Reviews for Tenuta Il Casale di San Miniato

Review 1:First of all, don't order breakfast and dinner also. The dinner was not very good and it was 25€ per person and I have to say that it was the worst dinner experience in our Italy trip. Breakfast consisted of dry bread with butter and jelly. Only the coffee was good. The rooms had dust here and there and when walking in they had a bad smell, that luckily went away. It all felt like a really great and grand place was deserted.

Review 2:The pool was nice, big and with a very great view. The view was excellent everywhere, the location was great. When you get this hotel for reasonable price, you can take it, just with no food!! San Miniato is an excellent town, which is near the hotel, with an awesome fort and nice people. The town is definitely worth a visit. And if you are interested in vine yards, we visited an excellent place called Agrisole SSA - the service in there was awesome!

Review 3:Getting there require a bit of off-roading (unpaved road, not exactly off-roading) which might not be for everyone, speically at night if you are not used to it. Tips: don't just follow you GPS, there are two roads going from paved roads. (one is short and easy, one is long and more diffiuclt (but still drivable). If at the time when the GPS points you to an unpaved road and you couldn't see the sign of the 'hotel' at that junction, do not go on that road and get the GPS to find you the other unpaved roads.

Review 4:1. Price, very good value for the money. 2. Rooms are clean, well decorated and well furnished in old tuscan country style. Very efficient heating and hot water shower. All apartments has gas stove and fridge, so, self-catering is possible if you prefer or are staying for long time. 3. The food - If you are staying there, I would recommend you to eat at least once in their restaurant and go for their tasting menu, best pasta we've had during our 10 day in Italy. (We are foodies from Hong Kong and have had pasta everyday during our the trip). We ate there the two nights we stayed (partly due to the reason stated in 'what didn't like'). the 2nd night we are lucky that they have the white truffle menu and needness to say, it was one of the greatest meal of my life!

Review 5:Pool was unheated so it was a little chilly after a couple weeks of rain and little sun.

Review 6:We loved the villa apartments, a great set up for families. The owner and his wife were wonderful. The onsite restaurant was nice but a little expensive. The owner also grows and produces his own wine, olive oil, and honey which were all very good. Beautiful scenery and location. The local town (San Miniato) was lovely as well.

The Fine Print

The restaurant is open daily at dinner time, while it is only open upon request at lunch time.
