Reviews for Baia Di Ulisse Wellness & Spa
Review 1:Charges at Wellness Centre are stiff: 60 euros for 2 treatments and 15 minute sauna. Haggle and you can get 15 minute sauna for 10 euros. They need a rethink on this!
Review 2:Well designed hotel complex in great grounds at a good location on the beach. About 2 miles from main center but probably a lot nearer a small port. Outdoor pool, gardens, access to beach would be great from, say, February onwards - a bit cool in ear,y January. Room good but have usual 'heavy' Med style. Everything worked. All staff courteous, friendly and efficient. Most speak English. Wifi good.
Review 3:The pool was closed, the bar was closed, the room was unsecured and staff were rude and condescending. Took an hour to check-in and then had to request another room.
Review 4:Like a transit hotel with coach party's arriving late leaving early, dining area was canteen like very noisy when coaching people were in..breakfast was depleted
Review 5:Location
Review 6:The Spa was closed which was a shame. Beds by the sea need cushions as after a while gets uncomfortable. Would have been nice to have drinks served on beach and some light music
Review 7:Staff are very friendly and place is very clean. We will return again and recommend the place to family and friends.
Review 8:The staff were militant in regard to stopping guests from bringing into the hotel water, drinks and snacks bought elsewhere. The prices for drinks was ridiculous 27 euro for three diet cokes.
Review 9:The location was great with the beach at your fingertips.
Review 10:The management and booking.com cancelled our reservation for the third night. Initially we reserved for two nights, and later we wanted to extend our stay by one night in order to be able to relax the last day of our vacation. after contacting the hotel and booking.com we were told that our reservation could not be modified, thus we made a second reservation to secure the third night. The day of arrival we were contacted by the hotel saying that they had tried to get in touch with us several times (which is a lie) our reservation was cancelled. In panic we booked another hotel we could stay at the third night in San Leone, where our friends and wedding was held. We talked to the staff, who contradicted themselves saying we could stay one more night, which led us to canceling our other hotel. Finally they came to us and said we could not stay a third night after all. We were therefore forced to staying at a hotel 10km away, we had to deal with the miscommunication and misleading information from the hotel staff during our best friend's wedding, and due to the location of the second hotel we were unable to attend the organized "the day after"-dinner with the newly married couple because we did not have a car and there were no taxied available. We travelled across Europe to visit Sicily and take part in such an important day, and the hotel staff and booking.com ruined our whole experience. The newly married couple are Sicilian and recommended us to stay at your hotel. After this experience neither them nor we will ever recommend this hotel to anyone.
Review 11:We liked the hotel, but terrible service from the management ruined the the whole experience.
Review 12:Hotel room was very dark and dingy. Not enough staff to cater for needs of guests. Hotel power kept cutting out at critical times, and the Wifi was rubbish. The owners priorities are all back to front. Should put the guests needs first!!
Review 13:The property grounds and pool area were very nice.
Review 14:very strange -it happened to not have fresh also, i very stressful issue- lack of internet- very often happened to not be ok the connection the conexion whit buses to different places (e.g. area of Siracusa, ragusa, Villa Romana del casale- impossible to take direct conexion); we had to rent a car especially for this
Review 15:the staf very friendly, the facilities of the locations were great.
Review 16:Car parking was not guaranteed! Sometimes not enough spaces for hotel guests and had to park outside!!!
Review 17:The location is excellent providing you have a car! Wonderful garden.
Review 18:The air conditioning unit started leaking water about 5 minutes after being switched on but the staff were able to fix it when we told them. Wifi access was limited to the communal areas but we weren't able to connect. There was parking on the property but not enough for all the guests and evening visitors so the staff shuffled cars around quite a lot.
Review 19:Access to the beach was great. The location (as long as you have a car) was good, San Leone has wonderful gelato (you must visit gelateria le cuspidi) and seafood restaurants. The hotel was very well placed for visiting valle de templi, again having a car helped. The pool and the area around it was nice. The room was clean and spacious, having a balcony was also nice. Breakfast was ok but nothing special.
Review 20:Breakfast and food quality in general are quite disappointing for Sicily, pity it's not possible to have breakfast outside. Wifi connection is almost inexisting. The hotel regulations are a bit too strict.
