Reviews for Albergo Celide

Review 1:The massage was very good.

Review 2:The room was a bit small, but the staff were very helpful when we had a flat tyre. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed, but the café provided excellent lunches.

Review 3:Noisey dog barking all night... not a hotel dog mind you but a neighbours dog.

Review 4:The location to the city centre was great and the hotel has bikes for guests which was a great way to cycle around the city walls.

Review 5:the breakfast is very basic, no hot dishes, sometimes the room is overrun and staff hard to find; and heating must be free in Lucca because the hotel is always over 80F

Review 6:Very nice hotel, great parking in back, knowledgeable and helpful staff, just a short walk to the old walls of Lucca, on a busy street but quiet in the rooms

Review 7:Layout of our room was a bit strange. We had to walk up a few steps to go to the bathroom. Room was not very sound-proof, we could hear people talk in the corridor.

Review 8:Location, restaurant next door. Strong wifi. Both masseuses did a good job.

Review 9:Staff wasnt always helpful. Not all of the folks at the front desk gave recommendations on neat places to see. They seemed annoyed when we asked.

Review 10:Location was good and it was a good value. Free parking.

Review 11:The room is a bit uncomfortable and the street noise is rather disturbing despite the fact the the room is already facing a side road.

Review 12:The spa facilities are very good and comfortable. The staff at the spa facilities are very friendly and professional.

Review 13:For an expensive hotel I would expect a few English TV channels. Also at least a moderate room service menu, there was zero room service.

Review 14:Service and Hotel was very nice. Breakfast was simple but functional.

Review 15:Although it wasn't inside the wall, the hotel was very close to one of the entrances. We enjoyed the complimentary bikes and we were eager to get out on them after a quick check in. Our accommodations were comfortable and quiet, and the room was very clean.

Review 16:We had to call down to get the fan working. Room was warm. We could hear the water running when the people in the room upstairs from us used their bathroom.

Review 17:The spa package that was included in the price I paid was a nice touch after travelling. We didn't have breakfast so can't comment. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean.

Review 18:Perfect location, helpful staff, comfortable and large room. Love riding bikes (provided by hotel) in and around Lucca eat a hameburger walking along the walls.

Review 19:On our next to last day in Italy, we decided at the last minute to make a side trip to Lucca, before heading back to Milan and our flight home. The reservation at Albergo Celide was also made at the last minute. When we arrived we were quite impressed by the location of the hotel (right across the street from the walled city), the pleasant and helpful staff, and the clean, comfortable room. We couldn't have asked for anything better and felt that our stay was an excellent value for the money. We also enjoyed the bikes for a ride around the ramparts.

Review 20:There are large and small double rooms. The small ones do not have enough space to put away a second luggage case. So you have to climb round it.

Review 21:Very good location just a stone's throw outside the city walls

Review 22:Alberto Celide is a classic and solid hotel located literally steps outside the old walled city and minutes from public transportation. Breakfast was sumptuous and the room was spacious. Travelers looking for the conveniences of a modern, beautifully renovated hotel in a great location should consider Albergo Celide.

Review 23:I thought this place was fantastic!!

Review 24:The location was perfect. Right outside the walls of Lucca so it was a bit quieter but very easy to walk in and out of the city. The room was clean and nice. The staff was excellent.

Review 25:We were very happy with our Superior double room. Large bed with nicely laundered linen. Well designed layout, plenty of wardrobe space and mirrors and great double shower. Restaurant meal excellent. Easy 30 min drive from Pisa airport.

Review 26:Bedrooms & bathrooms Recommendedare a little on the small side

Review 27:Good quality hotel situated just outside the walled city. Easy to access by car with excellent free parking. 5-10 minute walk to main attractions inside the old city.

Review 28:It's a small thing but a shelf in the shower would really help hold the soap and shampoo.

Review 29:Beautiful facility with a very helpful and friendly staff.

Review 30:Staff should have let us know how much it cost to get laundary done. I could have bought a new wardrobe with that cost!!

Review 31:Very close to the walled town. Loved that the hotel has bikes which we used the whole time we were there.

Review 32:The location was a short walk from train station and Lucca Old Town. The hotel provides extras: bikes and/or umbrellas. Their breakfast was a beautiful and plentiful buffet.

