Reviews for Residence Hotel Antica Perla
Review 1:Although the place itself was fairly clean, much of the surrounding area was poluted with garbage; pool was not very inviting: black spots on the floor; shower and toilet were small and inconvenient.
Review 2:The hotel is in a good quiet location just a few meters from a beach. It is also very close to Valley of the Temples and San Leone village which is very lively and full of good restaurants. This was our second time that I stayed in this hotel and I would not hesitate to stay there again.
Review 3:The accommodation was comfortable and large with great views of the ocean. The staff we helpful and friendly. Having a swimming pool on site was great.
Review 4:It was just as well we'd hired a car, as the hotel is a long way from restaurants, shops, sights. Breakfast was a bit 'continental bland', but OK.
Review 5:Worked well for a quiet break in the sun. Good pool - essential, as the nearby beach didn't look great. The staff were quite friendly, but not at all intrusive.
Review 6:The receptionist was very unhelpful, the only member of staff who was friendly was the guy behind the bar. There is a large rubbish tip right outside the front gates (on the main road) and various stray dogs roaming the streets
Review 7:The apartment itself is quite nice, shame the wifi doesn't actually get to it - go and sit in the bar!
Review 8:Located far away from San Leone center. Area around is not well developed. Only one small resto with quite high prices
Review 9:Spacious and comfortable appartments. Good reactivity of the staff to issues. Good sandy Beach is only 2 min. Walk
Review 10:Un poco dificil de encontrar. Desayuno muy pobre.
Review 11:Habitaciones comodas y bien equipadas. Agrdable piscina. Buen wi-fi Con auto está a 5 min. del centro de San Leone, simpatico pueblo con una gran oferta gastronómica.
Review 12:Wifi didn't work; no to very little english speaking personnel; uncomfortbale pebbles around the pool
Review 13:Nice pool next to the hotel; quiet neigborhood
Review 14:We had to drive to find a restaurant for dinner but there were several close by, only a couple of kilometres away!
Review 15:Amazing pool, quiet location, helpful staff, good value, easy to get to and wonderful breakfast included in the price!
Review 16:A little too far out for even walking along the ocean as it is not kept picked up of litter.
Review 17:The hotel is situated on the outskirts of San Leone Bay which puts it away and the location is good if you want nothing but quiet. Staff at hotel were excellent !
Review 18:There are no dining options in walking distance of this hotel so you must use a car for everything. The hotel only serves breakfast. The bar across the street is open Thursday thru Sunday though it is more of a local place with patrons playing cards. The selection of drinks is very limited and the staff do not speak any English. My Italian is poor but we got it going. There is no food served. The area is primarily residential. The beach across the street does not have much sand and is full of seaweed though it does look pretty from the room as you cannot see the actual beach just the water. Though the way to the hotel is well marked once you get to San Leone which is where this hotel is actually located, driving in Agrigento is horrific and I will not do it again. In addition, the streets leading to this hotel have dumpsters with trash strewn all around making the area seem seedy. It is disappointing that the residents do not take more pride in their community. If I was to stay in the area again, I would choose a hotel on the main beach. The sand is wide with no trash and there is a lot of action going on with bars and dining establishments.
Review 19:The hotel itself is lovely and the pool area is just beautiful. We had a lovely suite with the largest deck facing the water that I have ever seen in a hotel. Oddly, there was no deck furniture ( I guess you are supposed to lay on the concrete or stand ) and if you open the door to the deck the a/c cuts out. The kitchen was nice and the bathroom tight but sufficient. Overall, I really liked the hotel however the location is poor so I would not stay here again.
Review 20:location is a bit strange, in a residential area on the beach front, but plenty of rubbish bins overflowing and abandoned houses around. If you have a car, you can just drive around to restaurants, supermarket etc, so it's not a problem.
Review 21:The beach in front of hotel is not worth mentioning, but if you walk a bit further to the right, you have a decent Italian local beach. The apartment we rented was big and comfortable. Wifi worked throughout the hotel. The pool is nice, although the stones around the pool are a bit annoying, you just have to wear shoes. Good breakfast croissants! Overall a very good value for money. Hotel is not in San Leone, but in Fiumena.
Review 22:the breakfast i rather cheap for this type of residence it s the only place in italy where we could not drink the coffee The staff was not friendly, but cold
Review 23:Swimming pool, the view, the comfort
Review 24:Poor area around.Far from the interests. Poor breakfast.
Review 25:Difficult to find
Review 26:Quiet out of season and near the sea
Review 27:Good pool, clean, comfortable
Review 28:quite far away from restaurants etc. but this was known when we booked
Review 29:huge appartement for a very reasonable price (low saison)
Review 30:Breakfast OK but uninspired.
Review 31:Location. Balcony view. Size of room.
Review 32:You need a car it is a long walk to the bus stop.
