Reviews for Kryal Castle Ballarat
Review 1:Fun to stay in a Castle especially for young people, also having access to the park after hours was a bonus. The room was clean, comfortable and charming and reception staff were friendly.
Review 2:Bed was not as comfortable as I am used to.
Review 3:Ability to roam the grounds after hours and have the park to ourselves. Room itself was large with ample room for luggage. The bathroom was also big and light.
Review 4:Staff were friendly and approachable - nothing was too much trouble. The room was uncredible, the novelty of sleeping in a castle and having free reign of facilities outaide opening hours kept my son amused, leaving me plenty of time to wander and relax. The room itself was sensational - and the bed! Luxury at its finest. We shall definitely be back!
Review 5:Nothing, we loved everything.
Review 6:We loved absolutely everything about Kryal Castle! The accommodation was beautiful, the staff friendly, the meals amazing. The whole experience is Magical!
Review 7:We enjoyed our total weekend experience - the staff, accommodation, the food and the shows were all really good. Very happy to recommend a visit and or a stay at Kryal Castle - we will go back for a family get-together on a semi-annual basis.
Review 8:I liked everything about the castle.
Review 9:It was unique. The beds were very comfortable. During the week there were not many people around and we were free to explore the grounds. Shower in room 7 was amazing.
Review 10:The grounds could do with a little TLC, a coat of paint and maybe some stock on the shelves as it was pretty bare. Maybe more options for breakfast, there was only a wrap available which we had to wait 30 minutes for.
Review 11:The accommodation was lovely and value for money
Review 12:I think the rooms were a little overpriced for what they were, I guess the novelty factor raised them a little.
Review 13:Kryal Castle is amazing and its nice to roam freely after hours whilst staying there, you literally have your own castle to play in!
Review 14:The Castle has lots of potential but doesn't quite deliver. Why do so many of the facilities finish before closing time? Inadequate staff at breakfast waited one hour from arrival to eating! Good meal.
Review 15:Room was excellent.
Review 16:The room was very comfortable. The bed fantastic. Very quiet. A luggage trolley would be useful. A window to take advantage of the fantastic view would be a bonus. Would definitely stay again.
Review 17:kids disappointed it wasn't haunted? (sorry they told me to write that!)
Review 18:We loved staying at Kryal Castle. The room was very comfortable and modern. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. loved it!
Review 19:Nothing bad to say just wish The Abbey was open to guests of the hotel at night on weekends.
Review 20:The atmosphere is great. Friendly staff and comfortable bed, heating and free wifi.
Review 21:The room was advertised as a twin share and the photos showed 2 joined rooms with 2 queen beds. On arrival we found 1 room with 1 queen bed, 1 single and 1 fold out in the middle of the room, and only 3 chairs. Big issue for our group as we were travelling as 2 couples on a romantic noght away.
Review 22:Really squeaky door into the room and a squeaky door to the bathroom. The room was dark, with dark furniture. No view, unless you are a bloke and stand at the toilet. The view from that little window was lovely.
Review 23:The bed was comfortable and the shower was good. Didn't have a chance to really see any of the other facilities so can't comment on them.
Review 24:No room service... not even the heater was working . There is no one to take care. We didnt even have water to drink. Going out castle at night is going out of ghost house . Its not yet all safe
Review 25:I think the rooms could have been a lot cleaner. I also think that the amenities could be topped up better. Breakfast closing later than 10am.
Review 26:Location, experience
Review 27:It was the best night that I have had for the last 2 years!! Everything was so comfortable!! And too good to be described by words my mother couldn't have a good sleep for so long but she got a good sleep during our stay in the castle. That's the most important thing to me and that's the reason that I will definitely go back there again!!
Review 28:The room had cobwebs everywhere. Something was running around in the roof while we were trying to sleep. The shower was dirty so we didn't use it. The milk in the fridge was already opened. We won't be back
Review 29:The bed was comfortable.
Review 30:It was 5 past 10 and the woman in the kitchen refused to serve us breakfast.. We went in to town and had a much nicer time.
Review 31:The bed, the bath, the chess board
Review 32:Friendly staff, warm bed, beautiful view, silence outside. Very interesting territory around hotel. It's real castle. Amazing show at 12 am with horses and knights.
Review 33:The accommodation at Kryal Castle is very good. Staff were very friendly and the suites are situated in nice surroundings with great attractions for anybody with children.
Review 34:Was a little disappointed that there wasnt much to buy for adults in the way of souvenirs etc. Would have liked access to bbq area if was open... Hopefully next time fff
Review 35:We liked the whole aspect of the park and.
Review 36:Limited catering choice
Review 37:Great medieval costumes and shows Busy during a day and quiet at night Relaxing atmosphere, beautiful nature around Only 12 minutes to Ballarat
Review 38:Badly signposted. Sign had fallen down. Owners had not bothered putting up new sign. Therefore spent 1 hour driving around the vicinity attempting to find entrance.
Review 39:Rubbish from the previous guest was still on the bins, and medication from someone has been left under a chair and the breakfast was cold, the property needs some love and attention, it's looking a little run down
Review 40:The staff were friendly
Review 41:Would have liked to be able to order breakfast in our room.
Review 42:Love how you didn't here cars coming and going at all times as the parking is outside of the complex. It was lovely to walk around the complex after hours and enjoy the surrounds. One of the best places we have ever stayed at.
Review 43:When I booked this i chose the location purely on the themed facilties, and the excellent entertainme by options. Shame that when booked through booking.com the venue opening hours that are clearly printed on their website in the (smallest) of text. Advising that the entertainment only ran at weekends, wasn't made clear enough through booking.com
Review 44:Amazing venue!!!!! 5 star we had a queen suite with en suite shower. The room quality was first rate and the showers have to be seen to be lived for their size!!
