Reviews for Locanda Lo Scudo
Review 1:- "Breakfast". Being a bit rudimentary to say the least, in the fridge in the room. Coffee you have to collect from a vending machine downstairs with a €0.50 coin that is in the room. Not great from top floor. - Reception being closed from 15.00 until 17.30 is unhelpful especially if you've been travelling, though it is mentioned at time of booking. - Checkout being 10am is very early, bearing in mind the above checkin restrictions. Feels all a bit impersonal, as though the customer is an inconvenience...
Review 2:Clean, quiet location. Suited my needs.
Review 3:Happy to have breakfast in room but could have been a little more adventurous...it was very basic.
Review 4:The restaurant is amazing... Great food and service.
Review 5:If I had a criticism it would be a very minor one about the breakfast arrangements - a few basic bits and pieces in a fridge in the room and coffee from a vending machine outside.
Review 6:Everything ! I was particularly impressed that my room rate was reduced (without me asking) when I arrived solo - they had thought the booking was for 2. Beautiful clean, comfortable room.
Review 7:Booking confirmation said check in from 14.00 but when we arrived at 15.30 there was a note on the door saying reception opened at 18.00. We asked to check out at 11 am but we're told it had to be 10. Breakfast, left in fridge in room, was a packaged croissant each and one doughnut, plus one token for a coffee machine. Yoghurt and raspberries made it more adequate. This is really a restaurant with a few rooms above, so a shame they don't provide a better breakfast.
Review 8:Beautifully furnished room.
Review 9:Breakfast was pointless: sugary yoghurt, dry rusks in plastic packets plus a coffee machine in a gloomy room. Better to get a coffee and croissant in town.
Review 10:Great food (remember to book for dinner) and great location. Easy parking. Rooms are modern and comfortable. Good value.
Review 11:Most people have commented on the breakfast. It is a little odd but there are loads of ages where you can get a good coffee and pastry for breakfast.
Review 12:A gorgeous hotel in a wonderful location. The restaurant is incredible. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 13:Wonderful introduction or farewell to Italian holidays. Beatutifully located in the centre of historic town, excellent starting point to explore the streets and the castle hill. Hospitality and great restaurant. Very nice room . At first we felt uneasy about self-catering breakfast in the fridge, but then in the breakfast 'room-corridor' at one very big table we met two wonderful French families that we had over-one-hour breafast with. Then, we were ready to hit the road to the sea, with great start in Soave. We will return.
Review 14:Probably the breakfast. It didn't reflect the quality of the restaurant dinner. iIwould have paid more.
Review 15:Great location for Soave, Verona and Garda etc. free parking opposite and safe. Very comfortable rooms well decorated the owners had put a lot of themselves into the style and decorations...well done to them. lovely owners very helpful. Breakfast in mini bar was unusual but the evening meal was delightful and full of locals and busy, that says it all to me Highly recommend it. i will certainly use it again as i am an annual visitor.
Review 16:Nowhere to relax out-of-doors on "days off" from travelling. Strictly a place for a 2 or 3-day stopover because the Soave area can be welll-and-truly "done" in that time.
Review 17:A stylish bijou inn nestled beneath the walls of a fortified town (unfortunately the castle was closed during our three-day stay). The town is uncrowded but has convenient autostrada links allowing day trips to Verona, Treviso and Venice. Food, courtesy and cleanliness were beyond reproach.
Review 18:Fantastic environment with a splendid view on the castle and ramparts. Soave is an architectural jewel in northern Italy and it is worth staying in the Locando Lo Scudo for two night, like we did, so that we can visit the sights and the cities around during day and spend the evening in the city. THe Locan Lo Scudo has been beautifully restored, everything is exquisite and facilities are outstanding quality. T be warmly recommended.
Review 19:Very poor breakfast, in the mini fridge inside the room. :( it was the only way.
Review 20:Very clean, beautiful rooms.
Review 21:Poor breakfast. Hair on the bathroom floor. (not my)
Review 22:Nice room.
Review 23:Tea and coffee making difficult, it's a wine town but no wine glasses or corkscrew available. No iron available.
Review 24:Location
Review 25:Friendly owner, beautifully maintained with all facilities and so easy to find,
Review 26:Nothing really.
Review 27:Cute little hotel, pretty room decor, polite and pleasant staff. excellent dinner at the restaurant. Very happy with everything.
Review 28:Everything was perfect.
Review 29:So welcoming, in a beautiful location right outside the castle walls. The restaurant and wine list were superb. A group of eight of us used it as a base for a few days. It was extremely clean, lovely rooms and having a lovely restaurant underneath us meant we could crawl to bed, happy people. Would strongly recommend this little gem and value for money is excellent.
Review 30:Breakfast was just a few things in the bar fridge during the busy festival time.
Review 31:Right outside the walled city, easy walk through the historic city and not too difficult climb up to the castle for views as far as the Alps. Food was wonderful, owner was delightful. Small room was quaint and clean with an outer room for coffee, giving us a nice spot to read.
Review 32:- breakfast was too basic, inside the room. not convenient. it is a pity because they do have a really nice kitchen/restaurant
Review 33:- cute small place, warmly decorated - nice bed and very comfy bathroom - very friendly staff - just outside Soave castle walls, on a nice street
Review 34:It was OK, but a little odd to have all of you breakfast stuff provided in the mini-bar. They had a lot of stuff in there, but nothing special, just what you can buy at the grocery store. Only had espresso and tea available with coffee maker in the common area. Seems strange to do it this way since there is a restaurant on-site.
Review 35:Location is perfect for seeing everything in Soave. The inn is beautiful, rooms are gorgeous and very comfortable. Bathrooms are large and have everything you need. WiFi works better than in most places, and the price was reasonable. Staff were very sweet, although they do not speak a lot of English. Highly recommend this place!
Review 36:local small hotel, ace friendly staff; we should've eaten at the restaurant but were too daft to book in advance; also no breakfast is good for clients that don't want ham and cheese that early in the day
Review 37:There was not enough wifi signal on the second floor, where we stayed. So we used our devices in the coffee-room.
Review 38:Great location to stay, if you visit Veneto. Beautiful location just under the castlewalls. Very nice rooms, stylish furnitured and decorated. Only four rooms, so you can feel very familiar. Excellent restaurant on the ground floor. The whole building looks like a puppethouse. I recommend it for everyone, who will enjoy quietude and beauty.
Review 39:Very comfortable and cozy place, friendly staff to make you feel welcome. Excellent small restaurant downstairs with great selection of delicious dishes. Service above expectations! Nice surroundings, the castle and the town centre in the walking distance.
Review 40:They could improve their breakfast service and at least offer some real coffee from the restaurant. (I'm OK to have the rest in the fridge as the set-up is today)
Review 41:Small and quiet hotel with very high standards and friendly feeling. Excellent restaurant!
Review 42:It can be an even better experience if you could get the coffe in cups instead of the plastic ones. Also some fresh bread in the mornings would be grat.
Review 43:This small Hotel was all we could ask for, clean, quiet and the staff was very fiendly. The restaurant was excellent and we would love to go there again. A lovely situated Hotel in a fantastic area.
Review 44:For us, cold cake in the fridg and self-service coffee is not a breakfast
Review 45:The small town between verona and vichenza, nice and small, very clean and new
Review 46:Excellent friendly service. One of the best restaurants in the Veneto!
