Reviews for Touchwood Cottages
Review 1:It was private & We loved the personal touches in the cottage it was roomy comfortable & had everything that you could possibly want the owners are lovely people & we enjoyed our stay very much would have been a great place to stay longer
Review 2:Our stay coincided with a wild stormy night and the heating was not quite up to the task.
Review 3:Every detail to ensure a comfortable stay had been thought of Including complimentary excellent coffee at the onsite cafe to port and chocolates in the accommodation. It was the perfect ratio of old and modern in the one setting.
Review 4:The shower temperature was a little tricky (too hot or too cold) but it's an old cottage so next time we'll stay two nights at least, then there'll time for a bath!
Review 5:The cottage's quaint architecture, the brass beds, the antiques, the memorabilia, the little knick knacks, the chocolates, the Port… so much attention to detail! Complimentary coffee & cake in the cafe attached, great breakfast provisions, great hospitality!
Review 6:Nothing. We liked the place.
Review 7:Wonderful character cottage, roomy with good facilities. Not fancy but authentic and full of character. Very clean and well presented and excellent value for money. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay and would go back any time
Review 8:Shops and cafes in Stanley close on Mondays, which happened to be the day we were there.
Review 9:Our cottage was just beautiful. Kathleen and Trevor's extra touches were the icing on the cake. Port and chocolates, lolly bowl, breakfast condiments lovingly prepared on little cut glass dishes, umbrellas at the front door... even a hair straightener in the bathroom. Our hosts really go the extra mile to provide the best possible experience for their guests. After we left and headed towards Cradle Mountain we received a call from Trevor making sure we were OK. He had noticed oil leaking from our rental car as we drove out and wanted to make sure we hadn't broken down. If Trevor hadn't called we would have found out the hard way that our car was almost out of oil. For that, we are especially grateful. More than highly recommend this property. Stanley was our favourite spot for this Tassie trip.
Review 10:Unfortunately we didn't get to taste Kathy's famous muffins
Review 11:Clean, welcoming and comfortable. Best part was light in our own fire and sipping on port, playing board games in the lounge in the evening
Review 12:Heritage bed a bit short and small for modern tastes. But ok.
Review 13:Heritage Ambiance Wood fire in traditional kitchen Breakfast supplies Muffins on arrival Well appointed bathroom
Review 14:We absolutely loved our stay at Touchwood Cottages. The decor furniture and attention to detail was outstanding. We were sad to leave. We stayed in the studio cottage, and it was very spacious and sumptuous. The host has a flair for hospitality.
Review 15:Warm and welcoming, cottage was just like staying in someone's own home. Table beautifully set, afternoon tea waiting. Perfect pillows on bed. Immaculate.
Review 16:The setting of the cottage in the township was close to shops, cafes and restaurants. Beautiful views from cottage. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was excellent and generous with catering for gluten free diet no problem at all. It made our stay in Stanley most enjoyable.
Review 17:My husband is tall so he struggled a bit with the shower (but that is a common complaint) and with the ceiling height in the upstairs loft room (but I loved it)!
Review 18:The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived with the r/c aircon on, and the wood fire all prepared ready to light. The best ever homemade blueberry muffins were waiting on the dining table ready to have with a coffee. We loved our stay & will definitely stay again.
Review 19:There wasn't anything we didn't like. To maximise options, having the downstairs bedroom offering two singles or a king bed would offer greater flexibility to travellers. But this did not really bother us for the one night.
Review 20:The welcoming and thoughtful touches, with afternoon tea laid out for us on arrival and a very cosy decor which immediately encouraged us to relax and feel at home.
Review 21:The staff provided us with an outside table and chairs to enjoy the evening outside under the "Nut" with our collection of Tassie fine foods and wine
Review 22:The little touches of authenticity. Gorgeous cottage with the feel of history but modern comfort. I would recommend to anyone. Fabulous view of the Nut.
Review 23:The hosts were very helpful and had included extra touches upon arrival such as afternoon tea ready for us upon arrival. The view was great and the accommodation very clean and comfortable. I highly recommend staying here.
Review 24:We weren't aware that our bedroom was of the loft type with a steeply sloping roof on two sides -(this was not mentioned in any of the advertising), so we had to crouch over when moving around the room & were often banging our heads on the roof. If we had been aware of this we would not have booked this unit, so I think it should be mentioned in the advertising, particularly for seniors (which we are).
Review 25:Central location in Stanley and good facilities, with a great view from the lounge windows. Great welcome pack with lovely fresh muffins and breakfast provisions.
Review 26:A bit noisy with the cafe next door but they close at 5pm
Review 27:Owners super friendly, house beautiful, charming and clean. Facilities abundant, muffins waiting on our arrival a nice touch

Review 29:The wonderful hosts particularly Kathy's muffins! The spectacular view of the Nut. The furnishings and comfort of the cottage we stayed in. Privacy. Peace.
Review 30:From the beautifully appointed room to the inclusion of bathrobes for guests to the generous breakfast provisions, Touchwood exceeded expectations. From now on, we won't be staying anywhere else and we have already booked our return stay for next year.
Review 31:Nothing to dislike.
Review 32:I liked the little extra touches provided by the owners, including freshly baked cakes on my arrival and breakfast ingredients in the fridge. One of the best nights sleep I have ever had.
Review 33:Location, quaintness of cottage; a delightful stay. Wish it could have been for longer but we'll be back, I'm sure. Stanley is a must to visit.
Review 34:I had a serious medical problem requiring urgent treatment and had to cancel booking 12 days before booking. Property owner would not negotiate a changed date and said we would be charged full rate if room was not resold. Was charged the full rate despite the fact that no cleaning or bed changes needed or breakfasts provided after our no show. We travel regularly within Tas including Stanley but will choose other properties there where we have previously had good service.
Review 35:The blinds let light at the edge right across the bed. Not that I tried but not sure of the gold rim plates in the microwave
Review 36:Little extras - muffins, bread, jam, juice, fruit and eggs. Owners very friendly and helpful with great gallery and laundry facilities.
Review 37:The ceiling height in the upstairs bedroom (pine cottage) under the sloping roofline - not so good for tall people.

Review 88:Main bedroom in the attic, kept bumping our heads on the ceiling.
Review 89:A charming comfortable air conditioned cottage with generous breakfast provisions, tastefully decorated and close to all amenities.
Review 90:Fewer ornaments and an explanation of the soldier (WW1) in the lounge room. Mind you that is an obsession with me.
Review 91:Absolutely wonderful greetings with Trevor and muffins and chocolate slice for late afternoon tea. Dinner of duck from the Cafe. Non intrusive, snug and more tan expected.
Review 92:The cottage was cosy, the view was spectacular+ we loved the extra little homely touches of muffins and breakfast ingredients supplied. Very friendly owners.
