Reviews for Hotel De La Ville

Review 1:Needs more cleaning for the bed and bathroom The elevator is old The bed is not comfort ind clean

Review 2:The lokation, the sea view, and the outside activitis

Review 3:The hotel is older and a little dated.

Review 4:Location was good for getting aboard the cruise ship. Lovely dining room with adequate breakfast included. 1/2 block walk to the beach and beach view from the window. Area is clean and busy.

Review 5:We stay here prior to cruising because we take the train from the airport and this location can't be beat. The rooms have always been clean and comfortable. The price is great. The staff has always been very helpful. We can walk, with our luggage, to the port shuttle bus.

Review 6:Restaurant not open every day, poor bathroom facilities with tiny shower. Staff were some good some poor.

Review 7:Close to cruise terminal in area of lots of restaurants and bars.

Review 8:The location is very good for one departing on a cruise. The Hertz rental is one door away, so the convenience is impossible to beat. This was our second stay. The first time we stayed in a regular double which was old and tired. We chose the best suite in the hotel for this trip which was expensive, but I though the expense would be worth it. It was the most expensive stay of the almost 4 week trip which included 4 star hotels and B&Bs. I may do it again for another cruise, but it is too expensive. The living room needs to be redecorated. The moldings are loose, and the room has a worn look.

Review 9:Problem at check out they were using blue tooth to link their card reader pay machine which would not work so I had to go and draw cash out to pay bill Not very satisfactory Not what you expect of 4 star hotel Also breakfast on first day good on 2nd day not enough staff on duty for number of guests in fact we went and purchased breakfast down the road. Would not stay again

Review 10:Position

Review 11:We stayed here because of a third adult in the room. For this, the room was great--not too small, but the hide-a-bed, for the third adult, is less than desirable.

Review 12:This is a very good place to stay while waiting out some time before or after a cruise. A great location at a fair price.

Review 13:no porter . no bar. no coffee or tea. asked for a cup of tea and was told there was a cafe over the road. bed was very hard. breakfast very poor.

Review 14:position

Review 15:Building too old. Reception told us this was a hospital during the second world war then turned into a Hotel. Just give us some horrible feelings. Ordered taxi to go to the port in the morning the receptionist never bothered to switched to the time for pick-up as requested,

Review 16:Building too old. Reception told us this was a hospital during the second world war.

Review 17:We got in very late at night and left pretty early the next morning. So, it was a great place to sleep and the location was excellent (easy walk to the train station, even with luggage).

Review 18:Rooms had a musty odor. Shower appeared to have mildew around doors. Staff was professional and courteous, but there was a mix-up at the front desk with our transfer to the pier.

Review 19:Location

Review 20:Temperature control in the room was very poor. We happened to be there on a warm day and the A/C did not work.

Review 21:Location was great. Very easy to get a shuttle to the cruise port.

Review 22:austere bare room has seen better days .no glasses or facilities in room request for glasses was grumpily received eventually had to go to reception where i was handed two cheap plastic cups

Review 23:location near cruise port

Review 24:It's a challenge to find a place in Civitavecchia. This is too expensive for what is at most a minimal place to spend the night before a cruise. Breakfast is really questionable. Recommendation by the hotel for dinner was terrible.

Review 25:Unable to get reception to arrange a taxi from the hotel to the Port when wanted despite requesting an 11 a.m. taxi service the afternoon before. We were offered an earliest time of 12.45 using the hotels shuttle service. Solved the problem ourselves by walking with luggage to the rail station nearby where there was a taxi for hire..

Review 26:We are frequent world travelers who have stayed at some of the world's best hotels as well as average hotels and the receptionist Paola (older, dark hair) in this hotel was the RUDEST we have ever met! Her behavior was condescending & belittling. I feel sorry for her that she is such a very unhappy person. The bedspread was yellowish from not having been cleaned for years & had human stains; the carpets was old & worn, the fixtures old and rusty. The sink leaked brown water onto the floor & towels due to rusty pipes and metal supports that were deteriorating. It's a 1* hotel at 4* price.

Review 27:Location was good but there are many other hotels next to it and vicinity

Review 28:The air conditioning didn't seem to be working that well and when we opened the window, it was noisy outside, most of the night included.