Review 33:Pool Breakfast Room size
Review 34:Great staff and hotel, close to the sea and valley of temples
Review 35:Dirty neighbourhood
Review 36:Swimming pool. Beach near
Review 37:très belle vue panoramique!
Review 38:Location of hotel was not in a very nice neighborhood..abandoned buildings and a very dirty beach that could not be walked on.
Review 39:Close to ruins and a very nice restaurant. Breakfast was nice.
Review 40:The surrounding of the hotel is a not very nice looking. Except for the beach nothing for visitors within walking distance.
Review 41:A very good looking hotel. Spacious rooms. Very close to the beach. Very nice balcony. The valley of temples is within a few kilometers.
Review 42:Location is really in the middle of nowhere. Quite dirty on the beach. Hotel looks fresh and clean and its contrasting with surroundings.
Review 43:Staff friendly, location is close to the sea, no limitations for usage of the pool.
Review 44:Stinking bathroom, no real beach nearby, constant noise from italodisco on the swimming pool, very average breakfast (no vegetables). The receptionist recommended a 'good' restaurant nearby, where they serve mayonaise to Italian food. Good to be ther only one night.
Review 45:Big swimming pool, big tvset near the bar where you could watch Mondial
Review 46:Small shower.
Review 47:A family run hotel with superior guest service. Wonderful location on the Mediterranean with pool and ample free parking. Close to Greek ruins. Very spacious hotel.
Review 48:Very thin bedroom hotel walls led to serious noise issues / toilet noises Location not good Picture on site not a fair representation of hotel or immediate area which is run down
Review 49:Staff were reasonable friendly
Review 50:Location... It is in the middle of nowhere: abandon houses, rubbish around, no restaurant closer than 2-3km.
Review 51:Hotel is nice, staff is friendly, Wifi is fast, breakfast menu is simple, but good, room with kitchen is good!
Review 52:Nothing
Review 53:Super location on the sea front. Quiet but close to Agrigento. Very clean spacious hotel and room. Superb large swimming pool Very helpful staff. Excellent value for money.
Review 54:The beach in front is basically a dump yard. Nearest public beach is a drive of 3-4 minutes, about 2-3 km away at Via de Dune. Hotel should make an effort to acquire the front area of the beach and make it usable. Also, shower space could have been bigger.
Review 55:We had a spacious two bedroom unit with a large terrace overlooking the sea. The kitchen was well equipped. Parking is free. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. On a particularly tiring day, we did not want to go out for dining. The hotel ordered pizza for delivery for us.
Review 56:Plumbing needs decent service. Breakfast was rather minimalistic.
Review 57:Location was very good - signage pointing towards St. Leonie all around Agrigento, helps to find the way back home.
Review 58:The hotel advertised a heated outdoor pool which was empty during our stay. Also, this hotel is not actually on the beach..more a river gravel estuary covered in rubbish and old lorry tyres
Review 59:Huge three room apartment with proper cooking facilities and a full sized fridge-freezer. Sea views.
Review 60:as usual beds are hard but nice pull out sofa sleepers
Review 61:nice that it had a kitchen and lots of room for people to sleep, on the corner of the beach and really not much nearby to eat at...town is around 10 min drive away. Probally perfect location for summer months. Super quiet in the winter months and off season time!
Review 62:Shower was small had to fight the shower curtain. Beach area right in front of hotel was not clean but could walk to a better area.
Review 63:It is a short drive to the Valley of Temples and restaurants on the sea. Had WiFi even though intermittent due to weather. Breakfast was nice.
Review 64:Too remote, need car to visit restaurants. Pool closed in middle of day.
Review 65:Easy access to Valley of Temples Agrigento. Nice pool. Good size shower room and kitchen area.
Review 66:Everything!!! We were so happy with the staff, room, and location ofAntica Perla, that we had to extend our vacation there one extra night. We have three small children and the location of this hotel was perfect. We loved that it was a little out of town because there was no"city noise" or traffic to bother our relaxation!! It wasmaybe 10 minutes to drive to the Valley of the Temples and a 2 minutedrive to shops and great food. Breakfast was great, too! We hope to comeback to visit Antonio and his family again soon! Thank you foreverything!!! The whole experience was wonderful!
Review 67:Nothing to do around the hotel No restaurant inside hotel Dirty surrounding
Review 68:Sandy beach, comfortable for young children Clean pool Mini-kitchen at room
Review 69:The shower had a dribble of water coming out and wasn't up to a 3/4 star standard. There was no restaurant for lunch or evening meal. You had to drive to local shops and restaurants.
Review 70:I liked the layout of the 2 bed roomed apartment with lounge and kitchen area. There was a nice balcony which you can sit out on and it had beautiful view of the sea from the apartment. The swimming pool was a good size clean and family friendly.
