Reviews for La Maison de Tanger

Review 1:The staff was extremely welcoming and accommodating, especially Vincent, the owner. Even though breakfast was not included with our stay, we were greeted every morning with a full spread. The whole place is decorated tastefully and with character, and is an excellent environment for relaxing. There is nothing we didn't enjoy about our stay, and we would come back in a heartbeat.

Review 2:Luxury quiet hotel Professional and nice staff Lovely breakfast Location - a short walk from the Casbah Parking nearby for 20 diram - 24 hours Recommended

Review 3:The garden is amazing, but the pool and chairs outside did not seem clean or inviting. But please dont let this deter you-the place is wonderful except for this small detail!

Review 4:Lovely host who helped us with everything. Comfortable, beautiful room, beautiful house. I especially loved the books everywhere. The location is perfect as its just outside the medina, so you can park close if you have a car but walk within 5 min to the medina. We really loved our stay.

Review 5:The location was close to the Grande Socco and Medina Souks. But best of all was the roof top breakfast every morning and the tranquil garden and pool to cool off.

Review 6:The owner is so welcoming and the staff was amazing- kind and helpful! We had a fantastic night's sleep in a lovely room- the decor is delightful! The garden is an oasis of calm, a sanctuary after the busy medina.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:Very nice and helpful people, beautiful building, great roof terrace, fantastic garden. It felt like being in an Agatha Christie hotel. Without the murder of course!

Review 9:this is an absolutely gorgeous property inside and out, with a beautiful garden and pool. La Maison de Tangier is a beautiful oasis of calm and tranquility hiding in the heart of the bustling city. if you're spending a bit of time in Morocco or the south of spain, you might relish the luxury of space and a greater sense of privacy. as much as I love Moroccan riads Im very happy I stayed here and feel lucky to have had this peaceful refuge to relax in. the owner is lovely and I felt very well looked after. the breakfast was delicious and thoughtfully prepared.

Review 10:no bedside table in one room

Review 11:Vincent was very helpful and arranged trips for us and gave great advice on restaurants and transport options. Rooms were clean and comfortable and breakfast on the terrace was amazing with wonderful food and views.

Review 12:The location is great. The hotel itself is decorated with a subtle panache and has apropos decor that incorporates Moroccan and more western elements. La Maison was lovely and Vincent was quite helpful.

Review 13:Nothing!

Review 14:This is just the perfect place to stay in Tanger. Very good location, close to the old city and the city center, but in a small, quiet and green street. Wonderful house with wonderful garden. Very nice, stylish arranged and comfortable rooms. The whole house has such a lovely atmosphere and makes you feel at home. Delicious breakfast with fresh fruits, croissants and tasty moroccan pancakes. Very helpful, professional and competent staff. It´s just a perfect place for a long weekend or holiday. Thank you, La Maison de Tanger! :))

Review 15:The location is handy for Gran Zoco and the Medina however the location itself is a little rough around the edges. I didn't realise breakfast wasn't included in the price and factoring this in makes la maison de tanger one of the more expensive options to stay in Tangier.

Review 16:Very comfortable, chic little hotel. Staff were very accommodating despite not speaking much English. Very peaceful space, lovely garden, comfortable lounge. Would stay there again.

Review 17:Thierry, the owner, really takes care for his guests, it was great to chat with him. The rooms are carefully decorated and the garden and the terrace great for relaxing. 100% recommended!

Review 18:Amazing place with lovely terrace overlooking the whole old medina on the roof top and beautiful garden aside with a pool. Staff was super helpfull in any possible questions and super welcoming. The place to stay in Tanger

Review 19:It was the second time we was there and it was eaven more nice then the first.we had two lovely nights at the hotel.very friendly staff and host. We will be back.

Review 20:Incredible, beatiful, luxurious , unique ... Lovely place to relax and enjoy. Vincent, the owner, will do anything in the world to please you and make you feel home. Only 8 rooms : well appointed, big, stylish. The pool area is a relaxing place in a tropical garden. Breakfast ist a poem , inside or in the terrace. Service is personal...What else can you ask for ? I could write forever. Just go and see it by yourself !

Review 21:A lovely place with a great view. Near the grand circle and a cute park.

Review 25:tiny tropical oasis in the city

Review 26:Coming home

Review 27:A great location just 5 mins from the medina. Very friendly helpful receptionist. amazing breakfasts. Great views from rooftop

Review 28:Proximity. Staff.

Review 29:None.

Review 30:Everything was fantastic: Room, staff, garden, breakfast...

Review 31:Great staff, merci beaucoup. A delightful small hotel near the medina.

Review 32:Very friendly staff. Tiny room although quite comfortable. Gorgeous hotel.

Review 33:Tranquil atmosphere, comfortable seating areas where you could curl up with a good book.

Review 34:Excellent staff,if your lucky Vincent will greet you.Very knowledgeable and will help with recommendation.(Gourmet and Art restaurant was excellent and easy walk. This is not a Hyatt Regency but a fabulous original style treasure using Plaster,Terra cotta and stone tile .Very nice patios ,garden and main greeting room.