Review 29:A nice and convenient location near the port for stay prior to cruise departure!

Review 30:The only negative we had was a very small bath with a very large room.

Review 31:Great location, clean hotel, we had a BIG corner room with view of the sea and the port. Great place to stay for a night or two for going on a cruise. They only have breakfast for meals and a food selection for continetintal.

Review 32:The rooms are not in very good condition, very tired looking, and needed replacement of furnishings. Shower was very small, but we could handle for one night. Wouldn't want to stay any longer

Review 33:The location for the hotel is excellent if you are headed out for cruise from the port. It is an easy walk to the port . The staff were very polite, helpful, and allowed us to leave our luggage after checkout for a few hours before the cruise.

Review 34:Big stain on carpet in room Bathroom shower area needed upgrade. Breakfast serving pieces ( urns and food covers) looked the part but were all wonky.

Review 35:The staff were reasonably friendly. Although we could see that the Hotel had been quite refined in the past, it seemed that little money was being spent to keep a standard.

Review 36:Hotel is a bit tired and old Looking. Nerds some refurbishment for the Price of the room.

Review 37:Excellence location. 2 Minute walk to Train Station and a 5 minute walk to cruise Terminal. Town 1 Minute Walk. Hotel has character.

Review 38:Wifi access sucked. I complained and got a shrug of the shoulder. Fortunately, our airconditioner started to leak which allowed us a better room. Suddenly in a better room, the wifi worked. Overall, an ok hotel. Nothing fancy............breakfast included was more than an overstatement.

Review 39:The Internet access was really bad, the room was dusty and not well cleaned and the people working on the hotel had a really hard time understanding English... Not easy when you need to communicate.

Review 40:We liked the location of the hotel and the breakfast wasn't bad.

Review 41:breakfast wasn't great, hotel looks a bit old (tired), but location is good.

Review 42:Location is great, especially if you're going on a cruise. You just walk right into the port.

Review 43:Breakfast was a little light on for choice. There is a need for two extra pillows for double bed not one per room. and english speaking channel on the TV would help.

Review 44:Staff were very friendly and helpfully. The location was great and the rooms we had were clean and tidy and comfortable.

Review 45:maybe the air conditioner in our room may need looking at as it seemed to be performing less than best performance but weather outside was 30 degrees so maybe the humidity was high and air con not totally effective in those conditioons

Review 46:the location is excellent and staff very helpful. our room was very spacious and comfortable. central location as near to rail station and taxi ride from cruise port.

Review 47:The room was filthy with dirty/ stains on the carpet, the air conditioner (87 degrees outside) was not operational and mold throughout the interior of the shower.

Review 48:Nice location. It was a short stop for us, but the overall impression was good. Big rooms, USA style, otherwise a nice European hotel. I would stay the again

Review 49:Nice location right by the sea and close to stores, restaurant, park etc. Nice interior, feels like some old (modernized) Italian mansion. We had a suite at a fairly reasonable price and loved it.

Review 50:No bad experiences

Review 51:Closeness to port, the ambiance of the beach and shops around the area, easy check-in, closeness to car rental (Hertz), room was generally comfortable, had a view, and no problems with anything

Review 52:The bathroom is in very bad condition and the bath was not clean at all, very very dissapointed! The breakfast was very poor, but the cleanless was too bad, the hotel must invest some money on remake the bathrooms...because the existing are too old and in very bad condition...

Review 53:The only good think it was the kindnes of hotel staff and that the hotel is situated near the railway. Also the free parking was ok.

Review 54:Stay at the hotel dela ville civitavecchia, italy Res # Sunday31st May 2015We checked in at abt 7pm. The Hotel Lobby/downstairs lounge were OK,and the double room with twin beds seemed OK… but one huge problem arose - NOISE ( and we had requested a quiet room!!)] It transpired that adjoini9ng the hotel at ground level was an illegal discotheque, and our room was directly above it.. The loud noise from its base speakers started at 11pm and did not stop till 4 am!! - the noise was deafening! We attempted to get moved to a quieter room at 2 am - but this was just as noisy. In the morning we complained to the Reception saying we would not pay for the room. The Managers secretary appeared at 9 am and claimed the Hotel could not be held responsible for the noise. The Manager came in an hour later and relayed a message through his secretary that the Hotel would allow a 50% discount; we accepted this as a practical solution - though we would have preferred to have paid the full price and enjoyed a good nights sleep!! We would not be enthusiastic to return to this hotel unless the discotheque has been closed down!! Anthony cohen

Review 55:The breakfast was plentiful but, embarrassingly, we could not eat much because lots of things seemed stale.

