Reviews for Sunbay Park Hotel

Review 1:We were going on a cruise, and had too much luggage, and of course, we had a lower level room, and no elevator. This was the only inconvenience about the hotel.

Review 2:Everyone was very nice to us, and helpful. Love the view of the sea.

Review 3:Civitavecchia was much nicer than expected - especially for a port town. We expected the hotel to be dirty but were pleasantly surprised to find it clean, comfortable and right on the beach - not a great beach but a lovely view and great sunset. Staff were very helpful.

Review 4:Didn't like- *the room decor- the pillow flat *the stairs down to room. *can hear people talking in their rooms from ours. *It could do with a little TLC -but it was autumn & didn't use all the facilities. * we went for a walk trying to find restaraunts - heading away from town/station some of the area looks derilict.nothing to be found.even though i followed google maps to places. *$15 euro for short trip from train station ok if there were 4 people.

Review 5:Liked - *It was friendly - *breakfast included was great coffee was good *Bathroom was nice and more modern than the rest decor. *The view was great & watching the rough seas & lightning is bonus *overall it was value for money *organised a shuttle to port $5euro each *Heading back towards town or station found a nice pizza place they charge by the kilo with a bottle of beer made up for the walk

Review 6:A little too far from town to walk, so you need to drive. Couldn't get anything to eat between set meal times, so we were hungry until we got a taxi in to town. ( had missed lunch).

Review 7:Great view from the room, looking straight at the ocean. Also great to have the pool. Perfect place to stay if catching ferry next day. Staff extremely helpful.

Review 8:The Wi-Fi was out our entire stay. On a positive, however, the desk manager offered me the use of his personal computer to complete my pre-cruise documents.

Review 9:Hepful staff and comfortable room We stayed pre-cruise but the hotel would be lovely for a vacation.

Review 10:Need a car, no where to walk. Quiet area and not a lot going on in the town. More for cruise ships drop off. Watch the beach bars, get you to have big meal without menu, and just gives you what they want, then big bill. Tourist rip offs.!!! Evening meal basic.

Review 11:Location on the sea/marina, good facilities of pools, health club etc. WIFI reception good. Rooms bright and airy especially for corner rooms. Good views over the marina and sea.

Review 12:Walls a little thin. Mattresses could do with replacing. WiFi patchy and slow.

Review 13:The seafront location and the view from the room impossible to beat. Breakfasts and dinners served at the restaurant terrace excellent. Beautiful rooms with plenty of space.

Review 14:Dinner choices a bit limited.Breakfast not always fresh. Eggs/bacon cold. Laundry self serve room would be good.

Review 15:Quiet and relaxing . Spacious rooms and bathrooms.Lovely balconies with views Choice of 2 pools.

Review 16:Some staff very abrupt and gave Italian customers more attention, restaurant meal in evening very poor as were staff.

Review 17:Amazing views from breakfast and bed rooms

Review 18:Where to begin? Place was filthy. Shower was very bad with no shower curtain. No toiletries except 2 tiny bars of soap. No noise insulation from adjoining rooms or corridor. Parking totally disorganized.

Review 19:View only and even that was not great. Marina below was very ugly.

Review 20:The service in the restaurant was terrible. It took almost two hours to receive our meal which when it arrived was tasteless. It was our worst meal and service whilst travelling Italy. Another problem, at dinner our children left the IPad on the chair, the staff obviously knew what room we were in as we were also only table with children, but yet the iPad was not returned to us and it was only when we were 30 km away from hotel on departure and we rang them, they said an iPad was found. Very disappointing. Do not eat in the restaurant.

Review 21:The terasse of our room was large with high ceilings and had a side sea view, but unfortunately a view of the bins from the other side. As we were only on the first floor it also caught some of the smell so we had to keep the doors closed. Decor generally a bit tired - could do with a lick of paint.

Review 22:Right on the sea, a relaxing stop off point if you've just come in to Civitavecchia. The pools were lovely, with a great view over the sea and no shortage of sun beds. We had a lovely lunch at the terasse restaurant overlooking the pool - it was a weekend barbecue, and although appeared pricey at 24 and 20 euros for the fish and meat platters respectively, portions were family size generous - fish platter had tuna, swordfish, king prawns and langoustine as well as a side salad. Family room was very large with high ceilings and a huge terasse.

