Reviews for Hotel Borgo Del Mare
Review 1:The beds are very uncomfortable There was no hot water for a shower and the shower wasn't clean and the wall paper was peeling off the walls. The location is too far out of town It advertised as having a restaurant and doesn't have one
Review 2:Very few restaurants or sight near by, but the hotel had a very nice restaruant, and then a free shuttle to the pier.
Review 3:Excellent service, very clean, friendly staff
Review 4:Unfortunately the bed was very hard and the pillows poor quality making a good night's sleep impossible.
Review 5:Friendly staff and food was good, lovely little veranda area to have a glass of wine.
Review 6:The shower was dirty on the outside and the bedroom in need of modernising. We tried to eat outside but were plagued by cats.
Review 7:The location was ideal for pre cruise and the collection from the airport and shuttle to the ship was excellent.
Review 8:Not on water or view of water (deceived by name "del Mare." Closest beach half mile away. Spare and basic.
Review 9:Good value for price. Sent van (at additional cost) to pick us up at Rome ( Fiumincino) Airport. Free van to cruise ship terminal in morning.
Review 10:The location was a bit further from the cruise terminal than we had expected but the hotel has a shuttle or will arrange transport.
Review 11:The room was well appointed and there is a good restaurant at the hotel. The restaurant and reception staff were very helpful but the owner/manager could improve his people skills a bit for tired travellers.
Review 12:Nothing
Review 13:Staff were very obliging even picked us up when we couldn't get a taxi.. Location would have been ok if any taxis in cittivechia but they were practically none existant !
Review 14:The room was very small. We had to leave the window bit open because there was a terrible smell of cheap cleaning products .There was a lot of people coming in and out since it is close to the airport and the ships .The carpet and wall papers in the room need upgrading from the 70' .
Review 15:The parking .
Review 16:Raining on arrival therefor location is not ideal for a walk into town because of poor road condition, no footpath
Review 17:Quiet and away from traffic. Staff were helpfull and friendly with arrangement made for transfers from Rome airport and next day to cruise ship.
Review 18:It seemed quite far from the main part of town. We walked around looking for restaurants and there was not much around. You can eat at the restaurant at the hotel, but we were hoping for more options.
Review 19:Location to cruise port Free shuttle to port Helpful staff
Review 20:Not a single thing
Review 21:This is an excellent hotel in every way. From the airport transfer arranged through the hotel staff right up to to transfer to the port, everything was Excellent. The restaurant is fantastic and not to be missed. Even though this hotel is about a mile from the city it is not a drawback. It was quiet and relaxing after a long flight. The Hotel staff is more than friendly and accommodating.
Review 22:Hotel is convenient to the cruise port in Civitavecchia, which is, after all, what we needed. It is however a good 20 minutes to half hour walk on busy road to get to the town centre, so public transport or cabs recommended if you are no longer spry.
Review 23:Lovely staff, pleasant ambience; good food. Room quite spacious and well-appointed. We arrived quite early after o/night flight but were able to book in as room already prepared.
Review 24:Far from restaurants. Bed was hard, pillows hard flat pancakes. 15 euro cab ride from train station.
Review 25:Staff was friendly. Breakfast was good. Wifi worked well. Free shuttle to port was good.
Review 26:Evening meal Food was very poor. Fish starter was burnt. Steak very mediorce. Wine was not what was ordered. Waiter was uninterested in our party and only did the basics. Breakfast was better Pleasant young man serving.
Review 27:Facilities and location were good
Review 28:Isolated not very much around the hotel Not within walking distance on centre of town
Review 29:Free shuttle to cruise port Breakfast was very good Staff were very friendly On site restaurant was excellent
Review 30:It was about 30 minutes walk into town.
Review 31:The owner was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was quite good. Nice to have a bar and restaurant on site.
Review 32:Wished we could have gotten something for lunch when we first arrived. Also, my husband is a big guy...the bed could have been larger, but I know in Europe they usually are smaller than the USA. Nothing really to complain about though!
Review 33:Had a wonderful dinner & breakfast before leaving on our cruise. The staff very nice & accommodating....would not hesitate to stay at the Hotel Borgo Del Mare in the future.
