Reviews for Al Giardino Degli Etruschi

Review 1:Carolina and Paolo were excellent hosts. She even drove us into town to the car rental and stayed to make sure all was ok. I wish we had more time to relax and enjoy the property.

Review 2:The guest rooms are on the second floor and the outside stone stairs are uneven and difficult to go up or down, especially when wet and at night.

Review 3:We stayed four nights and wish we could have stayed longer. Everything is super clean, charming and comfortable. Carolina and Paolo are excellent hosts and make their guests feel like family. We would definitely stay here again.

Review 4:It's a trifle but the rooms are on the second floor (european first floor) and the main exterior stair could use some additional repair.

Review 5:Carolina and Paolo are terrific hosts. Carolina's English is excellent and she enthusiastically shares her knowledge of the area so we saw things that we would not have known about. The big house has been very well restored and the rooms are large. Our four days there went by too fast. The location is really convenient for going to the hill towns and also to Orvieto and Siena. Breakfast, which we had on the terrace in the morning sun was very good and Carolina was happy to cook eggs in addition to all the other food available. We were there in mid Sept so it was too cool for the pool but it is large and well maintained. There is a large area of secure parking on the property. The rooms on the east side are quieter.

Review 6:A unique experience given by the wonderful, charming hosts, who welcome you like you're their own family, and do everything to make you happy and feeling at home! An oasis of calm in beautiful Tuscan landscape, surrounded by fascinating villages and most interesting places to see in the region.

Review 7:The slow internet connection at times. Otherwise nothing!

Review 8:Everything! Carolina and Paulo are wonderful hosts, they made us feel at home from the start. They gave us good advice on what to see and where to eat. They also served dinner on request. The house is old and charming, the rooms very comfortable. The garden includes a pool, which makes it nice on hot days. A wonderful place far from the madding crowds.

Review 9:We loved the hospitality of Carolina and Paolo. We were not disappointed after reading the reviews. Great place to stay, relaxing. The home made dinner was delicious. We will definitely come back again.

Review 10:Carolina and Paulo are very good hosts and make the stay very special. They provide lovely breakfasts and evening meals and give great advice about places to visit and go to eat.

Review 11:Hosts are lovely, happy and engaged. Nice breakfasts (goose or chicken eggs), patio dinners, perfect swimming pool and new puppies (goats) to visit on property.

Review 12:Trains and highway can be a bit noisy

Review 13:Carolina & Paolo make your stay special , they did everything to help us, even reserved our train tickets to Rome. Gave great advise on local restaurants plus breakfast was wonderful on the patio

Review 14:Our fault, not theirs!! As it was our first time in the area we did find it a little challenging to find the address...signage is a problem in Italy when you don't speak Italian and sometimes there are no directional signs at all. We did find local people who spoke enough English to steer us in the right direction and we are so glad they did:)

Review 15:Our hosts, Carolina and Paul, made us feel like family even before we had arrived! Carolina had shared information about things we might want to do/see in the Val d' Orcia region nearby as we had told her that we were renting a car to see the Tuscany that we had come so far to see. Without her suggestion we would never have looked for, or found, Monticello, a highlight of our day in the region. We regretted not having booked more than one night...the warm hospitality, beautiful surroundings at their home, and the comfortable stay made for a travel chapter to remember. Even though Carolina and Paul must have had many guests over the time since they opened about 2008, they made us feel as if we were their most special guests...in the busy world of hospitality they show their appreciation for travellers finding the path to their door...our visit with them in beautiful Tuscany will be long remembered!

