Reviews for Hotel Mauritania Centre Tanger

Review 1:One of the young staff members called a taxi for my friends and I and made a comment about how all women are terrible drivers when he saw a women parking a car and then he said, "Imagine a woman driving and a man in the kitchen!" and laughed. We were extremely annoyed at being insulted us to our faces since we're all women, licensed drivers, and capable of traveling internationally. Whatever, dude.

Review 2:Great value for the price and a really central location.

Review 3:Very good location. The gentleman who handles the reception desk in the evenings is the most helpful and genuinely kind man that I have met in a very long time- he is exceptional.

Review 4:Good central location although the downside of this was that it was quite noisy at night.

Review 5:Good en suite bathroom, friendly and efficient reception, very comfortable bed, spacious room.

Review 6:At this price nothing to complain about at all.

Review 7:Mohammed on reception was extremely helpful and nothing too much trouble. Position of the property was excellent in Petit Socco. Pretty noisy location, but that didn't bother me at all. Part of the atmosphere.

Review 8:Didn't have anything I dislike.

Review 9:Amazing service, friendly and very helpful staff. I had great time staying there. Great location also. Well recommended!

Review 10:Best deal for the money. Clean, spacious and great and accomodating staff. I had a room at the front and yes, you will hear people talking (and sometime loudly) in the square below.....but if you are in this part of the world for the experience....whats wrong with it :-).

Review 11:When I asked to borrow a hairdryer, the old reception guy told me I need to pay 2 euros for that. I got shocked. And quoted from him "the price includes nothing". Quite rude for someone who works in a hotel!

Review 12:The bathroom was clean. There was shampoo.

Review 13:The rooms can be quite noisy: they gave me the option to have a quiet room without wifi or a less quiet room with wifi. It appeared that the noisy room was very noise and I hardly slept.

Review 14:Good location, in the old part of town. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 15:The bathroom had a bad smell.

Review 16:Hotel had a great location in the middle of the medina, close to the great vibe of Tangier. It was easy to find and had working wifi access. It's a bit noisy as it is in the middle of everything looking to a big, busy square and you wake up at night when you hear the muezzin, but it's part of the experience and we loved it. One tip: if you want to have "Only lovers left alive" experience, visit the BABA bar!

Review 17:The mattress was a bit soft for my taste, but that's because I prefer a firm one. The street noise is audible through the closed windows, so light sleepers are advised to bring ear plugs.

Review 18:The location was ideal for tourists, right in the heart of the Petit Socco. The staff members spoke pretty good English and were very helpful. The room was clean and spacious.

Review 19:The noise outside wasn't really blocked, even if you close the windows, you can hear the loud noise from the square. The WiFi signal was rather weak in the rooms.

Review 20:It was centrally-located, right in the Petit Socco.

Review 21:The hotel is in a brilliant location and the staff are very helpful and speak a number of languages. This isn't a luxury hotel but serves as a good base for anyone exploring Tangier. If you're looking for a luxury experience I'd say go elsewhere but for the essentials this place is great.

Review 22:Water was badly clogging in the shower and some litter in the bin was left from previous guest. Room had a balcony!

Review 23:Location is good. Staff is very friendly, speaks English well.

Review 24:Awful and noisy surroundings - we stayed 2 nights and to sleep was impossible - all the time screams, shouts etc. And the look through the window - the worst I ever have seen - total rubbish... and the smell...no comments...

Review 25:Location in the old town

Review 26:There was a damp smell coming from the bathroom when we arrived, but after leaving the window open for a while it went away. The street was very noisy downstairs, for most of the night.

Review 27:The hotel is located right in the medina, but quite close to the sea. The room was ok, the bed was confortable.

Review 28:A bit noisy but I could live with it and I knew before.

Review 29:Very nice stuff, always helpful. Speaking most of the necessary languages. All they can do for the customer, they do!!!

