Reviews for Osteria Del Borgo B&B
Review 1:This suite was not the one pictured on their site, but on a lower floor without the skylight or valley view.
Review 2:It was a large suite with very comfortable bed, quiet, free parking, great restaurant downstairs and good continental style breakfast.
Review 3:Locat
Review 4:The location right on the square by the church. The view of the valley was fantastic. Their restaurant was the best in town. Nicest room in our 5 weeks in Europe.
Review 5:My husband and I enjoyed the family atmosphere. We stayed here for about a week and the location made it easy for us to take numerous day trips and come "home" for dinner. Warm and friendly owners and staff.

Review 7:First we had perfect lunch at Osteria and then went to see our room. The lunch was one of the best we had in Italy and we immediately reserved a table for the dinner. The guests of b&b have the discount at the restaurant. We received the keys of a big apartment with studio and kitchen and bedroom. The interior is beautiful and the apartment is comfortable.
Review 8:After experiencing car problems in Matera, we called the hotel to say wewould be arriving at midnight. The person on the phone, who I nowunderstand is the owner, did not speak English and kept sayingthat's too late. We ultimately arrived at 1am. The hotel was closedby this time and apparently they could not arrange for any kind of alate checkout. This is a small Tuscany town, not a crime capital ofEurope so it would not have been too much trouble for this hotel to makearrangements such as hiding a room key (we have had this done many yearsago by a hotel in France). We ended up sleeping in the car as we couldnot find any accommodation open at that time. We could have lived withthis - shit happens - but the real icing on the cake was in the morning, when it took the hotel 30 minutes to check us in and find our booking. Then upon finally finding the booking and recognising we are the latenight travellers - the son of the grumpy owner (who spoke some English)said his dad was disappointed - lol!!!! You can imagine, having slept inthe car, how ridiculous this sounded. They of course charged us for themissed night. We have spent 8 days in various parts of Tuscany and foundplenty nicer and more accommodating owners there - this grumpy andselfish owner was the exception to our experience. I do not intend tostay at this hotel for our next trip to Tuscany.
Review 9:Nothing really. Maybe a shower curtain around bath/spa as water goes everywhere but otherwise a good shower.
Review 10:We booked a suite and got an amazing tuscan style two level apartment with a fantastic view. Restaurant downstairs also has great food and staff helpful. Highly recommend
Review 11:Owners/staff all very friendly and helpful. Rustic large accommodation with stunning views. Meals in the restaurant very good. Great location to explore lots of lovely villages.
Review 12:There was no AC, but it wasn't too hot that day.
Review 13:Amazing location. Beautiful view, awesome building dating back to the 1300s in a perfect mountain getaway town. Staff was very helpful. Possibly my favorite place in Italy.
Review 14:Several flights up without lift but to be expected in such a special 14th C building and our heavy stuff was willingly carried up for us as a matter of course.
Review 15:Location and friendly family owners, great dinner, good price for 3 rooms. From our sitting room windows, watched rehearsal for festival event on stage in main square. Excellent cot provided.
Review 16:We could have had a "pre warning" about the access through the narrow streets- but we made it with no scratches on our van! Also, the reception "do not open" till 7pm (we arrived at 6.55 pm)
Review 17:The location is unique at the top of Montepulciano and the staff very friendly. Very charming apartment!
Review 18:? All good.
Review 19:Beauty of the place and the people. The food was delicious, wine excellent. And we particularly loved our sitting room, drinking a glass of wine and enjoying the sunset.
Review 20:Cleanliness was well below expectation, the shower head looked like it hadn't been scrubbed in ages, probably because there's no proper lighting in the shower
Review 21:The views from the room and the terrace at the restaurant are amazing! Dinner from the restaurant was one of the best meals I've had in Italy (incl. the wine!)
Review 22:Oversized apartment not needed for short stay. The promised view that is in all pictures was not given. Instead a room on first floor in opposite direction directly over the street and bar.
Review 23:Ok standard. in centre.
Review 24:Wi-fi was dodgy, it looks like they had issues due to bad weather the previous days. We were woken up by the noise of the neighbour on top of us, insulation is not the best...
Review 25:Central location, makes it easy to explore the town. Very friendly and helpful staff, they also had gluten-free bread and were happy to accommodate our needs. The suite is great, quite an historic building.
Review 26:NONE
Review 27:Warmth of welcome, friendliness of all staff, helpfullness with parking and upgrade to suite.Superb views and convenience to Contucci Cantina and the best steak we have ever had at Osteria dell'Acquacheta!
Review 28:Not a bad experience but if you can not negotiate lots of stairs, don't stay here as there is no elevator.
Review 29:Nice room, great view, good food, nice outside terrace to dine.
