Review 1：We booked a lake view room and didn't get it, the room smelt so bad we had to wait nearly 3 hours for them to sort the overpowering smell out that made us feel sick. The outside bathroom was unpleasant throughout the stay and an ill thought out design! Finally showed to our room ,the smell was not much better so we opened all the doors and windows to try and help and we went back downstairs to avoid it. The hotel is sold as peaceful and tranquil....just as we were relaxing, now about 5pm, comes such a loud noise of speakers from next door we could hardly hear each other, we ask what's going on and are told its the church next door and it will last for 90 minutes!!! Then again at 5am!!! We could not order dinner until 7:30 and with no other diners in sight we were cautious, so we just ordered soup and a chicken burger, they were discusting! The soup had more salt in it than the Indian ocean and the burger was some sort of minced chicken in an inedible roll. The service was equally poor, no serviettes, not checked on and slow!! By now, so disappointed and close to crying we told the receptionist how bad it all was, he offered to take the soup off the bill. The manager was nowhere to be seen as soon as we starting to get problems, he greeted us on arrival then disappeared in to the not so tranquil forest! So put off we paid to go we elsewhere for breakfasts and couldn't wait to check out. Worst experience in Sri Lanka!

Review 3：Wifi was very hit and miss.My ground floor bathroom was partially outdoor, some mornings there was a slight smell from outside.

Review 4：The tranquility, architecture, its breathtaking surroundings... it truly is a very special place and the fact it only has 8 gorgeous rooms. The service and attentiveness of the staff was second to none. They felt like family and the hotel home from home.

Review 5：No WiFi in common/room no 101 and was not fixed during my entire stay,Guests smoked in the lobby,Restaurant, pool and every ware unlike any other hotel violating the rights and relaxation and endangering the health of my pregnant wife and my son due to face a heart surgery in early January 2016.This was informed to the management No relief provided until the whole stay has to wait till the smoking guests finishes their lunch? the MD,The GM,Rifan In house Staff kept quiet.I was informed that the smoking guests were MD's friends.We do not make reservations through booking.com to face situations like i faced.Room No 101 bath room has a Covered gate/door which was not padlocked door which was padlocked on my request,No guest expect to expose their private life to outsiders.The said door consist of wide gaps between the gate and the wall through which the bathing areas clearly visible to out sliders.Even though the said issues were mentioned to the in house staff till my departure the GM or MD failed to provide solutions to the difficulties i faced,No Laundry for 1 and 1/2 days laundry machine was out of service.Sri-Lankan Law is to have enclosed areas specifically for smoking if Roman Lake doesn't Respect the Law of the country,Rights of Children and Pregnant Ladies Please don't Reserve any space in Booking.com and ruin the relax and Leisure of the Guest,pleas treat the guests in equal standards.IF THE ROMAN LAKE IS RESTRICTED TO MD'S GUESTS AND SMOKERS PLEASE DON'T RUIN THE VACATIONS OF THE FAMILIES MAKING RESERVATIONS THROUGH BOOKING.COM AND COMING THE HOTEL ON BB.ROMAN LAKE MANAGEMENT RUINED MY WHOLE VACATION WITH POOR MANAGEMENT AND HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL AND UNEQUAL TREATMENT.ROMAN LAKE ADMINISTRATION TOOK NO EFFORT TO AVOID CONFRONTATIONS BETWEEN THE GUEST.HAD THE MANAGEMENT DECLARE SMOKING/ NON-SMOKING AREAS NO GUEST WOULD SMOKE IN COMMON AREAS.

Review 6：superb hospitality,mouthwatering food,breath taking views, highly recommended for relaxing .Except the General Manager the entire staff was very kind attentive and served my pregnant wife, my one year old son and my self in their best possible ways.over time the staff will be a very talented outfit.

Review 10：Roman Lake is a beautiful and luxurious hotel set in lush and tropical surroundings. Our room was fantastic and the hot tub on the balcony something really special. The staff were very friendly and pleased to help whenever possible. We would strongly recommend this hotel to those looking for a memorable stay in Sri Lanka.
