Reviews for Demetra Resort
Review 1:Difficult to find, even with GPS, definitely need a car. Study map and keep asking.
Review 2:Nice setting, but access to it's sister hotel with very nice pool and setting made up for the Demetra's somewhat remote feel.
Review 3:We stayed for 2 nights. The wifi did not work. The food was poor, so we went out for dinner the second night.
Review 4:The location near Valley of the Temples an near the beach.
Review 5:Poorly designed bathroom, with shower in bath & screen at wrong end. Too many short steps not always obvious to my partially sighted wife. Beds too hard.
Review 6:Friendly staff, some spoke English. Reasonable dinner menu good breakfast choice. Clean comfortable surroundings. Nice patio outside the room.
Review 7:We did not like: the five dogs roving the front of the property; the four cats roaming the outdoors and indoors; cigar smoking next door neighbors; the moldy smell of the room; the dirt around the shower stall; the eggs that sat out on a plate for two hours at breakfast; the overpriced, poor quality dinner; and the fact that we had to drive about 15 minutes to San Leone to go swimming at the Best Western.
Review 8:The outdoor seating area off the bedroom was pleasant.
Review 9:The location was quite difficult to get to and, although just a short drive from the nearby attractions, nowhere was walkable because of the nearby major highway. This also meant dining in both nights. Room a bit small and dark. No outdoor terrace for eating though I suspect that in August its just too hot outside and too many insects.
Review 10:The surrounding gardens were beautiful with lovely views.Plenty of easy parking. Good bathroom and large shady semi-private terrace. The female receptionist was also very n7ce and very helpful.
Review 11:Can only get there by car. No pool, tho there other hotel by sea has one.
Review 12:Proximity to above. The hotel was clean, staff friendly, road in off motorway a bit tricky to find. Better signage would make a difference.
Review 13:Great location for going to temples. The staff are super and the grounds lovely. We enjoyed using the pool at their sister Best Western Hotel near the beach.
Review 14:Not easy to find, more directions would have been helpful on confirmation booking. Thought ensuite could do with refurbishing especially the shower
Review 15:Very quite pleasant setting. Staff helpful especially receptionist with internet
Review 16:It's a bit hard to find. The turnoff from the main road is poorly marked and a bit confusing -- easy to miss. The property is down a short stretch of rough road & could definitely use a swimming pool, especially in the hottest times of year. (Guests are allowed to use a pool at a sister resort -- but who wants to travel after a hard day's ramble?)
Review 17:The room was very comfortable and quiet -- beautiful place to unwind/relax after a day rambling the Valley of the Temples. It was great to sit outside on our small patio, and enjoy the trees or the moon at night -- like an oasis in the middle of nowhere. Comfortable beds, great bathroom, nice breakfast. The staff was so gracious and helpful -- they went out of their way to reserve restaurants, give directions -- even to help us communicate & resolve issues with our next hotel in Palermo. Driving to the hotel from Enna we had stunning views looking up to the temples, lighted at night. (Hard to keep your eyes on the road!)
Review 18:Very comfortable rooms overlooking garden with private patio
Review 19:This place is really difficult to find. Even the locals did not know the address. It needs to be signed from the closest highway exit and onwards. We lost 2 hours trying to find it. (Driving over 5 hours from Calabria). I ordered a "superior" room, which looks like a suite on the website. It was a small room. TV did not work, neither did my computer. It was too late to get dressed and go to the desk to ask about it, PLUS there were no instructions on the phone or elsewhere on how to contact the desk by phone!
Review 20:The staff and the surroundings of the hotel/resort were beautiful. I ordered scrambled eggs for breakfast long before arrival. I had forgotten, so was surprised to see a waitress bring them to me. They did give a small discount, when I versed my dissatisfaction with the size of room and a lack of WiFi in the room and the fact the TV did not work.
Review 21:The location was conveniently located just off the main road but well away from any traffic noise. It was an easy drive to the eastern entrance to the temple complex.
Review 22:Surprised to be able to hear someone snoring next door. A pool would have been nice but it is possible to use the one at a nearby hotel
Review 23:the closeness to the temples, the room was a nice size and there was a lovely patio to seat out on the staff were helpful and friendly, the bed was comfy
Review 24:There was no pool on the premises, but there was a sign that I missed on checkin stating that there was use of a pool at a nearby facility. Perhaps the staff could point this out when folks check in.
