Reviews for Mamilla Hotel - The Leading Hotels of the World

Review 1:Size of room not like publicity in Booking.com ,TV 30" or less in 5 start Hotel ?? ,Spanish channel not connected (in the channel list printed near the TV was number CH32) and later the desk respond is not available

Review 2:Studio rooms are a bit too small, and shower uses too much bath room space.

Review 3:Location: almost everything's in short walking distance (15 minutes). Beautiful designed lobby. Rooftop restaurant with marvelous view of the Old city. Excellent and very helpful staff.

Review 4:Room was ok, but not the luxurious one that one would expect after seeing the lobby. It was relatively small too. There was no view to speak of either.

Review 5:Location is excellent and the lobby and breakfast areas are very cool. The wait staff a breakfast was excellent as was the front desk. They also gave us a pass to the Israeli museum when we let them know we were going there. Great workout facility, much needed after the amazing food in Israel.

Review 6:Scent in the hallways. Very strong. Locked out of room because of technical difficulty because of hour change. Also didn't have a view of anything.

Review 7:Location. Decor and staff.

Review 8:If you stay in a standard room instead of a suite it's very likely that would hear your next door neighbours because every room seems to be arranged "in pairs", with a connecting door.

Review 9:Efficient and friendly staff (I can't recommend them enough!), great location, extremely comfortable beds, close to the centre but within the modern area of Jerusalem

Review 10:There wasn't enough counter space in the bathroom. We had a hard time changing our glass from transparent to opaque.

Review 11:The concierge was extremely helpful. The room was pleasant and the location fabulous.

Review 12:A perfect location around Jerusalem. The hotel had a connecting access to the Manila Mall - perfect. The rooftop restaurant was awesome. Perfect to capture the sundown each day of the city. As the light switches on around the Old City Gates, as magical sight with a drink on your hand. The lobby of the hotel is excellent. Staff is friendly..seems like home.

Review 13:Started with us being kept waiting in the lobby for our room till 4.30 pm after travelling a long way and expecting a 2pm check in. The hotel was dirty. Our room corridor smelled like curry. There were terrible odours all over the hotel. The lobby area was filled with loud wedding goers. The roof top was closed for a function (one of the reasons we chose the hotel) Our room was dirty - so were all the common areas. Our children's room was tiny. The shower is open plan but floods whole bathroom. It is marketed as a boutique exclusive hotel and felt more like a hectic, chain style conference hotel. And at a huge premium! No value for money or exclusivity. The pool area is in a dungeon and filled with screaming kids - echos! not at all relaxing or pleasant. Over.all a huge dissapointment

Review 14:The location is good.

Review 15:The service is limited on the Sabbath - quaint or irritating - you decide! It's pretty standard in Jerusalem though...

Review 16:The hotel is within easy (pedestrian) walking distance of old city, there is shopping in the street below, and everything about it was clean, modern, and exclusive. The rooftop restaurant was FANTASTIC.

Review 17:Food awful. Room service menu and food supplied really bad. smell of cigarette smoke wafting through air con ducts into my room. Offered to change my room but I had only one night to go . Not worth the trouble.

Review 18:Room nice. Staff very polite and obliging. Bed so comfortable. Amenities in room very good.

Review 19:Morning coffee was not great. If you don't drink expresso, the American coffee is either very weak or very gritty.

Review 20:Location and facilities were great

Review 21:A solo traveler blending business and leisure the Mamilla is pure perfection. Perfectly located across from the Old City, every great restaurant, impeccable staff, AWESOME gym, stellar room - PERFECT!! You cannot do better!!

Review 22:Last day, I was very sick, I ask to reception to make the check out one hour later, 13 pm instead 12 pm, but they said no, the reason too many check in on that day, but it was on February and for the breakfast dining room i can saw the hotel has a very low occupancy. There are small differences between good hotels and great hotels.

Review 23:The location is very good, close to the old city, perfect for a tourist visit, the facilities and staff are correct, but nothing exceptional, in Europe this hotel is not a luxury hotel.

Review 24:great location to the old city - i can even see the wall through my window. super cool gym, swiming poor and spa. great breakfast. nice decoration. nice staff. will check in here again next time in jerusalem.

Review 25:Nothing. It was great!

Review 26:I have stayed at many hotels over the years. This one is definitely one of the best. It is quite party and trendy But it all works brilliantly. The rooms are light airy clean and very modern. Mine had a view over the Old City. Despite the central location and was remarkably quiet. The food was sumptuous and the gym and swimming pool both clean and well equipped.

