Reviews for Hotel La Scaletta

Review 1:Transfer from airport to hotel didn't happen had to get a taxi.

Review 2:We came for my husbands 70th birthday to see a bit of Rome but mainly Ostia Antica. Enjoyed every minute. Walked miles lots of smiles. Hotel put complimentary wine on his birthday lovely touch.

Review 3:Smoky sent in my non-smoking room even though it was not a problem for me. Moreover staff kindly asked me if there was a problem. Please note - Fuimichino airport can be reached only by taxi.

Review 4:Excellent location on sea side, cool, calm and comfortable place. Easy to reach Rome center by public transport. Friendly and ready-to-help staff. I like everything and every moment during staying-in

Review 5:Nothing bad at all

Review 6:The staff go out of their way to be so helpful. They arranged all our transfers at discount price, with Paolo a wonderful driver. The breakfast choice was vast, the beds were soooo comfortable and they have discount agreements with the local restaurants. The placement of the hotel for everything could not be better. Thank you all so much we hope to return to investigate the area.

Review 7:bed sheets can cleaner

Review 8:lovely location, good staff service, and quick response to questions, nice location to sea and restaurants, , and resonable airport transfer

Review 9:The staff are pleasant and helpful. This was our second stay . The location, the breakfast, the location and the view makes this a hotel we will return to.

Review 10:Can't think of anything. Follow the instructions exactly when shutting the TV down or you will probably need the management to reset it for you.

Review 11:The room was well located on an upper floor for the quiet stay that we requested. No noise from outside or neighboring rooms. The bed was the most comfortable that we had slept in during 7 weeks in Italy at many different accommodations. Everything functioned. The staff are very welcoming and obliging. The breakfast offering was excellent with a great selection that should suit everybody especially vegetarians like us. The property is only 2 blocks or so from a bus stop for a short connection to Ostia Central which in turn gives you access to Roma and Ostia Antica by train and the International airport by bus.

Review 12:A man entered our room at 2:AM while we were sleeping. It seems the desk clerk gave him our room key when his key did not work in our room. Though the man was obviously confused, this was an unforgivable lack of security on the part of the hotel.

Review 13:Ocean view was delightful. Good restaurants close by. Room was small but clean and fair for the price. Great location for a short drive to the airport.

Review 14:The location isn't exactly beautiful or clean and the hotel is basic but clean. The breakfast was simple to say the least.

Review 15:The location offered a relaxed atmosphere after hectic month of travelling in Italy and an overnight stop close to the airport. The staff were very helpful and friendly and efficient.

Review 16:Staff very pleasant and helpful, room spotless. Good location on seafront, loads of restaurants just yards from the doors. Ten mins walk from Metro station, with good link to Rome every 15 mins.

Review 17:Our room and bathroom could have been a little bigger.

Review 18:Staff very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. Hotel close to area eateries and attractions.

Review 19:The hotel is right across the road from the beach and in 10 mins of the airport - if no traffic. It felt safe and clean and the staff were very easy to get along with. We wanted a rest before long plane trip home and enjoyed our stay.

Review 20:I had to pay an extra 2€ For taxes that wasn't show on booking, should be better if they show the final price

Review 21:The personal was so polite and friendly

Review 22:Excellent location, comfortable room, pretty quiet despite mad traffic outside and we were lucky with a front balcony which allowed us to take advantage of the great summer weather during our stay.

Review 23:Unfortunately our experience this time did not live up to our last stay at this hotel. We came to get a break (even with a toddler). However, the noise level throughout this stay was shocking to say the least. We stayed in a triple room with sea view. Opposite our door (we did not realise at first) was the room where the cleaning staff replenish their supplies and water etc. From 8am EVERY morning of our 5 night stay, we were woken rudely by the noise of the staff preparing their supplies AND having loud conversations. Three of the five mornings I needed to ask the staff to stop talking animatedly in the hall. We did talk with reception staff about this issue but unfortunately it was not rectified. On reflection we should have insisted further. Nevertheless we don't feel this was acceptable. The slamming of apartment doors also woke us up numerous times, alongside the ability to hear other hotel guests loudly at night. One of our five mornings at 8.45 (after being woken so loudly at first) when we came to the breakfast room there were no seats left!!A great sign for the hotel, unfortunate for us! Shame the hotel doesn't have the space to cater for all at once - not a criticism, just some advice for future guests to arrive before 8 for breakfast! When we stayed two years ago you needed to pay per hour of wifi. We were ok with this and the service was good. This time the wifi is free (great bonus). However, the service on the first floor was very poor to say the least and appeared to lose all strength after 9pm. On our last night we logged into the second floors wifi. This was better. However, this is an issue the hotel need to look at.Our total was €622 for a triple room for 5 nights with sea view. We are always more than happy to pay for great service. Unfortunately this time our memories leaving were not so positive. The bill was reduced by €22 totalling €600. To be frank for the awakenings etc we experienced, the reduction wasn't enough.