Review 16:I can't rave enough about the gorgeous apartment and superb location of this charming villa. When we arrived, we were delighted to find it even more beautiful and captivating than the online photos. We loved having breakfast either in the lovely dining room or out on the wonderful terrace overlooking the lawn and the valley. Our family of five (including my parents, husband and my two-year-old) rented the newly-renovated two-bedroom apartment which has a well-equipped kitchen, two full-size bedrooms and a massive bathroom (I actually did my workout in the bathroom, that's how big it is). We loved cooking and eating in the comfortable dining room--there's a large, affordable supermarket about 10 minutes drive away. However, the most memorable experience of our stay was spending time with the incredibly warm, generous and knowledgeable hosts, Carolina and Paolo. Months before our trip, I emailed Carolina for help with some of our arrangements and she patiently and tirelessly answered my many questions.Every morning of our stay, Carolina baked fresh cakes and we greatly enjoyed coffee, pastries and conversation under the warm morning sun. Carolina was also critical in helping us plan our little excursions every day around the Tuscan countryside. Chiusi is perfectly situated, like the eye of a wheel, to visit dozens of ancient towns in all directions. We spent each day heading in a new direction: the highlights for us were Orvieto and Mosti garden to the South, Montelpuciano to the West and Cortona to the North. Amazing places on all sides! Also, make sure to visit the incredible gardens of La Foce for one of their tours which are only on Weds and Sat. You can rent a car right by the train station in Chiusi. All in all, I'm so pleased that I chose Al Giardino Degli Etruschi. You never know what you will get when you make a booking online from a far away country (our group came from China and the US), but this time the fates smiled upon us.

Review 17:Nothing!! We loved our stay!! But a few points that might be useful to know; as other guests noted there is a bullet train that is visible from the property but still a fair distance away we did not hear it and did not affect our sleep quality at all. No tv in room but this wasn't a problem for us.

Review 18:Lovely, friendly, helpful hosts thanks!!!! Charming residence & rooms Excellent breakfast with homemade treats Maps & local info & tips provided by hosts, including great restaurant recommendations Great location in Tuscany close to many cute villages Comfy bed & lovely bedding Lovely toiletries, nice brand Lovely gift of small homemade jams - thanks!! :-) Host spoke great English- was a great help!! Overall great experience and def recommend this intimate, charming Tuscan b&b

Review 19:Carolina and Paolo are the best - from their great travel & dining advice to the absolutely delicious pie baking. The location of the house is amazing as well - a great base to cover both Tuscany and Umbria sights. At first we had planned to stay one night, then we ended up staying three. Super lovely getaway! Thanks again!

Review 20:nothing.

Review 21:Very warm welcome. Excellent service and breakfast; especially the home made pies of Carolina. Comfortable and very clean room. Good surprise to find in our room 2 small delicious pot of honey. :) I recommend this place, you will not regret. Thank you Carolina & Paolo.

Review 22:Carolina was the best host ever!! I don't think anyone will ever match up! We even got a cake for the journey, and believe me, it came handy! Will hopefully be returning at some point. We had only one night here, and wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks again for everything!!

Review 23:This place was the highlight of our trip through Italy! The couple running the B&B is great! They gave us great tips on places to visit around the area and where to get food. We wish we could have stayed longer!

Review 24:Proximity to the train, although thankfully seemed not to be a factor at night and the fact that we were only able to spend one day here.

Review 25:Gracious hosts, relaxing atmosphere, proximity to small-town Tuscany, terrific dinner recommendations (ask to go to the place with the underground wine cellar), comfortable beds, very fair price... and Gracious hosts. :)

Review 26:Nothing.

Review 27:The wonderful couple who run this inn are so helpful and kind. We stayed at this hotel on our drive up north, but we ended up getting there so late--close to 1am! The couple was so gracious when we arrived and woke them from their sleep! The room was somewhat basic but very clean, beautiful views. Breakfast on the terrace was so cozy and again, the couple was so helpful with directions and recommendations. We would definitely return.

Review 28:It would be nice if there was a way to open the gate without buzzing the bell, allowing people to stay out later. But everything else was wonderful.

Review 29:The couple was fantastic. They gave good recommendations in the area, a nice breakfast, and even left small gifts of local food in the room. It is a great home in a beautiful area.

Review 30:location was a little difficult to find

Review 31:We chose to have dinner in and it was excellent value. owners were very helpful and informative

Review 32:All staff extremely helpful.

Review 33:Carolina and Paolo are just gorgeous, and it is such a beautiful property. My children loved the goats and dogs and cats, and the pool!

Review 34:A great value and wonderful owners

Review 35:Wish the room has airconditioning

Review 36:A relaxing garden oasis with wonderful hosts in Carolina & Paolo

Review 37:No hosts could do more to ensure our stay was special.Recommendations of places to visit proved invaluable.