Review 23:Our rooms were along way a part . The children had a room on the first floor whilst we were onthe ground floor along a very long corridor .

Review 24:Great location with a lovely view .

Review 25:Large swimming pool but saltier than the sea.No beach only ladders to access the sea but lovely once in. 3km out of the centre so if on foot have to walk(last bus goes about 6pm) No taxis back in the evening

Review 26:Breakfast was good, nice outside terrace to eat on. Staff were friendly although slight language barrier Room was comfortable and pleasant decoration.Great sea views

Review 27:The view from the room was great! Sunbeds overlooking the sea and both pools, great for relaxing. The room was very clean and all staff were friendly.

Review 28:The noise of the elevator. The property looked like it needed a general tidy up. General maintenance was a bit lacking particularly around the big pool. The rooms were excellent.

Review 29:It was very peaceful

Review 30:This is not a 4-star hotel, it is aged and renovation is required. Cleaning is acceptable but not thorough. 3 km to town and no buses after 8 p.m.

Review 31:Staff is nice, hotel is cosy with a good atmosphere, has a good kitchen, is placed very close to the coast.

Review 32:Slow or lack of service in the restaurant on our first night was not a good impression, the 2 staff serving were swamped and could not cope, we walked out very hungry and frustrated.

Review 33:Being right on the harbour was nice, having the choice to swim in the pool or in the ocean was great.

Review 34:even though the hotel seemed very quiet our room was not ready when we arrived. the double bed was two singles pushed together and was not very comfortable. not sure if this is typical.

Review 35:the restaurant was fabulous for dinner and breakfast. the room and facilities were very clean

Review 36:Lack of taxis!! This is a nightmare. We ended up walking back to the hotel late at night on a main road because we could not get a cab back!!

Review 37:Outside pool area was great as was the restaurant lunch time food.

Review 38:We had traveled all day to find that the pools closed very early 6PM-no towels at main pool. Very slow and poor service at snack bar We couldn't find the beach

Review 39:The ocean and port view from restaurant was great. The restaurant was quite good.

Review 40:They perhaps, need to look at a restaurant manager, and a chef,to tighten, up a few things in the kitchen and in the service area.

Review 41:It was restfull, staff seemed eager to please

Review 42:Not the Hotels problem, but we suggest you pre book transport to Hotel, as there are not many Taxis available, especially when there are Cruise ships in Port.

Review 43:Lovely large sea water pool in grounds

Review 44:Location of this hotel was poor. There were not even a supermarket near by. Service in the restaurant Le Terazze was very slow. We were a family with 4 persons and we need to wait our foods almous an hour. And that was everytime (3 times) we eat in this restaurant. Rooms needs renovation quickly. Floor in our room was horrible. Just like from 70's. One night in this hotel was enough.

Review 45:Breakfast was good and also svimming pool area.

Review 46:That we had to move on to our schedule and could not stay longer.

Review 47:We loved our quick 1 night in transit spur of the moment stay! You can tell this was once an elite property that is now with a gracious new staff rebuilding the facility and business. Overall a 10 out 10 based on price/ value. Hope to return next year gladly recommending to others.

Review 48:They do not have any food or snack bars open during the day. Their restaurant was only open for breakfast and opens at 7:30pm for dinner.

Review 49:The staff were excellent and went out of their way to help us.

Review 50:The property is clean and tidy. The room was clean and bright. Love the beautiful ocean view from my room. The room rate was reasonable plus free breakfast. This hotel is only a short taxi ride from the cruise ship terminal.

Review 51:Basic hotel but clean and large room with view , so enjoyable

Review 52:Location. Arranged transfer from Rome airport. Walkable distance from restaurants on sea front. ( but took taxi back

Review 53:Function held with quite loud music downstairs though it didn't go too late. Front desk reception could have been friendlier.

Review 54:Loved our room with it's impressionistic artworks.gorgeous views from balcony. Excellent free parking.good breakfast included.

Review 55:The response of the hotel staff was quite enjoyable and helpful. My wife and I especially enjoyed the evening dinner in front of the fireplace. The food for dinner and the breakfast were exceptional. We had a great night's sleep and the environment was very casual, quiet, and provided a wonderful bargain as we went on our way to the cruise ship travel. Thank you for your hospitality...and sorry I returned my room key late (by ESA taxi) after I found it in my jacket pocket! :-)>

Review 56:We loved the beautiful location of the property. Large and expansive with an outdoor patio for dining and view. The pool area was wonderful as well as the breakfast. Close proximity to Civitavecchia. A relaxing start before embarking on a busy 3 week vacation.