Review 30:The room with full kitchen, bath with whirlpool tub, and location were delightful! We enjoyed talking with Francesco and his dad who were friendly and did everything possible to create a memorable stay. Their restaurant downstairs was so delicious and convenient, that we ate there three times! Would definitely return!
Review 31:early am church bells, but adds to the charm Not enough staff at breakfast
Review 32:location was fantastic. Barbara worked front desk was a wealth of great information No street noise
Review 33:Poor breakfast. Lighting in bathroom not very good.
Review 34:Fabulous old building beautifully restored. Split-level room with seating area facing perfect Tuscan view. Friendly host Francesco and his father run the Osteria. Restaurant with good selection of local fine wines. Location right on the main piazza. The 'external private bathroom' just means you have to walk out into the corridor for 3 steps to reach your private (non-shared) bathroom, but the corridor only has one other room, and that has an en-suite bathroom, so in practice it is not a problem.
Review 35:We stayed in a three-bedroom apartment. It was wonderfully located in the beautiful hill town of Montepulciano. The apartments are owned by the restaurant on the first floor, where the food is fantastic.
Review 36:difficult to find, although it's not really a dislike. son's father drove me to where we parked, then I followed him into town.
Review 37:son spoke great English, was extremely helpful, courteous. made out stay very enjoyable. restaurant food was reasonably priced and the food was delicious
Review 38:no mirror in the room- bed too soft for me
Review 39:Staff- bathroom- clothes washer in my bathroom. Location and view were great- Staff was wonderful- over a fabulous restaurant
Review 40:Our room had an external bathroom with a shared corridor and also it's a little difficult to get here without paying the extra for a cab
Review 41:The location was amazing as was the town. The restaurant food was also very good and staff was helpful and knowledgeable
Review 42:Bed was pretty uncomfortable. No daily cleaning. Jacuzzi tub was wonderful but trying to take an actual shower was a bit challenging. None of this bothered us enough to prevent staying here again or recommending to others.
Review 43:My husband and I stayed here in the winter so we were the only guests, so I think our experience was a little different and more desolate than during the busy season. The suite was a one bedroom apartment which was huge, and the views were beyond breathtaking. The location was perfect, right off the main square. A great value all things considered.
Review 44:No one to clean your room each day. Bug problem!
Review 45:Staff was very friendly and helpful. Though only Francesco and his brother spoke english, we managed! Lots of space, nice 3 bedroom apartment.
Review 46:We missed the chance to live there due to some reason, the staff recommended another B&B which is perfect! Then we enjoyed the breakfast and perfect dinner in Osteria Del Borgo B&B! Thanks for your warm help! We also like your red wine very much!
Review 47:The location is at one corner of the main town square, the food and wine of the region is wonderful which is matched by the beauty of the location. Very relaxed atmosphere and friendly helpful staff.
Review 48:There are a lot of woodlice in the bedroom and the bathroom on the top floor. They need to do something to remove them.
Review 49:Very spacious accommodation and helpful staff. Excellent food at the restaurant. Breakfast was ok too. Superb location and handy having a parking space.
Review 50:I recently returned from a stay at Osteria del Borgo and have nothing but good things to say about the accommodations. My husband and I rented the 3 bedroom apartment with 2 other couples and we loved every minute of it! The apartment was so charming, the breakfast was delicious, and the views were incredible. The owners went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant. The food in their restaurant downstairs was excellent...we ate lunch there both days! Overall, we couldn't be more happy with our stay here. We will recommend Osterio del Borgo AND the town of Montepulciano to anyone visiting this region of Italy. We hope to return some day!
Review 51:apartment, although large, was a bit tired around the edges and could do with some care and attention.
Review 52:location, friendliness of staff and size of apartment were excellent.
Review 53:No air conditioning in the room, we visited in mid summer and it was very hot making it very uncomfortable to sleep in. If we had of been there during a cooler period I would of given this hotel 10/10. Also Although we had a private bathroom which was decorated to a high standard, we had to enter it via a shared hallway, would of been much nicer if it was adjoined from bedroom but this was something you could live with. It didn't by any means ruin the experience.
Review 54:Lovely rustic Tuscan hotel with Friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic restaurant with beautiful food and amazing view from the terrace area . Room was lovely in typical Tuscan style with separate seating area and again an absolutely amazing view from our window . Excellent value for money.
Review 55:Nothing
Review 56:Everything! The view was to die for, the staff were so friendly, the position was perfect - within walking distance to perfect cafés and wineries. The restaurant here though had the most amazing food and the best red wines. Ten out of ten! Definitely would love to go back!
Review 57:Stairs no elevator as normal on Italy.