Review 38:Carolina and Paolo were great! So friendly, giving us tips for restaurants and sights. Room was spacious, clean and comfy; breakfast was nice

Review 39:No dislikes

Review 40:The friendliness and helpfulness of the couple who own and manage the bed and breakfast.

Review 41:Train noise outside and proximity to main road.

Review 42:Owners were lovely and extremely kind

Review 43:The owners are so obliging and friendly . The place is beautiful and very handy for visiting surrounding areas

Review 44:This BB is really beautiful facility in the immediate vicinity of Chiusi. The owners are very helpful, they recommended us some restaurants in Chiusi and Sarteano which we were happy to visit. We have been there for one night only but we won't forget it :)

Review 45:Nothing. It's spectacular.

Review 46:Carolina and Paulo were just incredible hosts. We came as strangers and left as friends. If we win the lotto we will come back to stay for a very long time. Wonderful experience.

Review 47:The hotel is ideally located if you are travelling by car. Within 1 hour drive you will find enough attractions to keep you busy for several weeks! The most outstanding "feature" of the place is the unmatched hospitality of the owners; they do everything possible for you to feel comfortable and we really appreciated this.

Review 48:Nothing we could complain about all good.

Review 49:Good location just out of town, you will need a car though. The owners are great and very helpful we have made friends and will stay again when we are next in Italy. We stayed for 5 days as we needed a rest from the constant travelling and this was a great place to do it. Do not expect five star, but very good rooms and nice feel about the whole place. The animals are fun with two watch geese who make sure everyone knows you have arrived.

Review 50:I cannot think of one thing I would want to change about our stay with carolina and paulo.

Review 51:The hosts carolina and paulo were so welcoming and friendly , we felt there was nothing they would not do for their quests to make it a most enjoyable and relaxing stay. We loved every minute.

Review 52:We cannot think of anything we did not like

Review 53:The hospitality and friendliness of the hosts, very helpful with suggestions of places to see, always on hand if required, the decor , tastefully decorated and fresh,a very relaxing atmosphere, the location, central for our day trips,to Assisi, Siena, Cortona, Perrugia, Montepulciano and Orvieto etc. Overall a great stay with a wonderful couple, and would stay again with no hesitation

Review 54:This place was perfect for us as we didn't spend much time at the house, really, other than sleeping and breakfast. That being said don't expect the movie-like hilltop villa with a server in white gloves bringing you wine while you're fanned with a palm frond or something. You can get those for $600+ euros a night somewhere else. This place is a great value and the value comes from the only slightly reduced aesthetic of the surroundings (near a train and road). It didn't bother us, though, and was barely noticeable.

Review 55:Carolina and Paulo were over-the-top accommodating to anything and everything you could ever want. That is the biggest plus of this place. My wife is gluten free and they even made special items to fit her needs. So nice! The breakfast is really great (juice, tea, coffee, cakes, jams, cereal, fruit, eggs if you request, etc); the house has a lot of character and old features with modern comfort updates, and its a great value compared to other B&Bs around. Comfy bed and nice, clean rooms. Carolina (speaks great english) and Paulo spent over an hour with us helping us plan a wine tasting tour of the area, made many phone calls for us, and they are truly passionate about helping their guests have the best time possible. Highly recommended!

Review 56:Carolina and Paolo were the best hosts. As soon as we arrived they took the time to tell us about places to visit. We got some of the best recommendations of the trip from them. The farmhouse and rooms were very beautiful, and breakfast was excellent as well. We had a really good time.

Review 57:Nothing

Review 58:We loved the couple who own the B&B. They did everything possible to ensure we had a great time. They went out of their way to make recommendations on dining, travel and quaint spots not to miss. Their home is charming and breakfast was perfect. There was a great space in the common area for relaxing so you never confined to your room. If you want to experience real Tuscany, this is your place.

Review 59:Extremely friendly welcome, beautiful property, very close to Chiusi yet in the marvellous countryside. Difficult to find better.

Review 60:Great location , wonderful hosts

Review 61:Run by a delightful young couple who put their hearts into this beautiful place. An unforgettable Tuscan experience. Wish we could live there.