Review 34:It was perfect
Review 35:We arrived very late from Canada via Heathrow. The driver from the hotel was waiting with a large sign --- a very welcoming sight ! Very impressed! The breakfast available was one of the best I've found in any European country.
Review 36:Although typical to all European countries, Dinner was late for us (as Canadians) being at 1930 hrs. Missed dinner as we fell asleep being too tired after a long overnight flight.
Review 37:Excellent staff. Alessandro (3 of them) were very attentive and cared to our needs. Room was comfortable. The Hotel is in a quiet area. Nice terrace to enjoy a drink and relax after a long flight. Breakfast was delicious and they even provided Expresso. Free shuttle service door-to-door to the Civitavecchia port and our cruise ship. Highly recommend this Hotel for pre and post cruise stay.
Review 38:The room needed two comfortable chairs. There was not much around within walking distance .
Review 39:The restaurant's food was very good. The shuttle service was excellent and the front desk was very friendly and helpful.
Review 40:Chose this hotel based on a high cleanliness rating and the free shuttle to cruise ship. Upon entering room, immediately noticed a musty smell and dated appearance. Closet smelled worse, so did not use. Showerhead did not stay where placed (slid down), hair dryer did not work, small shelf above sink was falling off the wall--everything slid off. No counter space in bathroom. Bathroom door stuck to floor when opening.
Review 41:Transportation directly to the cruise ship at no extra charge. Room size good. Breakfast good.
Review 42:no real view. Bathroom very compact and slightly run-down but clean. bed was firm and pillows and sheets were too soft/old. people talking on the patio out front were loud and sound carried to the room but this was not the hotel's fault!
Review 43:Free shuttle to the cruise port. Breakfast in the AM was very good. Internet was free -- which is NOT common at most Italian hotels. Food at dinner was average quality but not overpriced for a tourist location -- the Italian appetizer was good. Service was good. Shuttle arranged thru the hotel from the Rome airport was pricey but worth it to avoid the hassle. Driver was there waiting as promised. I would stay here again before another cruise for 1-2 nights.
Review 44:Nothing really.
Review 45:Very clean spacious rooms. Excellent restaurant for Italy. Great for overnight before catching a cruise. Free transfer to cruise terminal. Would recommend.
Review 46:Older hotel, shows it's age. Very small bathroom. Walls are thin and noises from hall can be heard in room. Being from USA we're used to eating early, dinner not available at restaurant till after 7.
Review 47:Staff is wonderful! Friendly and accommodating. Very nice breakfast, clean rooms.
Review 48:Beds were HORRIBLE Same for the pillows Room was less than small Room was dusty Light in bathroom was out
Review 49:Location Dinner Staff Only stayed one night
Review 50:The un United States of Europe , the world has moved on guys !
Review 51:The hotel is good , but generally speaking the town was useless, I couldnot use visa or MasterCard in the banks ? Very strange , but normal Ifound out in Italy , trying to activate a 3 mob was a nightmare , thehotel will not help you with these problems , also they cannot speakEnglish so they cannot help you , they do not have free tourist mapseither , so you are on your own , if you come from Australia it is justa nightmare not a holiday .
Review 52:The shower didn't work, but they were helpful fixing it.
Review 53:We stayed here before our cruise out of the local port. The staff is very friendly and the restaurant has great food. They shuttled us to the ship as well as picked us up and brought us back to our car. Would definitely use this hotel again.
Review 54:Dirty windows in the room.
Review 55:Breakfast better than ussual in Italy
Review 56:The location and the restaurant.
Review 57:Room very small. Owner and children seem to have taken over the place, "camping out" in lobby, and served first in restaurant.
Review 58:The hotel could use modernization
Review 59:Transportation from the AirPort and free port shuttle
Review 60:Shuttle service to the cruise terminal booked for 10-30 but didn't leave till 12-00 due to vehicle problem.
Review 61:Friendly and helpful staff
Review 62:The bed was uncomfortable/hard.
Review 63:The hotel was clean and the service was great, friendly and informative. The breakfast was excellent.
Review 64:Very basic and overpriced limited facilities
Review 65:Convenient for cruise port and collection from airport
Review 66:Excellent staff, very good breakfast.
Review 67:Amazing location.
Review 68:The staff were very friendly.
Review 69:Everything was perfect and professional.