Review 71:Very clean hotel. Very friendly stuff. Appartments are equipted by kitchen with accessories, air-conditioning in all rooms. Sea beach is 3 minites walk. The sea is usually very calm because of breakwater. Free parking. Restoran with fresh fish close to hotel. Swiming pool
Review 72:Location is otherwise pretty bad, you're in the middle of nowhere. Breakfast had terrible coffee, minimal English by staff, laundry at hotel prices - which is surprising for what is basically an apartment rental.
Review 73:Great beach.
Review 74:Unstable water-supply to the toilets. The isolated location in an area with a lot of garbage on the road area and the nearby beach. The distance to a restaurant (say 2km).
Review 75:The Swimming Pool
Review 76:nearby beach all pebbles and grubby.
Review 77:excellent room. Very helpful manager. good for visiting the valley of the temples. nice pool , decent restaurant about 1km away.
Review 78:It is a bit off the beaten track and can be difficult to find initially. Once found its location is close (3-5 km) to all of the main attractions and the town. There is free wifi but the service is spotty. There is a good computer station available however in the lobby.
Review 79:This hotel is new, modern and very clean. The staff were very helpful and our 2 bedroom apt was spacious and quiet. The pool is exceptionally large and well kept.
Review 80:it is 4 starts hotel, with all facilities, but really not cozy.. far from San Leone, without transport u'll not find any activities around.
Review 81:Good breakfast. Good just to be in beach near hotel.
Review 82:The neighborhood where the hotel is located is very run down, with packs of wild dogs and mountains of trash.
Review 83:The staff was very helpful and everything was clean. We could see and hear the waves in the sea, and all the bay area.
Review 84:One Front Desk employee was a little too laid back and had to ask for WiFi to be checked two or three times before it worked.
Review 85:It is located right at the beach (although not that clean on beach), view is fabulous, the pool was immaculately clean and well kept. We had it to our selves due to time of season. Very close to grocery shopping, and great location to visit Valley of the Temples. Only about 12 mins away and easy to find. Quiet at night, again could be because of late in season. Probably busy in summer. Breakfast was very good with nice selection.
Review 86:The area around the hotel is not great. The hotel is a bit isolated I would only recommend as a place to stay to visit the temples not for a whole week.
Review 87:Everything great hotel great price great pool spotless everywhere good breakfast. Good location for visiting Valley of Temples.
Review 88:Wouldn't recommend the hotel if you don't have a car. Internet onlyworks in the reception area.
Review 89:Excellent value for money, convenient for those wanting to visit thetemples. Good breakfast. We were 4 in a Two bedroom apartment, spaciousand comfortable.
Review 90:Rooms are very basic and were not very welcoming. Quite soulless in fact. This hotel has a 4 star rating but I do not believe it is up to this standard based on the low quality of the rooms. Shower was terrible and hardly had any water output.
Review 91:The hotel is very close to the valley of the temples and very accessible for the local beaches. Rooms do have sea views but if you are looking over the surrounding properties it can be quite depressing. Hotel is very clean and staff are helpful.
Review 92:A few small things. The bathroom didn't have hooks to hang robes, the shower had a curtain and was hard not to get water on the bathroom floor when you used it. It would be nice if they had a restaurant that served dinner.
Review 93:The staff was friendly and professional. Their response to all requests was quick and more than courteous. Gracious as if nothing was ever a problem. The pool area was well kept with lots of lounge chairs and tables and the beach just a short walk from the hotel The kitchenette had all the basic essentials and our room was a decent size and well kept. We liked the modern decor of the hotel itself and since we had a car the location away from the hoards of people in San Leone suited us fine. We could be in or away from the maddening crowd. Breakfast was great. We really liked it alot.
Review 94:Location, other than right next to a beach, is in the middle of no whereand cannot walk to any restaurants, no facilities at the hotel either, car is a must. Great restaurant called Mediteranneo 3 minutes by car.Area is abit more run down than the rest of San Leone
Review 95:The pool is 4 star standard. Nice location right next to a good beach
Review 96:sound insulation should be improved, especially on the sounds of water sanitation
Review 97:very nice location, fully equiped appartment, very nice staff, beautifull view facing the sea
Review 98:key system is not modern as there is no way to keep the room "fresh" in August under 42 C. Breakfast was ok but in a room without view - looks sad as the hotel has plenty of space to crate a nice area for breakfast. material at swimming pool could be improved also (cheap). WiFi was expensive (I think a 4* hotel could offer that service)
Review 99:staff is very nice and helpful, nice parking & big rooms
Review 100:Our room was dirty, especially the couches which smelled as thoughsomeone had vomited on them. There were ants in the room. The room wassparsely furnished with inexpensive furnishings and did not reflect thelevel of luxury shown in the online photos. The surrounding neighborhoodwas littered with trash. We stayed on a Monday night, and the bar acrossthe street played loud music until 2 or 3 in the morning. It wasimpossible to sleep, even with ear plugs. We were scheduled to stay 4nights but checked out immediately the next day. We offered to pay for 2nights, even though we only stayed one night, but the hotel director wasrude and refused to refund any of the additional nights. This is not theplace to stay if you're looking for a quiet, clean atmosphere for yourfamily. It is more suitable for college students on spring break.