Review 56:The view out over the Straits of Messina. The shuttle to and from the railway station - it was a short distance but annoying enough if we had needed to drag our cases. The driver was cheerful and efficient. Rest of the staff were very polite too.

Review 57:Breakfast was very disappointing. No English speaking channels on in room TV; there were 999 Italian channels though!

Review 58:The style of the hotel which was olde worlde and the friendliness of the staff

Review 59:An overall 'tired' hotel that really needs a jolly good make-over. The bathroom plumbing is clearly original as are the bathrooms and the one tiny ancient elevator. Very tight in getting the Bentley into and out of the small courtyard parking area. But it was free and the car remained scratch free!

Review 60:Easy to find for a one night stay. Right opposite the sea. Private parking at no extra charge. Helpful receptionists.

Review 61:All beds in Europe are too hard for me

Review 62:An hour by train from airport and the hotel is right up the street from the train station the train was only 10 euros per person. Also less than a 10 minute bus ride to cruise port for less than a euro super easy and convenient

Review 63:There was noise from a nearby club that might bother some, but it was Friday night so we just considered it part of the local atmosphere.

Review 64:The room had a beautiful terrace that looked out over the sea and the road to the cruise port. It was a short walk to catch the shuttle to the cruise ship.

Review 65:*Internet access was very slow. *amenities were poor *very poor access to ice they had to go next door to a bar to get a small amount of ice/ *no way was this a four star hotel.

Review 66:The staff very helpful and worked hard to make our stay comfortable.

Review 67:breakfast was mediocre. There were eggs, bacon and sausages but they were cold because the attendant didn't light the burner under the warmer pan.

Review 68:large room with terrace, within walking distance to lots of great restaurants, close to cruise port

Review 69:Room generally clean, except for the Bathroom which should be completely renovated. Particularly the grout in the shower, near the bottom was full of dark mildew. Tracks of shower doors not much better. Routine cleaning will never correct these ugly spots. No safe in room.

Review 70:Close proximity to Railway, Cruise terminal, Shopping and Restaurants. We have stayed here before before commencement of another cruise. Then and this time the Breakfast was exceptional.

Review 71:Nothing at all.

Review 72:Really nice room with a sea view, unexpected and welcome. Good breakfast, and very interesting hotel. At the end of the approach road from railway.

Review 73:The furniture was a bit worn.

Review 74:The location was great. The staff was helpful and courteous. The room was large. The bed was comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The croissants were particularly delicious. The price was excellent.

Review 75:Can't identify anything that we really did not like. This hotel is certainly adequate for a several night stay.

Review 76:Size of room was very good for two people and possibly a family of three or four. Bed was comfortable; room was pleasant and adequately maintained. The price was reasonable. The location with its view of the sea is excellent; fairly close to ship port. The breakfast was certainly better than average. We would stay at this hotel again. It is a pleasant enough, laid back hotel.

Review 77:I am 6' 2" tall at 190 lbs. and just about fit into the shower.

Review 78:Convenient location, friendly staff, maybe not a great breakfast, but sufficient.

Review 79:Breakfast was in need of TLC, was there between 8.30 and 9 and there was always a wait i.e. no hot food (understand that this may ensure that it is fresh) however also had to ask for a cup and saucer, pastries - waitress did not seem too observant to notice that items needed replacing.

Review 80:Lovely room (recommend the Azalea Suite) with spacious lounge-room, bedroom and views across the ocean. Very friendly receptionists.

Review 81:We thought that the breakfast was not as good as when we stayed previously (April 2014).

Review 82:The hotel is on the sea front and is in a perfect position for the train station - less than 3 minutes walk. The cruise port shuttle bus is about 5 minutes walk or it will cost about 20€ for a taxi. The room we had (306) was excellent. Large, with sea views to one side and the station on the other.

