Reviews for Vulcano Blu Residence
Review 1:Mosquitoes everywhere !!! This really preventend us from enjoying the facilities, all the more vecause there was no mosquito mesh on the windows/doors :(
Review 2:There is a nice pool and we had a nice view over the bay.also, the staff drives you to and from the port.
Review 3:Wifi not available in the rooms
Review 4:Staff were very nice. The free transport to the port was nice too. The pool is fantastic. Situated away from the mud barhs which stink like hell
Review 5:Price quality is very poor. We expecxted a hotel room in a hotel, it was a very small 2 bedroom appartment with small balcony. By far the worst price /quality we have had in the last 4 years of holidays in Italy
Review 6:Swiming pool is nice as pictured. The remainder was disappointing
Review 7:Extremely helpful and friendly staff, wonderful view, great pool and breakfast area and nice little beach all with direct view onto volcano, quiet place only 15 minute walk away from village in private resort. Ideal for both (family) leisure and business/education trips with large group, shuttle service from/to ferry, perfect for visitors who want to experience different activities (ocean, hiking on volcano)
Review 8:the apartment was okay and well maintained but located in an apartment complex which seems abandoned and falling apart Not inviting to stay, to get to the pool you need to walk 200 meters past deteriorating houses and gardens On the whole a negative surprise
Review 9:very friendly, helpful staff beautiful pool which unfortunately do not compensate for the negative points
Review 10:Our signals crossed for pick up at ferry dock and we ended up hiking the mile or more to the place at 8:15 pm., in the dark with only Google maps which led us to a dump site. Mercifully we saw someone who helped us find the place. It was 8:55 pm. Giacomo's cell number was listed. We called. He came right away. He spoke NO English. So, it was too bad that it was not made clear that you MUST arrange for pick up. No taxis were available either. The kayaking with Eugenio was fabulous.
Review 11:The proximity to Sicily Kayaking was the deciding factor for choosing this place. It is remote even in this remote place. Room was spacious. Nice porch to hang laundry.
Review 12:The apartments could be cleaner, the provided cooking utensils are so-so, no dish detergent is provided. The furniture and bed are subpar, but this is also part of the charm. Also, residents are not very responsible in their way of treating garbage, but that seems to be a general problem in Italy.
Review 13:Great facilities with pool and bar, very nice private beach with sunbeds (free in September), excellent air conditioner, convenient kitchenette (and shopping opportunities on Vulcan are excellent, check the fish and meat stores if you are a passionate cook!), a kayak school and rental service directly at the beach. Because its an apartment, you have the feeling of privacy and tranquility which would be not possible in a typical hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. It might seem that the apartments are located far from the port and the city, but in fact it is only 15-20 minutes walking distance. They also provide free transfer and regular shuttle service to the port. All in all, a great place to stay on Vulcano! Tip: if you walk to the end of the road, there is a very nice viewpoint; great place to enjoy a sunrise!
Review 14:Not so comfortable mattresses. The entire consortium needs some fresh paint.
Review 15:Fantastic staff, very helpful, fetching you and re-accompanying you at the ferries, whatever the hour. Spectacular swimming pool by the sea.
Review 16:We went in September but had we gone in August we would have had to pay 15euro to use the pool
Review 17:Beautiful pool and private beach. The staff were lovely and extremely helpful and there was a free transfer to and from the port.
Review 18:the rooms looked very shabby from outside they are in need of a paint and a make over as it feels like you have gone back 3 decades. there could be improvement on the actual food of the breakfast
Review 19:the rooms were comfortable in size plus airconditioning fully functional. the pool area is the most time were one would spend his time as there is free wi fi plus the view. also i used to love the breakfast in the morning with the music going
Review 20:Had to pay to use the pool and for sun beds ,also there was no airconditioning which made sleeping unbearable and could not open any windows as the place was full of Mosquitos.
Review 21:Lovely pool but you had to purchase and wear a swimming hat which seemed pretty pointless .