Review 57:Not much other than it is an older hotel.

Review 58:This hotel was very clean and very comfortable. Although it hasn't been updated, it is roomy and a good value. Awesome view from your room. Breakfast included and was very good.

Review 59:Front desk staff had NO idea of correct times for meals or shuttle to the cruise port. The waiters were not very friendly, and we ate in the restaurant twice. Location was terrible, not close to any restaurants or shopping of any kind.

Review 60:Clean with a great view

Review 61:No complaints other than the fact that our GPS doesn't accept the street number as so many km which was given on our booking notice and their website. Luckily, we have been there before and knew what the hotel looked like and had a general idea of the location on that highway.

Review 62:Great location as it is close to the port for Cagliari with our car. Lovely grounds and views of the waterfront. We stayed here in 2006.

Review 63:The hotel and the rooms do need a refurbishment. It is more like a 3-star. The shower was only a hand held shower in the bath and there was no curtain so it was difficult to keep the water inside the bath.

Review 64:The hotel sits right on the front with beautiful views overlooking the sea and the marina. We were staying 1 night after a cruise and wanted a hotel with a pool. It actually has 2 pools - a very large salt water one and a fresh water one which is a lot smaller but is still a reasonable size.Pool towels are provided free of charge. We loved sitting outside in their terrace restaurant for dinner. The food and service were excellent and we saw one of the best sunsets we have ever seen. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was very comfortable.

Review 65:Location out fo town not too good, surroundings away from the seafront rather shabby.

Review 66:The food was very good, the staff smart and helpful. Pool facilities very good with life guards in attendance.

Review 67:Very run down even looks like it is closed down from the outside ... None of the comfort facilities of a four star we rang down to reception to ask for an iron and were told the hotel did not have one !!!! Nothing within walking distance .. We stayed two nights before a cruise and that was too long in this hotel . Will definately not be returning .

Review 68:View over ocean

Review 69:The staff helping when we need it and the all location and got our money with

Review 70:Fitness center was poor.

Review 71:Staff were friendly and helpful.

Review 72:i was disappointed that the pool was not available.

Review 73:peaceful

Review 74:Fabrizio was excellent in arranging for our transport, accommodation and beverages.

Review 75:Nothing was awful, but the room didn't feel modern or updated.

Review 76:Close to the port for our cruise. Breakfast included.

Review 77:staff were not helpful rude at checkin pool for children was to far away over priced

Review 78:nothing

Review 79:Very convenient for cruise port. Shuttle service available to port for €5 pp. Food for lunch and dinner was excellent. Breakfast was ok.

Review 80:Everything is 10 minutes. Which means I don't know.

Review 81:Liction

Review 82:Loved everything about the Sunbay Park Hotel. The location, view, accommodations, staff, pool, everything. Would stay here again.

Review 83:Breakfast room dark

Review 84:Location

Review 85:No wifi

Review 86:One of our main course meals was cold

Review 87:The view from our room

Review 88:Spectacular views and great pool and facilities

Review 89:Location, pool, restaurant food

Review 90:Very very old hotel and it more like a motel than a hotel.

Review 91:Dated

Review 92:Great location. Good service

Review 93:Everything seemed dated and cheap.

Review 94:Location.

Review 95:Nice hotel. Perfect for pre cruise stay.

Review 96:nice room for a family of 4.

Review 97:The Stay was great but the room was not happy with

Review 98:No complains.

Review 99:The view of the sea from my balcony.

Review 100:the view from the room was great. the staff were friendly.

Review 101:Would be nice to provide complimentary shuttle to port.

Review 102:Good comfortable hotel , supper excellent and great breakfast. Good venue for pre cruise

Review 103:Staff were very friendly and helpful. Excellent outdoor pool.

Review 104:A little pricey for food

Review 105:location and great place to relax

Review 106:Our room wasn't ready when we arrived at 1 pm. The shower was over the bath with no curtain to contain the water and the fitting was so loose the we had to aim the water into the wall next to the fitting. There was only one tissue in the tissue box. Mosquitos were around even though we had electric deterrent pads but the wall plug didn't allow the pad to sit horizontally. I had 2 bites!

