Reviews for Hotel Aracoeli
Review 1:Difficult to find. No signage. Also when we booked it said that they had parking. BUT that parking was a 20 minute walk from the hotel. We probably would not have chosen this hotel if we had known that there was no 'usable' parking.
Review 2:The breakfast was good. Once we found the lady that checked us in (after a lengthy search) she was very helpful.
Review 3:We'd recommend you don't drive into the town itself. VERY narrow streets and lots of pedestrians. Park up top and walk down.
Review 4:Lovely spacious room with glimpses of the lake. Comfy bed with a very generous breakfast. Staff in the hotel itself were wonderful
Review 5:A great location with a lovely view from our balcony. Very attractive modern room although not sure about the trendy shower in the the room. There is an enclosed WC. Good breakfast.
Review 6:The broken loo seat, the bed was 2 sofas put together, very poor lighting, no working air conditioning, floors spotted, minute TV. I have photos.
Review 7:The location near the lake
Review 8:Stayed in a room for four, shower against wall the in room with the beds. No privacy, separated by one clear glass panel only. Furnished with worn out IKEA, college dorm design.
Review 9:Location and breakfast
Review 10:The hotel is right on the square so can be a little noisy at night from the people sitting outside drinking.
Review 11:I loved the location, beautiful part of italy. Went for my friends wedding and I would love to visit again for longer. The lake is picture postcard. The people are very friendly and welcoming and lots of bars and restaurants to choice from.
Review 12:Just needed a mirror in the bathroom and wi-fi although you could pick up the wi-fi frim the restaurant across the road if you were out on the balcony.
Review 13:This hotel is located in the main square and so perfect for all the local shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, and the beautiful views across the lake. The choice of food at breakfast is vast, fresh and delicious. The rooms are cleaned daily to a high standard and the free mini fridge topped up. The air conditioned rooms make a comfortable nights sleep. The main square is busy at night so it doesn't quieten down until about 2am. But this did not disturb me going to sleep early if I wanted to. The only thing i needed and didn't have was a mirror in my bedroom when doing my hair. My sister stayed in the 5 star San Rocca but after seeing my room, which was very big, and the fact that I had tea and coffee making facilities and she didnt, and she had to pay extra for mini fridge contents - she said she would stay at this hotel next time.
Review 14:Wifi did not work in upper rooms. I had to hang clothes in front of door to room to block light at night.
Review 15:Breakfast was wonderful Room was excellent location was perfect
Review 16:The wifi did not work at our room wich was the penthouse. The hotel is very difficult to reach. The parking is located far away from the hotel and the town - wich is very beautiful - and full of stairs, hills and brickroads is NOT good with suitcases.
Review 17:1. Badly positioned mirror and lack of full length mirror. 2. Lack of useful lighting over bed and solid bedside tables. 3. Unstaffed entrance to building, so didn't feel secure.
Review 18:1. Breakfast was excellent. 2. Location good - very close to the main piazza. 3. Most design features were stylish.
Review 19:We had the junior suite and the shower water freely flows into living area and our toddler slipped and hit his head on stone floor. WiFi does not work in your room Nowhere to sit and relax in your room other than the bed which is low to floor The reception staff at check in extremely rude.
Review 20:The breakfast was nice although parts of the Parma ham had gone off. Had a lovely selection of cakes, hams, cheeses, breads, rolls, fresh fruit
Review 21:Only a wardrobe for clothes no drawers to unpack so have to live out of bag also shower in middle of room which is ok for couples but for a family of adults not ideal the situation was made to work. No safety deposit box available anywhere for us to use so was uneasy leaving things at first as we were travelling for a wedding. Wifi only available downstairs in breakfast area.
Review 22:Excellent location right on the main piazza. The rooms are big with plenty of space.
Review 23:Lumpy pillows! The bedding was a bit sub-par, but overall, it was absolutely acceptable.
Review 24:Loved the "homey" feel of the hotel, there was always food stocked in the community fridge and the mini-fridge in the room...free of charge! The hotel felt warm and safe, although it's not what I would consider a luxury hotel. However, I would stay there again in a heartbeat due to the location and the sweetness of the staff.
Review 25:Tiny complaint, scratchy bed linen (feather quilt)
Review 26:We were amazed at the location in the centre of the piazza with our own balcony with waterside views. The breakfast here was something else! never have I eaten what can only be described as a banquet before. They gave us 10% discount to eat at their restaurant which was the best meal of our holiday.
Review 27:The air conditioning in the room wasn't very good. Difficult to find staff to speak to. Reception about a minute walk from the hotel.
Review 28:Shower. Layout of the room. Space. Free snacks in fridge. Views from balcony. Cake for breakfast! Value for money.