Review 22:Easy to find, nice place with excellent view. Friendly atmosphere, staff hospitality and appropriate infrastructure. General cleanliness, both in rooms and external facilities. Portfolio of provided services. Regular transfer to city center.
Review 23:Location too far away from village/beach. You have to rely on the provided shuttles 6 times a day or pay for a 15 Euro taxi ride. Apartment in serious need of refurbishment. Access to pool and closest beach subject to daily fee.
Review 24:Staff was very friendly and very helpful.
Review 25:They should take more care of the buildings, they looks alike a little abandoned. Maybe wifi also in the rooms would be nice
Review 26:The pool is amazing, the residence is surrounded by nature, the apartments are nice new and very clean! The staff is very welcoming and always available. They offer free shuttle to the center town, even if it's just a 10 minutes walk!
Review 27:The showers in the rooms were a little small, as was the toilet area (quite cramped) but this was a very small down side to an excellent facility
Review 28:The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The pool area was outstanding and superbly clean. Fantastic sun beds and Mario, the attendant at pool side, was super attentive. Check in and out process was easy and Filippo, the receptionist, was extremely efficient and spoke brilliant English, which was handy! The shuttle to and from town was a welcome addition to their already great service!!
Review 29:The beach is tiny, but the swimming pool is great, so we didn't mind. We just went to the beach in town (Spiaggia Sabbia Nera). The only thing I didn't like was that we didn't have air conditioned in our little house, and I found it very hot for sleeping, even with the fan on. Anyway, as it was a 2-story house, I slept on the ground floor, that was so much cooler.
Review 30:Beautiful swimming pool with an awesome view. The staff was very accomodating and helpful, for example, we arrived early in the morning, check in is in the afternoon but they had our room ready in about an hour, and all this time we were just swimming in the pool, it was great! We were traveling with 3 young children, so I was worried because the hotel is away from town, but they have an scheduled shuttle bus that runs at convenient hours. Also, the morning we wanted to go up the volcano, they drove us to the base, and then went to pick us up when we were back in town, thank you SO MUCH! The paninis and salads we had in the area close to the swimming pool were VERY good.
Review 31:Our room had no air conditioner but the fans made it comfortable at night
Review 32:Pool made the entire trip amazing. Staff was amazing. We were met at ferry by the van. Scheduled shuttle Was perfect to get into town to shop or go to the fangi or beach. The Terrance on our unit was massive. Bigger than the 2 bedroom apartment sq meter wise. Bar was Priced good and the expresso was strong.
Review 33:Very helpful staff! A young gentleman at the reception speaks perfect English! Convenient transfers to/from the port/center. Fantastic pool with salted and really warm water!
Review 34:- grab some anti-mosquitoes spray with you, looks like mosquitoes love the island as much as I did - don't expect WiFi all over the place, is available only at the reception & pool; you came to relax afterall :)
Review 35:- very good connection with Sicilly via speed boats all day long; even better, stuff from resort can arrange you entire transfer from/to Catania airport in Sicilly - people are more than friendly and work hard to make you feel welcome - pool is perfect, it looks very nice in pictures but is even more beatiful in reality; you have direct view to "smoking" vulcano crater and access to a very cosy private beach where you can swim in the sea - cold beer, wine, etc. served at the pool bar helps you "hydrate" your body right at the pool during a hot day - in case you are too lasy to walk, shuttle service from resort to island port is available every 2 hours - don't miss "the lighthouse of the Mediterranean"!!! get a night trip by boat to Stromboli and watch the active volcano spitting lava all the way down to the sea
Review 36:Wonderful Location, Shuttle Bus
Review 37:Apartment decor a bit in need of refresh.
Review 38:Friendly, helpful staff. Lovely pool. Free shuttle to village / port.
Review 39:The shuttle is not really reliable. No kitchen cleaning agents and the like.
Review 40:Clean and quiet place. Nice bathroom and kitchen.
Review 41:too expensive for what it is , no proper air con.
Review 42:situated in a great place and met my needs for that time
Review 43:Unfortunatelly no air conditioning in the rooms, next restaurant 2 km far in Porto Levante.
