Reviews for Badia a Coltibuono
Review 1:The only thing we did not like was the bed, it felt like to beds pushed together with a seam down the middle.
Review 2:The history of the place, the staff, the wine, the food, the views, the peace and quiet, etc.
Review 3:The room was a little dirty.
Review 4:The location was great, the room had fantastic views and the restaurant was also very good. A really lovely ambience in the old monastery setting.
Review 5:Fancy a time-machine going back to centuries ago? Badia a Coltibuono can give you a feeling of staying at casa in the old days. The common rooms and breakfast area are just fabulous. We have a vintage-feel bedroom and a super-spacious bathroom. The view to the garden is spectacular. One should not miss the guided winery tour to the Abbey. The interesting stories told about the Abbey and the unbelievable wine library add colours to our stay. The restaurant next door offers good tasting menu with fantastic wine-pairing. There is a nice swimming pool at the far end of the site. We enjoyed very much our stay at Badia a Coltibuono! Highly recommended.
Review 6:It would be nice to have a small fridge in the room.
Review 7:Breakfast was excellent once fresh coffee had been made. Beautiful gardens. Friendly restaurant next door
Review 8:This place is exactly what everyone thinks of when they think "Tuscany"! Who wouldn't want to stay in a wonderfully preserved old Monestary and winrey built in 1070.
Review 9:Not important in such a place but wifi is poor in rooms.
Review 10:Abbey, Fresques, rooms, silence, restaurant, wines, cellary, close to A11 and gaiole in chianti.
Review 11:Loved the fact they produce their own fabulous Chianti's and Olive Oils! The wine & cellar tour was great and very interesting also! The staff were helpful and friendly and the restaurant served great food! Will be back again soon! We only stayed 1 night but would recommend minimum of 2! Patrizia is a fantastic host! Definitely think of doing a cooking course while you're there!!
Review 12:Lack of access of TV stations in the English language.

Review 21:Location is quite far. It is better to drive yourself.
Review 22:Nothing to say here.
Review 23:Large character bedroom and bathroom. Really lovely garden. Abbey tour and wine tasting superb. Very atmospheric

Review 26:Bathrooms' renovation is due.
Review 27:It's one of my fav places on Earth. :)
Review 28:Beautiful location beautiful grounds lovely staff lovely guests. We had a fine time
Review 29:Very noisy Americans The breakfast room was badly ventilated and cramped. It would have been good to have breakfast outside.
Review 30:The garden.
Review 31:Housekeeping has become too relaxed over the 20+ years since the greatlorenza d'ei medici had founded her italian cooking school. Herstandards were far higher. Hoping this next generation will take thatmanagement leap to uphold her legacy.
Review 32:Badia a coltibuono is consummate chianti classico, in a stunninglocation with amazing historic architecture and gardens that leave youtotally breathless. A "MUST SEE", with respect for the qualitative/trail-blazing Organic Winemaker, Roberto Stucchi. Terrific Restaurant, Pool inwarm months...Pure Tuscan Magic!
Review 33:My adult son and I visited this property after he finished a semester abroad in Europe. We drove from Florence to Badia a Coltibuono avoiding the highways through stunning Tuscan landscapes. The property's setting was beautiful and peaceful. We did the wine tour and ate two meals at the restaurant which is outstanding. I hiked on trails surrounding the property and my son enjoyed an afternoon by the pool. We had an early flight from Florence so we did not get to sample breakfast. There is not too much to do for a 21 year old but is a perfect respite for a couple of days.
Review 34:Nothing. Like it all very much.
Review 35:The abbey is some what isolated. That was the best part. Fortunately it was very quiet when we we there and I would highly suggest experiencing this place in the quieter seasons.
Review 36:Although I would never let a thing like that deter me from staying in wonderful Badia a Coltibuono, the wifi service was not functioning when we were there and the staff weren't able to fix it - if this is important to you, then you should be aware that connectivity may not be guaranteed. That said, they do provide a computer for common use, available at all hours, which is very useful and came very handy in our case.
Review 37:Everything was excellent in this wonderful and interesting B&B, converted from an old abbey. I think its location is probably in one of the most beautiful spots in Tuscany, with both woods all around as well as the trademark hills of cypresses and vines. Sure, there's nothing to do there - except trek, swim (when pool is open), stroll or lounge in the exquisite garden, visit the cellars and the church and soak in the wonderful atmosphere of the natural environment and the history of the place! What could you want more? The rooms were gorgeous, the amazing refectory had original frescoes and the delicious breakfast was served in a beautiful baroque room overlooking the gardens - it was like a fairytale.