Review 29:everything else!!!!!! hotel staff, food, staff, rooms, wifi.....the list is long! the shower is in the middle of the room and has two uncovered sides and so water covers the bedroom floor. the beds are uncomfy. at breakfast there was no room to sit and the very rude staff said we couldn't have breakfast then, so we had to pay for breakfast elsehwere. WIFI only works on the ground floor so useless if you in the room.
Review 30:Location on the square but can be noisy!
Review 31:Internet connection was very bad. Hotel management said it was a constant issue which the internet provider cannot rectify.
Review 32:Breakfast table is superb. Although it is buffet, the constant service, the quality and variety of food is is highly commendable.
Review 33:Be warned that the office of the hotel is a 200m walk away from the hotel (wasn't a real problem for us!)
Review 34:Situated right in the center of Orta in the main Piazza. Lovely and clean/modern. Nice spread at breakfast and facilities were good.
Review 35:Not a bad experience but the bedroom wld have been more comfortable with another chair and a good mirror and a table. Bed side lights cld have been better and why no bedside tables?
Review 36:Bathroom good and the shower different but very good. We enjoyed our stay and it wld have been perfect it the other comments had been considered.
Review 37:No reception area on site, and on the few occasions I needed to phone the main reception, the phone lines were down.
Review 38:The staff were friendly, the location central and surrounding scenery amazing. My daughter got married here, so 47 of us, were scattered around the town in various hotels/apartments. I fell in love with this location and Italy.
Review 39:Open shower in bedroom, so easy to flood room. Nowhere to put anything in bathroom and little storage in bedroom - small amount of hanging space but no shelves, drawers or bedside tables. No staff on site. Noisy on warm night and rubbish collection in the morning.
Review 40:Situation in historic square with glimpse of lake. Wide choice for breakfast. Outside tables.
Review 41:the shower without a screen so wet bedroom floor. in summer the duvet is too much especially since the a/c is not so effective & windows have to be shut, having no insect screen in spite of the mosquitos around.
Review 42:the staff, the abundant breakfast, the futon, the location
Review 43:- The mattresses were extremely soft and unpleasant to sleep on. - The room on the first floor oversees the central place of Orta San Giulio which is nice but very loud at night. - The parking 20 minutes walking distance from the hotel. - Reaching the hotel by car is very unpleasant as one has to navigate through extremely narrow streets of the old village. - Staff were not unfriendly but neither helpful, attentative or interested in why we decided to leave after only one night. - Prices are way too high for what in our eyes is a place with potential and good design ideas but poor execution.
Review 44:- Great breakfast choice and good quality. - Rooms are spacious.
Review 45:The whole experience of staying in orta was very nice. The people, the place, hotel, staff. We have in fact booked our wedding there in sept 2017!!
Review 46:Futon beds, no chairs, bad lighting
Review 47:Location, shower
Review 48:The bar below which had patrons till 2.30am so no sleep the first night. We moved to another hotel by the kind staff.
Review 49:Breakfast
Review 50:Location
Review 51:Beds
Review 52:Loved this hôtel, location, style etc but VERY unconfortable beds
Review 53:No bath in a family room found hard to wash my daughter. Lack of mirrors
Review 54:While preparing breakfast the doors were open so the birds came in eating from the cakes.
Review 55:Location and excellent breakfast
Review 56:shower in the bedroom with clear glass
Review 57:size of bedroom
Review 58:Noisy Irish outside drinking until 2 in the morning. Can't be helped as they were at a wedding
Review 59:Excellent service, great place
Review 60:Staff was great!!! AMAZING BREAKFAST!! Thank you for everything!
Review 61:WIFI should be all over the hotel not just the breakfast area
Review 62:Friendly staff great location
Review 63:Just note that the reception is at a little Info Office about 50m from the hotel.
Review 64:big room
Review 65:shower room and wifi
Review 66:friendly staff , Gorgeous breakfast
Review 67:Angela Merkels Picture at the Reception, rather choose Berlusconi in italy, smile!
Review 68:Location Staff Design of Rooms Service
Review 69:Lack of functioning AC, showers in "room of ones own" are dismal.
Review 70:Central location. Breakfast buffet. Friendly staff.
Review 71:Like many others have commented the noise from the bars and restaurants below is really very loud and goes on pretty late so if you're in any way a light sleeper this hotel is a non starter. Others complained about the showers leaking all over the floor. We actually loved the showers and the 'problem' would be solved if they just drained more efficiently. You do end up standing in 2 inches of water at the end of your shower. Again, as others have commented you have to go looking for your breakfast. What is on offer is spread over so many different fridges and tables in such a big area it's just not a great breakfast experience. You open a fridge door and it's jam packed with half empty cartons of fruit juices and milks. Not very appealing.
Review 72:It was nice to have a view of the lake and the room was modern and bright if you like that sort of hotel room. Beds are very low to the ground.
Review 73:Minimalist furnishing. Rather like an IKEA showroom. For a mature couple the bed is very low. Parking is some distance away so would recommend just one small bag.