Review 44:Pool and Region were wunderfull. The staff very friendly!
Review 45:Quiet location, a short walk to town, but convenient for kayaking. Great pool, friendly staff.
Review 46:Super friendly, knowledgeable and helpful staff
Review 47:accomodation
Review 48:sea kajak was great. Pool lovely.
Review 49:Nothing.
Review 50:Great location for starting sea kyaking. Lots of space. Friendly and helpful staff. And a massive balcony for a family of five.
Review 51:Staff were very hard working, courteous and very professional - thanks making our stay so enjoyable.
Review 52:Beautiful place and view on the sea, quiet and relax, very polite staff. Time has new dimension on the Vulcano
Review 53:The apartment ,the staff ,the pool everything is great Gracie
Review 54:Nothing, it was a fabulous stay.
Review 55:The pool is amazing - stunning views and with it's own jet spas too. Plenty of sun loungers and a bar by the pool. We didn't want to leave! The staff were really helpful, spoke some English and helped us plan the next part of trip, picked us up on arrival and drove us to catch an early ferry on the day we left. We'll definitely be back!
Review 56:The staff were great, they even laid a table up and gave us a free lunch by the pool, a great gesture and much appreciated. We liked the location and had a view of the sea & the volcano from our apartment. Its a 10/15 min walk to town (take a torch if walking when dark), the hotel picks up & drops off in town most of the time. Would definitely recommend.
Review 57:The staff was very friendly and the place was well kept. The pool is an amazing oasis on this beautiful rustic island. We were very impressed and would recommend this property to anyone looking for the ultimate Vulcano experience.
Review 58:That I never once saw any cleaning staff....(except when my neighbors left and my lunch and I were covered in sweepings when the cleaner swept off the outside window next to my terrace) I was there for four days and no one came to clean or change linens......maybe not to be expected ....no lo so????
Review 59:The pool is just as in the photos! Reception and Bar staff and driver are welcoming and just fabulous. Very informative and happy to help out as much as possible...
Review 60:The beach is not very big and it's rocky. But the pool more than makes up for it.
Review 61:The pool was amazing, staff was the best staff I've dealt with ever. Free shuttle will pick you up until 2200. Very accommodating, said they would supply a grill if we returned. Loved this hotel.
Review 62:The staff was very friendly and offered a free shuttle ride to and from the town center to the hotel. The pool and view from the pool was amazing. The rooms are clean, spacious, and fully stocked with plates, silverware, and pots and pans.
Review 63:Some of the app's were scruffy, right next to ours were a couple of roofless ones
Review 64:The pool; although our appartment was a 5 min walk away. New and functional aircon and isolation-glass
Review 65:Single uncomfortable beds put together as double.Staff very friendly but cant really speak english. We had no roaming coverege in the room and wifi is only avail in the reception.
Review 66:Great pool.Scenic view decent clean rooms.good location (good to have your own car as its not very close to the village)
Review 67:no complaint at all.
Review 68:Excellent friendly staff. Picked up from the ferry port and a lovely coastal setting. Apartments are spacious with every amenity. Lovely outside cooking area and balcony. Shuttle to port.
Review 69:No screens on the doors/windows and no A/C in the room so it was just too hot to sleep beginning of September. Mattresses a bit worn out.
Review 70:Staff is very friendly and helpful even coming with us to the bike rental to help translate. Very nice pool with wonderful views.
Review 71:The staff was very helpful, the swimming pool was fantastic and the view - awesome and incredible! The apartament was in a very quiet and beautiful area. The Vulcano Island is amazing - so many things to do and see!
Review 72:The best residence in Vulcano, with privat beach outside the public beaches!!! + privat swimming pool, family ownered..Near terme vulcano, clean, perfekt servis..., Residence ist village with separatly bungalows, romantic atmosphere.., we will be comming again. Grazie per tuto, we stay 3 weeks there and we enjoy the relax time.