Review 45:nasty artificial fibre doonas (2) pillows and blanket. Body does not like them, I realise they are cheap however they are just awful to try and thermoregulate and get a good sleep. We had a king size bed that was two singles together, no problem except mine was very saggy.
Review 46:very friendly helpful reception staff. Quiet location. A fanciful dream to build the place back in the 1970's. Rooms all recently refurbished. Fresh rainwater to shower and drink was a delight. View over farm lands was amazing.
Review 47:Bathroom had some spider webs in it, could possibly be cleaned a bit more thoroughly.
Review 48:I liked the castle grounds, you got the necessary comforts towels teas coffee etc. Staff was quite nice.
Review 49:I was not happy with the cigaret smell that was left in our bathroom was not recent but you could tell they smoked in the room before hand.
Review 50:I loved the extra care of the staff....they were great with my children
Review 51:That I couldn't go and pat that beautiful creature of a horse that I fell in love with, the black show horse.
Review 52:Staying in the medieval atmosphere was a experience fom us. I enjoyed reading of how it was back in the day. Enjoyed being in the real thing rather than just reading about it from a book or cartoon, the actual castle I mean. We got there a bit later than expected and would have like to stay longer. Enjoyed the show. Thank you.
Review 53:The front window and door isn't very soundproof, so you can hear the outside noise of your passing neighbours.
Review 54:What a novelty staying in a Medieval castle for the weekend! All the staff I dealt with were super friendly and helpful - I couldn't have asked for better service! The rooms are beautifully appointed, clean and comfortable. The bed was just so comfy and my son loved playing at the castle playground and having access to the grounds after hours.
Review 55:zero Internet connection; no car entrance, so you have to drag your suitcases from your car 300 meters and then back; very dark in the rooms; good Disneyland, but has nothing to do with hotel business.
Review 56:seriously, if you are not staying at the accomodations, dont visit the theme park.
Review 57:Very nice and comfortable room. The gold museum and Sovereighn hill mining town museum is really worth visiting!
Review 58:Stay on the Castle premises. Very friendly, easy going and quick reception desk. Room was great, in style, and clean. Checking out was super friendly, thank you again!
Review 59:poor shower pressure and shower heads constant noise/drone from heat pumps on hot water bank (room 9) poor parking area for guests
Review 60:comfortable room,quality beds,friendly staff,lovely midweek break
Review 61:The only drawback was the distance the car parking was from the room.
Review 62:The room was excellent. Both the room and the bathroom were extremely large. Great facilities. My husband particularly enjoyed the royal spa!!
Review 63:Everything, from the views from room window stunning over Ballarat, the King Bed was so comfortable, full facilitys in room, good TV, nothing was missing. Wonderful surrounds to stay in, full acess to Kryal Castle Amenities felt like royalty. Will come back again and again loved it.
Review 64:Bathroom shower screen did not fit and bathroom very wet along with toilet seat too small and floors freezing. Otherwise great clean room!
Review 65:Location, castle, staff
Review 66:room very cold. Hard having all beds in same room. Shower very weak. Bathroom floor freezing. Very limited spaced to make food/tea/coffee
Review 67:loved the activities for the kids. Thanks for the blankets. Loved the torture museum.
Review 68:Staying at a castle was great! Even though it was in winter and nothing was happening at the castle, we were able to walk the grounds and enjoyed that immensely.
Review 69:The only urgent improvement in my opinion would be the cafe/restaurant. The ladies working there weren't very friendly and the food choices pretty poor (only junk food and not very fresh either). How amazing would be to have proper medieval food style to complete the experience. Would have loved to wake up to a great breakfast at the restaurant, but the only breakfast option was breakfast in the room.
Review 70:My 3 years old daughter absolutely loved sleeping in the castle and meeting the princess. She was so entertained and busy during our stay at Krystal that I'm glad we spent the weekend in the castle. I recommend Kryal to family with young kids!
Review 71:The park is still expensive to get into but this in no way reflects on the accommodation.
Review 72:The best value accommodation I have stayed in. Room was clean and comfortable with great facilities, and was provided for a great price.
Review 73:Just a shame due to the weather that the kids missed out on some activities like pony rides, horse joest & wizard not on.
Review 74:We loved sleeping like a Prince, Princess & Queen, all the fun kid friendly activities..& even the snow!! Dragons labyrinth, maze & archery were my son's fav's.
Review 75:The only fault I had was with the shower over the bath. It was not user friendly with two 80+ nanna's. It would have been much better for them to have a separate shower. However the bathroom was lovely.
Review 76:The friendly service by everyone you met. They were so happy to be there.
Review 77:A lot of work needs to go into the attractions. Nowhere to eat at night. Rooms were a little small.
Review 78:The castle itself looks great and the rooms are very comfortable. Close proximity to Ballarat was handy for our evening meal.
Review 79:Lack of food choices, nothing available for dinner
Review 80:Comfy rooms, full of character
Review 81:All good
Review 82:All friendly staff And good place
Review 83:Bathroom floor tiles not great
Review 84:We liked everything and felt like a king in our own castle
Review 85:Unfortunately the facilities weren't open on the day we were there so disappointed as that was the reason for staying there in the first place
Review 86:The castle is a great place to stay. It was fun walking around and we hope to return one day when the activities are in full swing.
Review 87:The house flies.
Review 88:The staff was very friendly.
Review 89:The bathroom was a tad basic