Review 33:Superior room small and dark, restaurant pricey and a bit of a hike to the centre of Lucca. Wifi patchy

Review 34:Well appointed, good breakfast, easy parking. Nice terrace

Review 35:The bathroom might have been used as share as it had a door access to common hallway. We were not told and had to remember to lock thae door.

Review 36:Excellent Location in old centre. Decor good old Italian to complement the old building but without the wornout tired look. Big room and good breakfast.

Review 37:It was great to have bikes to borrow to easily go into the old town and explore. Spa was also a nice treat for a dull day. Staff were friendly and helpful

Review 38:Front desk where marvolous. Friendly and helpful. Especially trying to help us when our train was cancelled due to a strike. Would absolutely stay here again.

Review 39:The location is outside the old city wall. Even though it is only about 3 blocks to the entry point, it is too far to be convenient, especially after sightseeing within the walls. Also the walk from the city gate to the hotel is not pleasant.

Review 40:New, well appointed hotel. Easy to find with free parking. Has a spa (sauna, steam room, jaccuzzi)-- if you are into that.

Review 41:'De-luxe Double' was a smaller than expected with no bath and a restricted view of the side of the hotel. Hotel is on the main street and makes the most of the space it has but it is not as large and luxury as made out.

Review 42:Location, Spa, Bicycles, Service

Review 43:The rooms are a little small & dark for the price but I think that negative is outweighed by the great location.

Review 44:The location of this hotel is perfect, just across the road from the entrance to the walled town. The free bike hire is great & we took bikes in the evening to cycle around the walls of the old town & go for dinner. A cycle around the walled town is a must! The breakfast is also very nice at hotel Celide. We've stayed at hotel Celide on two separate occasions and will definitely be back. It's very accessible to/from Pisa airport too. We drove into see the leaning tower on one evening when it was nice & quiet & the crowds had reduced. We also had an early flight back to Dublin on both occasions and we were at the airport to return our hire car within half an hour.

Review 45:Staff so helpful in arranging trips and advising on how to get around and best ways to do it, nothing was to much trouble to them. Breakfast was fantastic so fresh every day with great choices in everything and even right up o 10 'o'clock which was finishing time

Review 46:Room cleaner, forgot towels, did not replenish tes & coffee facilities twice had to ask at reception for milk.Passageway blocked by trolleys and bedding.

Review 47:Warm freindly reception staff, always Ready to help.

Review 48:Restaurant was closed (annual holidays).

Review 49:Well located outside the walls of Luca but within walking distance. Free use of bikes - brilliant. Very good reception staff, helpful, efficient and happy. Car Parking next to hotel. Nice breakfast, plenty of choice and fresh.

Review 50:There is nothing not to like at this hotel

Review 51:All facilities were wonderful and the rooms were beautifully maintained giving a very luxurious stay. The breakfast was a pure delight with a huge range of top quality produce. All the staff were very professional and courteous and knew everything about the area with excellent recommendations from where to visit to the best restaurants. We can't wait to visit again

Review 52:Some of the evening front desk personnel felt as though they were just'doin' my job'. Other staff were very attentive and on a parwith the spa staff.

Review 53:The massage. The head masseuse gave me one of the best massages of mylife (unfortunately I forgot her name). For about 45 euro I got a 1 hourmassage that included 'intuitive massage' which felt like acombination of shiatsu and cranio-sacral. That was in addition to thestandard 40 minute massage that I had requested. Omg, no wonder I lovedLucca so much :)

Review 54:the double room was nice with respect to the furniture but the room (number about 80, this floor) was really tiny, dark and narrow amd a the air was not fresh

Review 55:breakfast, friendly and good reception staff, nice lobby and hotel with lounges

Review 56:Breakfast was badly laid out. The tables were too close to the buffet table and people couldn't get past.

Review 57:Loved being able to take the bikes that the hotel provides.

Review 58:Room clean could have been at bit earlier on our 2nd day . Generally it was o,

Review 59:the staff were great products in bathroom really nice . Great location to Luca

Review 60:The bedroom was far too small. It was very obviously smaller than the picture on your website which was attached to my booking. When I showed manager they explained that we could move to larger room but only if we paid extra. In the end we had to put suitcase on bed to get a change of clothes and then repack so we could get roun the bed to the bathroom.

Review 61:Parking

Review 62:No negatives.

Review 63:Great hotel in an excellent location. Easy access from the train station and to the town of Lucca . The bike availability was fantastic as the ride in the town and on the ramparts was terrific. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was modern and clean. The buffet breakfast was great! Definitely would recommend this hotel. Lucia is also a must especially with the music festival. We saw Lauren Hill.