Review 70:Far from city centre Hotel does not deser 4 stars, at the most 3 stars Hotel
Review 71:People were nice. Clean
Review 72:Small rooms that needed updating
Review 73:Quite a good position
Review 74:Staff
Review 75:The staff was so accommodating. The food was delicious.
Review 76:Friendly, helpful staff. Shuttle direct to ship included as well as breakfast. Cappuccino!
Review 77:Excellent location for precruise stay. Good breakfast. Local house wine was great.
Review 78:Too far from town
Review 79:Staff was wonderful
Review 80:Although the breakfast was nice, the dinner in their on-site restaurant was not so great.
Review 81:The shuttle to the cruise ship pier was prompt and helpful.
Review 82:Distance to restaurants
Review 83:Free transportation to cruise ship
Review 84:Room was small but it was only for one night.
Review 85:The ride to the cruise port was worth the cost of the room. Staff were very helpful too.
Review 86:A bit far from shops, but not important to us
Review 87:It was very clean, comfortable with very helpful staff
Review 88:Asked for ironing board and iron and received a table on wheels with a table cloth over it.
Review 89:Location
Review 90:Poor location, short taxi ride from port and station.
Review 91:Nice hotel, lovely breakfast on charming patio, friendly staff and cats!
Review 92:"nearby" night club? or loud private party?
Review 93:Staff, brilliant , friendly and helpful.... Rooms well appointed ...... Food.....fantastic.
Review 94:Staff very friendly, efficient and helpful. Thoroughly recommend this hotel. Food excellent
Review 95:Very friendly, helpful staff. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. We left behind a fairly expensive item, which the hotel staff returned to us by post.
Review 96:A very homely place run by family. Staff are very friendly and helpfull. Breakfast and transport to Port incuded.Wife agreed I had made a good choice. (rarely agrees) Lift and air con welcome. Clean and good location. Quite hotel and ready for cruise.
Review 97:This mom and pop hotel in Rome's port city of Civitavecchia is a jewel in itself. When we arrived the owners were trimming their trees and blooming flowers in the courtyard/parking area themselves. Alessandro was so helpful in our check-in process, answering questions about getting to the cruise ship the next morning, directing us to a local grocery within walking distance, and locating wine and snacks for our afternoon "tea" on the patio. Great view from the 2nd floor to the afternoon soccer game in the stadium across the way. The onsite restaurant served a great meal of gnocchi for one and grilled fresh fish for myself. The free shuttle to the cruise port was another reason to stay in this great hotel. A definite go-back-to!
Review 98:One of the two reading lamps in my room needed a replacement bulb, but since I was the only occupant, I needed only one reading lamp. That was my only complaint - otherwise, everything was wonderful: room, reception, restaurant and transfers.
Review 99:The hotel provides a transfer service from the airport to the hotel, and from the hotel to the port. Andrea, the driver, was professional yet friendly, and brought us to both hotel and port 'salvo e sano'. The rooms, while smallish, were well-equipped and comfortable, with a large enough bathroom. We were only staying one night before boarding our cruise ship, so we didn't need a lot of entertainment, etc. But the TV did provide several English channels, including films. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was superb. The seafood was fresh, the pasta was wonderful, and the service was very good. Breakfast is included in the room price, and the buffet was astoundingly lavish - eggs & bacon, pastries, a variety of juices, etc. in addition to the usual Italian cold meats and cheeses, bread rolls, etc. All in all, I was very satisfied with this hotel. It is not on the coast itself, but nearby - and you can see the Mediterranean from the dining area! It lives up to its name, 'Borgo del Mare', which means 'The Neighbourhood of the Sea' - and it is exactly in the neighbourhood. I will definitely stay here again.
Review 100:Restaurant was very cold at opening, some guests went back to room and got a coat.
Review 101:Location was near passenger terminal port. Hotel provided transport from airport and free transport to the passenger terminal at the port. Restaurant on site, excellent staff, good quality food and reasonable.
Review 102:There isn't anything I didn't like. If I was staying more then one night I might look closer to the city centre for a hotel. But, for what we were doing it was perfect.
Review 103:I like the size of the hotel, if offered breakfast and I knew there was a restaurant where we could have a late dinner upon our arrival. They also offered a free shuttle to the port.