Review 58:We let our gps take us in and we got stuck on a side street. I should have back up and let it recalculate the drive up the city but I decided to walk up. I found the hotel but lost the car. The owner took his own car and we went all around the town. Finally I was able to find the car and the hotel. The owner went way out of his way to help out as he was setting up for dinner. The location is right on the main plazza center and I parked 20 feet from the entrance. The food was cheap and best of the trip. Two best starters the grilled cheese with honey and nuts unbelievable the next was the potatoe stuffed ravioli with a wild boar bolenase. 4 full meals and desserts a full bottle of local wine. With discount €96.
Review 59:What a fantastic place - and wonderful people at the small reception and also in the Osteria. We definetely will come again and next time we will stay for sure longer. Tutto bene, mille Grazie!
Review 60:What's not to like.....perhaps the mattress could have been a bit more firm.
Review 61:The personal service of the family run B&B was great.... even assisted with lots of questions we had weeks before check in!!! Beautiful view from rustic style room as well as the taverna terrace! The Osteria had an inventive menu with local dishes, nicely prepared...and the waiter, Francesco was very helpful with wine selections. (Central location with free parking in the quaint town was a plus)
Review 62:The wifi was fairly weak and would disappear at times.
Review 63:The views from our room were amazing. The restaurant was delicious, as was the free breakfast and the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The room was very large and comfortable. Great location right off of the main square. Highly recommended!
Review 64:Shower was a bit complicated to operate. But I still adored this place!
Review 65:I absolutely adored montelpulciano and this place had a lot to do with it!! Friendly staff, beautiful rooms with extraordinary views, comfy bed and pillows, and a really great breakfast :)
Review 66:great apartment, in the perfect location. family run and they could not do more to help. you have to eat at their terrace restaurant, best food in town!
Review 67:The view, the warm, personal staff who went out of their way to accommodate our schedule, the service, the restaurant, and the building. Francesco and his father are to be commended as one of the best hosts during our entire Italy trip. My family had to attend a tour early the next day, Francesco made arrangements so that we would still be able to have a wonderful breakfast early for my family of 6!
Review 68:The location, friendly and helpful people.
Review 69:The location, the service and the rooms view was sensational. The food in the restaurant was excellent

Review 93:Only lukewarm water in the shower. It would be nice to have some glasses in the room.
Review 94:friendly and helpful service. Super clean and comfortable room.
Review 95:Friendly staff and great location!
Review 96:Rooms were dark. Old style tv on floor. Was not quite as nice as pictures.
Review 97:Unique location, great wine cellars.
Review 98:Location is amazing, nice staff, good restaurant on site. Would happily stay here again.
Review 99:We hoped to get a room with the view but unfortunately we didn't.
Review 100:Spacious apartement, friendly staff
Review 101:Thank you for the help with our bags upon arrival - very classy :)
Review 102:Warmth of people, location unbeatable, restaurant of high quality (wines included!)
Review 103:Has a great location; view from the terrace is wonderful. Francesco's knowledge of and advice re wines was a bonus as was the great restaurant.
Review 104:You cannot check in before 3pm. The breakfast was very poor. we were really looking forward to it, but left feeling disappointed.
Review 105:Location
Review 106:a bit noisy outside because of some kind of performance downstair.
Review 107:friendly staff, fully equipped kitchen.
Review 108:1) Good breakfast - continental 2) View of valley from our room 3) Location - situated in the centre of everything including restaurants, shops, museums. 4) Convenient Parking not far from hotel
Review 109:I had hoped for the suite with the view but that room was taken when we checked in. Would be nice to be able to reserve that specifically. It's a challenge to find if you haven't been there before but worth the journey.
Review 110:Charming spot and the owners were very wonderful. Good discount if you eat in their restaurant and the food was quite good.
Review 111:We only had 2 nights there..;(
Review 112:The great people and view from our room..the location was perfect.. Must be able to walk stairs... But we had no problems because the people where the best!!!!
Review 113:parking is a hassle...had one "reserved" spot for the hotel...a 10 min. walk away..if you can't get that, be prepared for a hike! breakfast was minimal
Review 114:good to be in the center of town; dinner also was good.
Review 115:Very, very poor breakfest, really small selection of food was served, no fresh bread, no cheese, just two slices of salami and prosciutto
Review 116:Very friendly people, location, nice view from our room
Review 117:Friendly, excellent service. Family run business. We ate at their restaurant that evening and the food was very good. The views from our room were spectacular,as well as from their bar terrace..
Review 118:If you rent a car, be prepared the streets in Montapulicano are narrow, steep and often, surprise, ONE WAY. Backing up, with a manual car, on a steep & narrow street and you will never forget it. Three nights here should do it all unless your really hooked on going to vineyards. Any town smaller would have been boring.
Review 119:The location was ideal, right on Piazza Grande. We stayed their and dined there. It's a family operation and everyone participates, no short cuts, it's lovely. They provide parking and breakfast, trust me not having parking would be terrible. The village/town is amazing for photography, the view from the hillside town is amazing. The city is cleaned daily, the street crews are up early.
