Reviews for B&B Anfiteatro
Review 1:It wasn't bad but the number of steps are difficult if you have any infirmity.
Review 2:Location was excellent, Lucca is a beautiful city and the apartment was lovely as well.
Review 3:The flat was dark and dingy We asked for a second bed light and were promised one--it never arrived. We were excited to have a washing machine, but were told not to use it until we were instructed on its use. This never happened. The apartment needs to be decorated better. Right now it feels like a used furniture store. The two uneven rickety flights up to our place was surprising since we specifically asked for a ground floor. The terrace was hard to enjoy as it had an air conditioning compressor and a washing machine--no place to sit. In all ---caveat emptor.
Review 4:The location was great. Lots of restaurants, sites to visit and shops to wander through.
Review 5:We were put in an annex 50 metres away from the main hotel, having to climb up 2 very high flights of stairs with luggage wasn't very nice after a long drive but we got help from the manager so not a big problem and the room was very nice, spacious and quiet. This didn't concern us but I noted that they charged a supplement for late check-in, this isn't very commercial...
Review 6:Friendly staff and clear indications on how to get there from the free car parking spot 10 minutes walk away; very nice room, good and easy wi-fi connection ; decent breakfast, helpful staff with good indications of what to see and do. Perfect location!
Review 7:Perfect location right at the heart of Lucca. Cosy place to stay for a few nights with decent facilities and very accommodating staff. No complaints at all.
Review 8:The facilities were basic, but sufficient. It was good value for the location. I thought it was strange that our room was never cleaned after 3 days, however this may be how B&B's work??
Review 9:Location fantastic, very close to the action.
Review 10:Great location in the center, free parking at 10min walking distance, friendly and helpful staff, clean room, couldn't be better for a weekend in Lucca!
Review 11:Accommodation had no Reception area, that was in another building 100 yds away. Access up 6 flights of stairs, that needs to be incorporated in information for guests prior to booking. No sofa or alarm clock as on details.
Review 12:Excellent location. Good breakfast . Kitchen shared but well equipped. Unlimited tea & coffee & fruit.
Review 13:There was quite a strong deodorizer in the rooms and the common areas. I was a bit sensitive to that.
Review 14:The breakfast was plentiful with a good variety and fruit and drinks were available at all times in the breakfast room. The reception was warm and helpful.
Review 15:The room was right in the centre of Lucca near restaurants and shops. It was very pretty and spacious within a secure building. The breakfast was fresh and tasty.
Review 16:Having to leave.
Review 17:We liked everything about Anfiteatro..The location is perfect. The staff is helpful. The breakfast is prepared for you and it's huge, the rooms are beautiful with large showers, memory foam mattresses and pillows. What a relaxing sleep!
Review 18:We booked a 2-bedroom apartment, while we were put in 1-bedroom, the staff claiming it a 2-bedroom. Only after an inquiry did the staff admit an issue with their system. We requested a discount and received a small reduction. The staff should have informed us in advance, we would have booked a different apartment from another provider.
Review 19:Location in the center, clean apartment. Directions provided in advance. Well equipped kitchen.
Review 20:the location is amazing! Great idea to visit Lucca - very charming and quaint town. This B & B is in the best location and there is space to unload your luggage and then go park your car. Lots of wonderful restaurants close by. The breakfast was delicious and the staff was very friendly!
Review 21:If you need to get a good nights sleep, this location may not be the place as the noise from passing loud predestrains and motor bikes is heavy
Review 22:Clean , good breakfast, centrally located and friendly staff
Review 23:Bathroom lock didn't work and we got stuck in the bathroom (briefly). A few lightbulbs needed replacing. But these are really minor complaints. It was a great place.
Review 24:Perfect location, very good directions, lots of space, loved the apartment.
Review 25:One of the antique chair had a broken arm. Didn't know there was a fridge in the room until we were ready to leave. 4 flights of stairs to suite.
Review 26:Great location to visit Lucca. Close to some good eateries and easy access to the Wall, especially to catch the sunset. Got upgraded to a suite. Huge room and bathroom. Nice view.