Review 30:Quite a bit of the potential is wasted unnecessarily: It is almost unbearably noisy at night, sound proof windows qould solve this problem. Two light bulbs in the room were broken and no one seemed to care. After complaining one was exchanged.

Review 31:Good location, fairly priced, could be a great hotel.

Review 32:No ac or fan, very hot and many mosquitos in the room. Right next to VERY loud square, people and motorbikes outside until 5 am, couldnt sleep at all from 2-5 am.

Review 33:Close to souk, and port if you will take ferry to Tarifa.

Review 34:There was no air conditioning at the hotel so had to leave the windows open to get some air, however, the constant noise from the Petit Socco (until 4am and starting again at 6am) and the call to prayer from the mosques made it impossible to sleep. The wifi only worked in the lounge.

Review 35:The location of the hotel right in the middle of the medina, above Petit Socco. Easy to find after leaving the taxi at Grand Socco. Staff friendly and helpful- there is a wash room available (including shower) if you are waiting for the night train or a late flight.

Review 36:The bathroom/toilet really smelled from the sewers, nothing else the hotel could have done because the building and the area is very old - keep the toilet bowl and door closed. Also this is not part of the hotel, but when you arrive at the medina beware of someone trying to lead your way - we were taken a 15min walk around and when we paid him a few dirhams but he demanded '2 Euros', later we found out we had basically been through the whole medina except the street where the hotel is located.

Review 37:Located in the middle of old medina, hotel was done up nicely and very clean and tidy.

Review 38:The staff at Hotel Mauritania were absolutely amazing - they gave us ae great tips on where to eat and what to see and do, let us hang out in their common room for a good 8 hours while we waited for a train (using their wifi and bathroom, and looking after our bags when we went out a few times). Fantastic location 5mins walk from the Tanger Ville port, right at the bottom of the medina so easy access in and out and surrounded by great eating and drinking options. Couldnt reccomend highly enough!

Review 39:Our trip is too short. We definitely will stay for longer next time. ^^

Review 40:Everything is PERFECT. We love the boss and staff very much! They do not only suggest us where to eat and also bring us to everywhere because of security. They are extremely nice and very good attitude! When we check in, the boss say "you will find the best here" and of course it is true. It is the best! Even the price is like a hostel but it s a very good hotel in a very good location and it is near a big beach and old town with nice view! I love it.

Review 41:satellite tv mainly German..some English news channels..which was ok.. Wi-Fi was good most of time.

Review 42:Hotel staff very friendly and helpful. room was clean and comfortable.. views from roof terrace are excellent..location of the hotel has the real ambience of Tangiers

Review 43:Great little room and most comfortable. We watched the world unfold below us from our balcony. Very good staff also made this stay memorable. Highly recommended.

Review 44:The ensuite was a cosy set up as the door didn't close well it required a presumed level of intamicy with your roommate.

Review 45:The location was right in the middle of the medina and easy to find. The view from the room showed you the medina streets. The staff were helpful and friendly, making the place feel safe and welcoming. There were no hidden extras to pay for and the room was very good value as well as clean and comfortable.

Review 46:wifi not working in rooms, available only in the lobby

Review 47:very good location, in the center of old town, above one of the most interesting squares in city

Review 48:Only the WiFi was not working all the time, but I'm not going on a trip to have WiFi :)

Review 49:The people were really kind, the area is amazing and for the price it's perfect.

Review 50:The staff were so friendly and helpful. My room was good and very comfy. The hotel is in the heart of the medina, and my room overlooked the Petit Socco. I know that people complain about the noise, but after 24 hours I didn't notice it, and earplugs work for sleeping. This is a very good hotel.

Review 51:This hotel is located on the Petit Soco in the Medina where there is great shopping and food. The typical life in a Moroccan Medina is at your doorstep but the rooms are high enough above to be quiet. Clean and the staff is very helpful and personable.

Review 52:Mohammed at the front desk was very knowledgeable and helpful in many ways, making me feel at home there. His stories of the old days guiding interesting people on their visits to Tangiers was fascinating.....especially the Jerry Garcia stories!