Review 24:We stayed here a couple of years ago and wrote a fantastic review! We returned and still enjoyed some of what the hotel has to offer! The aircon is excellent, the sea view was stunning, location perfect, some lovely reception staff (in particular the fab guy who lived in NYC for 20 years), lovely breakfast lady, has a lift, good overall price, great in house taxi service, free wifi, decent breakfast, fresh decor, comfortable beds.

Review 25:The internet worked only for half of the time. I had problems with card that opens the room, from time to time I had to go the reception to reconfigure it.

Review 26:Really clean and well located. The breakfast had good options.

Review 27:wifi not strong except in lobby , weekend breakfast not as great as during week with regular lady helping and making great coffees for us :) AC in our second room ( we had to move mid week bc we booked to late to get a sea view for the whole week) was noisy

Review 28:Location was excellent - room with balcony overlooking sea was great - beds great- breakfast WXCELLENT rap during the week, pick up and drop off to airport - great price and fabulous service , staff was really helpful

Review 29:Pastries and bread could have been better at breakfast. Both the croissants and bread were very ordinary.

Review 30:Hotel very central. Close to beach, airport and restaurants. A great relaxing breather before flying home.

Review 31:We had to leave... :-(

Review 32:It is underrated. We loved how warm and caring staff was from very first moment of arrival until the very last monent of departure. It was a quiet place with a great view from the balcony and beach was just a hand reach close. All the public transport is very close to the hotel which makes it very easy to get to the central Rome. We are definitely going to come back to this hotel.

Review 33:A little noisy at night because it is on the main road. Just remember to close your windows and night and that will take care of it.

Review 34:The location was amazing. Right by the pier and across from the beach. There are plenty of great places to eat around the hotel. I recommend the room with a beach view if possible. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Me and my fiancé needed help getting to Rome and sight seeing and they did a great job helping us. Also we needed directions to the nearest store for a few things and were more than happy to help.

Review 35:Small show stall, but that is very common.

Review 36:Proximity to airport without being in an industrial park. Interesting ocean view neighbourhood. Lots of restaurant options. Lots of locals come to the beach Boardwalk for an evening out. Still the hotel is quite despite the night life, clean and comfortable.

Review 37:The town itself is an absolute dump - graffiti everywhere. Didn't feel particularly safe and the hotel is marginal at best. The room smelled like urine because the bathroom smelled like urine and, We had what was supposed to be an "upgraded" room. Let's get serious. We only came here to shortcut the return trip to the airport, as we didn't want w long drive in the morning. In retrospect, being in Tuscany for another day would have been a smarter choice.... Better food, better hotel and certainly a more beautiful atmosphere. Be car full of what you wish for

Review 38:The staff was helpful.

Review 39:Hardly any. It is just the location from the FCO. It is complicated to get there at night in particular.

Review 40:The Room- we had a great sleep from a long journey. The room is clean, the daylight was completely blocked off from te automatic shutter. The bed and the restroom were clean and meet our expectation. The service- would give a 10 out of 10 with no hesitation

Review 41:We stayed at Hotel La Scaletta for two nights to recover from our overseas flight. Lido Ostia is not far from the airport and the location is perfect since the Antica ruins are located here. Great place to recover.

Review 42:Location worked out very well for us to visit Ostia Antica the following morning. Staff were extremely helpful and breakfast was amazing. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel when we went to Ostia.

Review 43:Bedroom was a little small but only a place to sleep.

Review 44:Handy to airport and shuttle to and from was efficient. Easy walk to train station to Rome and away from the bustle of the city.

Review 45:Bad, same food every morning, woman in canteen is anoying. She was walking in and out and counting how much every guest eats something.

Review 46:Friendly staff, clean, good place

Review 47:Horrible man at reception desk who told me he would help me once he was done with the other customers. The lobby was empty. I am older and have a cane. I did not appreciate this person.

