The hotel is a 6-minute drive from Genkyu-en Japanese Garden. It is a 5-minute drive from the Meishin Hikone Interchange (IC), and on-site parking is free.
Every air-conditioned room at Hotel Hikone Station comes with Yukata robes, an LCD TV and an electric kettle with green tea. The en suite bathroom has a bathtub with a shower attachment, and slippers are provided. Japanese-style rooms have futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor.
Dry cleaning and luggage storage can be found at the 24-hour reception. The hotel also has a gift shop, and there is a chargeable internet PC at the lobby.
A Japanese/Western breakfast buffet is served from 07:00-09:00. Sampou and Ueki serve Japanese dishes for lunch and dinner, with Sampou offering traditional Kaiseki course dinners as well.

Review 1：To counter the noise: switch on the room ventilation overnight: worked for us!

Review 2：You get what you pay for. Requested a quiet room and when we still were disturbed by the road traffic and train movement throughout the night, we were offered a free upgrade to a more quiet Japanese-style room. This was larger and comfortable indeed. Staff was overall helpful and pleasant.

Review 3：Very small bathroom (but typical of budget inns and hotels). At least 15min walk from Hikone station without shelter. But a short taxi ride from the station is not expensive.

Review 5：The staff could have not been more helpful,the breakfast was good and the restaurant was worth the trip to Japan alone. The hotel is a bit dated but very clean and at least you feel you are in Japan.

Review 6：close to urban motorway windows needs to be closed to avoid noise from motorway we booked western-style room to have matresses giving relaxe to our backbones, but matresses were hard as tatamis which we had before and after our stay in Hikone.

Review 17：Hikone is a small town and we walked everywhere. The hotel is close to the train station We stayed in a Japanese room and enjoyed it. The person on duty spoke very good English and was very helpful. Internet available upon request but only for wired. Bring a router if you need wi-fi.

Review 18：There was a bit of noise from the railway, so if your a really light sleeper it's perhaps not the best place. However it wasn't too noisy.

Review 22：Hotel was a 10-15 minute walk to Ryoutanji and 2 other temples which are worth visiting considering the old history of Shiga prefecture. It was not that far from the castle too. Good deal for the money.

Review 23：It is hard to find because of the hotel sigh is all in Japanese, even we are in front of the hotel, we still were not sure that we were in the right place.

Review 26：The staff are good honest people. I would say that, out of the 4 hotels I stayed at in Japan, this was my favorite. Very down to earth, not fancy, but not falling apart or anything. Absolutely nothing wrong with this place, and it was dirt cheap to boot!