Review 73:The pool area was great with a stunning view over the bay. The snack bar served excellent salads and paninis for lunch. The accommodation was spartan but clean and comfortable and well-designed so that you stay cool even at the hottest part of the day. The staff were very helpful and considerate and the shuttle bus down to the town is a great benefit. Ring or e-mail ahead and they will pick you up from the ferry when you arrive.
Review 74:A bit out of center, but hotel staff could drop off or pick up you from any location in Vulcano free of charge.
Review 75:Spacious rooms, comfortable kitchen for longer stay, big terrace, very nice pool. Very good value for money. See kayak base on site.
Review 76:It takes about 20 min to walk to the town, but that wasn't a major problem.
Review 77:I really liked the set up, the self-catering accommodation, the studio was quite spacious and comfortable, with beautiful view from the terrace. The staff members were very friendly and helpful.
Review 78:The view from the sea water pool is stunning. In May it is quiet and wonderfully relaxing. The perfect place to sta on Vulcano. Friendly, helpful staff.
Review 79:Blu is situated about 1km from the port of Vulcano. The staff speakEnglish and they were only to happy to send the shuttle bus to collectus and our luggage. The Hotel is actually a large collection ofspacious, full equipped apartments, ie cooker, utensils etc. Thebathroom was spotless as was the rest of the apartment. The pool areawas a very short walk from our apartment, with an infinity pool overlooking the sea and the smoking Sulphar volcano in the back ground. Hereyou will find seating outside and undercover for breakfast and coffee orif you are using the pool all day, the opportunity to get refreshments. The surrounding grounds are very green and are planted with palms andother sun loving plants giving it a very tropical feel. The chap onreception has connections with a restaurant in the centre. (I use theword "centre", loosely as it is no more than a few hundredmetres square). You meet the shuttle bus at reception and he will driveyou to within 10 metres of the restaurant door. Meat and fish with veryattentive service. Hotel reception had already organised our collectionfrom the restaurant, back to the hotel, at the time that suited us. Ifyou choose to walk back to the complex (about 20 minutes), you pass amultitude of people on foot, bikes, mopeds and Citroen's equivalentof a golf buggy. Car hire is pointless unless you wish to explore theisland, which is approximately 5 miles end to end. Our apartment waswell placed for the famous sulpher mud baths and the black sand beach. Iwould not hesitate to recommend this complex for a place to stay. If youlike "doing things", then Vulcano with its water sports etc isthe place. The complex has a canoe hire centre a few metres from thepool. If you would like a mostly easy climb to the summit (1300 metre),just meet the bus at reception and they'll drop you at the footpathat the base of the mountain. Nothing was a problem.
Review 80:Pre or early season has its challenges. It would have been better if Ihad a full shower of hot water. My impression is that it is a resort inneed of attention, but it would be more fair to rate it when it wasoperating at a busier time of year.
Review 81:I got a lot of room for the price I paid; more like a bachelor suite. Iwas comfortable and the room was clean. My stay was well before touristseason began, and the resort was not yet in full operation. I purposelystayed at Vulcano Blu prior to a kayak trip that would begin on the sameproperty. Others might find it a bit remote at the same time of year. Iliked the staff. They seemed to care, and they were very pleasant.
Review 82:deserted out of season, needed to phone every time I needed to speak to staff, hot water didn't last very long in shower. Long walk to harbour ,large areas of walk unlit, poor signposting from harbour to hotel
Review 83:nice view from first floor appartment to beach and mountains
Review 84:no hair dryer no wifi in room
Review 85:they have a really nice swimming pool ! good service!
Review 86:we liked the nature enviroment
Review 87:no wi fi in the room
Review 88:staff really cool
Review 89:Distance from town to walk.
Review 90:Awesome facilities,bush setting,great villas,friendly help full staff.
Review 91:The staff was amazing! Friendly, helpful and available to drive us down to town when needed. it was a wonderful, relaxing few days on the island.
Review 92:general condition of the site very poor, difficult to reach if you have arranged no pick up
Review 93:site,staff when available