Review 53:It's a little noisy because there are several cafe right under. In the morning when it's praying time the mosque nearby is "singing" nonstop for like 20min, looks like mosques in Tangier "sing" longer than other places.

Review 54:The location is good, room is tiny but it has all the necessary facilities. The bed is comfortable and clean.

Review 55:It can't be a bit noisy in the evening so make sure you bring your ear plugs.

Review 56:The location can't be better! Right in the heart of the Medina. Bed is really comfortable. Shower is great. They've just renovated it and they did a fantastic job!

Review 57:The wifi only worked in the reception area, I was able to get it in my room for a bit because my room was right above reception. There was a bad smell coming from the bathroom, even with the bathroom door closed. There were noises from the street and normally that doesn't bother me except when they're blowing horns at 5 in the bloody morning.

Review 58:Location in the medina was alright, I don't know, it was just an alright kind of place. Private bathroom

Review 59:The wifi is only at the launch, and not available at the room.

Review 60:The hotel is one of the best places I stayed in Morocco. Its staff at the reception, especially Mr. Muhammad, is very helpful. He also speaks very good English and is ready to give you any suggestions. Really liked the place.

Review 61:Hotel Mauritania is at an excellent location within the medina. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Only problem is the noise until late hours of the evening. Otherwise, it does have my endorsement!

Review 62:No Wi-Fi in the rooms, reception only. No daily cleaning, by request only. If you need a dayly cleaning - don't be shy to ask for it everyday. The real problem is a hot water: have to wait for minutes to get the acceptable temperature.

Review 63:As there was no Wi-Fi in the rooms, I spent a lot of time at the reception with the night receptionists/porters. They are all very good men. Stay in the center of Medina - with 3 mosques around - was a great experience: listening for muezzins prays - it was really early in the morning, but really good.

Review 64:WiFi was a but weak in the rooms but I asked to move closer to reception and they did without a fuss; shower didn't drain properly.

Review 65:Excellent staff, very helpful. Everything is new and clean, and you can have your room serviced as needed. Hot showers. Excellent location in the medina with a great balcony for people watching.

Review 66:No wifi, had to scalp wifi from the cafe downstairs which the hotel manager gave me the password to. No breakfast but lots of places on the street to find something to eat

Review 67:The building was well maintained and was close to everything and the staff were friendly and helpful, I would stay here again

Review 68:No taxis near door

Review 69:Pretty girl at the reception. Typical lovely Moroccan lady . Staff very friendly good people but outside the hotel way too many hustlers. Junkies and weirdos scam artists.

Review 70:The noise from the square outside was too much at times. The floor in our room lacked carpeting of any sort and was therefore cold.

Review 71:The location is almost perfect. Staff is very welcoming.

Review 72:Right in medina but quiet. Small balcony overlooking the Petit Socco square and with view to the Mediterranean port with beautiful cruise ships. Staff VERY helpful and friendly. Good coffee right across from the hotel entrance.

Review 73:Not much. The only thing is that at some moments there was some smell coming out of the bathroom but it was not perceptible with the closed door or the windows open.

Review 74:The lady at the reception was very helpful and nice. The room was good and clean with a balcony over the Petit Socco (great for calm people watching).

Review 75:Very chentraly loketet in the old Medina.

Review 76:Wifi is not available in all rooms.

Review 77:Location and staff willingness

Review 78:Friendly and helpful staff, very nice bedroom - clean and spacious.

Review 79:Wifi not great, only worked in the main foyer.

Review 80:Great location and easy to find. Bed was comfortable.

Review 81:No Credit Card Payment. No Air Conditions.

Review 122:Fair value for money, just to sleep

Review 123:Street noise. Bed too big for room. Intermittent to no WiFi in room. Things were clean but the age and wear made them seem dirty.

Review 124:Easy to find.

Review 125:The flea bites

Review 126:Free wifi