Review 27:Service at the restaurant was not up to standards compared to the rest.

Review 28:Simply amazing interior decoration of the rooms. Most beautiful room I ever stayed in. Expensive yes but well worth it. Vey happy to have bit the bullet and paid that much.

Review 29:Bathroom is a disaster. Bed is poor ( foam !!!! ) daily clean poor. No desk for laptop. Sun deck is poor, no where to sit outside other than at breakfast area; no views, other than on roof restaurant. Swimming pool dark. Lot of areas smelly. Ordered taxis, never came on time.

Review 30:Design of hotel is great, especially lobby and even room, although it is all about design and not comfort. ( e.g. no where to put one' toiletries, dressing gown, nighty. Hairdryer in Cupboard !!!! ) Daily papers, great. Sweets and fruit great.

Review 31:My stay here wasn't long enough!!!!

Review 32:I was on the 3rd floor above the busiest street around and the sound proofing was incredible. It was my best nights sleep in Israel! Everything at the hotel spoke comfort from the lobby to the office center to the restaurants to the bedroom.

Review 33:Bathroom Small rooms In a hotel of this class, I sort of expect a little something to welcome you. (fruit, cookies, water...or...)

Review 34:Location Design Spa and Gym Breakfast! Nice staff, especially at breakfast

Review 35:No meat on the menu but then it was Ramadan when we were there. No faults to mention.

Review 36:The location and presentation. Staff made you feel they would do anything to make your stay perfect.

Review 37:At this price point things should sing and dance and there should certainly be wifi in the room and all common areas. And there wasn't.

Review 38:Location, friendly, if young and inexperienced staff. Nice breakfast And helpful concierge staff

Review 39:It's a very very unique hotel.the service is so careful.i like it.

Review 40:Leaving

Review 41:Service superb, concierge , most helpful in booking guided tours of historical sights. Breakfasts and restaurants 1st class.

Review 42:Nothing

Review 44:The food was no good at all. To modern and it did not work.

Review 45:Location, staff.

Review 46:Staff excellent Food great Amazing location

Review 47:Rooms are small and a bit awkward

Review 48:Modern, perfect location, good amenities

Review 49:The entire hotel, the ambiance, decor , staff, room all of it!

Review 50:Everything !! Can't find anything wrong !

Review 51:They didn't put new soap when I ran out in the shower. The a/c didn't work perfectly

Review 52:Most everything

Review 53:Room was stuffy and took 24 hrs to cool to the correct temp despite calling maintenance twice

Review 54:Helpful staff

Review 55:very very low quality hotel - a must avoid

Review 56:Not having our door pool

Review 57:Parking

Review 58:Serenity

Review 59:Small room, poor breakfast

Review 60:Location.

Review 61:Make you reserve a table on the roof-top restaurant - the view is amazing.

Review 62:One of the best hotels in the world

Review 63:No outdoor pool

Review 64:The design and size of the bathrooms .

Review 65:Reception staff

Review 66:The privacy of the bathroom

Review 67:Concierge was excellent .

Review 68:i miss some thinks out of my room

Review 69:I liked the location and very friendly staff

Review 70:Location and great staff.

Review 71:Everything was just amazing.

Review 72:Too little Space in bathroom counter.

Review 73:Excellent overall. Best internet access during our travel in Israel

Review 74:Food

Review 75:All is excellent

Review 76:Nothing-This is our fourth stay at Mamilla.

Review 77:Location,concierge,Sukka & toileteries

Review 78:the food was terrible at breakfast

Review 79:the location and the room are excellent.

Review 80:Everything

Review 81:The calm and the spa

Review 82:Room view

Review 83:Location

Review 84:Very little.

Review 85:Overall enjoyable. Rooftop restaurant facing the Old City and rooftop sundeck. Only disadvantage was swimming pool was indoors.

Review 86:Air conditioning was not super cold in bedroom. Could be better. Granite bath was not comfy. Curtains were not completely black out. Water not hot enough for tea at breakfast

Review 87:Style! Wet room in bedroom great idea. Rooftop bar and terrace and sun deck excellent. Knowledgeable and helpful staff

Review 88:No hooks in the bathroom to hang towels once used. There are two tiny hooks above the tub, which are hard to reach, and don't really work. A/C was very weak, even on max fan and max cool.