Review 21:Really nice hotel, would love to have my wedding party there, should Italy allow one day gay marriage ;)
Review 22:The people were rude. They do not allow you to bring any food and drink into the hotel (wine, soft drinks, cheese, snacks, fruit, etc) - They will confiscate. I feel like there is a lot out of sync with this place. We are a mature responsible family and I felt as though they treat guests like teenagers staying over at a friend's house. I do not recommend this place to anyone. There are patio areas outside the rooms but no furniture. They lock the gate to the beach at 7:30 and do not open them again until 8:30. Big control management. Sorry, won't stay here again. They need to learn about guest satisfaction and it is really too bad because the place is really beautiful.
Review 23:I liked the grounds
Review 24:Wellness facilities closed - eg gym not open for convenience. We wanted to play cards with friends and the staff didn't allow us to utilise the furniture in the bar area. They shuffled us downstairs into a large reception area that was prepared for a party the next day.
Review 25:Friendly staff, clean rooms, nice terrace with views. Large beautifully maintained grounds, easy access to the beach.
Review 26:No bad experiences but a larger hotel such as this is always in danger being anonymous unless senior management trains all staff in being intentionally friendly and interested in their guests
Review 27:The above
Review 28:cleaning staff chatting outside our bedroom door at 7.30am every morning in loud italian. wifi didnt work in bedroom charge for pool towel you need a car
Review 29:rooms, food pool lovely beach
Review 30:The staff aren't very friendly in fact they were aloof and didn't smile at all. It rained for a couple of days so I thought I would use the spa facility, however this is only open on a weekend so I was disappointed as I am sure it is reflected in the price of the room. The rooms are ok but the walls paper thin, you could hear the toilet flushing in the room next door. Overall disappointed.
Review 31:The parking, breakfast was great. The walk to beach is lovely and the landscaping beautiful. A great spot to watch the sunset.
Review 32:We didn't like the director because was very unpolite.
Review 33:Location is Great. You are very very close to sicilian locations and people. The temple's valley is very close. There are many excellent food places and the sea is amazing
Review 34:Maybe more staff is needed for breakfast peak time. We have asked 3 times for a coffee (3 different people that were clearly overloaded and 2 forgot about us) and in the end received a bad coffee done from a poor machine. In Italy this should not be difficult to change and in my mind is expected. Perhaps better management of the buffet that disappeared too quickly when something was brought out of the kitchen. Guests should have enough choice at 9 am, even if is peak time and the room is crowded. Wi-Fi did not work in both my room and at the breakfast area and I have tried with 1 Tablet and 2 smartphones (Iphone and Samsung). Not a big issue for us, but if needs fix.
Review 35:The personnel is very friendly, helpful and we had good impression. The position of the Hotel and the location itself are great. The room was clean and we had plenty of space. Great park/garden with lots of trees and area for kids, bar and restaurant and nice pool, even though we did not use it as we went to the private beach just behind the hotel.
Review 36:Reception staff should be more guest-friendly and helpful. It is strange to prohibit guests to buy some fruits and soft drinks to have them in the room. Wi-Fi is simply a disaster. It would be great to have breakfast menu changing from day to day, I doubt that having the same choice for a couple of weeks will attract gusts to stay more than 2-3 nights. The beds are so narrow that one can easily find oneself on the floor several times during the night. I would not recommend you to charge 3 Euro per towel per day, such costs shall be included in the room fee. Beautiful chessboard in the lobby where you cannot play chess... well I would simply buy a conventional chessboard to let guests play. A lot of minor things to be resolved to make the hotel really comfortable travel experience, good potential, so I wish you will improve it.
Review 37:A quiet place to relax with nice beach and swimming pool. Free parking is convenient, moreover I would highly recommend to have a car, otherwise you will have to spend the entire vacations in the hotel. Regular live music in the evening is great. Room cleaning service is efficient delicate and very guest-friendly. Lifeguard guys both on the beach and near the swimming pool are very friendly and one feels secure with their presence. Restaurant staff is nice and helpful.
Review 38:There are no cushions provided for sun beds. Wardrobe in the room isquite small. Extremely small shower enclosure.
Review 39:Artistfully designed interior: high quality vantage paintings, sculptures and furniture are at the every corner of the building and itsproperty. Design of the rooms is little bit outdated, but spotless andextremely well maintained. It is hard to tell, but one could suspectthat is done as part of the overall style. Importantly – every piece ofequipment was working 100%. Hotel has a large forestry park with themultiple resting areas, and private area with umbrellas and sunbeds onthe beautiful sandy beach. Wifi is in each room. Property has a largesecured parking lot. Hotel employs very polite and attentive staff.
