Reviews for Hotel Diana

Review 1:We were disappointed that we were not staying in the hotel where we checked in,which looked lovely.Hotel Diana was a short walk away and rather impersonal. Our entire room was painted in a deep bright pink colour..the corridor in deep bright blue..not something that we would choose ourselves. The lighting and colour of the room made it rather hard to see to get ready at night. The shower was good but the paint was cracked and discoloured in the tray..something that didn't look appealing. The hotel is offered at a reasonable rate but unfortunately we wouldn't choose to stay again.

Review 2:Hotel Diana is in a good location beside the cathedral. We slept well as it is tucked away in a quiet side street.

Review 3:My room was in the street side. But was very noisy at night with people walking by and talking. It kept me awake 4 out of the 5 nights I was there. Of course, this is not the hotels fault, but nonetheless a problem.

Review 4:The location was perfect. Easy to find. The room was big and the bed comfortable. Nice size bathroom which was spotless. Breakfast wasn't included, but I purchased it a few times and was happy I did. Many things to eat.

Review 5:Bed is very uncomfortable, room is noisy either because mine was on the ground floor street side and also because it is not properly isolated and you can ear doors slamming and people talking.

Review 6:Location, staff, breakfast

Review 7:Quirky colour scheme throughout hotel. Lack of safe and fridge

Review 8:Excellent position in city Opportunity to enjoy breakfast in sister hotel San Martino Modern bathroom Parking availability

Review 9:Nothing!

Review 10:The room was absolutely amazing, bright, very big and clean. Staff were very helpful and organized a taxi for us as we left very early in the morning.

Review 11:Would have benefitted from electric jug and cups in room to make tea/coffee.

Review 12:Spotless, well located for access to the station, the Walls of Lucca and the Puccini concerts. Staff are great to deal with.

Review 13:The only lack is that there is no breakfast included, but the price is worth the location, and Lucca's bars are great:)

Review 14:We stayed at this cosy hotel in the very centre of Lucca, located in a fantastic position, just a stone's throw from the Cathedral. Staff is very polite and helpful. The room is nice and comfortable.

Review 15:The walls have a rather violent green decor. The bathroom is excellent but the shower head was fixed immovably at too high a height.

Review 16:Just off the cathedral square and a few hundred yards from the southern ramparts and railway station, it is also close to the principal sites of this pretty city

Review 17:minor: a bit noisy since the window was facing the street (did not at all bother me)

Review 18:The location is great, walking distance from the train station and the main square. The staff was very kind and the room very comfortable.

Review 19:Musty smell in entrance way, but not in room.

Review 20:We did not need a taxi from the train station as we had wheelie bags. However, there are some steps, going through the wall of Lucca town. Close to some restaurants and bike hire. Hotel was clean. In a quiet area of township. Staff operate from Albergo San Martino (around the corner). Staff very helpful.

Review 21:Rooms on the ground floor. Plus vending machines in the corridor, just arround my room made huge noise during the night when somebody bought some drink there. It woke me up few times during the night.

Review 22:The stuff at the reception was great.

Review 23:Hotel management not on site, at another hotel down the street.

Review 24:Room was spacious and clean. Nice bathroom. Interesting brightly painted walls. Location was great.

Review 25:Check-in /out at sister hotel around the block was a bit of a hassle. Bright lime-green paint and harsh lighting made it uncomfortable to want to stay in room.

Review 26:Room was spacious and clean with an updated private bathroom. Close to train station and just off a main square. The staff were very pleasant.

Review 27:Charming, central location in the back streets of Lucca. Parking available. Wi-Fi that works. The bedroom was decorated in a fun and funky style. Good value for money.

Review 28:We were very disapointed in the quality of the room after seeing the lobby. Room needed an upgrade and didn't look super clean. There was some confusion with our reservation at check in which was frustrating.

Review 29:Location was OK. Very nice lobby and main room.

Review 30:Liked everything.

Review 31:Comfy beds, very clean rooms and grounds. At check in we were told about all the amenities and than walked to our room by the same person. The were so nice and very helpful. The area is a quiet part of town yet close to everything.

Review 32:The other comments about the "vibrant" colors in the rooms are right in the sense that they are a bit weird (Ours was "Google's green"). It didn't bother me at all. There's nobody in the reception as it is shared with the San Martino Hotel.

Review 33:Lucca is such an amazing town to visit. The walls are amazing especially to travel by bike. The hotel is well located and quiet at night. The room was clean and modern which might not be very common in town.

Review 34:Room was dark and had only one window almost at the ceiling, we had to step up in a chair to open it. Feels like you're sleeping in a dungeon. Check in time is limited from 10AM to 11PM and between that if you need anything you won't get any help. Bathroom was ok. Mattresses were the worst nightmare, very old and soft, we woke up with a sore back. The only positive thing about this place is the location-5 minutes walking from the train station. But there are a lot of other options nearby. And when you make the reservation, pay attention, since the Albergo Diana is a "B-side" of a hotel that looks like very nice (even the checkin is made at the reception of this hotel, called San Martino). So, it is confusing if you are not aware of it - be very careful on the moment of making the reservation.