Review 101:It was in close proximity to the beach. The main lobby area appearedclean and was nicely decorated. There was plenty of parking.
Review 102:This is a very noisy hotel - there is a central airconditoning system which creates a lot of noise on the west-side of the hotel. The area is full of holiday flats and houses where the noise of many people partying goes on till very late. There is no restaurant at the hotel and only one beach-cafe in the vicinity. I do not think this hotel deserves the four stars it boasts.
Review 103:The hotel has a nice pool, and our room had an ocean view.
Review 104:It was fine, personal was warm, the hotel and room were clean andsuitable for as (as we expected). The breakfasts were accordant with thehotel category and country. It is really corresponding with Internetdescription. My wife and I think it was quite good.
Review 105:Emergency lighting went on-off in room several times at night making sleep difficult.
Review 106:Friendly and comfortable environment. A great place to return to after long days visiting the historic sites.
Review 107:The worst hotel I`ve seen in Sicily. It`s located in dirty, abandoned part of the city. Rooms are clean, but extremely poor. Everithing looks like it was designed by robot, not by human being. Clean, new, cheap, discomfortable.
Review 108:While the hotel was nice, but it's located in a run-down area. The surrounding buildings look abandoned. You will have to drive to get to any shops or restaurants. The beach directly across from the hotel is not usable. It's about a 5-10 mInute walk to the part of the beach that is nice.
Review 109:Friendly staff, big rooms, recently renovated. About 15 min drive from the temples of Agrigento. Breakfast was good with meat, cheese, yoghurt, cereal, hard boiled eggs, etc.
Review 110:We were very very satisfied with the hotel until the last night. Rightopposite is a local bar/beach restaurant which decided to hold a partywith very loud music until 2.30am! Despite asking the hotel if theycould go over the request stopping, they declined to do so. Sleep wasalmost impossible until after 3am!!This spoiled an otherwise good impression.
Review 111:The Hotel is not actually in San Leone but in the village next doorwhich is 5 minutes drive away. Location is magical - right by the seawith wonderful views. Good size room with double balcony. Easy access tothe main town of Agrigento and also San Leone for restaurants.Good breakfast with plenty of choice.
Review 112:difficult to find, even with navigation. Especially if you come late in the dark, you get rather suspicius if you are on the right way or off the track. Nothing to do outside hotel.
Review 113:simple but relative good value for money. no frills or thrills, this is just a simple hotel with modest furnishing.
Review 114:This is the best place for holiday. Peace, beauty and relax surrounded by incredible nature and lovely staff. We stayed at the hotel 8 nights and we enjoyed each of them a lot. Wonderful and extremely helpful staff, very clean and very nice hotel, located at the seacoast, awesome view and planty of places to visit. 5 min to Valey of Temples, 10 min to Scala dei Turchi, 5 min to Agrigento, 2 min to lovely restaurant, 2 min to Beautiful San Leone beach. The only thing you need is a car. It is very easy to rent one, if you do not have your own. Very good breakfast. Clean swimming pool. definitely we come back, We do recommend the hotel to every one. Grazie Antonio, Claudia and the whole lovely staff. We made our holiday unforgettable and perfect.
Review 115:Gravel surface round the swimming pool. Location poor. No restaurants within walking distance and no restaurant in hotel.
Review 116:Nice hotel and good room.
Review 117:Spacious clean rooms with balcony
Review 118:Sparse linens, pillows, blankets, etc. for a 4 star hotel.
Review 119:Beautiful views. Large room. Friendly staff.
Review 120:Poor wi-fi signal.
Review 121:Seafront location.
Review 122:Rather impersonal, totally functional hotel. A long way from any facilities other than the beach.
Review 123:Position on the sea.
Review 124:Swimmingpool was closed.
Review 125:Room is big, view is Nice.
Review 126:We liked the location. It is not far from the Valley of Temples and right on the shore. But we were there in March and only for one day.
Review 127:Definitely not a 4 star hotel
Review 128:Location
Review 129:Beach area was very dirty with trash.
Review 130:Balcony to view sea. Friendly staff and good breakfast.
Review 131:A drive to nearest restaurant
Review 132:Location on the beach, with plenty of on site parking.
Review 133:Plumbing was a bit noisy.Room and hotel very functional, not much charm about it.
Review 134:Large bedrooms, clean,swimming pool.
Review 135:The people were extremely friendly and were willing to help you. They would do anything to make your stay comfortable.