Review 38:A cozy beautiful room, luxury leisure facilities. Great restaurant. Tours of the abbey and wine cellars, wine tasting with an excellent guide Sabrina was one of the most memorable experiences in Tuscany. Is a pity that we stayed only one night. We'll come back for sure!
Review 39:The food at the restaurant is good, the chef and the staff are nice and experienced. The staff at the hotel also very nice and experienced, the places are beautiful.
Review 40:Felt rather disjointed - B&B and restaurant not particularly joined up Given remote location lack of facilities - no bar (when we asked the reception said nothing although there was honesty fridge with drinks which we found and restaurant supposedly had bar service during the day), poor and v limited wifi Cramped bathroom despite huge room
Review 41:Location and views Associated restaurant served excellent food
Review 42:The internet connection is only provided in the common area; no Wi-Fiavailability in the rooms. The concierge was not helpful at all. Theyonly want to provide you with the services offered by them. If you askthem to assist you with other services outside of the hotel, for exampleother wine tasting and oil tasting tours, they would not help you. Theyonly want you to stay and take their tours. When I asked for anyassistance booking other tours they basically pointed to their guestcomputer and told me I could help myself. I felt trapped there. Thecommon area was so dusty with cobwebs that looked like they were therefor months. You could smell the dust it was so bad. The rugs look likethey had not been vacuumed in a long time. There was no ambient music inthe common area which made it seem so dreadful to even spend any time inthere. The lights were always off to conserve energy which made it evenmore dark and dreadful, not to mention very difficult to navigate thehotel at night. Every night when we got back from an evening out we hadmanually turn all the lights on because otherwise we were in what looklike a dark dungeon. There is absolutely nothing to do there. No tvanywhere. So make sure you have a good book with you. Although they havedogs around during the day that live at the hotel which is a nice touch, one of them incessantly barks all through the night, which isuncomfortable to say the least.
Review 43:I like the fact that it has a lot of history about it. The cooking classprovided at an additional cost is fantastic; this was our 2nd timeenrolling in the class. The breakfast was pretty good, particularly thefocaccia bread baked by Rosie. The garden is really nice and the frescosin the common area are a nice touch. The antique pieces that filled thehotel was amazing. The wine tour was good. Their wine cellar wasinteresting. The restaurant was also very nice.
Review 44:In the middle of August, it was hot without ac. We were there for twonights and had no maid service or fresh linens/towels.
Review 45:Beautiful setting and stunning old abbey. We have stayed here before andalways enjoy coming back. We had a lovely three bedroom apartment. Greatrestaurant.
Review 46:The nearest town isn't at easy reach from there so you need to use your car (if you ride bikes, all the roads are quite steep)
Review 47:the location is amazing, the atmosphere peaceful and relaxing.(no tv set in rooms!)The staff is friendly and professional.
Review 48:Nothing !
Review 49:The staffs are very friendly and helpful. They offer a comfort room with amazing views for travelers. The swimming pools in garden is very suitable for family with children to have a wonderful time. The breakfast in badia is very nice, and the dinner in Restaurant is the most cosy & delicious one we had in Tuscany.
Review 50:Badia a Coltibuono was wonderful! The rooms while older they were very spacious and comfortable. The location was perfect for day trips to Siena, Florence. The gardens are beautiful! Highly recommended!
Review 51:Incredible place. The converted 11th century abbey is beautiful in and of itself, not to mention the views. The garden is gorgeous and delightfully peaceful, the rooms are huge and the restaurant is a real treat. Oh yeah, and they make good wine, too.
Review 52:the bathroom wasn't terrific but very few old places have good bathrooms.
Review 53:I loved theloction. I would happily come back to Italy just to go to Badia a Boltibuono. Like all family run businesses there is that something extra. The gardens are beautiful, the view from our room down the valley was lovely, the restaurant provides top class food. I thought everything was perfect. It didn't offer luxury but it was a delightful experience and I can't wait to go back.
Review 54:Unfortunately, the weather was a bit rainy and cold while we were thereso we couldn't do the hikes or enjoy the beautiful gardens and pool.
Review 55:A former monastery that has an amazing history. All very interesting anda beautiful setting. Staff is excellent and Francesca and Andrea veryhelpful and offered great suggestions of things to see and do in thearea. I would highly suggest that you take the tour and wine tastingoffered of the property. It was very inforrmative and gave us a goodunderstanding of property. We would also recommend the Badia Restaurant.Excellent food and beautiful ambience. Most guests ate there every nightand non-guests do drive just to enjoy dinner there. A very specialproperty. I didn't do the cooking school because it was not offeredduring our 3 night stay, but the kitchen looked wonderful and many ofthe guests staying were taking the course on the day we were leaving.