Review 35:Location. It's a 5 minutes walking from the train station.

Review 37:Location. Was a 5 minutes walking from the Train Station. But there are plenty of hotels and hostels with same prices around Lucca.

Review 38:Location is fabulous. Room and bathroom were extremely spacious and clean. Staff were pleasant. Price was reasonable. It's a 2 star so I hadn't expected anything fancy, but was pleasantly surprised.

Review 39:Really funky place with no receptionist, just a key to the outside door. Dark hallways, automatic light didn't turn on until you stumble on the step. Very basic, old (not antique) furniture. Too basic for the price.

Review 40:Location

Review 41:Hard surfaces mean loud reverberations from the hallways. This hotel annex is not staffed, which can mean loud guests are not dealt with. We had people come in very late who woke us up. The colors used in the room are not soothing (vivid hot pink and yellow) but it wasa fun change from other hotels.

Review 42:Great location inside the city walls. Large room and bathroom. Cool decor, although a bit too vivid for some tastes. Beds were comfortable. Good parking available. Nice, helpful staff. Would recommend for a clean, central location in lovely Lucca.

Review 43:nothing

Review 44:Easily accessible and peaceful location, great value for money - perfect for a short stay

Review 45:The location was excellent and perfect for exploring the beautiful town of Lucca.

Review 46:The staff were really friendly & very helpful. So close to the station & to all the wonderful sights of Lucca.

Review 47:Nothing to add

Review 48:Not far to walk from the train station.

Review 49:Location close to everything we wanted to see in Lucca! The wall, the Cathedrals, shopping and etc. hotel has parking and very pleasant staff!

Review 50:Service, bed, location

Review 51:Didn't have a mini fridge.

Review 52:Excellent location. Room rather small but adequate.

Review 53:The bed wasn't very comfortable but that is my only complaint.

Review 54:Staff very friendly Room was clean and well presented Great location

Review 55:There was no breakfast (though there was discount at a cafe nearby)

Review 56:Superb location, friendly n helpful staff, quirky rooms

Review 57:Location.

Review 58:Great location. Very friendly staff.

Review 59:Desing and one of the best designed bathrooms

Review 60:Room a bit dark because only window up high.

Review 61:Handy to train station and to attractions. Good-sized room, bathroom and shower.

Review 62:Location - friendly staff- privacy- security

Review 63:A kettle would have been a bonus.

Review 64:Lovely quiet hotel in an excellent position near to its sister hotel. Friendly service and comfortable room.

Review 65:Everything you need for a short stay. Easy to find with a car and parking (extra)

Review 66:Having to book in at a separate nearby hotel

Review 67:nothing really. Very pleasant and uneventful stay. No breakfast, reception is in another hotel nearby

Review 68:pretty much everything

Review 69:Bathroom did not have adequate hooks to hang clothes. towels

Review 70:Unique, quaint, nice location

Review 71:LOVED this hotel!! Super close to everything and the staff is fabulous. Room is spacious and absolutely adorable!

Review 72:Excellent location to the train station and the staff were very very efficient and helpful

Review 73:Location was great, with lots of convenient eating places nearby.

Review 74:particularly good location if you like quiet but well situated and in-expensive accomodation. Thanks to the staff.

Review 75:Room dark and cold and night but ok for a few nights

Review 76:Good location, nice staff, nice bathroom

Review 77:Nothing

Review 78:Great room, easy find, close to station, close to duomo.

Review 79:The staff we dealt with were super helpful. This was a a really fine stay-over, highly recommended.

Review 80:The water pressure could use an upgrade.

Review 81:Inside the centre and close to all the highlights.

Review 82:Very close to station and nicely decorated room.

Review 83:Doors are rather noisy

Review 84:Easy access to central area. Quiet location. Air conditioned rooms. Very obliging staff

Review 85:The staff was very helpful. Great A/C.

Review 86:Hotel within the limits of the old city, close to the train station. Very well maintained. Renovated and comfortable.

Review 87:Not much light in the Rooms.

Review 88:Location in town

Review 89:The walls in the rooms were really thin, you could hear plenty of noises from the other rooms.

Review 90:The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is close to the train station. Nice messages on the room walls.

Review 91:Would be nice to have an option to get just a cup of coffee or tea in the morning , as we could not find any patisseries nearby and it was raining. However, this will not stop me from recommending this hotel or booking it again when i am in Lucca.