Review 40:Decor
Review 41:Location near the see
Review 42:The WiFi not works, you have to pay for the beach towels (3€/day)and the spa.
Review 43:Very nice hotel with own sand beach.
Review 44:Bus parties seemed to have problems, priority
Review 45:Quality of restaurant
Review 46:the location is a bit strange and the beach was deserted... the property caters to large groups, seems like it is great for tours
Review 47:rooms were clean
Review 48:Lack of beach service. No beach towels!
Review 49:The location and building is beautiful.
Review 50:Staff was very aggressive, on our wish to have sea view they insisted onbooking saying we have booked standard room, it did not say anythingabout view in the booking note. ALso during the stay staff was onlyaverage, not very friendly.
Review 51:Pool, good ambiente, nice garden, well equipped rooms.
Review 52:Room dark without any character. Very noisy as walls are very thin. Card/menu in restaurant very basic and not much choice for such hotel category Spa was closed
Review 53:The pool
Review 54:1. The food was horrendous. Wouldn't recommend anyone to eat or drink anything here. 2. The place looks nice on pics but basics like beds, sounds isolation and as mentioned, food, has been completely neglected. It's all facade, no soul. Stay away.
Review 55:It's located right on the beach.
Review 56:Staff attitude - bed ( I got bed bug bites) - rooms not sound proof - surcharge to use pool and private beach - no outside food or drink policy - restaurant food
Review 57:Beach but then it's a beach
Review 58:Breakfast is very poor. Not professional reception (I needed over 40 minutes for just to check out). Although facilities are good, not many choice for lunch even to take at hotel is only option.
Review 59:Nice beach and beach side facilities.
Review 60:Food poor and overpriced, cost for beach access and 'extras' quite expensive. Rooms a little plain, though serviceable.
Review 61:Great pool and setting, lovely facilities and beach, friendly staff (on the whole). Spa facilities very good. Very well maintained, landscaped gardens and terraces down to beach, beautiful setting. Overall value good except for 'extras'
Review 62:5 euros per person per day to use swimming pool which is closed from 1pm to 3pm is totally unacceptable. Small room and very small beds. Shower needs some fixing. Breakfast too basic for 4 star hotel.
Review 63:Nice building and garden
Review 64:- The outdoor swimming pool was shut because there was no lifeguard (we were told) and we weren't allowed to sit around the pool on the deckchairs- the hotel beach as advertised was also unavailable but the public beach is only a couple of minutes walk - we were not able to pay for drinks at the bar as they had absolutley no change
Review 65:We had a car so staying slightly outside the centre of San Leone suitedus. The rooms were nice, clean and comfortable with balcony and seaviews. Breakfast was excellent. We paid a much reduced rate, so felt itwas value for money for the price we paid.
Review 66:Spa treatments only on the weekends - in September. 5€ forumbrella/sunchairs per person. Both things were not a big problem.
Review 67:We were travelling in September which is a very good time to stay inthis hotel. Just few people in the hotel therefore the room was veryquiet, wonderful beach, very friendly personnel and good food. I alsoliked the garden.
Review 68:The restaurant had little choice for non-half.board guests and the meals were slightly overprized. My advice: try to book your stay with half-board or go outside to one of the nearby beachside restaurants. Breakfast was good nonetheless!
Review 69:the hotel grounds with pool area and private beach were great. The privat beach is reached through a small pine tree forrest, so it feels a little bit secluded from the rest of the hotel.
Review 70:Breackfast - every day the same. After 3 days we had enough, evenknowing that in Italy the choice is usually very limited. The swimmingpool is closed between 1 P.M. and 3 P.M. (why???). The swimming poolwelcomes you with a few "don'ts": don't move chairs and umbrellas, don'tswim without caps (which is not a big problem as you can buy caps atplace and it was not the issue after all). Everyday, a nice guy workingat the swiming pool had to clean the place with a noisy machine. He didnot do it when the swimming pool was closed. So, a few annoying things, but generally we were ok (although we did not expect too much when wearrived). To sum up, don't expect a luxury place but generally it is adecent place.
