Reviews for Tiby Hotel

Review 1:Tiny bathroom, shower was almost inaccessible, unfriendly staff, breakfast was a joke, hotel was in a semi industrial area amongst high rise offices and apartments, long distance from the centre of the city and the Ferrari Museum.

Review 2:The price

Review 3:bar was never open to sit and relax in the evening. restaurant wasn't open day we arrived for lunch or dinner. lady receptionist not very helpful

Review 4:rooms clean and bright. male reception was very helpful and pleasant.

Review 5:A very good hotel. Not new, but renovated enough and clean. Spacious room, nice and helpful staff, they speak very good English. I came to work at night (I'm a DJ) and asked for a late checkout to get some sleep, meaning noon or one pm, but they gave me time until 18.00 for free that was really nice.

Review 6:Breakfast was very simple, could have more service and options!

Review 7:The staff is very helpful and friendly! Even though it is next to a military compound (You will receive a wake up call early in the morning) the views were lovely from the balcony!

Review 8:The hotel is on the edge of the old town . Apart from one unfriendly woman all the staff were pleasant . The breakfast was just about adequate . The WiFi connection was not great .

Review 9:Bathrooms might be in need of some renovation, but are allright. The surrounding neighborhood seems like one of the poorer parts of the city. The coffee i had for breakfast was one of the worst i ever tasted.

Review 10:The Rooms were clean and the way into the City center is not even 10 minutes. And that for a very good price. Breakfast is very good for italian standards. The restaurant is also very good and worth a visit just for the waiter Fabio. I stayed for a week and had a really good time.

Review 11:First impressions were a hotel from a Warsaw Pact country! Never has it been so true - "Dont judge a book.... etc" Dining room felt like a canteen, we got over it!

Review 12:Reading some of the reviews I sometimes wonder what planet some people are on! We had a change of plans and needed to stay in Modena so booked last minute, it was the cheapest hotel in town unless we shared a bathroom. Guy on check in was nice and very helpful. We were on the 7th floor and checked in early but not a problem, even the cleaners were not put out. The room looked basic but we had great WiFi, a fridge and a comfortable bed. Plenty of free parking outside and a healthy walk into the town. I had read horror stories about breakfast, I am sorry to inform you but it was the best out of 3 hotels we stayed in. Sunday night we found a pizzeria locally as the hotel restaurant was closed. Monday night we found it open so decided to chance it, again the surroundings left a lot to be desired along with lots of working guys staying over night. But..... the food was superb, the staff lead by an ebullient Fabio were great and all this for €14; 2 courses with salad or chips, bread, water and wine. Best value meal of the holiday. Try this hotel with an open mind and you wont go far wrong, we four Brits of a certain age would stay here again. Oh and you dont need a wake up call, the Army base next door calls reveille at 08:00! :-)

Review 13:Breakfast was disgusting. 35+degrees and no chilled cabinet, Bread rolls were rock hard and shattered when tried to cut them. Would not recommend having breakfast there! Air-con in room did nothing;40 years out of date. Room fridge not working.

Review 14:Price and location suited our needs.

Review 15:Everything was ok.

Review 16:Good breakfast. Location 10 min to the city center. Parking available for free - big enough. Rooms in upper floors are very quiet. wi-fi is good free of charge. Clean and nice rooms. Friendly staff

Review 17:The pillows were terrible, flat & hard. There was a lot of dust when we put our case on the shelf & dust under the bed. The toiletries were just 2 small wrapped soaps & 2 sachets of body wash! No tea or coffee making facilities either.

Review 18:We went to see family in Modena so the hotel was perfect location for our stay. We up graded to a superior room. The rooms were a good size, the bathroom was fine and the shower was good. Staff were very friendly. Breakfast was ok.

Review 19:The toilet wasn't connected to the floor. The mattresses were at different levels, even though it was supposed to be a double bed. The area the hotel is situated in doesn't feel safe at night. The breakfast was shocking, the rolls were so stale they couldn't be cut and there was a general lack of appetising food available.

Review 20:Leaving the room each day. The bar fridge had a glass door, nice touch.

Review 21:It looks pretty drab and tired from the outside and even downstairs, but it was still a good value

Review 22:It was quiet, staff was friendly. Room was simple but nice with twin beds.

Review 23:the curtains, bed covers and most of the furniture was brown, which I find a depressing colour. There was no iron or tea-making facilities

Review 24:hotel was close to Modena centro for seeing all the sights - 5 mins walk. basic, but clean and comfortable.

Review 25:Very small shower and meals were very ordinary although breakfast was well catered.