Review 83:Staff's English was not too good. Otherwise no major problems.

Review 84:Nice clean hotel in a convenient location. Nice breakfeast buffet. Recommend for short stays.

Review 85:The language was a problem, but some staff members could understand English

Review 86:Easy access to train station. The town is alive at night. It is very close to restuarants and pubs.

Review 87:the selection of items available at breakfast. it would have been nice to have scrambled eggs and bacon but the dishes were not replenished through out our stay in the dining room

Review 88:The staff were helpful and friendly. the room was clean and adequate for a one night stay

Review 89:Little or no A/C, some of the breakfast choices ran out early and were not replaced.

Review 90:Location ( view, distance to train and cruise ships), staff assistance

Review 91:Excellent location, close to the cruise-ship terminal. Good breakfast with plenty of choice. Make sure you book your taxi to the cruise-ship terminal with reception as soon as you check in, as it can take a lot of time for one to arrive when requested on the morning of departure. Staff was very helpful in chasing a taxi company to get one for us.

Review 92:Traffic noise if window left open Plastic cups in bathroom Bathroom small and lacked storage space Hot water for making tea not hot enough No outdoor shaded seating area

Review 93:Great sea views from our room. On booking I had asked for a room with a view and I got it! Spacious room Comfortable bed Courteous, helpful staff Free wifi Close to beach, railway station and shops

Review 94:Decor - A beautiful old hotel but a long time since it has been renovated so a lot of areas looking very old...tatty.. Wifi only works in certain rooms... I booked the hotel because of it's location and wifi service but had tro change rooms twice to find one with usable wifi. However, staff were friendly when attending to this

Review 95:Location Style of building Friendly staff

Review 96:Not a 3 or 4 star hotel by USA standards. Rooms were equipped with air conditioning, but the hotel turns the A/C off at times they consider it un-necessary.

Review 97:Location of the hotel was great. The staff was very helpful. The breakfast was very good. Rooms were clean.

Review 98:Not much 4* about this hotel. Bathroom well below expectations (shower head probably never replaced since hotel opening). Mold in corners, humidity marks on ceiling and walls. Suspect, filters in A/C not really the freshest. TV channels for non Italian speakers very limited.

Review 99:The location is ideally located in the center of CV, however trains run right behind the hotel and the oceanfront avenue is busy and noisy. Room size and beds ok. Nice breakfast area and breakfast selection. Only about 5 minutes taxi drive from the cruise port.

Review 100:In my experience of hotels in Civi I am not impressed that there is no one to take suitcases up to our room or bring down again. This would be my priority if I ever book again.

Review 101:Situation very good. Front office staff very good.

Review 102:LOCATION, ROOM

Review 103:The outside of the hotel was being redecorated so I walked past it before turning back to go in.

Review 104:Very comfortable and reasonably priced.

Review 105:Proximity to railway station

Review 106:Bed was a little hard but ok for the money

Review 107:Location was good next to the port

Review 108:Location was perfect!

Review 109:No coffee facilities or safe in room. Breakfast ok

Review 110:Near the port

Review 111:Limited choices for breakfast.

Review 112:Friendly staff and full cooperation.

Review 113:Convenient to the train station and the cruise port

Review 114:Restaurant for dinner not always available.

Review 115:It has a beautiful old world charm.

Review 116:Great location for cruise port. Less than 10 min walk along the promenade. Lots of good restaurants within 5 mins walk.

Review 117:Everything rooms shady awful

Review 118:Breakfast wasn't not good. Arrived at 9 pm and couldn't get a cup of tea. Bathroom not great.

Review 119:Location was good for cruise port.

Review 120:The room was very spacious and set out lovely. Close to the cruise port. Plenty of places nearby to shop & eat.

Review 121:Loved the location and the staff! This was a very good value for the money!

Review 122:Location near port

Review 123:Mould everywhere in the bathroom. Toilet unclean

Review 124:Staff

Review 125:Air conditioning was terrible.

Review 126:Location was good. Hotel was clean.

Review 127:The location and convenience of going to the cruise ship port.
