Reviews for Foresteria Baglio Della Luna

Review 1:The access road was a bit rough, but that made it feel the more remote and romantic (we were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary).

Review 2:The tower accommodation was perfect - full of charm and history. The service was solicitous, personal and really friendly and informative. The breakfast room was beautifully light, spacious and airy. The garden was a pleasure to walk in with a wide variety of flowers and shrubs. The food was the best we've ever had in any hotel anywhere - and we have travelled a lot. We wish we could have stayed there longer.

Review 3:Sad we could only stay 1 night -- and it rained. But even that didn't "dampen" our enjoyment of this place! PS Car is essential, as it's so quiet because it's out of town and somewhat isolated.

Review 4:Atmospheric, romantic, immaculate, quiet. Public spaces absolutely lovely - restaurant, bar, large courtyard, and simple but stunning garden with scattered seating for enjoying the surroundings and view of the Temples. Large room, very clean and comfortable, actually with "peak view" of the Temples in the distance. Had the BEST meal of our entire 3-week trip to Italy in their restaurant.

Review 5:Nothing.

Review 6:Excellent property in all regards. The gardens only enhance the views of the temples and the ocean. Our dinner excellent as was breakfast. The off-season rate made this the find of the vacation.

Review 7:Spacious room with a large bathroom and comfortable shower. Great breakfast selection, sweets and coffee in the morning. Perfect location to see the temples and avoid city noises.

Review 8:End-of-season feel, bar snacks not available, wi-fi not accessible in all rooms despite being marketed as such, some staff not helpful in finding solutions.

Review 9:The gardens are lovely and the hotel is clean and well maintained

Review 10:We liked everything, but the rooms are modest. The property overall is gorgeous.

Review 11:Beautiful property in a great location. And our dinner there was excellent.

Review 12:Meal was a bit nouveau cuisine. Not much quantity & pricey.

Review 13:Lovely views from restaurant. Lovely spacious gardens to sit in & wander around. Attractive courtyard to walk into on arrival.Staff pleasant.

Review 14:the room we were in was 1st floor and very dim. It almost looked like being in a cellar. In general, the rooms are comfortable, but old fashioned and could use some refurbishing. The immediate surroundings of the structure are less than amicable, with a non paved road with lots of dirt in the area. No WiFi outside of the rooms. Although good, the breakfast had the same staple elements and the biscuits in the glass jars, although attractive from outside, are not well kept: many resulted to be stiff and obviously old.

Review 15:The historical structure and the garden. very well kept. Breakfast was good. Restaurant is high quality. Stunning view of the temples and of the gulf from the garden.

Review 16:the staff is kind, helpful and efficient. We had an excellent diner organized specially for us. One member of the staff drove us to the airport at 4:30am!

Review 17:This is a jem. Beautiful old buildings, sympathetically renovated set in well tended gardens, with excellent attentive staff. Add to this a superb dinner on the terrace with views of floodlit Greek temples, and you have a more than first class experience.

Review 18:We had dinner at the hotel. It was expensive for what it was. The food was average and appeared to have been prepared in advance. All said, it is a hotel affiliated restaurant and the hotel is somewhat remote so maybe expectations need to be loered.

Review 19:The breakfast was very good. The grounds are pleasant offering nice views back to the Valley of the Temples. Good location to reach the site. The restaurant was convenient after a long day.

Review 20:The hotel is beautifully situated, with views over the valley of temples. The stuff is super nice and friendly, nice breakfast and the restaurant for dinners is excellent. We had a great time here!

Review 21:The property should be a 5 star, but just lacks a little something in service I think. hard to put one's finger on it, but they are just shy of being great.

Review 22:A beautiful property. Great breakfast. Close to Valley of the Temples.

Review 23:The rooms are a little dark, as there aren't a lot of windows.

Review 24:The hotel location is perfect, and the gardens and courtyard are spectacular. The staff really worked to be helpful, and took great pride in the property. This was very near the Valley of Temples, and fairly close to town - it does require a car.

Review 25:What i found a lot in Sicily, and again here, is that the place is great, but nothing goes into the immediate surrounding area. The road is gravel, potholed road. Decades of thrown rubbish are just on the sides and no attempt is made to keep it clean and nice looking. It just makes me sad to see how people can just destroy the environment so easily and the hotel will not do anything to clean it up, presumably because it is not theirs. But it is just right outside the hotel. Shame.

Review 26:The hotel and the setting in the gardens is the overall star in this place. Beautifully renovated and the gardens, courtyard and lighting are amazing. The rooms are clean and fresh. The air-con works fantastically and be put on low at night to reduce the noise to practically nothing. Rooms are big enough and very nicely decorated. Perfect location to visit the Vallee dei Templi. Only 5mins away by car. Staff are okay and very upmarket. The hotel restaurant was nice, but again upmarket food menu. So you get some wierd and wonderful dishes with local ingredients apparantly. Breakfast was lovely too. Very nice spread and the breakfast room is beautifully lit up with the morning sun. Great atmosphere. There is no pool, but there is a small outdoor sunken jacuzzi in the gardens. Very quiet area but right next to the main road.

Review 27:Breakfast selection was rather limited 4 * hotel that has such a large area & is based in a hot region should have a decent swimming pool I think..

Review 28:Hotel staff, the garden, ambience

Review 29:Spectacular, huge piece of beautiful land, garden, patio with a view from room window of the ruins[!]. The front desk man was super friendly and room very comfortable.Breakfast with freshly baked cookies and breads was stunning! Highly recommend!

Review 30:Everything.The Hotel operated extremely efficiently, the staff were in the background but always suggested benefits tactfully. This was an ideal hotel for us to stay at, we have traveled considerably & have high standards, we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Review 31:The rooms are a bit dark unless you go to a room in the tower.