Review 25:The resort was very conveniently located near the Valley of the Temples. It was beautiful. The breakfast was lovely, and the staff was very helpful.
Review 26:- you need a car when you go there
Review 27:- very nice resort with nice garden - not so far from the beach - Night view on the valley of temple (best in the night) - really good stuff of the resort - if you like dogs, you can find there new friends
Review 28:Nothing. An on site pool would be nice though.
Review 29:This was a very elegant hotel, conveniently located to the Valley of the Temples, Agrigento, and the coast. You do need a car, but we found it a modestly priced yet wonderful hotel. The pets wandering the grounds were great.
Review 30:1.Water out of tap was so heavily chlorinated it hurt your eyes and could not be used for drinking. No free bottled drinking water supplied. 2. When taking a shower in the junior suite bathroom tub the whole floor flooded.
Review 31:1. Very well located for visiting the Valley of the Temples.
Review 32:Minor detail...found TV hard to turn on and the light switches were confusing as same switch would control different lights depending how many times you pushed them.
Review 33:Beautiful charming country resort hotel....away from the hustle and bustle of traffic. Very good breakfast. Our room had the bathroom on an upper mezzanine level.....a slight inconvenience.
Review 34:Walls a bit thin, heard neighbors, only one person serving at breakfast, pretty chaotic, long waits for service
Review 35:Situation, proximity to ruins, dogs, countryside
Review 36:Ask for a one storey room. We had one with the bed/bath upstairs with a very low ceiling. Not as good as other rooms
Review 37:Great location for valley of temples Great breakfast Friendly staff Clean
Review 38:Mini-bar without ice Mini-bar with plastic cups No soap in bathroom Strange smell in room, as from drains. Seats outside under canvas were too dusty to sit on.
Review 39:Staff and service were excellent. Room very comfortable.
Review 40:There was some internal noise (staff maybe) just before bedtime and we coulld hear our neighbour's tv for a short time.
Review 41:Plenty of easy access parking. Nice, relaxing, countryside feel. Reception spoke our language (English) adequate. Though close to a major road we could not hear any road noise at all. My gps directed us without a problem and there were yellow signs at the turn-off to confirm our route.
Review 42:It is not that I did not like, but you need to get exact directions how to get there or you will never find the hotel.
Review 43:The hotel location gives a feeling that it is at a middle of no where, but it is actually only few minutes from the city and the Temple valley. The staff was very helpful and breakfast was nice.
Review 44:The furniture in the room was rather old and dark. Garden not well maintained (and the lack of a swimmingpool).
Review 45:Demetra Resort is a nice looking hotel, friendly and helpfull staff. Ask for a room with a terrace on the backside ( in front you have the noise of the mainroad, and there are a couple rooms with no or very small balcony).
Review 46:Extremely difficult to locate. Junior suites are 2 storey. Problems with their bathrooms which have very low ceiling that I could not stand up in .also badly leaking shower recess that flooded into the bedroom
Review 47:Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff.very good food. Nice terrace to sit on
Review 48:Walls are a bit thin so you can hear TV and other noise from adjacent rooms. Wasn't a big issue because no one stayed up that late but might be an issue if you are sensitive to noise while sleeping.
Review 49:Clean, comfortable. Staff were very helpful. Parking is easy. Didn't have dinner at the hotel but the restaurant seemed nice.
Review 50:Difficult to find and poorly signposted. Our room had no wi-fi signaland the mini bar fridge was not working despite being plugged in. Wevisited in late April and there were few guests which might explain whythe hotel had the feeling of working on a light staff load.
Review 51:Location suited us only as an overnight stop from which to visit thevalley of the temples.
Review 52:Friendly, helpful staff. Very nice and spacious public spaces...including a computer to use. Enjoyed the private patio off the room. Loved the ease of parking, and close location to the Agrigento temples. An oasis just off the freeway.
Review 53:The location as well as the hotel itself (both facilities and room) lacka four star feel and look. It was not what we expected it to be.
