
Review 65:Lack of air conditioning , limited wifi.
Review 66:The private each, excellent food, helpful and caring staff,, amazing views overlooking the lake .
Review 67:The hotel has lots of space in communal area's where you can relax. The staff is sincerly kind and helpfull.
Review 68:Charming staff and first class foof
Review 69:All good really. Nice balcony and view of the lake. I'd stay there again. Bicycle friendly.
Review 70:Super friendly and helpful staff and excellent food at the restaurant.
Review 71:There was nothing to not like
Review 72:very welcoming and pleasant
Review 73:Great restaurant and really helpful staff, onsite parking. Good breakfast.
Review 74:The WiFi only worked at the reception
Review 75:Good value for money place Great location
Review 76:great staff
Review 77:Staff, location
Review 78:Nothing
Review 79:Very nice place. Great staff - thanks Othello and Tania!
Review 80:Great location for families with children, open lake beach, friendly staff.
Review 81:Hauswine poor quality. Salat poor quality. Food average taste for a fairly high price!
Review 82:Clean room. Nice Breakfast. Pleasant Personnel
Review 83:1. Basin tap fell to pieces 2. TV too small and no english speaking channels 3.no lounge for adults 4.signage could be better
Review 84:+ Reception staff Othello is the most warm blooded person I have ever seen. He is very kind and takes care of everything. +View of hotel room and breakfast was good.
Review 85:Disappointed that the beach area was not open midweek.(Perhaps weather situations apply ?.).
Review 86:We had a wonderful welcome.Othello and Davide are both excellent at their repective jobs.Other staff were discreet and hardworking Rooms were comfortable and spacious with good view of the lake .We were very happy on our 6 day stay.Food at the restaurant was excellent .Also Othellos attentive service,(He is a gem.)
Review 87:We were at the hotel in Spring so it was; Empty, Cold, Being painted for the new season. DIY poor breakfast,
Review 88:Views of the lake and mountains from the bedroom. Helpful staff (only one of them there).
Review 89:The low wattage light in the bedroom. The WiFi not working continuously.
Review 90:It is important to be clear about what one expects. I paid less than50Eu per night and I did not expect the Hilton. My room was clean,Davide made a nice cappuccino and there was formaggi e salumi, eprosciiutto per breakfast. On my last day, Davide even made me anomelette...that's called going above and beyond!! No problem withthe room except the WiFi did not always work. But, I only paid less than50 Eu, so my expectations were not high. Would I return? Yes, if I amalone. Saluti a Otello e Davide for working so hard to please theguests. Also, saluti a Deborah...una bella donna!!...you know who I amtalking about, Otello.
Review 91:Friendly and helpful Staff Rooms were comfortable and the balcony gave a good view of the lake. We ate twice in the restaurant and our meal was very pleasant.
Review 92:Hotel a little tired , in need of refurbishment
Review 93:Great location and views over lake, near lido. Friendly and helpful staff.easy access to Santa Giulio, free on site parking ,comfortable room.
Review 94:Too far to walk in to San Guilio in the evening. We drove in, left the car overnight, the restaurant we ate in booked a taxi for us. All cost an extra 30 euros for the night. Hotel décor is tired but clean.
Review 95:Great views across to Lake Orta, close to a small sandy beach, excellent staff, comfortable and spacious rooms. Good price and fine for an overnight stay.
Review 96:The entire hotel is somewhat shabby. I feel terrible writing that, sinceOthello really was an incredibly kind host, but we came here on ourhoneymoon and were very disappointed. In fact, we left after the firstnight, even though the policy of booking.com and the hotel meant we hadto pay for three of the four nights. Don't get me wrong, there isnothing terribly wrong with the hotel. It's just that it seems asthough there has not been any updating or care to decorate in aconsistent way... Basically, it feels haphazard, and not in a good way.I would recommend this hotel for a family, since the beach is rightacross the way, but what they don't tell you is that you get freeaccess to the beach but then are nickel and dimed for everything else. Asunchair costs extra, the use of an umbrella costs extra (even thoughthey are set up, so it's almost difficult to avoid using it). Thisalso, made the whole experience feel cheap. Again, this hotel is fine. There is nothing wrong with it. But if you are, right now, looking atthis listing, and noticing as we are that it is rated the number threehotel in Lago D'Orta, please, please know that it absolutely is not. It's kind of like how McDonald's can sometimes get a greatrating on Yelp, but you know it's not a great restaurant, right? This is fine, but it is in no way special.
Review 97:The staff person, Othello, was incredibly kind, funny, and hard working. He was just about the only person we saw working at the hotel (notentirely true, there was someone else staffing breakfast and also thehousekeeping woman) and we saw him at all hours. The breakfast was verygood and had a lot of different options that were obviously aimed tosatisfy travelers from Europe as well as America.
Review 98:The staff , especially Othello, Anna, and the chef were extremely nice and helpful. It is not a hotel de luxe, but very comfortable, and the food was very good as well as the breakfast buffet. It is located at the outskirts of the little town of Orta, but at a little cove where you can swim or rent a boat. We enjoyed our stay very much.
Review 99:I believe "i gamberetti" at dinner made me very sick.
Review 100:Peaceful situation with one of few beaches. There's some way to the village. Go walk on the hillside.
Review 101:The Private beach can get a bit crowded at peak times and you may not always get access if it is already full.
Review 102:The staff were warm, welcoming and attentive. The location was stunning and the hotel facilities were of a simple but high standard.
Review 103:Bad connection for wifi, no air condition in the room, restaurant working hours should be extended till midnight (considering hotel).
Review 104:Friendly staff, good and stylish breakfast, good to find and parking free of charge
Review 105:The staff is very friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere in the hotel is very warm. The parking is very comfortable. The room is not fancy but clean, large and beautiful with a great view to the lake. There is an Orta Lake beach near the hotel with free entrance to hotel guests. In evening we stayed in hotel and went to hotel restaurant. The meal was great (reasonable prices). The hotel has also vine cellar where we could choose from the various assortment of vines. The breakfast was tasty.
Review 106:We found the staff warm, welcoming and extremely helpful throughout our stay. This was without doubt the best hospitality we found on our trip to the region. Would highly recommend.
Review 107:Hotel position overlooking the lake. Excellent food in restaurant. But our holiday was made by the kind attentions of the manager, Otello. Nothing too much trouble and he was the one ray of sunshine in what was disappointing weather for time of year. Whilst we were there, wifi was installed but only available in reception area at the moment. Big bonus.
Review 108:Othello and his brother were both excellent hosts and made our stay a memorable experience. The meals delightfully served in the main dining room and the breakfast room were both of a high standard. The setting on the edge of lake Orta is idyllic.
Review 109:Nothing.
Review 110:Simple, clean, excellent value for money. Staff very helpful and welcoming, meal at restaurant was also good value. Great location to explore Lake Orta.
Review 111:Hotel staff, especially Othello is best!!!
Review 112:The welcome and the friendly service. Otello and Davide were splendid hosts and the meals were superb and excellent value for money.
Review 113:There is Wifi only at the lobby. But they will have Wifi in all rooms soon.
Review 114:The Staff. Both Otelo and Davida were very kind and helpful.
Review 115:Anything
Review 116:Nice location at lakeshore. Good restaurant and excellent breakfast. Nice atmosphere and good room.