Review 107:The room had balconies facing the water from two sides with a marvelous view from both. Parking was available on site with level entry and a lift. Food was good and wi fi was free. Lots of facilities particularly for children and teens - swimming pools. beach volley ball courts, water sports etc. We felt it was a great resort style but was rather 'tired' and in need of an upgrade.

Review 108:Some steps dificult for wheelchair. Shower difficult because there arenot any handle to transfer from wheelchair

Review 109:Really good situation. In front of the sea.

Review 110:Too far from the town, no taxi in the town, very expensive. Very old fashioned hotel, not clean. Food wasn't good. Not what it looks like on the website, totally different. Very noisy in the rooms, we were in ground floor and could hear everything upstairs, a woman walking around in her high heels when she came back late at night and then cleaners in the morning from upstairs and the room beside us. It wasn't a good experience and was happy to be leaving after 1 night.

Review 111:Staff very helpful and friendly. Leaving after 1night.

Review 112:The hotel has so many facilities, but so under-used.The restaurant was under-staffed and half empty, and we were given no help with regards to the pools. The final insult was when we were told we couldnt use the pool without swimming hats, when there were other people in the pool without them! However the rooms were clean and spacious and food was good. The hotel would be fantastic with a new vibrant management team.

Review 113:Breakfast rather poor, one tiny bottle of showergel for two people per day, staff at the restaurant quite impolite, you need the car to get around

Review 114:Great location, AC works fine, bathroom with bathtub, free of charge beach towels, chairs and umbrellas, swimming pools with a sea water, free parking on the site

Review 115:The wifi was on-off all the time. The big pool-area had just a few beds for the hotelguests, and you couldnt lay beside the big pool but a little bit far from the pool. There was no beach.

Review 116:We did like the location, about 2-3 km to the center of Civitavecchia. The hotel was ok, a little bit old-fashon. Our rooms at the bottom floor had a wonderful view. Close to the marina, we could watch boats all day. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast was ok. At the pool you were offered towels.

Review 117:Pool area was like a building site but I guess being out of season and what looked like a refurbishment project being undertaken that had to be expected. It didn't put a damper on our stay.

Review 118:Views from the rooms were amazing and the theme of the hotel was very relaxed and welcoming. Staff were very helpfull and nothing was a problem it made our stay at the end of a 6 hour drive from Milan, a very nice experience.

Review 119:The ocean front area of the hotel was a bit run down and appeared to be under restoration

Review 120:The staff was friendly and accommodating. We were there to go see Rome but the children wanted to use the pool. It was not open for the season yet, but they let our children hop in (and out because it was cold) with our supervision.

Review 121:If you don't have any car or motorcycle, there are no other choice rather than take a dinner at the hotel itself. And unfortunately the Free WIFI currently available around the lobby.

Review 122:Quite and nice place.

Review 123:A very poor continental breakfast is included. The property is at a nice location but was overpriced for what you got.

Review 124:Right on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Great views for the balcony.

Review 125:We were on the bottom floor with a fantastic view of the ocean, marineand swimming pool. There are 2 swimming pools. The larger one isfantastic. Unfortunately it rained both days we were there and didn'tget to use it. All of the staff members were very helpful. It was agreat place to spend our last 2 days in Italy.

Review 126:Rooms a bit spartan.

Review 127:The hotle restaurant was excellent. It exceeded our expectations for aseaside hotel. The 2 pools were clean and well kept. The rooms were abit spartan, but the hotel itself was quite good. It is about 3 milesfrom the port of Civitavecchia which is a major cruise ship port. Iwould recomend it to anyone who needs to overnight when on a cruise.

Review 128:We only stayed one night on our way to Rome, but had a plesant night at the hotel. Nice pool, good food, and friendly staff. Did not get the chance to see the surounding area.

Review 129:It's a litte too far to walk in to town, and taxis are difficoult to get and the private "txis" are extremely expensive (these guys don't gice receipts, and must be making a forune!) The hotel should hav a shuttle bus n regular schedule to town

Review 130:Nice cleanwl function hotel. he pool and the ocean is great

The Fine Print

A shuttle service going to the center of Civitavecchia and harbor is available upon request and at extra costs.