Review 71:San Leone itself is not a nice place but the hotel is located very wellwith nice outdoor and quite a nice beach. Staff was very helpfull andthey did not create any problems. We were generally satisfied with ourstay despite of a few minuses.
Review 72:The floor of our room was untidy for the whole stay. It is ridiculousthat you have to pay an extra charge daily to use the area of the pool.
Review 73:Baia Di Ulisse is a very nice hotel, perfectly decorated with beautifulsurroundings, & very well kept. Once you arrive at San Leone easy tofind the location. Rooms spacious, though the bathroom, especially theshower was quite small. Breakfast area very nice, overlooking the poolwhich is surrounded by lovely flowers & plants, food is good. Veryclose to the sea (ideal for those who love swimming), & only 20min awayfrom Agrigento centre by car. Quite area & only 5mins away from thepromenade by walk.
Review 74:Spa, sauna, gym etc. are not included and are approx. 30 Euro perperson. You will also have to pay 5 euro per person for each day thatyou use the beach and umbrellas and/or the swimming pool. That is reallynot included. At check-in you will receive a bracelet that gives theright to use the beach and the swimming pool; at check-out you will haveto give it back and pay for the number of days that you had thisbracelet. Restaurant in the hotel is ok, but nothing special - recommendoceanomare bar/restaurant which is 15 minutes walk. No chairs and tableon the balconies.
Review 75:Best hotel in this area. The only hotel with its own private beach, great pine wood. Strongly recommend a bar-restaurant Oceonomare, whichis 15 minutes walk from the hotel to the left if the sea is behind youor 10 minutes walk along the beach to the right if the sea is upfront ofyou. Best restaurant in this area, strongly recommend.
Review 76:Breakfast is not so great. They keep all doors of public areas open, sothere's draught everywhere, and with a small child that was not verypleasant. Overall, a nice hotel, but for what we've paid we did not feellike we were getting anything special.
Review 77:Nice location if you want to enjoy the beach, but you might get stuck inthe traffic when driving elsewhere. The property is really well kept andcozy, a real resort hotel. They have a closed private parking, which israther busy most of the times, because the hotel is a well-known venuefor weddings and other parties. You pay extra to use their private beachand towels.
Review 78:Dinner (we had to wait and we didn't like the food), rooms were very simple and the bathroom was VERY small and old-fashioned, the pool was paid
Review 79:The garden
Review 80:None of the spa package services were available during our short stay;except pool and beach.
Review 81:The accommodations and staff were very good, a beautiful setting and thebeach. All the staff were very helpful and informative; even to theextent of seeing them in town and being glad to see us and to chat(especially Fabio). We didn't get to use any of the spa services duringour midweek stay. I'd recommend it.
Review 82:Breakfast: not at the level of the hotel (no fresh fruit juices, anysort of pork,...) Swimming pool: Clients have to pay a cap !
Review 83:Nice location, close to the sea. Our room was quiet (not too muchclients middle of June) Private beach and swimming pool. Very very nicegarden with flowers and trees.
Review 84:The gym was only open on weekends and the Internet service was intermittent. There was only one functioning restaurant which was limited in its opening hours. The swimming pool closed between 1and 3pm. The hotel was running on a skeleton staff with the bar and coffee are being unmanned most of the time. The beach did not have shelter/umbrellas until the last 2 days of the holiday. The hotel only seemed to fully open on 15June.
Review 85:The hotel was clean and had nice grounds with friendly staff and a nice beach.
Review 86:The poor menu. The breakfast is the same every day (I.e. same ham, same cheese, etc...)
Review 87:The pine forest, the private beach. Parking is excellent. Rooms are ok.
Review 88:Nothing in this hotel works. The wifi does not work. The pool chairs are broken. The pool wasn't even open. The beach was not open so you could not go on an evening stroll on the beach even in May. The toilet makes a horrible noise when you flush it. The juice for breakfast is water mixed with a little juice. Not worth your time or money. Stay somewhere else.
Review 89:The grounds were beautiful.
Review 90:Hotel did not open private beach yet (beginning of May), quite expensivedinner if not booked as half board
Review 91:Room is really nice, private beach, free parking
Review 92:it's not admissible have to pay to use the swiming pool - is ridicule Places for cars are very short
Review 93:the hotel is beautifful inside an outside
Review 94:Brekfast
Review 95:Room was too small for a triple room. Too many dogs always barking outside.
Review 96:Nice pool