Review 89:Decor outstanding, staff very friendly and accommodating. Location ideal for access to the old city.

Review 90:NEVER AGAIN.. check in was friendly but they try to sell you another room for a few 100$ more. I was charged on my credit card for the room even though i payed all my bills in cash at site, with a bill to prove it. Rooms are too small quality & price wise. the worst room service ever in 49yrs of my travel around the world. They offered to upgrade us to a suit with an extra charge which we accepted. i complained after a few things which was not in place for a five star hotel. finally they tried to wave their lack of 5* hotel experience with a fruit platter & a bottle of spumante. over all i wouldn't return back. i returned back to Jerusalem & tried the King David hotel which had amazing service & very professional staff with spectacular views. PS; Still waiting for my refund on my cash card. i called the hotel a few times & spoke to a very rude hotel manager that refuses to believe that my cash card was charged even though the hotel received full payment in cash upon my departure. VERY DISAPPOINTED CUSTOMER.

Review 91:The spa was very modern & zen, though i could;t see nor use the pool due to private lessons. but the staff were very polite. modern gym too.

Review 92:too few and very inadequate and ineffective cooling fans on the brilliant rooftop restaurant on hot days, of which there are many in Jerusalem

Review 93:Beautiful calm and very stylish interior design my Italian Piero Lissoni; wonderful helpful staff - laid-back but super-efficient;perfect location for whatever/wherever you want in Jerusalem; great breakfast

Review 94:I was only there for one night and went especially to use the roof restaurant and bar which was closed due to a private function. Then the pool was closed on the morning of my departure for maintenance so I could not swim in the morning. The closure of the pool and inability to use the roof restaurant and bar diminished my enjoyment of staying at the hotel and reduced the facilities available to a lower star rating than I had paid for. There were also issues with the key card to my room which resulted in me taking several trips up and down in the lift to report this and obtain assistance. Eventually this issue was solved but should have been addressed much quicker and not relied on me to keep coming back to reception to say the key did not work in spite of it being recalibrated.

Review 95:Swimming pool, location, .

Review 96:The prices (super high) compared with level of the standard room ( nice, modern, chic) are not appropriate.

Review 97:I liked the position, very central, the terrace bar great view, the style modern and chic.

Review 98:The room is very small. The light balls in several places needed replacing The double blanket was too small for 2 people Overall too expensive for the value

Review 99:The breakfast was great The room is beautifully designed

Review 100:The dark decor was a bit much at times.

Review 101:Hotel was beautiful and amazingly located. The roof deck was a special spot and I wish we used it more during our stay!

Review 102:The shower room was terribly conceived. If you want to take a shower that means your are going to make a flood

Review 103:Location Restaurant staff Everything else

Review 104:the room was rather small and faced the street so a little bit noizy

Review 105:the hotel is amazingly beautiful, in particular the bar, the rooftop, the spa and the sun deck. the location is perfect allowing you to move everywhere. The organization of all facilities excellent.

Review 106:Posh and expensive hotel right in the middle of city, 5 min walk to the Old town. Combination of elegant, contemporary design and atmosphere of ancient citadel. Outstanding breakfast.

Review 107:Not much of a view from my room (220). Breakfast buffet lacked western options. Room was a little on the small size for the price I felt.

Review 108:Excellent staff at reception and the concierge (hosts). Comfortable bed. Excellent location right by the old city. Rooftop restaurant with great views. Brilliant gym facilities. Modern design.

Review 109:Very high price! We visited during Passover festivities and finding open restaurants during these days is very difficult.

Review 110:The staff are very professional and friendly. You will not find a better location in town next to 2 entrances of the old city.

Review 111:The concierge was just fantastic - in particular a lady called Fernanda. She never failed to deliver thoughtful suggestions for our stay, with helpful hints on how to time things and great restaurant suggestions. Room was just great. Bathroom well equipped. Breakfast was amazing, and the two other restaurants are some of the highest rated in Jerusalem- it's a bonus to have them in your building.

Review 112:Very noisy in a hotel because of a bad soundproof of the door. Staff start to clean corridor very early in the morning. Lighting in the bathroom is bad.

Review 113:Place is very good Designe is cool.

Review 114:This hotel strictly applies rules of jewish religion particularly during Shabbat. Respect of kashrout rules implies no hot meals during saturday, no expresso machines, bar closed during shabbat, restricted menu in restaurants. To recommend especially to Jewish praticant. No hot water boilers in rooms. No domestic iron in rooms. No room service.

