Reviews for Les Tanneurs

Review 1:The only slight concerns and they were very slight, were the parking, which was limited, and the slight lack of sound proofing.

Review 2:Great location in the middle of Namur, very atmospheric old Tannery and every room is hugely different. Well finished and comfortably furnished. The Grill is superb too, offering delicious food at well below par for Belgium prices!

Review 3:Unbelievable amount of muquito's in the room which were obviously very disturbing during the night

Review 4:Good Grill restaurant, large and clean room, good breakfest - finally a restaurant with genuine fresh orange juice instead of prepacked stuff plus a genuine baked egg instead of egg powder with water which is often used by hotels!

Review 5:room had not been cleaned nor the bedding changed when we arrived. no shower screen enclosure over bath so room flooded. despite asking in grill restaurant in the afternoon about vegetarian options and being told "no problem", the only offer which was available was a pasta dish (overcooked) and a tomato sauce from the steak accompaniments. .

Review 6:interesting building; good location

Review 7:Our room on the top floor had a very low ceiling. Few rooms in the hotel have walk-in showers.

Review 8:Characterful hotel in central location with excellent restaurant

Review 9:We didn't have any bad experiences. It was a very pleasant stay.

Review 10:The receptionist offered us an alternative to the room that had been allocated, which we accepted. He was very polite and customer-oriented. The semi-retired guy on breakfast duty was really friendly and helpful.

Review 11:Visitors need to be aware that the rooms all have internal marble steps as beds, baths and toilets are all on different levels. Parking is very limited.

Review 12:The grill room was excellent. A very quirky interior but of a high standard.

Review 13:Eaten alive by mozzies in room - view from bedroom window was of a unfinished block of flats, about 3 metres away - dingy dark dirty alley to get to hotel - would not go any where near the place

Review 14:Location is convenient but not attractive in any way, hotel is down a small narrow side street.

Review 15:Very friendly and helpful staff. Hotel has lots of character. Clean throughout.

Review 16:fantastic place, historical building lovingly restorated, individual rooms in different ancient houses, all made into one hotel, as the place is ancient some of the are accesible only by ancient stairs. great experience, also michelin restaurant affiliated and in same complex

Review 17:Staircases and access difficult with luggage. Came down for breakfast and nobody there so went without.

Review 18:Nice old character building in central location. Room and bathroom nicely done

Review 19:The first room we had was very near to the restaurant and we could hear a lot of noise and chairs scraping during the evening service.

Review 20:The hotel is just a short walk from the town centre, the rooms were very spacious with a sitting area and decent sized en-suite. This was a one-night stop-over on the way to France, however we enjoyed this hotel so much that we booked in again a week later for another stop-over on our way back. As this is a converted tannery the rooms were very individual and characterful. We will definately stay here again if in the area.

Review 21:Could not pay in cash only card.

Review 22:Room really big with exceptionally nice bathroom! Nice features and decor. The Gril restaurant very good with open wood fire. Good menu not too expensive, very nice staff. Free parking.

Review 23:Only a bath to shower in and had to hold the hose while showering. Hardly any wall plugs in the room to charge mobile devices.

Review 24:Spacious room, friendly staff (although not all English speaking), free parking.

Review 25:We read something about mosquitos in a previous review on room 118, but didn't worry about it that much... How wrong could we be!!! Our 2 month old daughter ended up being bitten over 150 times (yes, we counted!) during the night and looked like she has chickenpox. My wife and I got bitten quite a bit was well but we felt really bad about our little baby girl. Again, this is something other people have mentioned in reviews so this must be known by the hotel owner! In fairness, we got a rebate when we complained, but we much rather had paid the full amount and no mosquitos in the room! Another thing; the left bed in room 118 squeaks like crazy.

Review 26:Location is central

Review 27:I would not usually be so specific in my description and I am always very conscious to be extremely fair with my reviews. However, sadly I feel I need to warn others of our costly mistake. The first impression of Les Tanneurs was a renovated building in a very narrow back lane surrounded by other on-going building work. When we approached the reception initially the area looked small but quite grand. However, the staff member on reception was incredibly arrogant and rude. As an immediate impression he left me feeling quite intimated. After eventually getting the direction for the car parking from the 'reluctant' receptionist we were able to check in and went to our room. It was another disappointment. The room was on two levels with a metal spiral stairway to the bed (it was a little precarious trying to descend through the night to use the bathroom). The room furniture was shabby, there was no coffee & tea making facilities. There was a mini bar with the usual expensive bottles of water/soda. The bathroom was large but had an old damp and smelly aroma. The facilities provided were 3 tiny bottles of shampoo only and old well-worn towels only 1 x bath and 2 x hand & 2 x disposable plastic cups. As the room was sold to us as a Spa room there was nothing that made it feel welcoming as a Spa experience. There was a tiny balcony which had very tatty furniture 1 x wooden chair and a tiny table with a view of a brick wall. It was so small there was only room for one person. Guess it was more a smoking area. The hotel has a couple of restaurants that seem to boost the rating as one carries an award. They were fully booked so as a resident we could not use. As a consequence the noise from the customers coming and going to the restaurants was on-going late into the night. Then through the early hours the back lane seemed to be the walkway for all the drunks as shouting and screeching went on all night.