Review 54:Personnel was very friendly andvery willing to serve all our needs.
Review 55:It would have been nice if the door to the patio could open like a window for more comfortable sleeping at night.
Review 56:Location--quiet and in the countryside. Nice breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff.
Review 57:Good location for people travelling by car to visit the Valley of the Temples as you don't need to go into Agrigento and the temples are just down the road. Nice rural setting.
Review 58:A swimming pool would be a definite plus. And if only the insects hadn't bitten us so mercilessly - but that is hardly the hotel's fault.
Review 59:Luxurious feeling, wonderful suite with terrace. A haven of peace and tranquillity. Very motivated and friendly staff.
Review 60:The only complaint is that it was very difficult to find - an easier wayof describing it's location would have helped us.
Review 61:The Demetra resort was a small, quiet and comfortable hotel - perfectfor visiting the sites in the area and quite easy to link with the othersites we wanted to visit further afield.
Review 62:The small flaws here and there make the hotel in total not quite worth 4stars: the promised wi-fi wasn't available in the room (only in lobbyarea); the safe in our room wasn't working; the shower drain wasn'tquite satisfactory, so during shower you stand in 5cm of water.
Review 63:Good location - not far from Valle dei Templi and Scala dei Turchi; veryquiet; easy to find (signs to the hotel all the way from main road helpa lot); friendly staff; nice breakfast room with great view; very quiet(!) air conditioner.
Review 64:Nothing. Maybe it could have a swimming pool? it'd be great after a visit to the Temples since it can get very hot in Agrigento.
Review 65:Location was good. Room was very comfortable and the staff in the hotel very friendly.
Review 66:Difficult to find, address not on GPS.
Review 67:Pleasant motel style modern hotel, with nice rooms and public spaces, surrounded by lemon and palm trees. Excellenty located, an easy three minutes drive from the valley of the temples and the museum.
Review 68:I chose to travel without a car and found myself stuck at the resort, unable to get out because there was no bus line that would take me toeither the valley of the temples or into the town of Agrigento. Theonly way I could leave was to take a taxi. I was told by the peopleat the front desk that the cost was 15 euros each way. However, acertain amount of price gouging happened. On one occasion, I wastaken from the resort to the Juno Gate, a short (10 minute) ride andwas charged 24 euros. So I wouldn't recommend the resort to someone traveling WITHOUT a car. On the other hand, if you have a car, this was the perfect place because there was ample free parking.
Review 69:This was a lovely, peaceful hotel set in gorgeous countryside with aview of the nearby valley of the temples. The staff was exceptionallyfriendly and helpful. The building was new and beautifully designed.
Review 70:Very helpful and kind personnel, big backyard with orange and olive trees, great location to visit temples.
Review 71:A car is a must
Review 72:good restaurant, very nice staff
Review 73:Hard to find.
Review 74:Good location for valey of the temples.
Review 75:San Leone is not really very pretty
Review 76:excellent staff - very well run & clean. location might be better, but close to everything
Review 77:staff friendly location
Review 78:We arrived at the dark and was hard to find the hotel. swiming pool is located at the other hotel.
Review 79:Clean and comfortable hotel.
Review 80:Very hard to find
Review 81:Friendly service
Review 82:Good location - close to the Temple Valley. Not a large room but all required comfort. Good breakfast and free Wifi.
Review 83:The walls are too thin
Review 84:Away from built up areas but easy access to local sights.
Review 85:Hard to find (address listed in booking.com is not in Garmin maps).
Review 86:Very good location for visiting Valley of Temples. Good value, large room.
Review 87:Convenient location
Review 88:The road to the hotel
Review 89:Everythins is OK.
Review 90:pleasnt place. close to the temples and close to the night restaurants at san leone
Review 91:Convenient to beach & Valley of the Temples, good parking, nice design.
Review 92:Friendly staff; helpful; clean rooms
Review 93:The road to hotel is not the best.
Review 94:Good sized rooms with good service
Review 95:A bit complicated to navigate by GPS.
Review 96:Very nice place, very kind staff, good breakfast
Review 97:Excellent, staff was very friendly and helpful. Because of low-season restaurant was open only in dinner-time. Good place to relax.
