Reviews for Hikone Castle Resort & Spa
Review 1:The staff were wonderful - warm, helpful, caring. The facilities are amazing! The rooms are gracious and large for a Japanese hotel. The appointments are lovely, great quality, and extremely convenient -- for example, there are many outlets. They give you 2 traditional Japanese robes to wear, with instructions for what to wear to different places, as well as 2 pairs of traditional slippers; these really added to our enjoyment of the experience. The public spaces are fabulous, particularly the two Japanese baths - great views of the castle, lovely granite pools, extremely clean and well-kept. The library, with free drinks of various kinds, is also a great place to sit and talk. And the food... I can't say enough great things about it. The breakfast buffet was delicious and varied, with both western and traditional Japanese foods. The multi-course dinner was the best Japanese food I've ever eaten, hands-down. My daughter had never eaten sushi or cared for cooked fish -- but the preparation, freshness, and variety was so amazing that she ate sushi and came to really appreciate fish! Even the gift shop was great; I found many of the best quality pottery items I'd been seeking. It's terrific quality at a great value. I would recommend to anyone, and will definitely go back!
Review 2:There is no closet in the room, and it's a bit cramped.
Review 3:Excellent dinners, very comfortable bed, had a great view of the castle from my room, and enjoyed the castle view communal bath. Very professional acupressure massage.
Review 4:Breakfast can be improved. The wind speed of the air conditioning inside the room is too high even if it is turned to the lowest. Hence, there was no avoiding of cold air blowing to my face whilst I slept...
Review 5:The hotel is right next to Hikone castle and is very easy distance to the train station. The best part is the lounge on 2nd floor that has the review of the castle. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly too. The public bath is also exceptional. Will definitely visit again!

Review 22:castle view from bath free beer
Review 23:The location is perfect for visiting the castle. The staff also allowed us to use their parking lot beyond the 1100 checkout time. I would stay there again.
Review 24:The size of the window...really too small to really appreciate the view from it
Review 25:Excellent location next to the cattle in a pleasant neighbourhood and near eating places
Review 26:I loved the view from the room, and being so close to the castle. Beautiful old castle town, great to wander around. Some lovely shops in traditional old buildings.
Review 27:Sadly nearby restaurants closed too early for us to enjoy a dinner meal outside the hotel on the night of our arrival. Hotel parking limited on street in front of building. If arriving by car come early.
Review 28:Requested clear view of castle was honored. It was perfect sight along the surrounding moat up to the castle on mountain top. Easy walk to nearby Hikone castle. Staff friendly and helpful. Twin share room larger than we expected, particularly the bathroom which one normally expects to be small in Japan.