Review 64:Water power in the shower enclosure

Review 65:Staff were very welcoming. Spa is well equipped. Breakfast is first class. Restaurant and café next door are superb. Quiet rooms. Ideal location.

Review 66:The breakfast was excellent as was the staff and service. The fact that we could just borrow some bikes to explore Lucca made our stay unforgettable for us and the kids.

Review 67:There was work outside the city wall area during our stay so the nearest entrance to the city was fenced off. We had to walk for about 3 minutes along the busy ring road to get into an alternative city gate.

Review 68:Modern comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast, free bike hire included in the room price

Review 69:Superb breakfast selection, worthy of a 5* hotel. possibility of borrowing bicycles to explore the town of Lucca (though we did not use because it was quite hot and we were pressed for time). The location is excellent in that one can easily access the hotel and quickly leave the city. also to note the very good provision of bedding for our dog, as well as feeding and drinking bowl.

Review 70:I have no complaints about our experience at Albergo Celide!

Review 71:Lovely, varied breakfast. Comfortable room. Lovely clean bathroom. Very cute spa attached with complimentary spa kit. Air conditioning! Friendly staff. Great location within walking distance of the city centre and free bike hire too.

Review 72:It's a very nice environment, comfortable and extremely well located. The parking area, rare in small Italian cities, is another pleasant feature. We strongly recommend.

Review 73:The staff were very helpful and friendly. The reception staff went beyond the call of duty when we needed help with health issue, Thanks to all. The breakfast was lovely and a great selection available each day. The cafe on the corner served coffee and lunches, again the food and staff were good.

Review 74:No complaints at all

Review 75:The staff went out of their way to assist us, booking restaurants, helping with train timetables and with our Italian. Highly recommended

Review 76:having to cross the very busy roads from the hotel

Review 77:Attentive / helpful staff , private parking , good breakfasts , clean , smart looking hotel just outside the main wall of Lucca . Spa facilities for those who like to be pampered Good restaurant adjacent , but plenty of lovely places to eat locally .

Review 78:The architecture of the hotel is not attractive or memorable.

Review 79:Location for Lucca walled city was very good, staff helpful and friendly, cycle lending a nice touch.

Review 80:Very small room for the price, very uncomfortable and small bed. Towels only for 1 person. And walls were paper thin so we could hear the neighbours talking all night. Restless

Review 81:Can't think of a thing!

Review 82:Spacious room, great bathroom and large bed, very nice especially in comparison with average Italian rooms. Free push bikes were fatastic for getting around the old city. Great free breakfast with plenty of choice.

Review 83:Close to Porta ELISA into the old town. Very friendly helpful staff led by the manager, Lucca. Really enjoyed the free bikes and the well being centre. Excellent breakfast

Review 84:The manager and staff provided excellent service. The hotel is beautifully designed. Rooms are fantastic.Food is such a gourmet standard. We cannot fault this amazing hotel.

Review 85:Wifi did not always work in our room - had to go to the lobby to get a signal.

Review 86:Perfect location - right outside the city walls, free parking, good breakfast.

Review 87:Great location just outside the walls of one of our favourite cities. On site parking and, for Italy, a very good breakfast. Staff very helpful and attentive

Review 88:Internet did not work in the room but there was lots of room in the lobby.

Review 89:Modern, clean, quiet, friendly, comfortable, helpful staff, free bikes, good location, free parking, great breakfast. Ver nice experience

Review 90:Very good location, Very pleasant Hotel with good facilities for touring Lucca and this part of Toscana. Very friendly and helpful staff. Enjoyed very much the town.

Review 91:Everything about our stay here was fabulous. Location was ideal, beds were extremely comfortable, wifi was very fast and the breakfast was delicious. Every member of staff was helpful and friendly.

Review 92:Nothing really - only thing I can think of is that the décor was a bit inconsistent No views Some road noise at the front None of these points were a problem for us

Review 93:Location - close but not inside old town Comfort Quiet Friendly staff Bike loan Spa facilities Railway station a 10 minute walk away

Review 94:Bedroom layout a bit strange/dark and beds very short. We often had to ask for things to be replenished (ie at breakfast or in the room) and also we booked to use the spa facilities but the steam room wasnt turned on when we arrived so that took another 20 mins.