Review 27:As we chose an apartment with view to Anfiteatro, we suffered a little with the noise from restaurants/bars but It wasn't extreme and didn't affect our safisfaction with the B&B.
Review 28:The room/apartment was absolutelly clean and prepared to us. The location is amazing, specially because we chose a apartment with view to the anfiteatro. The services was great too!
Review 29:Nothing really , but be aware that apartments are located up a couple of flights of fairly steep stairs.
Review 30:This was our second visit , apartment full of character in a wonderful location . All amenities are on doorstep .
Review 31:This was our 2nd stay at the B&B Anfiteatro. Last time we had one of their apartments overlooking the Anfiteatro, this time we didn't want to cook so stayed in the B&B portion on the street just behind. The room was spacious and comfortable. The bed was almost king size and firm. The bathroom had great tile, plenty of room and an excellent shower. It's a great location within the walls.
Review 32:Excellent location ,very helpful and accomodating staff . Highly recommend . We were leaving very early in the morning we were able to help ourselves to breakfast which we didn't expect . We were able to check in early another added bonus . We had a short stay and would love to have stayed longer
Review 33:No one was there when we arrived and no note or indication of when they would retur. We went to lunch, and there was a note when we checked back. We stayed in another location, the Anfiteatr Suite which was up a very long two story walk up.
Review 34:The room was clean and spacious. Breakfast was great, lovely diningroom and the young woman who served it was very pleasant.
Review 35:Not being able to drive to the location, very high and steep stairs to the 3rd floor apartment, thus luggage handling was a chore
Review 36:Great location, comfortable apartment
Review 37:Lucca is absolutely wonderful, the room was clean, we'll proportioned and situated in a central location. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Review 38:The internet was not working, Lots of stairs, maybe 15 or so if you bags are heavy , it reminds you to travel light when you are in Europe
Review 39:we liked that the apartment was complete to even make a meal if we wanted to , we didnt use the facilities but it was well appointed, close to the square and good restaurants and not far from the main office for breakfast.
Review 40:Everything was a bit special - the beautiful towels & linen, the crockery in the dining room, even the breakfast with boiled eggs in egg cups. Our room "Puccini" had lovely hand painted furniture. For the price & location we were delighted with our experience.
Review 41:WIFI was a joke !!! It was replaced several times and each time didn't work . My roaming on my ph worked perfectly well but cost me $140 to use . Steep stairs . Very noisy at night and in mornings . Windows didnt actually close completely against the frames
Review 42:very clean and very good kitchen . Good bathroom , comfortable bed
Review 43:Location was very good Room and overall property is very good Staff is helpful (he even carried my suitcase for two floors :)) Breakfast was good as well.
Review 44:Nothing really, very good service. There seem to be rooms of several sizes, so some might be smaller than the ones in picture (like ours was), but it wasn't a problem for us.
Review 45:We had a friendly welcome, and the location was perfect for having a walk in beautiful Lucca. Room was small but enough for us for one night. Bathroom beautiful, too. Breakfast was served with classical style and by a friendly lady. It was great to start our holidays in this historical location and friendly atmosphere.
Review 46:Location right in the heart of beautiful Lucca. We had a large suite in the annex on Fillungo and it was excellent. A large four-poster bed and a good bathroom.
Review 47:I find mattresses with latex foam a little too warm. This mattress did get warm. Otherwise, everything else was great.
Review 48:Huge room with very nice decor. The breakfast was excellent with good selection and very pleasant service.
Review 49:Breakfast - coffee not amazing. Pastries and fruit not interesting.
Review 50:Wonderful clean comfortable bedroom- large with high ceiling. Staff unbelievably friendly and helpful. Excellent city centre location but quiet. Air con tip top. Beautiful bathroom too.
Review 51:Getting car in and out of the medieval city to drop off our luggage was a challenge, not surprising, I guess.
Review 52:Very spacious apartment in perfect central location. Had all we needed to make for a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful on advise on where to park for free outside city walls.
Review 53:It wasn't bad - just frustrating the internet only worked in the breakfast area. There were no instructions for the TV.