Review 28:Sadly we cannot say that we liked any of the experience that we had at Les Tanneurs.

Review 29:Nothing. Will definitely return.

Review 30:Really well done conversion of the old building to a modern hotel with good facilities but losing none of the atmosphere. Very good restaurant with friendly staff everywhere. Well organised parking and away from main roads.

Review 31:No shower in bathroom. In a bathroom with a Sauna!

Review 32:Sauna in room!

Review 33:Nice old authentic well maintained building

Review 34:Open plan bedroom/ bathroom..shower over bath..

Review 43:The hotel is superb if you love historic buildings as I do.

Review 44:Great location. Interesting building. Helpful staff.

Review 45:Nice rooms good food free parking stylish hotel

Review 46:A very romantic room

Review 47:No bathrobes, no feet coverage no easy chair in bathroom.

Review 48:Completeness with jacuzzi and sauna

Review 49:Nothing really

Review 50:Every thing including the style of the building and the location 5 min walking distance from city center

Review 51:Wifi connection was slow

Review 52:Great bedroom and bathroom Nice architecture

Review 53:Car parking pot luck Lack of hot water to bath

Review 54:Quirkiness of transformation Convenient location Excellent food

Review 55:Can sometimes hear people moving around the hallway, no shower: had to squat in bathtub

Review 56:Lots of character, fantastic dinner and breakfast, comfy bed.

Review 57:My room

Review 58:Facilities were excellent, like sauna in the room and a private balcony. Very special and delicate renovation of an old building into a modern hotel.

Review 59:No airconditioning, it was quiet warm in the room.

Review 60:Fine reception, took immediate care of parking problem. Fantastic restored old building, in part the old town. Real luxury room. Fine bed and bathroom. Excellent dinner in Grill restaurant. Very good breakfast. Great hotel for a city trip or vacation. Absolute vallue for money!

Review 61:Everything, its hard to tell where to start. The staff was very help full with checking in. My wife and I were really surprised with the room, it was amazing. Best room i have ever booked, and for the money it was worth it. the location was blocks from from the center, easy walking around the area.

Review 62:Usually I am quite generous with my reviews but here I must react.!! Be careful!! !! Our stay was a stop, until our next destination. We were given a nice big room indeed, but close to their local restaurant. between the restaurant and our room, there was a service corridor only used for staff. The restaurant being very successful, there was endless noise until very late in the night. Even after customers left, personnel had to work still and use this service corridor. There was no other issue than to wait.... our child was asleep (far from the main room entrance door)... and we could not have asked for a different room. Giving us such a room (without knowing that we would not be in a quiet place) makes the staff also responsible. It does not matter whether my room had 35m2, tv, big bath tub ...... No matter how many stars a hotel has, what you expect is "to sleep".!! My wife and me could not sleep..... you cannot rent out such a room, thinking "anyway these people wont come back anymore". --- not super clean either and smelly bathroom..... never again (avoid room 110)

Review 63:Arrived late but staff squeezed us into fully booked restaurant. Fab freely upgraded rooms. Staff could not have been more pleasant, accommodating or welcoming. Car park full but concierge moved our car into a space when it became free (with our permission) during our meal. Would return anytime.

Review 64:Restaurant next to looked very posh - dress for the occasion - not great when arriving late and want something small to eat.

Review 65:The spa bath! Layout of room with the bath in the room and the bed up the stairs Possibly the most beautiful hotel I've stayed in Staff were friendly and English speaking

Review 66:Car park is a little small and difficult to park in

Review 67:The restaurant is incredible, breakfast is great too. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, and very good value.

Review 68:Turning stairs are difficult to navigate with heavy luggage (and in our case an 11 month old baby on the arm).

Review 69:The hotel is built in an old tannery and it is a fantastic building conserving the beautiful old elements of the building and still delivering a top notch modern and luxury setting.

Review 70:Because it was not a conventional hotel but was remodeled from a Tannery, stairs and walkways were a bit difficult. Not recommended for travellers who have difficulty in walking.

Review 71:The room and the bathroom were big and spacious. The hotel itself has interesting history and characters. Both restaurants were, however, the highlight for me. They were both serving great food and at very reasonably priced.

Review 72:An almost perfect hotel (unless you need to avoid stairs as there are 3-4 stairs every now and then). I would love it though if the staff could smile a little.

Review 73:Some of the hallways and stairs are a bit narrow com uneven in parts for some, but that is part of the charm. Bathroom fittings starting to look tired.

Review 74:Love the style of this hotel. Choice of restaurant - gourmet or grill - both very impressive.

Review 75:Too long a wait between courses in restaurant (more than 30 minutes!) I had only half glasses of the wine arrangement and they charged the full amount. Strange way to get to your room.

Review 76:location

Review 77:Wifi was not very fast.

Review 78:Room was clean and comfortable.

Review 79:problem with water in the bathroom was not managed to find a solution