Review 26:Although not in centre of town it was an easy stroll into the Centro. Free parking was good

Review 27:Nothing

Review 28:1. Dinner: 12 euro/person a very delicious meal. I like the mushroom noodles very much 2. Breakfast buffet: I find everything I need for a breakfast such as hot milk, egg, yogurt, bread and hams

Review 29:- very average standard - reminiscet the standard of old communistic hotels in Eastern Europe - the feeling is not as in 3 stars hotel - not to recommend if somebody expect from hotel more as minimum

Review 30:- Quite good location , possible to walk to see old city leaving car by hotel - kind, competent staff - free parking possibility - european breakfast (= more as italian coffe + croissant) - moderate price

Review 31:The breakfast buffet is really bad. It's the only bad meal I had after a week in Italy. You could tell they went for the cheapest of ingredients and the coffee was downright undrinkable. Go outside for breakfast!

Review 32:Location was OK, the city centre is a 15 minutes walk. Rooms are outdated but sufficient. Overall good value for money.

Review 33:Room overlooking the army barracks A bit far out from the centre of Modena but ok walk and a nice town No evening restaurant

Review 34:Delightful staff Free pool table to use

Review 35:The staff are rude! But if you stick at it, they come round eventually! The showers are TINY! If you drop your soap you've had it unless you have the toes n flexibility of a monkey!

Review 36:The price is the thing that is going to make you choose this hotel, and it really isn't bad for the price. The rooms are a good size, clean and with good beds. Breakfast is included though it's not much to write home about, but like i say for the price, you can't really complain!

Review 37:Noise at night from maintenance (at 4 am) The bed is horrible! The terrace is not clean and it's built of cement without any decoration Breakfast: v. few collection

Review 38:Location is good. Everything els is not!

Review 39:Difficult to find, room was clean but the rest of the hotel wasn't. Some people might not like the walking distance into the city centre and the fact that it's located in a residential neighbourhood. I'd stay in the old city centre next time.

Review 40:Pretty close walk (though not that pretty) into Modena historic centre. Really nice staff.

Review 41:Hotel needs serious overhaul. Very 1970s decor. Felt hotel couldn't be clean although there was no visible sign to indicate that it wasn't. Equipment tired and worn out.

Review 42:Staff were quite helpful and location was very good.

Review 43:Not much of a view, far away from any shops. One room's tv didnt work. When my sister complained about it, she was rudely told by the front reception (night shift lady) that it is impossible and it has to work. They did send someone up, he struggled for 20 minutes, then said he'd be back - he just need to check the aerial. They waited 40 minutes but he never returned. The dinner they served was pretty disappointing. Fiorentina steak turned out to be a piece minute steak, bread was incredibly dried out.. :(

Review 44:morning staff was friendly

Review 45:The bathroom wasnt quite ok for a 4 star. And the heating system in the room was poor.

Review 46:I liked the location, less noisy.breakfast was moderately good.

Review 47:N/a.

Review 48:The place is clean and quiet

Review 49:Nice bed. Friendly staff.

Review 50:Would of liked a tea and coffee machine in the room The carpet in the lift needs replacing it was a bit smelly

Review 51:Friendly staff and helpful staff

Review 52:Room not in good condition. Toiletroll holder broken. Toiletpaper on basin. Doorknob broken.

Review 53:The Hotel assistant referred us to a nice restaurant.

Review 54:Nothing working good

Review 55:Standard hotel layout. Very clean and comfortable. Good value. Not far from Modena Centro

Review 56:Everything great! Would use again!

Review 57:unfriendly staff, room smells bad...

Review 58:only wifi...

Review 59:Staff is terribly unfriendly, the morning lady stayed on the phone (personal conversation) while I was trying to do my check out...

Review 60:Close to center

Review 61:No air conditioning

Review 62:Unattractive location

Review 63:Straightforward, soulless hotel

Review 64:For 1 night was fine

Review 65:There was a bat hanging on the curtain in our hallway...very basic room

Review 66:airco could not handle the heatwave, it stayed soaring hot all night

Review 67:Not as close to Ferrari as they made out. Air con was woeful and rooms need updating.

Review 68:The room was comfortable and well kept.

Review 69:Breakfast was good, the rooms were clean and the reception worker was AMAZING. Very kind and excellent English.

Review 70:The shower room(the box shpaed) was so small to move around.

Review 71:It is nice that they clean the room every day.

Review 72:Breakfast

Review 73:Near my host's house

Review 74:Very dreary and not too comfortable. Breakfast left much to be desired.

Review 75:Leaving

Review 76:Breakfast was included in the room price, but we received nothing when leaving at 6:30. They were not ready to prepare any meal package for takeaway.

Review 77:The breakfast could have been heathier.

Review 78:The hotel was vlose to the city centre and good value.

Review 79:The staff wasn't too nice.

Review 80:Price and service

Review 81:space friendly reception quiet clean

Review 82:Really clean and include car park...just 10mins to the Enzo ferari mesum.