Review 54:Excellent location Extremely comfortable mattress & pillows
Review 55:Staff did nit respond to two phonr calls and text messages. Not given rooter when chckimg in for the wi fi. Really bad connction. Air condition did not work well or not at all. No explanations given. There was a young lady though thatt accompanied us was very nice and helpul.
Review 56:Style of appartment. Price very good
Review 57:None.
Review 58:Great location, great room, breakfast continental and served by prompt and happy staff to set one up for a day of exploring. So central it couldn't be better and fab character, really rate it highly, a real taste of Italy.
Review 59:We did not get the accommodation we booked. We were told this wasbecause there was no water!! The apartment we were given was above abusy restaurant and there was no soundproofing so it was difficult tosleep. The aircondtioning was confined to the living room and only a fanwas supplied for the bedroom. This just moved the hot air around. Theapartment appeared to have been furnished with left overs with far morewardrobes (with broken handles)than were needed but just 6 coathangersone of which was for a child's garment. The kitchen equipment wasmigre and mismatched and overall the accommodation was not what webooked or up to the standard we expected based on reviews and thecompany's website.
Review 60:The bed was comfortable and the bedding clean.
Review 61:No tea /coffee making facilities, for some reason the Italians seem to find it more important to have a television in their rooms than a kettle and some coffee and tea. We were sound asleep and at 1-15am the occupant of the room above came back to start cleaning the roof terrace which was directly above our ceiling, brush brush for five mins. then scrub, scrub for ten mins, then the hose pipe, the brush fell over bang on the ceiling VERY LOUD !!. Also Bizarrely there was no mirror on the dressing table ?
Review 62:Great position, clean room, good breakfast.
Review 63:A bit of a tricky trek from the train station (20min) especially if you have luggage. But otherwise a great location close to everything-restaurants, shops, bike rental.
Review 64:Beautifully decorated and well located in the old town! Spacious with a little balcony with table and chairs. Breakfast was good and the staff very friendly (although spoke very little English so communication was tricky). Would definitely stay again and would recommend to others!
Review 65:WiFi doesn't work when in the room.
Review 66:Great location on the main street through Lucca, yet you hear nothing from the hustle and bustle from the city when you are in the room. We had booked a suite which is located at a different location (just around the corner) from the main B&B. The room has been recently renovated and has antiques and some kitsch country chique furniture.
Review 67:Loads of stairs, do not book if you have a disability, terrible wifi in the rooms and poor breakfast choice. Get to breakfast early as we arrived 30 mins late and they didn't have any eggs left?!
Review 68:Nice decoration in the hotel suites, great location and beautiful bathroom.
Review 69:We had a fantastic stay at B&B Anfiteatro. The rooms were clean, had a modern bathroom with powerful shower. It was really useful to have a mini fridge in room to store water and wifi. Also loved the pebbles at the bottom of the shower! The staff were so friendly and helpful, providing us with a map of the town on arrival, with details of the best attractions. The breakfast was delicious - a great choice from fresh pastries to boiled eggs and prosciutto. Great location, walking distance from all the attractions (churches, towers and old City walls) and near restaurants too. We had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend B&B Anfiteatro!
Review 70:Instructions for driving to the hotel. We were given confusing instructions about how to arrive by car and ended up walking a long way dragging our luggage.
Review 71:The apartment had separate living and sleeping areas and good kitchen facilities.
Review 72:This adorable bed and breakfast is located right in the middle of Lucca and about a fifteen minute walk from the station. Barbara emailed us helpful information on how to find the place from Pisa. The reception was in a different building around the corner from our actual suite but that wasn't a problem at all. The room itself was decorated romantically and the WIFI connection was good. It's been pretty hit or miss at other hotels and hostels for us. Facilities are clean and comfortable. Breakfast was a simple but delicious spread of cold cuts, breads, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee and teas. The place is wonderful and I hope to stay here again someday.
Review 73:The staff were extremely helpful. The room was beautiful and the perfect location. You are able to watch the hustle of the streets from the balcony. Can't wait to visit again. Expensive but worth it!!
Review 74:The rooms are in the center of the old town, about 10 min.walking from the parking and dificult to find the road. Our room was at the third floor but without elevator.
Review 75:Clean and big rooms.