Review 48:The location! Right across from the sea!

Review 49:As our other hotel in Italy this has to be valued within its price range 266 euros for 4 days, my son and I. Twenty Five minutes from Roman sites, 10 minutes from Aostia sites, was all we wanted and it was a break…not a 4 day drag to one museum after another. Beach front with all its restaurants just across the road. Staff were very friendly, and professional, rooms clean. Macdo restaurant just underneath but honestly that was not a problem as whole beach front is abuzz with traffic, joggers, chatting as Italians only can, how nice to witness. Train station about 10 minute walk. After 6 months of grey skies it suited us down to the ground. As I said about the other hotel if it is not your price or style you can always put your hand deeper in your pocket. I'd go there again for a short break.

Review 50:The staff was incredibly kind and helpful! They told us how to get where we wanted to go for the best price. They gave us maps and a guide book. They set up our airport transportation for the next day. And they even opened up the breakfast bar early for us since they knew we had to leave earlier. I would highly recommend staying here!

Review 51:Would suggest some updating and refreshing: sheets and towels, hair dryer.

Review 52:It is a more interesting place to overnight before a flight than the std airport hotels with shops, restaurants and beach. Ostia Antica is a short drive away. The room had a nice view over the lido and the sea. Good value.

Review 53:The hotel is located on the coast, only about 20-25 min by train from Rome. It's also located near Ostia Antica - a large archeological site ( entry 8EUR, recommended to visit). The staff was very nice and helpfull (all English speaking). Rooms comfortable and clean with very good WiFi, good breakfast. Parking available on the street in front of the hotel ( I bet it gets very busy in spring and summer months.....).

Review 54:I did not like the area. Perhaps it was because the time of year. I went in feburary, so the Ostia town was not very clean and the sea side was just as bad. But the hotel was great!! I could not fault the hotel.

Review 55:Very clean, cosy, warm, friendly staff etc.

Review 56:We did not have anything that we did not like, but in high season it may be difficult to find parking and the rates would be higher than our fabulous discount.

Review 57:We were in off season so our review may be biased due to the fabulous off season discount. The location was ideal on the beachfront boulevard and next door to the shopping promenade and centre of the restaurants and only a short walk to the metro to Rome. The service was very friendly and excellent. The breakfast was very good with a wide variety. We were able to park on the street right in front but this is probably a problem in high season. The room was small but efficient and clean.

Review 58:The breakfast buffet was very good value. I liked the central location, within easy reach of a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants. The hotel was also a short walk from the railway station which I used daily to commute into central Rome to see the sites.

Review 59:friendliness of staff, the rooms are exceptionally clean. Very good breakfast. Walking distance to train station and close to Airport. Lido di Ostia is an ideal place to stay to visit 'old Rome' and the sights

Review 60:Only one small bridge between Ostia and Fiumicino!!! Slow in heavy traffic.

Review 61:Nice location. Good size room, plus balcony. Good breakfast. Nice staff.close to station.very clean.

Review 62:An awful MC Donalds door to door. It would be better an italian pizzeria. But - positive - the awful smell don't enter in the hotel rooms, as the Mc do waste are well canalized far away.

Review 63:excellent position in the very center of Ostia on the water front. Good pub, restaurant and shopping facilities in the surroundings. 10 minutes on foot to metro station to Roma. Excellent free Wi-Fi. Enough good the breakfast. Very helpful staff.

Review 64:The room with balcony and sea view is a bit small, and lack in sockets. The window did not close properly . It got almost open during the windy night.

Review 65:the best of the room was the balcony with a great view. Our 2-nights stay was to relax after a month trip. It was just that we expected. Clean and quiet. The breakfast was very good with fruit, yogurt and sweets.

Review 66:Its a remarkable stay with many restaurants around the corner. Best was the pier. The staff were generous in their time in helping and assisting people. A remarkable spot to have a few days away.

Review 67:Very helpful and friendly stuff. Great location very close to the sea and to the train station. We went to Ostia just because it is close to the airport, but in fact it is the great place to spend holidays.

Review 68:This hotel provided a comfortable place to call home for a night. Right in the center of town, on the ocean, friendly staff, free wi-fi and breakfast... what more can you ask for??

Review 69:was very loud, parking was an issue but is good if you are into young activity all night long. seasonal i suppose

Review 70:Staff was kind, room fine, breakfast typical for Rome but good.