Review 35:Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace, which was rather windy and cold in the mornings when I stayed there in the beginning of May. The food is exposed to the morning sun with no refrigeration or temperature control meaning that by mid-morning pastries are dry and the cut fruit is cooked by the direct sunlight and swarmed by bees. Overall, a fantastic place, just let down by the breakfast experience.

Review 36:Very nice family-run type of hotel. The owner Vincent is extremely pleasant and goes out of his way to make sure guests are well looked after and he is happy to arrange for taxi transfers from/to the airport and for local tours. All the staff is equally pleasant and helpful. The hotel is nicely decorated and well located just a short walk away to the Kasbah and medina. You can pre-order a cooked meal for dinner if you don't fancy going out. That's especially useful on the first night in Tangiers when one is not familiar with the local food and dinning options - I did that and the food was great. The pool is not really a swimming pool, more like a small pool, but should be good enough to cool off on the hot summer days. There is no television on the room (at least on the one I had), but that is neither here or there - after a day out walking around Tangiers, the last thing you want to do is to sit in your room and watch TV.

Review 37:This is virtually a five year old property having been rebuilt & extended within existing walls beautifully finished, extremely comfortably appointed & provided a brilliant breakfast. Faultless

Review 38:There is no phone inthe rooms which is strange. Also it was very cold in the room. We stayed in this hotel in February. The Ac was not enough to heat the room.

Review 39:We liked the location and the ambience. Especially the interior design is very pleasant. Staff is kind and friendly.

Review 40:What's there to not like in a beautiful oasis in the centre of mediocrity.

Review 41:Great location, easy to gget around. The Maison was so welcoming, it felt likehome from home. Vincent, Zacharia and the rest of the staff where very friendly and would go out of their way. The house its self was stunning and our room was very comfortable. Decor beautiful a mix of Morrocan old and new, very stylish.

Review 42:The location of the Hotel is close to the Medina and the environment is crowded, but we felt the environment is unsafe because of the approach of the people.

Review 43:The interior decoration of the hotel was pleasureful. The staff was so kind and polite. Breakfast was elaborated.

Review 44:Nothing that we didn't like.

Review 45:Very good place to stay. Very clean and very friendly staff working there. This place is really close to the main Socco place

Review 46:Truly surprised to see only postive reviews about this place. We trusted those reviews as well at first and booked the place. Before arrival I tried to call the hotel several times to confirm the time of my visit, ask some directions etc. - answering machine was the only answer. Very unprofessional. Neither I have received any welcoming e-mails of phone calls with offers to assist with arrival or at least to ask the time of my arrival. But the worst and most amazing things happened after arrival. Couple of guys met us on reception to tell that...there are no free rooms for us! Why? Because this is allegedly the fault of the booking.com. How wonderful! But here comes the bunch of strange things:- I've never encountered overbooking using booking.com service (for 10 years). Never, even if bookings were done 1 hour before arrivals,- I was not notified by hotel in any way about overbooking though they had plenty of time to do it and all my contact info.I immediately called booking.com and reported the situation (they registered the call, sincerely apologized and promised to call the hotel, offered another hotel etc.) - later I knew that this my phonecall was very smart of me and saved me 85 EUR.Why? Because guess what the hotel did the next day after we left its unwelcomimg premises? - Reported to booking.com the NO-SHOW about us and claimed the cancellation fee(penalty) equal to 1-night stay!!!This was simply unbelievable and shocking. The only reason that blocked the cancellation fee collection(and became the proof of my arrival) was that phonecall from me to booking.com.Last bad thing about this hotel - they called the taxi to take us to the port - 5 minutes ride, but they called some their friend on interurban taxi(white taxi). If you were in Marocco you know that these taxi usually must not operate within cities. The driver charged us 4 times of the normal price(100 Dirhams vs 25 Dirhams).

Review 47:Beautiful new hotel.. It is a wonderful apartment with all design lovers would appreciate. It is luxury stay without being too expensive. Beautiful lobby area and beautiful garden as well. It is 5 minutes to Madina- and the breakfasts are to die for.

Review 48:We loved our stay here. Upon our arrival we were pleasantly surprised by the host with the present of a free upgrade to the best room in the house. The ambiance is relaxed and sophisticated, and the house is absolutely beautiful and perhaps in the best location of Tangier. We love it.

Review 49:The hotel is located near the souks and the casbah but this part of Tangier is also pretty run down and you are accosted by merchants and their 'reps' almost constantly. Bottom line: loved the hotel but hated Tangier.

Review 50:The hotel is in a quiet but I believe basically safe though somewhat dilapidated neighborhood. That said, the hotel itself is as charming a place as you can imagine. Our room had a large terrace overlooking a small but lovely garden with a tile inlay pool. Wifi access is excellent and the hotel will prepare an excellent dinner with wine if you request it. The staff is beyond courteous and seeks to please. Overall, We enjoyed this hotel more than almost any other we have come across in all our travels.

Review 51:Nice staff, good location, pretty hotel!

Review 52:all round an excellent place - everything was wonderful

Review 53:Friendly Staff, very helpful, great location, both rooms I booked were superb, simple and elegant.

Review 55:staff, garden, breakfast, design, very very comfortable room with balcon. good place to stay.

Review 56:Everything was perfect.

Review 57:Excellent welcome from very friendly owners, a port in the storm in Tanger, wonderful decor and garden - a real find
