Set on Vulcano, the southernmost of the Aeolian Islands, Mari del Sud Resort & Village is right on the seafront on Porto Ponente Bay. The rooms are set around courtyards and surrounded by Mediterranean plants.
Mari del Sud is typical of the Aeolian islands with its use of stone and decorative ceramic tiles. The rooms are air conditioned and feature a patio.

Review 1：Wi-fi- stupid system. You need to take password for every each day. Andit works only in Reception... Tragedy one english speeking person in Reception-if they can't understand you they just stop to talk to you and goingto make those buisness ... :/

Review 4：The hotel is beautiful, in beautiful surroundings. Staff didn't speak great english, our italian wasn't great either but we got by, the staff did really try.

Review 5：The service in the restaurant was terrible. We waited an hour at dinner for someone to take our order for drinks and food. We then had to wait half an hour for the drinks to be delivered to us and the food was served separately with a half hour difference between the first person and the last person receiving theirs. With young children this can be very frustrating. Breakfast was like a free for all and they were very slow bringing replacements to the buffet.

Review 7：All day we had nice relaxing 'jazz cafe/lounge' music thiswas great it suited the environment perfectly but for some reason thepool guy kept playing cheesy bad taste (fast) electronic music in theafternoon which cheapened the whole vibe, he also had an attitude thatgave the impression that he didn't really like his job. For 4starsthis hotel seems to be lacking a strong manager to make sure all thedetails are perfect

Review 10：The pool was our favorite! The location is awesome! Close to everything (within 10 mins. walk). Free shuttle to and from the ferry port. The rooms feels like villas and the décor made us feel like we're really on a tropical vacation. Loved the surroundings of the hotel and how they light the pathways with candle lanterns at night. We ate there for dinner on our first night and the food was good. Breakfast have good selection but the view from the restaurant is beautiful!

Review 17：- while most of the staff is friendly (not so much at the pool), hardly any one speaks any english, which makes simple things (e.g. obtaining towels for the pool) a challenge (besides, they are only handed out in the morning, if you want one in the afternoon, you're out of luck) - the don't want you to dry your bathing suits on the terrace of your room (supposedly to keep the look of the facility uncluttered) - and then there's the restaurant: while the quality of the food is fair to quite good, the dinner buffet is only refreshed on a hit-or-miss base, if you want dessert 50 mins before the buffet closes, you're out of luck, the same goes for breakfast - there's video surveillance everywhere - is your room is close to the restaurant, you will be subjected to lounge music 24/7, luckily we were close to the lobby, but still the music was audible, which had us close the terrace door and turn on the A/C during the night, which is something we usually don't do

Review 18：the location is rather fine, the facility is surrounded by a beautiful mediterranean garden, the beach is nearby and quite nice, all in all quite enjoyable, if there weren't a few drawbacks...

Review 19：Our room was full of ants...and it was a connecting room so not very sound proof from the one adjacent which unfortunately for us was making a lot of noise. This hotel as its name states is a 'resort' so there are a lot of famillies with children and in 'all inclusive' (which was not our case) : you can only eat at the buffet or pizza . (which are both quite good) In conclusion, with regards to the other hotels in the vicinity the value for money is, according to us, really not good. With the price we paid we were expecting a 'real' 4* which is unfortunately clearly not what it is with regards to staff (reception/concierge really not good), comfort (noisy) and cleanliness (ants several days in a row...) eventhough the location and facilities/equipment are really good.

Review 30：Breakfast was not as we had expected. We missed fresh Bread ( we suggest deliverance from the two local bakers or even better from mauritzus's) eggs and cheese. The restaurant didn't serve lunch or dinner as promises. Worst of all: on three nights late private parties with very loud Music in the restaurant right opposite our rooms. Friday night until Half past three in spite of our complaints.