Review 104:Nothing to not really like. It's not somewhere you'd pick for a longer holiday but neither is Civitavecchia.
Review 105:Friendly, unfussy service. Handy having restaurant on site. Perfect for what we needed which was one "quiet" night between frenetic Florence and chaotic Rome!
Review 106:too far from town to walk, need to take a cab.
Review 107:The hotel was close to town but not in the noise of the city. Our welcome from staff was a warm one, knowing just enough English to be helpful. The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. The restaurant had an amazing menu with something for everyone. The free shuttle to the port and ships was a perfect start to our Mediterranean cruise.
Review 108:English language skills of one member of staff not so good.
Review 109:The Romanian cook/chef was fantastic, we arrived very late and she cooked us dinner. Nice hoping distance to airport. Good direction signs from town to hotel.
Review 110:The service was excellent, they contact you to offer a transfer from the airport (extra charge) and there is a transfer (inclusive, without charge) to the port (we went on a cruise)
Review 111:All was fine, just give yourself time to walk around and see the beachand restaurants.
Review 112:We had 9 people in our family group fly into Rome fco and the hotelshuttle met us as planned and took us and all of our luggage to thehotel promptly. We spent the night and the shuttle took us the nextmorning right to the cruise ship porters to load the luggage on theship. This was the easiest, fastest, hassle free transfer and boardingwe've ever been on:). The hotel staff handled this very well and aresuper friendly. We ate dinner in the restaurant and everyone orderedsomething different, and everyone was happy with the entire evening.
Review 113:Nice hotel, about 15min. walk to town. Grocery- store nearby. Easy to come with car, lots of parking space. Nice and helpful staff, good breakfast.Nice rooms.
Review 114:the only small thing was the shower leaking
Review 115:I thought it was one of the best hotels I had stayed in Europe, very friendly staff and Manager and could speak good english and had everything organised for us even though we had not told him we were going on cruise Good food close to port
Review 116:Location from the actual town centre is some distance. We were already aware of this, therefore it did not impact.
Review 117:One of the better hotels in Civitavecchia. The staff are friendly and willing to assist. Meals surprisingly good.
Review 118:Location? No public transfor? It's ok, already knew about that before I booking it.
Review 119:It's not so big, but very clean and nice. The boss and his sun and the staffs there are all very nice. The sunset 7 minutes walking to the sea was the best. Breakfast was nice also. Enjoyed the two nights there very much! Just the free shuttle only for the morning time, we need to know it earlier.
Review 120:Hard to see what makes this a 4 star. No facilities for being outside. Very noisy between rooms and hallways. Poor overpriced restaurant with no clients I saw in 5 days. Small rooms with small beds.
Review 121:Clean and good service. Reasonably close to the centre of town and I think there's a shuttle bus to the port. Parking.
Review 122:Just a tad too far to walk into the hub of downtown.
Review 123:Property is clean, attractive, modern yet retains a feel of antiquity. Beds are comfortable, showers are terrific and the restaurant has very good food. They provde a complimentary breakfast and shuttle to the port.
Review 124:Small intimate boutique hotel, excellent dinner on the terrace, delicious continental breakfast, value for the money, cleanliness, free wifi, free shuttle to port and the courteous staff.
Review 125:The dinner menue was very poor and there was very little to do
Review 126:The staff were friendly and as we were going on a cruise the free shuttle to the ship was great
Review 127:It was quite a distance from the main centre of town. This did notmatter for us as we were just staying overnight to catch a cruise thenext morning but could be important if you wanted to stay longer andsee the town.
Review 128:It was close to the port and provided a free shuttle to the ship. It wasclean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Therestaurant was small but served a very good meal.
Review 129:This hotel was the perfect choice for our overnight stay prior to our cruise. The hotel location is great, not on the busy street. The staff were very accomodating. Nice restaurant on-site so could just relax after a long flight and get some relaxation prior to boarding the ship. The shuttle service to the port was an added bonus.
Review 130:Perfect hotel for our pre cruise stay. Pick up from Rome airport, and next day shuttle service from hotel to port. They also returned us to Rome airport after our cruise. Very friendly staff and nothing too much trouble. Not in the centre of Civitivecchia, but would recommend for pre cruise stay.