Review 76:Didn't like the breakfast very ordinary had to wait till 8.30 very late for a B&B
Review 77:The location was very good, we were grateful to have our luggage taken up two flights of stairs of which were steep, thanks
Review 78:Difficulty of finding the place.
Review 79:The hosts were superb. Went out of his way to help us locate the accommodation after our GPS took us 2km in wrong direction. Also a great restaurant - definitely eat there not in the piazza!
Review 80:The lack of organisation. Arriving at 4pm we had to phone for someone to come to meet us to open the door and book us in. We have stayed here twice and on both occasions been somewhat disappointed by the breakfast and by the slightly chaotic arrangements -eg. having to ask for milk for cereal, being unsure whether we were expected to make our own coffee because it took a long time for the member of staff to offer.
Review 81:The location in central Lucca is wonderful. We stayed in a suite with lovely views of rooftops and church. The room was large and airy with good facilities and a very pleasant bathroom. The staff are pleasant and friendly.
Review 82:One of stuff said, shared kitchen is only for family with kid. And also said, there is no sentence in booking confirmation about shaerd kitchen. Actually booking.com saying there is shaerd kitchen.
Review 83:Checkin and out stuff is friendly. Room is cosy. Good location. Breakfast is good.
Review 84:Our stay in a suite room was incredible, we wished we'd stayed longer! Beautiful room with a view of the street, gorgeous bathroom and breakfast room. Lovely attendant in the breakfast room too.
Review 85:Falling asleep under the high, high ceilings contemplating that the rooms are1500 years old (even older floors exist below) while appreciating the perfect mix of modern comfort.
Review 86:Great location in Lucca. Perfect little room with a lovely breakfast area right outside the door. Verusca was very kind and helpful and that is always a big plus!
Review 87:Wifi not work at all and hard to access mAnager who was very busy
Review 88:Stage location, the quality if the propert - modern but kept within the appropriate historical context .
Review 89:Offered a choice of rooms on arrival. Good breakfast with fresh fruit in pleasant surroundings. Comfortable bed / pillow. Near Anfiteatro & De Cervesia beer bar.
Review 90:Great location, right in the old town. Very comfortable stay with ample space in rooms and in the common area of the apartment. Kitchen is stocked with all glasses, plates and utensils needed for a longer stay. Paid parking located nearby is free at night from 8pm to 8am.
Review 91:Walls seemed a bit thin.
Review 92:The owner was really nice and helpful. We stayed in the annex along the main road, the room was amazing, really nice decor, beautiful breakfast room with a good choice for breakfast. Location was great, right next to Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, the centre of Lucca.
Review 93:WIFI dropped out sometimes and when we arrived the staff seemed just awake and not very helpful. Other staff the next days made up for it though.
Review 94:We stayed in the apartment which was very spacious, perfect for our daughter to run around! The location is great as well as the facilities.
Review 95:Difficult to find amongst the streets, but fine eventually. Adjacent restaurant noise a bit 'off putting' but it's Italians having fun!!!
Review 96:Comfortable and clean facilities and cool in the early summer heat.
Review 97:Close enough to station, bike hire place just around the corner and the room was wonderful - light airy and comfortable. Really enjoyed my stay! Yummy brekkie too.
Review 98:Previously we stayed in a different building which was quieter and we had a more enjoyable experience. The room we had was on a corner with a bar/restaurant which was quite loud till late at night. The bed was made up of two singles which kept sliding apart. I didn't find the staff to be as attentive this time - no one asked if you wanted more coffee, although it was available if you asked. Also, we left our luggage and collected later on in the day but we were told that there wasn't a toilet available to use.
Review 99:This is my second stay at this hotel. The hotel is in a good location and there are maps and books available for guests to use. Breakfast was nice. It was good value for money.
Review 100:The location, the comfortable bed, excellent showers and best of all the facility to make one's own coffee and tea at all hours and the good self service breakfast.
Review 101:Couldn't get WIFI but not a show stopper...didn't really need it!
Review 102:The location was AWESOME! We couldn't have been more central. The staff were super helpful and very eager to make everything comfortable. Directions to the property were great...including car parking advice!