Review 115:Rooms design, restaurants positions, hotel location near old city and bar streets.

Review 116:Not enough light in the room Cannot read The bathroom is made of natural stone. When getting wet it stinks and you feel suffocating. Not appropriate for people with asthma or allergies , I think The bathroom planned peculiarly but not practically. All the floor is wet after taking shower When I arrived the guy at the enterance didn't open the door, didn't greet me and didn't offer to take my suitcase. I didn't expect a welcome like this )) When checking in I left deposit in cash, but I didn't get any separate bill for that They charged me together for a room and for deposit I wrote down the sum of the deposit that manager Yelena told me I was to get back later. But when checking out I received almost 500 NIS less ( after all additional expenses) It seems like she didn't tell me the right numbers in shekel and didn't count one night stay, in any case it's very unprofessional and not serious I was disappointed as I counted on this money and spent more during my stay, and along with that had to spend time to inquire Also booking.com gives prices in euro and dollars but internal exchange rate in the hotel is very low and final price after convertation is much higher I left my suitcases to be kept during check out but when I wanted to collect them later I had to speak to four different people and it took almost one hour to get them back Some people from the staff even heard for the first time that they have such a service in the hotel I wasted a lot of time and would continue wasting but occasionally I found out that the suitcases were already in the taxi !! Noone told me that they would put it in the car and I didn't ask to put them, I needed to open the suitcases before going out Also noone told me that the taxi arrived!!! And all this time I sat in the lobby at the same place and all the staff saw me Very stupid and embarrassing Luckily I was going to TA and not flying or I would miss the flight

Review 117:Best location in Jerusalem Perfect design

Review 118:The light is very poor in the room and in the lobby I couldn't read in the room at all in the evening and felt sleepy and tired because of it This is the price of the design, that was very interesting but not comfortable I stayed in 2 rooms. First, on the 6th floor and than on the 8th floor On the 6th floor there was unbearable noise of the housekeepers. I kept the sign Do not disturb, but they put their station every morning infront of my door, spoke very loudly Arabic, answer telephones with noisy music, shouted one to another. Not appropriate behavior at all. The vacuum cleaner that they use made such a noise that I first thought it was a missile attack sirena It was so disgusting that I wanted to leave the hotel. Every morning I was waked up when I didn't want and couldn't rest at all On the 8th floor the housekeeping staff was really perfect , they were very quiet and extraordinary helpful

Review 119:The hotel is obviously best in Jerusalem and maybe in all Israel I compare it to the King David and some other Dan hotels The design is fabulous, location is perfect The staff was surprisingly very friendly and attentive. I never got this kind of service in Israel. I don't believe previous critics or they really improved the level Despite some smal imperfections I advise this hotel to everyone You will just not find something better

Review 120:Requested help getting taxi from airport. Misunderstood the complicated form that I was sent and the VIP Service One-way was not for transport but to be meet before passport. The confirmation form directed me to meet driver by the terminal bookstore. No one was there, tried calling service and hotel. Ended up taking a cab for $80. Later I was told I had to pay anyway full price. That the FORM would be changed. The hotel host should have reviewed the form and told me I was not paying for a ride, as I had requested, but someone to walk me thru passport staion only. This is was very poor service and I feel I was not treated fairly. Do not trust the host service at this hotel.

Review 121:no views to anywhere, room felt claustrophobic. Poorly equipped and small rooms Food not great Floorings and stone walls looked very tired

Review 122:location staff were pleasant

Review 123:What's there not to like? If I could only get a better priced package I would come back in a heartbeat.

Review 124:Amazing breakfast that was open for us till 10:30 am. I like not having to wake up super early on my vacation for fear of missing breakfast. The place is designed in a very unique manner, and the rooms were spacious and very tidy. Amazing location of course.

Review 125:Horrible lighting in rooms, nowhere to put on make up or blow dry my hair. Rooms toooooooo small for $385.00. Staff in front desk very snobbish and with attitude.

Review 126:Great location, beautiful architecture and design of lobby and dining rooms

Review 127:Everything. The staff were all very polite and extremely helpful. I particularly liked the fact that on arrival someone showed me around the hotel and to my room and how everything worked. Even after I had checked out the staff were helpful and polite. Special thanks to Sallaimeh and his team.
