Reviews for Hotel Villa Cheli

Review 1:At the end of November, it was pretty cold in the rooms and there was no extra duvet provided. The worst thing however was breakfast. The tables weren't prepared, it felt like going in a youth hostel with a unspectacular and unhealthy buffet where coffee was provided from a jug and fruits were old and almost rotten. Also upon asking there was no addition of fresh milk... Breakfast made the stay, which I consider good value for money, very unpleasant. It would take so little to improve!

Review 2:I liked that the Hotel is close to the motorway, which meant that it was good to stop by. It still is very quiet, as you cannot hear the road. In summer the hotel must be beautiful, it is a classical Tuscan villa, with nice rooms and high ceilings, a beautiful swimming pool and park. Rooms were clean and bathrooms spacious.

Review 3:Very small shower (only 64cm square). No lounge chair in the bedroom even though there was plenty of room for one. No in-room tea coffee facilities.

Review 4:Pleasant countryside and interesting old property. Suitable continental breakfast, enjoyed the in-house restaurant meals and their cost of wine. Enjoyed the cat that knew which armchair was his!

Review 5:The location is too far from everything. There's minimum public transport which allows one to move around easily.

Review 6:The staff is helpful and the environment is great.

Review 7:-

Review 8:This villa is charming and beautiful. It is situated very near the city (about 5 min drive). The room was nice and clean. The bed is ok. We got a crib for our baby. The breakfast as everywhere flaces, sandwiches

Review 9:The wifi was unreliable in our room, though just fine in the main lobby.

Review 10:The staff were excellent and quite helpful. The hotel and grounds are beautiful and quite convenient to Lucca.

Review 11:Staff were quite rude, the receptionist and the waitress at dinner on our second night when we ate at the hotel. Receptionist seemed really disinterested and didn't even ask if we enjoyed our stay. Felt like it was because we were English.

Review 12:Beautiful setting and views, really close to Lucca. Hotel would be ideal for weddings. We had a large room with a jacuzzi, which was beautiful.

Review 13:Booking.com misleading even by taking the credit of the hotel genuine gesture of giving a substantial discount.

Review 14:Everything, the hotel is beautiful, the staff is amazing. although booking.com did a mistake by booking an economy room at the price of superior, the receptionist was amazing, caring and really heartfelt. we decided to go back in a few years to renew our vows.

Review 15:Sewage smell in first room but we Changed rooms to a downstairs room.

Review 16:The staff were friendly. The swimming Pool excellent, magnificent views and most importantly the bar stays open until late so you can enjoy an after drink on the balcony. Molto Bene!

Review 17:The fact that we couldn't purchase any food at lunchtime. The hotel did not provide anything at all (even simple bar snacks). We were told to walk outside of the hotel and across the road, however this only provided ice cream and a couple of sandwiches that we were dissatisfied with (no vegetarian options) which was a problem.

Review 18:The hotel was in a beautiful setting and had lots of Italian charm. Was rather quiet during our visit making it feel very intimate. Very close to Lucca town although car hire is highly recommended as taxis returning from Lucca are extremely limited. We look forward to returning to this beautiful hotel again, which was fantastic value for money.

Review 19:Top floor room dormer window and so no view. so if you are concerned specify when booking.

Review 20:AtOutside dinning. Lovely courtyard. Great country house feel. Very friendly staff. Pool nice.

Review 21:We stayed in one of the apartments and unfortunately there was no view from the bedroom window and it was also a fairly dark room.

Review 22:The staff were very helpful and friendly

Review 23:The reception area is cluttered and when you walk in it feels more like a time share hotel. Shower cubicle and bathroom very small. Rooms not really sound proof and our neighbours kept slamming their doors. Ok for a one night stay.

Review 24:The staff were very friendly and helpful

Review 25:The breakfast was not even mediocre. My kids went down at 9:30 when they got up and most things were gone and they didn't even get orange juice. We had a double bed in the loft and it was really hot... the a/c did not reach up there.

Review 26:The pool and setting are exquisite! Lovely old Italian villa. Our room for 4 was nice but a little outdated. Lucca is definitely a place to visit.

Review 27:Breakfast was fine but could maybe be improved but as it is a 3 star it is sufficient. This wouldn't stop me staying again

Review 28:Location was great as out of town and quiet and has a huge garden - best feature - the pool - lovely on a hot day. Girl in arrival was great, very friendly. It has a restaurant and bar. Just outside of town so handy for getting in and easy to find as on a main road.

Review 29:I didn't like my room, just because I didn't know I was staying in the rooftop, without proper windows. But the room had lots of space, had lovely decoration, comfortable bed, and it was clean!

Review 30:It's a very beautiful place to relax. The hotel is a lively house nearby Lucca. The room was clean, but they put us in the third floor, without balcony and proper window, so it was not a sunny room, and we didn't have any view whatsoever. I requested to change rooms, but apparently they didnt have any other rooms left... Staff was nice, but I sometimes confusing with the services, especially during dinner. Dinner was a delicious experience with lovely tables outdoors, btw. Pool was good and we were lucky with sunny and beautiful days in Tuscany.