Review 71:No Complaints at all

Review 72:THE STAFF! They were awesome. We were only able to stay one night at the end of our trip - the staff advised us on how to return our rental car - gave directions - helped us organize a shuttle to the airport early in the morning - opened the breakfast room early for us so we were able to have breakfast before we left. They were wonderful - wish we could have stayed longer - if we are able to return to Italy we will go back and spend a few days for sure.

Review 73:the staff was very helpful and considerate. they went out of their way to help us access the room, made sure we understood how to use the facilities, went the extra to provide the breakfast early so we could leave for the airport with enough time to clear Rome's traffic and the airport customs. they also provided a van to take us to the airport at little cost. (7.5 euros each)

Review 74:Room couldn't have been any smaller. Obviously there are larger rooms with balconies. Ask for one of those.

Review 75:Friendly and helpful reception. Clean, comfortable, modern room. Great location across from beach, 10-15 minute walk from Lido Central Station.

Review 76:room slightly small, no armchair. traffic noise at night

Review 77:Staff always smiling and very helpful. Comfy bed, airco, nice breakfast, good wifi reception. Definitely a place to remember and to return to.

Review 78:No taxi available at the train station as we arrived late in the evening. Unbelievably two very friendly local ladies drove us to the hotel having asked them for directions!

Review 79:The staff were friendly and very helpful prior to and during our 8 day stay. The standard of cleanliness if the hotel is excellent. Our room was comfortable, highly recommend opting for the sea view. The hotel is approx. ten mins walk from the train station. It is very easy to commute to Rome centre via the train/metro network the weekly ticket for 24 euro pp is excellent value as it is an integrated system covering bus tram and train -very convenient. Be sure to take the train two stops to Ostia Antica for a fascinating visit to the ancient ruins. Ostia is a lovely beachside town with lots of nice restaurants and La Scaletta hotel is centrally located directly facing the beach. We will definitely return if visiting Rome again in the future, so much better than staying in the city!

Review 80:wi fi was not consistent-had a hard time getting a connection and keeping it. If I had been there longer and needed to be in touch for business, it would have been a problem

Review 81:The hotel adjoins a sea front road, which didn't disturb us until about 6 with road sweepers and the like.

Review 82:It is by the sea, which for the Italians is a bit built up with private spas, though the public promenade/jetty is just in front of the hotel. There is always something happening

Review 83:Location was excellent with McDonalds just next to the hotel. Good beaches and area around the hotel. There is an easy connection to the Rome center via train station which is 10 minutes walk from the hotel. Wi-fi worked great in our room and staff speaks excellent English.

Review 84:Nothing!

Review 85:Being able to spend a relaxing night at a beachside resort area before starting a long flight home was the best part of our stay. Wish we would have booked a couple more nights! The proximity to the airport is great! The room was small but very clean and the beds, alrhough small, were the most comfortable we had slept on during our 2 weeks of road travel in Italy! Bonus was the balcony! Thanks to the staff who were very friendly and helpful with the Wifi set up etc.

Review 86:People at front desk spoke English and were able to make suggestions. I left for airport at 4:00 in morning and there was no shuttle operating. Coming to the hotel from the airport the Taxi driver charged me 40 euros. He called the taxi service and I was aware the fare should only be 30 euros.

Review 87:Having to leave for home.

Review 88:Every staff member was cheerful and efficient. So glad we opted for a sea veiw..it was great to sit on the balcony with a drink and watch all the action.Men fishing off the pier, kites flying even fireworks!! Places from coffee shops, MacDonalds and a Steak house to elegant beach side restaurants

Review 89:We selected this hotel for a one night transit for the airport based onrelTive good price for one night 88 euros based on airport shuttleservice. None exist officially so we paid 30 euros to get there for thenight and they arranged for a paying one of 15 euros to get us back withother people from other hotel. If you plan to use for one night astransfer for the airport, this is not a good option. If you plan to getto the beach for a few days, then it's all right . The advertisementof the hotel of this shuttle with beach location was the reason webooked there. This is false information

Review 90:Nice people

Review 91:Месторасположение у дороги создаёт достаточно много шума, на ночь окно не открыть, будет шумно. Маленькая душевая кабина. Location near the road creates a lot of noise at night and the window does not open, will be noisy. Small shower.