Review 103:Parking was a bit far away, and getting to the room required climbing many, many staircases. Breakfast was so-so -- a cold cappuccino was the low point.
Review 104:Large room and bathroom -- amazing view! Very welcoming staff.
Review 105:It was dark and very noisy as it was above a restaurant which meant we had to close the windows. No kettle, no toaster, no tea towel, they only changed the towels once in six nights.
Review 106:The position was good and the apartment was large with two bedrooms and a bath
Review 107:Breakfast is typical Italian, so not bad but sweet stuff, not my cup of tea but hey, you're in Italy.
Review 108:Typical Italian feel, lovely decorated rooms inside a typical Lucca house. High ceilings and romantic atmosphere. Right in the centre of everything! Price is worth it.
Review 109:Only downside is a very steep stairway which could be difficult for some. The staff carries your luggage both up and down.
Review 110:Our second stay here, this is a lovely place, very good rooms, comfortable and well decorated. There is a very helpful staff. Breakfasts are very good. If we manage to get back someday to Lucca, we will stay again.
Review 111:The Bathroom was very small and tight. It was hard to have a shower without wetting most of the Room. The Main Entrance is a bit "off putting" but once you get used to it , it isn't an issue. Our arrival was a bit confusing [ because we use Skype for phoning and needed wifi.] If it wasn't for a lovely girl on a bike who rang the Booking Office we may have been waiting outside the Main Door for a long while. The Agent doesn't arrive till you phone them first. All ended well though.
Review 112:We had the Magnolia Room which was very comfortable as it had a 2nd. bedroom and this gave us extra space. The Breakfasts served in the courtyard were really charming experiences. Elize was a lovely person and even though we could not understand Italian we always managed to get on really well. She has such a lovely personality. Lucca is a cute , flat City and is very easy to get around by foot. I am glad we did not have a Car, it may have been different.
Review 113:It was advertised as a B&B but it wasn't. The apartment is an annex so it is several blocks removed from the B&B. That wasn't clear. Also, it is up a few flights of stairs. But Luca carried our bags the whole way (thank you!)
Review 114:Very spacious apartment, nice bedrooms, nice bathrooms, nice kitchen, sweet neighborhood.
Review 115:Orienting thru curling lanes I was frequently going wrong way....but like other Italian city centres, I learned to read street signs up on high walls.
Review 116:Loved cycling the city wall and ruins as well as braving some city alleys. Easy to walk to Duomo and New Modern Art Gallery LU.C.C.A.....great Exhib too. Staff were extra helpful negotiating car thru narrow, tight-corner alleys to drop bags and then to free parking.
Review 117:We were booked in the annex but were put in the main building. My bedroom was directly above a restaurant. So noisy, we did not sleep! They tried to tell us that we should expect that in a tourist area!
Review 118:Great breakfast.
Review 119:It wasn't a problem for us but they're quite a few steps up to the apartment but staff did help with carrying my case which was kind.
Review 120:The apartment was very stylish, simply decorated and absolutely spotless.
Review 121:There was no kettle or bowls, and the iron didn't work.
Review 122:We stayed in one of the apartments, it was really beautiful in a fantastic location and the staff were really great. We really thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
Review 123:There are a lot of stairs to climb to get to rooms. Only one pillow per person provided...no spares in the cupboard
Review 124:Very clean and very quiet Very nice clean new bathroom
Review 125:Noise from local restaurant, but as soon as it closed, silence ensued. Difficult to find. No obvious sign outside.
Review 126:Convenient and comfortable. Local parking available but at height of tourist season spaces may be a problem.
Review 127:The annexe we were put in had 2 very long flights of stairs to climb. Their description "City Views" was a bit optimistic - it was just of a narrow street down below some rather uninteresting 2nd floor windows.
Review 128:Bright large room, with good air conditioning - temperature outside was mid 30s. Having access to the breakfast room 24/7 was good for an extra cup of tea during the day.
Review 129:2 flights of stairs; no problem for me but not suitable for the elderly or infirm
Review 130:Everything in the room was new as they had only just commissioned these rooms. Lovely quiet spot, yet in the heart of the town