Review 74:Good location. We had a 3rd floor room with great views. The Hotel is in the centre and close to boat terminal. Plenty of nearby eating places.
Review 75:The room pictures are nice on Booking, but the real room is so shabby, stinky and depressing. The shower is in the middle of the room without tub or curtain, no wonder the water was all over the floor after we took a shower. The room is facing the main square, no soundproof, very noisy even after midnight. The wifi is only available in the breakfast room, which is dark and dirty. The breakfast is minimalist, they are the portion control masters. The town Orta S.Guilia is very nice and peaceful, but stay away from this hotel!!!
Review 76:Free drinks and snacks in the minibar
Review 77:nil dislikes.
Review 78:Good size rooms, clean rooms, friendly staff and awesome location directly on the Piazza with ease of access to many fine food restaurants, bars and shops. The town and Lake is just breath taking so beautiful to walk around. Only looking to stay 1 night however extended to 4 nights to enjoy the location and surrounds.
Review 79:Too noisy Light open passing through the door all night long Too cold It's not an Hotel, there's no service, it's a guesthouse Uncomfortable bed Too expensive for what u got
Review 80:Location Size of the room Kind staff
Review 81:Lake d,orta during the winter is not a good option. Nothing to see or do. Nobody in the hotel, just us and no front desk service Room not so dark during the night, much natural light
Review 82:Front desk reception
Review 83:There were 3 people staying in this room but only 2 towels and robes on arrival. Reception were happy to provide more on request. The shower although wonderful sprays all over the floor leaving large pools of water and making it very slippery. The majority of plug sockets are by water also. Finally, we were unable to split the bill and had to pay per room.
Review 84:Stunning room with the biggest shower I've ever seen. Very contemporary and comfortable. Beautiful views and perfect location being right in the square. Breakfast was fantastic with a vast choice available and home cooked.
Review 85:Breakfast although good was random and chaotic due to it being the hub for other hotels.
Review 86:The room was great for our young family, hotel location was fantastic, and the town and lake very picturesque.
Review 87:Unusually cannot think of a negative.
Review 88:Quirky room with romantic balcony overlooking piazza and lake, great location, fantastic breakfast was great fun, items laidout in odd places, just unique. Parking was much less of an issue than anticipated, just parked in multi storey.
Review 89:There isn't a mirror in the room.. The porthole of the room door: The light of the stairs at night gets in.
Review 90:Rooms have an interesting fashion style, are clean and comfortable. Very good breakfast, abundant with fresh fruit. Just one foot from the main square of Aorta (really!) Great idea the shower out of the bath.
Review 91:The breakfast was just about ok. They could do with providing more hot food for breakfast. We found it unusual that there no reception area but then all the hotels seem to be similar.
Review 92:The hotel is in a great location right on the corner of the square in Orta San Giulio. We were there for a family wedding. It's very clean and the staff were extremely helpful. Our room was quite big.
Review 93:Poorly designed lights in bedroom and outside bedroom door
Review 94:Central location Breakfast Spacious bedroom Helpful receptionist directed us to free car park
Review 95:I believe good design should not be at the expense of comfort. The hotel dominates the design of comfort. The hotel, though new but requires renovation.
Review 96:Perfectly located design hotel. Friendly staff. Larger room in an old house of the 16th century! Breakfast is good.
Review 97:I do not see anything to dislike...We had 4 great nights.
Review 98:Best breakfast in the world! (for a small Hotel you have a great choice like in a big 4 stars Hotel). Nice bedrooms with free mini bar. Shower in the room ( some could dislike because of the water near the bed but I thought it was original and funny). One of our best Hotel in Italy in a charming little town. Very original, romantic and modern right on the little place of the town ( on the third floor you can a little balcony with the view of the lake). I recommend it without any restrictions. Merci!
Review 99:Lighting could have been better in our room
Review 100:Quirky rooms and great food in linked restaurant
Review 101:Location ,breakfast

Review 104:Staff very friendly, efficient Very child friendly Great breakfast
Review 105:Parking arrangements
Review 106:Simplicity; functionality; quiet comfort.
Review 107:Shower too modern for us!
Review 108:position in piazza centrale San Giulio, breakfast very nice
Review 109:Some difficulty turning some lights off!!
Review 110:Friendly helpful staff Fantastic restaurant
Review 111:Open plan shower in room Not enough light in room
Review 112:The central position Close to bars/shops/restaurants Friendly staff
Review 113:lack of light in bedroom
Review 114:Breakfast Staff Position Quirky
Review 115:Leaving Orta!
Review 116:The staff were amazing, the facilities were great, the location perfect, the breakfasts outstanding, and the rooms very cool.
Review 117:Pillows are hard and shower design means that water spills over the floor of the room.
Review 118:Good location in Lake Orta. Excellent breakfast. Helpful staff