Review 95:Reception day staff were fabulous - helpful and knowledgeable. Facilities were good - lovely terrace and lounge. New spa facilities.

Review 96:everything about this hotel was excellent, I normally never write reviews but for this one I had to. It was our second anniversary and they made us feel special. The spa is better than 5* , it's worth the money!

Review 97:The bed wasn't quite right but good enough, and a little bit of noise from outside during the day.

Review 98:The location was very good and the staff very pleasant and helpful.

Review 99:Loved the room, the spa, the breakfast, its fish restaurant, its staff. Close to the city gates and with bicycles to borrow. We enjoyed 6 nights in this lovely hotel.

Review 100:The rooms are very basic and the beds are fine but not especially comfortable, but certainly neither of these facts should keep you from enjoying your stay.

Review 101:This was my second stay and I loved it both times. I love the location just outside the walls--it feels like stepping through time when you enter and leave. I love that there are bikes to borrow for a ride atop the walls. The staff is welcoming. Just a great hotel.

Review 102:Hotel is next to residential properties, and one family had 5 dogs so when they start barking it gets a bit noisy, so the windows had to stay shut. The maid seemed to have a mind of her own, sometimes she left the right amount of towels/coffee/milk and other times, well who knows.

Review 103:Hotel was near the station, no Taxi required, the rooms although small were very clean and tidy. Breakfast was good.

Review 104:I booked two double rooms for 4 nights and mine was very small despite the premium price paid. No internet in the room, and this was not resolved during my stay.

Review 105:I was on a mini break with family and the hotel was close to the center of Lucca. The breakfast was good and the next door restaurant was excelent!

Review 106:The room was overpriced: we found 150€ for an old, small room without any view or any extras too much. It looked better on the photos.

Review 107:Convenient location, good variety in breakfast

Review 108:Nothing really. Maybe the room is slightly small and dated. But still clean and comfortable.

Review 109:Location, free bicycle and wifi service. Staff are friendly and welcoming.

Review 110:Very helpful staff. Dinner at their restaurant next door was amazing! Had a lovely in house massage, they come to your room and get you and take you to the spa. You must have a bathing suit to enter spa area/hot tub as they allow children/family in.

Review 111:We had some very noisy and rude neighboors across the hole and we had to change the room at midnight because of the noise they made

Review 112:Very good breakfast and the design of the hotel as general

Review 113:The beds were too firm.

Review 114:The hotel staff were very helpful & friendly. Location excellent, close entry into old Lucca, walking distance to a laundromat, free bike use, clean & secure parking. Interconnecting room, great with kids.

Review 115:Breakfast offering was a little weak and service was slow.

Review 116:Nice hotel which I had stayed at before. Good location and easy to drive to being just outside the city wall.

Review 117:Wifi coverage wasn't great and kept flicking on and off in the room, was oka in reception areas.

Review 118:Was across from the inner part of Lucca with a car park which suited us, spa facilities were nice and relaxing and all facilities generally good. Seafood restaurant part of the hotel was very good but you should share a dish between 2....

Review 119:Lucca is such a beautiful city to visit, the location was perfect, the hotel was outside the wall but a very short walk/bike ride to the shops, wonderful restaurants and sites. The best thing about this hotel were the spa treatments I received from Ilka. She was amazing and I would recommend if you were to stay here to book in for a treatment with her. All in all, a lovely hotel.

Review 120:The length of the bed for tall people. The room was lovely apart from this.

Review 121:The location ( 10 minutes from the railway station and opposite the City walls), the bicycles, the welcome, the helpful guidance on places to visit, given by a gentleman on reception. Really enjoyed the breakfasts.

Review 122:The rooms were disappointingly small. The first one we had was like the architects did everything they could to squeeze in one last room into the hotel! However, when we said we were not happy with it, they immediately moved us to a slightly bigger and brighter room. Still small but a step up.

Review 123:The restaurant - the food was amazing! The spa facilities were very well finished and very relaxing. The little touches such as brollys for the rain, and free bikes were appreciated and the staff were pleasant and help.

Review 124:No English speaking TV channels

Review 125:Free Wifi in room Free use of Bikes English speaking staff Very friendly helpful staff Great location opposite walled city handy to railway station

Review 126:Location to walled city was excellent Bike hire was free which was great Great restaurants relaxing and beautiful Lucca Helpful people all around Lovely escape holiday