Review 83:Very poor soundproof

Review 84:Good price for basic conditions. Can hear National anthem of Italy in morning from military camp located nearby -)

Review 85:not very good location

Review 86:very nice staff, clean rooms, good internet

Review 87:Basic accommodation Awful outlook from hotel Dreadful breakfast

Review 88:Helpful and friendly staff on reception Clean Five minute walk from main town

Review 89:Was a bujldjng site , which if I wasn't up early each morning anyway would of been annoying

Review 90:Short walk to town , good value

Review 91:Far from city center. We had a far so not a problem but not within walking distance of restaurants, bars, centre of town.

Review 92:Free parking.

Review 93:The lack of food late at night

Review 94:Should be more attention should be paid to the cleanliness

Review 95:Free parking, frendly staff, good location - old town near by, shop over the corner

Review 96:good lokation, good brekfast.

Review 97:Staff very Kind and very helpful. Everything A+

Review 98:The breakfast options weren't great and the army base oposite sounds an early wake up alarm.

Review 99:Not far from city centre and the room was nice.

Review 100:Found it very hard to communicate because no-one could speak English.

Review 101:Lovely variety for breakfast & was included in the cost of accommodation.

Review 102:A little to far from center.

Review 103:Perfect service from staff! Very helpful and nice. Clean room.

Review 104:The breakfast was very bad and the coffe was awful. The hotel is 20 minutes walk from the city center.

Review 105:Staff was very helpful to solve the problems: we did not have hot water but they repaired it very quickly at 10 pm! The parking is easy on the street. There is a good cafe not far from the hotel.

Review 106:You get what you pay for and if you are visiting Modena with a car and need a car park and don't want to spend a fortune then this is a good choice. Wifi works. There's a free breakfast too. Not too far to walk to the centre.

Review 107:The room was very dirty and dusty with mildew / mould in the bathroom and very dated, the corridors were dirty. We rang Booking.com and explained our disappointment and sent picture to confirm this. We spoke with the reception staff and were offered a double room (there were 3 of us) which was cleaner and more up to-date. As it was late in the night and no other option given to us we agreed to this room and all three of us shared the double bed for the week. No sky TV or English channels as advertised. The hotel is very dated and the breakfast was not great no real choice and the coffee was undrinkable.

Review 108:the fact the lazy girl receptionist could get you a drink from the bar in the afternoon but the male receptionst cpikd ... the breakfast wasn't fit for animal consumption and I ate out for breakfast !

Review 109:Alll of the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. Both rooms smelt like smoke and one was so bad we had to be asked to move. Also only one bath towel provided in a twin room and we had to go down to reception twice to ask for an additional one and in the end they had to go into another room to find us a full size bath towel. Shower also very small and no shampoo etc provided.

Review 110:Location fine for our purposes, and price reasonable. Free wifi

Review 111:Wifi coverage was poor! Needed to head down to the lobby to use the wifi cause the room's wifi was very weak

Review 112:Nice room with all the necessary utilities. Comfortable

Review 113:Very ugly and meaningless expansive Hotel. Breakfast was horrible, with bread as hard as a brick and anything else tasteless or worst. Rooms are noisy and we did not sleep the first night. Everything seems old and not relaxing at all. Not in a good neighborhood.

Review 114:The staff at the reception was quite nice but this was the only good thing in the whole experience.

Review 115:We had some difficults to find the entrance, because there were two parallel road with the same name!

Review 116:Tiby hotel is very close to the city centre, with a free park. The building is a little bit old, but the room and the hotel is really good. Beakfast is italian-style and not continental, but was good!

Review 117:Not in google maps.. it was pointing the other side of the building. The entrance it's not great as it's in front of a military area.. but inside it's good.

Review 118:Nice room, clean, close the the city center

Review 119:bathroom was dated and shower cubicle very small. On Sunday morning breakfast room was overcrowded, poorly staffed and little food available.Breakfast was poor

Review 120:location,bedroom was clean

Review 121:I found the location a bit of a let down but the hotel is great value.

Review 122:The staff member who dealt with us (from was check in, bar, meal, restaurant) fantastic and I'm sorry not to remember her name. Her wine and beer recommendations were really good!

Review 123:The bathroom was grimey. Leaking water behind the toilet. Would not even dare to shower. As it just looked molded and dirty.

Review 124:Tthe food in the resturant was very good price and very tasty but not at all fancy. For us not fancy is a good thing. That was dinner... The breakfast was sparse but enough

Review 125:The rooms look a bit old but overall they are clean and appropriate for a short stay.

Review 126:Good value for money and very nice and friendly staff. The location is a bit hidden but I cannot say it was difficult to find (as written by others). The hotel is located at walking distance from the centre of town and enjoys free parking. Breakfast is overall good but poor coffee.