Review 32:Gianni was so kind and Angelo sent us to a great restaurant above the temples. Even the young girl at breakfast was so attentive. And the fresh carrot lemon orange juice - Bravo!

Review 33:The room could stand to be updated and the bed was a bit too firm.

Review 34:The property was beautiful, and I wish I had more time to spend in the garden overlooking the Valley of the Temples. Breakfast and dinner were very good at the restaurant. The staff was very helpful.

Review 35:Difficult to find. Needed better signs from s115.my gps did not have roads needed. The telephone number provided by booking.com was incorrect which caused additional problems!Otherwise it was a great place to stop for the temples

Review 36:Everything

Review 37:Quite hard to find, some signage from the main road would be really helpful.

Review 38:Loved this hotel. The courtyard and gardens are beautiful and well kept. We were given a room with a balcony with a view over the temples which was amazing. Dinner was good and restaurant/breakfast room had great views. Wonderful breakfast with lots different types of home made biscuits. Easy access to temples.

Review 39:Wifi worked a bit with PC, impossible with iPhone. The decoration of our room was not everyone's taste. The hotel is to be reached by car only.

Review 40:The highlight was definitely the large breakfast buffet with fresh fruit juices, excellent homemade cookies to name a few, with a fantastic view to the sea, a beautiful garden, and a location in general that hast been decorated with attention to detail. The entire hotel has character.

Review 41:What is there not to like? Some would think it is too far out of town, but that is just what we were looking for.

Review 42:The property is everything you would expect in Sicily. The rooms were clean and the garden is beautiful. We only spent one night and wished we had booked two. The staff was friendly and very helpful.

Review 43:The rooms and bathrooms are dramatically less beautiful which is kind of surprising given the care and thought put into the terraced gardens and dining areas

Review 44:The gardens and common spaces including the restaurant and breakfast room are spectacular. It is a beautiful property. There is a wonderful distant view of the Valley of the Temples. We were not able to have dinner since it was off season. Breakfast was lovely.

Review 45:No television stations in English. Wifi pretty weak.

Review 46:We were given a suite in the tower - loved it! No problem with the spiral staircase. Very unusual place. It rained like mad but we were able to get to the ruins in time as the hotel is closeby. Staff very helpful. Breakfast abundant. Grounds are lovely, would like to see them in the sunshine. Very good value.

Review 47:Accommodation to us was tasteless, no sophistication whatsoever.

Review 48:View of the temples (it is outside the town of Agrigento which is a very good thing) and parking was easy and safe. Staff was great, helpful and warm. Breakfast was very nice, many cakes, fruits, boiled eggs, juices.

Review 49:Can't think of a thing!

Review 50:The views of the Valley of the Templii and the Med. The beautiful setting, gardens, decorations, dining rooms, staff, quiet, relaxed, bar, antiquity of the place, breakfasts were extraordinary, and dinners were fabulous! Also the proximity to the ruins and other areas of interest up and down the coast.

Review 51:Bedrooms small and a bit tired and they and bathrooms need upgrading. Difficult to find and online directions impossible to follow.

Review 52:Quiet location in attractive gardens and surroundings with distant views of the temples and sea. Helpful and friendly staff. Good restaurant.

Review 53:Rooms very hot, poor air conditioning. Rooms need updating, very tired looking, run down. Front desk staff not friendly or helpful! Breakfast poor, little variety.

Review 54:Beautiful exterior and garden.

Review 55:Bedroom and bathroom need updating; the shower leaked; dinner was disappointing - the menu read well, but the end result didn't live up to it.

Review 56:Lovely views over temples; beautiful gardens and outdoor seating; very pleasant staff

Review 57:Hard to believe, but they did not have a lift. We had to carry our bags up a narrow (original 11th century) staircase to the 2nd floor.

Review 58:Baglia della Luna is a beautiful hotel set amid gorgeous grounds. Their restaurant provided one of our best meals in Sicily! The staff was friendly and helpful; it was one of the best hotels we stayed in during our 12 days in Sicily.

Review 59:Staff weren't too friendly and restaurant service was a bit rushed

Review 60:Amazing views, haven of calm, close to the ruins, very characterful, great restaurant food

Review 61:A little difficulty finding the place.

Review 62:Atmosphere is great---good food and wine, helpful staff, nice garden, good views of old Greek temples and ease of getting to them.

Review 63:Unfortunately the Foresteria sits like an oasis in the desert. Not the owners fault of course, but be prepared to use your car to visit the temples or stroll around.

Review 64:Beautiful old farm building renovated with much care for details and a beutiful garden. Very friendly and warm welcome. Great dinner, with all dishes prepared using fresh ingredients. Fantastic breakfast with home made pastry and fresh juices.

Review 65:If you eat at the restaurant double check that what you order will be what you get. Although it states on the menu that the meals are subject to change due to seasonal variations the staff didn't always remember to advise of changes on ordering the food. I wasn't advised by the waiter that wild aspagarus wasn't in season and was served green beans (which I can't eat!)

Review 66:We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was ideal if you hire a car as there is free parking right outside. The hotel has a beautiful garden with temple views and in summer they extend restaurant service there. The staff were very helpful. The restaurant food was excellent and the breakfast one of the best spreads we had on our travels through Sicily. No pool but there is a beach five minutes away. Well located for visits to Turkish Steps and Valley of the Temples. We paid extra for a room with a balcony and views toward the temples and it was well worth it.

Review 67:Beautiful historical building, cleannes, wonderful breakfast, and most of all - the stunning view overlooking the valley of Temples.

Review 75:Beds were narrow and a bit uncomfortable. Wifi spotty

Review 76:Great location near temples. Beautiful grounds. Delicious dinner