Review 92:Приветливый персонал, отзывчивый. Хороший стандартный завтрак. Ежедневная уборка, чистый, удобный номер, кондиционер. Friendly staff, responsive. Good standard breakfast. Daily cleaning, clean, comfortable room, air conditioning

Review 93:I would recommend that they make it more clear on the website which rooms have a balcony as there was a bit of confusion when we booked. The staff solved it and we managed to change rooms the next day but it would be easier to define this better on the website. The room we had (nr. 109) has a great big balcony which compensated for the relatively small room. The beds are also on the small side.

Review 94:All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Especially Davide at the reception was exeptionally helpful. The location is good, close to bars and restuarants. It's only a ten minute walk to the station where you have easy access to the centre of Rome with the train. It takes about 40 minutes and only costs 1,50 euro so ideal for a day out in the city. Across the road, the beach has alot of facilities although you have to pay 17,00 euro for a parasol and two loungers, even with the discount card from the hotel. The breakfast is simple and sufficient with a choice of cheese, meats and cakes etc. All in all a very nice and comfortable hotel.

Review 95:The room was lovely with seaview and balcony. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel is situated in the middle of the promenade with restaurants and shops all nearby. Parking is on the street and we had no problem parking. Breakfast was typically Italian and perfectly adequate.

Review 96:Showers are sooooo small but I have come to realise that most European hotel showers are small.

Review 97:Reception Staff were friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff were always smiling and friendly.Breakfasts had a good variety. The breakfast waitress was very welcoming and made the best cappuccinos. The hotel had a great location across the road from the beach and was really close to some great restaurants. Our room had a great view of the beach and was great for people watching at " promenade" time in the afternoon.Rooms were clean and the bed was comfy.

Review 98:The hotel staff were outstanding - extremely helpful in organising transport from/to the airport; in recommending restaurants and nearby amenities and overall friendliness.

Review 99:I left the Hotel yesterday with a good experience. The personnel is very friendly, they help you with every question and/or request and their English is good. Breakfast was also good, and the rooms are cleaned daily.

Review 100:The view from the balcony was beautiful although the noise from the street made it impossible to sleep with the balcony doors open. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 101:Wifi was poor in evening time but fine in morning.

Review 102:Great location staff very friendly with good English very helpful. Rooms very comfortable with air conditioning. Would recommend this hotel

Review 103:Water pressure in the shower is very low, so it takes you 20 minutes to make sure you have washed off the shampoo. The pier in front of the Hotel is rather crowded in the evening, so keep that in mind if you prefer a quiet accomodation.

Review 104:Convinient location, friendly and helpfull reception. We had a room with a sea view and a balcony, it was not very big but had all the needed stuff.

Review 105:Food is not good. Fruits and cakes are not fresh

Review 106:Great staff. Very helpful. Good location near the beach, but may be noisy from thursday to monday (disco)

Review 107:we had trouble with the wifi since a user log-in was required and we had to ask for new user log-ins many times. also the breakfast was quite small and included mostly sweet things.

Review 108:staff, close to the beach, cleaning was perfect, balcony was spacious.

Review 109:We stayed here as a last night before grabbing flights from FCO, and it was lovely. There's street parking that's free for those with rental cars (like us), and the rooms were nice. There's a pool we didn't get to try, and we even had a balcony, making me wish we had more time here. Great location, so that we could dip our feet in the sea one last time. Plenty of places to eat nearby. We left too early to try breakfast, but the staff was all very helpful and polite, and advised us about getting to the airport and such. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. We had three rooms for our group, and no one had complaints that I can recall.

Review 110:Excellent location and very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 111:kindness. We told the receptionist that we'd leave at 4.30 a.m. and very kindly at that time the breakfast was ready just for us :-)

Review 112:Location & staff behavior ness

Review 113:Not so clean. Very soft mattress.

Review 114:Good location. Helpfull staff.

Review 115:Wonderful location - near the Atlantic coast. Beautiful clean and modern room!

Review 116:Horrible name calling by staff, street noise

Review 117:Sea view, breakfast, helpful staff

Review 118:The rooms are pretty small and the hotel is above mcdonalds so its a little noisy

Review 119:The location is great just next to the beach

Review 120:The shuttle wasn't working so we required a taxi

Review 121:Great staff, breakfast, across from the beach

Review 122:Small room.

Review 123:Very clean, close to beach, friendly staff, good breakfast.