Review 31:staff was friendly but this doesn't apply to all the staff. We would have preferred more smiles.... the room was not the same as shown in pictures. yet the thing that was actually a burden for our short stay is the curtains. light penetrated as if there was nothing at all. so we were up early - not so ideal on a holiday. a blackout is necessary!

Review 32:the location is ideal for those who have a car. swimming pool area is very nice and breakfast included a wide variety of choice being in Italy. dinner was good. worth a try. perhaps serrvice could be slightly better.

Review 33:Difficult to get to a supermarket without a car. Not enough staff to serve and the Restaurant does not open for lunch.

Review 34:Beautiful grounds and the pool is the perfect place to relax in the sun. Restaurant serves great dinner at reasonable prices.

Review 35:I felt we were a bit mislead with the apartment we stayed in, thinking we would have an apartment in the main hotel. A sofa in the apartment would have been a great addition too.

Review 36:The Hotel location, grounds and building is lovely. Clean apartment.

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:It has beautiful gardens and a big swimming pool. The room was very big and have a good view of the big garden. Wifi was good. You can park your car in front of the hotel for free. Breakfast was very rich and good. It took 10 minutes by car to go to Lucca city center.

Review 39:Staff would respond politely to direct questions, but no real feeling of hospitality.

Review 40:Chlorine free swimming pool (uses ozone) heated only by the sun - which in May meant pretty chilly.

Review 41:The first night we stayed there was a wedding reception held in the outside restaurant area. Our attic room looked right over this and the guests partied long and loud!

Review 42:It was nice to be able to stay out of the urban area for a while. Facilities were good, kids enjoyed being able to have a swim and after some weeks away from our own pets, get some "love" from the resident cats. Restaurant was nice but just be aware that it isn't open every night which means a drive to find dinner.

Review 43:The receptionist is a nice lady with high work efficiency, as she has the capability to organize her work and is always ready to offer help. The villa itself is the way as the picture displays, elegant with its own charisma. This is a place I dream to come back again.

Review 44:impersonal hotel, busy staff, hardly spoken to, unclear who was in charge, once we introduced ourselves (as booking throough booking.com) alloted room without explanation at the top of a building without windows (a single velux in the tiled roof would make it insufferable in the summer except by switching on the noisy aircon) although it was clear that there were unfilled rooms ie felt we represented the bottom of their intended market; our most expensive stay among many in Tuscany we're unlikely to choose it again

Review 45:beautiful location just ten mintues from Lucca, in a renovated elegant villa

Review 46:-The double bed were two single beds very bad attached. -The hot water was not working properly -Value proposition vs price is poor

Review 47:-The style of the hotel

Review 48:Comfortable hotel, only 5 minutes away by Car from the city of Lucca and very easy to find. The room was large and clean but unfortunately didn't have a window. We were there in April so the pool wasn't open yet but I am sure it is perfect for summer. Breakfast was extensive but noting to fancy and not amazing in quality. Just good enough. It is a beautiful estate and I would recommend staying there.

Review 49:That I booked a hotel room in a supposed quiet villa and when I arrive with two kids, including a 4 months baby, there is a teen party going on... the music was on, the also the voice of the teens...hopefully it did not last past 1 am but still disturbing for me and the kids until then.... therefore not recommended for family with kids... Also, breakfast very very basic...

Review 50:We only stayed for a night but managed to relax around the lovely pool and grassy area which the kids enjoyed. The family room for 4 was comfortable and spacious . The setting for breakfast was wonderful. very close to Pisa and Lucca for our day trips. Would definitely come back in the future for another visit!

Review 51:Room was very dark and the ceiling was low so we hit our heads several times. Toilet was humid with the unpleasant smell of the basement.

Review 52:Good food in the restaurant, big parking, nice swimming pool.

Review 53:To live at Hotell Cheli you need a rental care to visit Lucca and nearby areas and restaurants. The WIFI was bad, only in one public livingroom we were able to connect. The outside breakfast area was lovely.

Review 54:Villa Cheli was a very beautiful and peaceful place with friendly and helpful personell. The room was very clean and nice looking, romantic style. The food in the restaurant was very good (closed on mondays). The swimmingpool area was excellent.

Review 55:Bit noisy in the morning (thin door!). Restaurant staff disappeared before we'd finished the evening meal.

Review 56:Good big room with views of the hills. Good value fixed price dinner on the night we were there. Huge excellent breakfast.

Review 57:Nothing!

Review 58:We have just returned from a wonderful two night stay in Villa Cheli. A wonderful peaceful Villa set in the hills just outside Lucca. Perfect if you have a car. Lovely pool with beautiful countryside views. The staff were very helpful and informative and our evening meal was delicious served by a wonderful waitress. A very nice atmosphere and I hope to be back next year.

Review 59:It was noisy one of two nights that we stayed there. There was a wedding on and the reception room was just under our window and they were loud. So, if you going to stay there on a weekend, ask if there is any party going on or ask for a room in the front.

Review 60:Location is beautiful and quick drive to Pisa and Luca.

Review 61:Staff a little unwilling to help. Granted we don't know much Italian, but when our Norweigen friends spoke English the staff understood them, when we spoke English they suddenly stopped understanding. Would recommend for the facilities hut not the service.

Review 62:Beautiful hotel, fantastic facilities, great location, excellent food, lovely pool.