Review 92:The modern design, the room was bright, airy and quite spacious. The staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 93:The colour scheme was outrageously awful, made worse by the small high window. My sister was very distressed and we were moved the next day into a 'normal' room in Albergo San Martino which owns Hotel Diana. Hotel Diana does not really exist now, it has no reception or staff of its own or access to breakfast and this bizarre colour scheme everywhere!

Review 94:The staff and everything about Albergo San Martino.

Review 95:Excellent location. But a bit basic even though the staff very friendly and helpful. However we up graded to the sister establishment the San Martino just around the corner and our stay was perfecto !

Review 96:Wonderful people who are so accomodating and kind. The room was beautiful , elegant, clean and warm, the location of the hotel was perfect in the charming historic center. They were so flexible when I had to change the dates. I recommend this hotel to EVERYBODY who goes to Lucca. I have stayed there 3 times, once with my husband, once with our children and once with my older parents. Each time we were happy and well served. the fact that there is no breakfast is not a problem since there are so many cafe's in the area- a perfect opportunity to taste the local treats!

Review 97:We traveled around for 10 days, this was our favourite hotel. The staff were very helpful. Printing my boarding cards and helping with places to eat and things to do. Highly recommend

Review 98:Paper thin walls. Lots of noise from outside the room to the hotel and from outside via the windows.

Review 99:Great Decor, Good Location, Staff were incredibly nice and helpful.

Review 100:I really liked the friendliness and service of the staff. One of them walked us half way through town with our luggage, because the taxi couldn't reach the hotel because of the marathon. And I thouht the hotel had a nice young atmosphere.

Review 101:A the follow up receptionist was aloof, and had no knowledge about city/regional bus info and airport connection. 'I don't know because I don't use them'. B WIFI connecting was complicated and reception weak. the second day it failed all together. C total lack of international channels on the tv...boring.

Review 102:location was ideal and room was comfortable, well furnished and nicely designed. the initial receptionist, during email contact and check in, was helpful and knowledgeable.

Review 103:It was a bit noisy as sound echoed through the corridors but it didn't really spoil our enjoyment of our holiday.

Review 104:Hotel is in a great location within the walls.

Review 105:Poor wifi signal.

Review 106:Good location close to train station & within the city walls. Short walk to the points of interest in Lucca. Very helpful staff.

Review 107:Didn't include breakfast. Hundreds of tv channels but none in English ..well it is Italy after all.

Review 108:Lovely room. Good location. Good free wifi. Liked the little terrace off the bathroom. Nicely decorated. Heat pump for aircon use.

Review 109:Having got to the Diana it took us five minutes to fins the notice onthe door advising that reception was at the Martino just around thecorner - not a real problem but could be clearer.

Review 110:Location of the hotel in the City was perfect - everything wasjust fine.

Review 111:We stayed on the ground floor near the front door. Huge slamming of the front door when people streaming from or to the hotel. Needs fixing. Could hear people talking in the corridor. Very noisy. Avoid the ground floor.

Review 112:in the center, parking nearby

Review 113:Shower very squeezy. Might be too small for large guests.

Review 114:We stayed in old part of hotel. Had just been freshly painted and was spotlessly clean. Brilliant location close to cathedral and very quiet. Had been told old part didn't have air conditioning, but it did and it worked efficiently. Room was modest, but cleaned each day and better than we had expected, given its 2 star status. Would definitely recommend it.

Review 115:The only problem I had was I was close to the front door and there was a problem with the closer on the door so it would make a noise when it slammed. I made one of the staff aware of it and he thanked me for my comments and said he would look into how to fix it.

Review 116:The staff were really helpful and friendly pointing out various places to eat and how to get there. The location is excellent walking distance to the centre of Lucca and most sights. It is also walking distance to the train station. It was great to have good quality wifi in the room.

Review 117:Hotel Diana is now part of Hotel San Martino so Reception is ondifferent street to pictures. No major snag but a pain if you arepulling heavy bags in steaming heat!

Review 118:Really friendly and helpful staff. Air con excellent and quiet. Superblocation for accessing Lucca walls and centre. If you time it right youcan get a blue marked parking space very close for less Euro overnightthan the Hotel charges. Very good value for an overnight stop near PisaAirport but away from Pisa.

Review 119:Décor a bit too violent red. Air conditioning temperamental.

Review 120:Requested quiet room and got it. Spacious, good beds, excellent pillows, big shower room

Review 121:We were in the newly opened annex and I found it cold and damp and verydifficult to open the outer door. Other than that the room was verycomfortable.

Review 122:It was very close to see the old city of Lucca. Staff was friendly.

Review 123:For check-in had to find nearby hotel to register and get key and directions were misleading. No in house reception. In all it took about 25 minutes to access the room. Room was OK but the building was recently refurbished and choice of dark colour scheme gave it a dark and gloomy atmosphere. Depressing.

Review 124:Location. Short distance from railway station and Lucca sights. Comfortable but albeit dark room.
