Review 1：Great place to stay just outside (across the road from) the walls of the old town. Right beside the train station too but unexpectedly quiet and lovely view. Clean spacious room, would definitely recommend

Review 2：This was my fourth stay at the Hotel Rex. Being a train traveler, this is the most convenient location, and it is a very nice hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful, good breakfast, and it was one of the few hotels that I stayed in this trip, that has a computer for guest usage. The great walled city is right across the street, will stay there again. One of my top value restaurants in Tuscany, is Da Giulio.

Review 8：Extremely nice, pleasant and fairly small family-run hotel. The location is very good - just outside the walls of old city center and very close to the train station. In most cities a location close to the train station is not always that good but in Lucca don´t worry - good location with nice atmosphere. The staff is amazing service oriented and it was always very fun talking to them. They assisted with a restaurant reservation at the "Ristorante Pizzeria Da Francesco" - fantastic food - located a few minute walk from the hotel. Guess we were the only tourists on the restaurant - very good recommendation from the hotel. The staff also offered a parking place, for our minibus, just outside the entrance free of charge. Very good buffet breakfast! Nicely furnished rooms in old style but still with very good quality. Also good wi-fi connection in every room. Would definitely recommend this hotel! Hotel Rex will be my next choice upon return to Lucca.

Review 10：The hotel is located near the train station which was excellent for us as we had based our holiday plans around using the train to travel around. Situated just outside the city walls so easy to walk to. There was no train noise however. Our room was a generous size with a comfortable firm bed and good bathroom. The staff were wonderful and were very helpful with all our enquiries.

Review 14：From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome, all the staff were superb. The hotel is just a 5 min walk to one of the main entrances to Lucca. I have a mobility scooter and it was no trouble anywhere in the Hotel and access to Lucca itself was very good. The buffet breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice. We stayed a week at Hotel Rex, and would fully recommend it for a relaxing stay in a lovely old town and to see the surrounding sites.

Review 15：The owners and staff were brilliant, very friendly and helpful, great breakfast, sat outside in the evenings having wine and tea/coffee, really cheap. 2 minutes from the station and 4 minutes from the city walls. were told of 2 restaurants that the locals go to, great food and very reasonable. A fantastic hotel in a great location outside the most beautiful and interesting of towns.

Valentina allowed us to reserve a very quiet room when we had been tortured by midnight talks in the mid age town and then we had four happy days playing at Lucca and surrounding towns. 50 meters to the train station, Ideal for visiting Nearby cities. Good breakfast. Although a little dated, very carefully equipped with all necessary facilities and well maintained. Lovely people. Definitely come back again!

Review 27：The room was spacious with good air conditioning. What made the stay so lovely was the attentiveness given by all the staff. They all work hard and are always smiling which made the experience extra special. This is one of the best hotel stays I have ever had and there have been many before.

Review 45：Hotel Rex has provided us with an excellent stay, in fact it has probably been the best experience we have had in three weeks of moving around Italy. Customer service is exceptional. They helped us out with a mistake I had made with the booking. The location is excellent, just as described. Very close to the train and the walled city. The bikes were easily available to us and in good shape. Breakfast was great. It included meat, cheese, muffins, yogurt, eggs, lots of fruit and all of the other foods you would expect to see. Thank you for giving us such a positive experience in your beautiful city.

Review 49：Location can't be beat. Valentina, Daniella, Pietro and Giovanni (99 YEARS OLD) make you feel like family. The rooms are large and comfortable, breakfast is plentiful, the bikes are free, English is spoken at checkin, and the rate is Always right. Best of all, just steps to comfort when you leave the train. This was our third visit and won't be our last.

Review 54：The rooms are small even for Italy and need some updating. The bath room shower was right near the sink with about 10 inches between the sink and the shower door. It was tight. Nothing major was wrong with the hotel just a few minor issues.

Review 55：The location of the hotel is excellent. It is near the train station and near a major gate entering the walled city of Lucca. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The night clerk speaks very good English and all of the staff makes a sincere effort to understand their guests and provide excellent service. Breakfast was more than adequate. Each morning we asked for cappuchino and received it quickly - full strength and wonderful foaming milk. We spent four nights there and would do it again.

Review 57：The family who manage this hotel are like your own, warm and helpful. Giovanni, Danela and Valentina. This hotel is perfect for anyone driving or arriving by train. Minutes from the wall. It is right next to the train station but we never heard a train.

Review 65：Have just had a great holiday in Lucca staying at the Hotel Rex. Very convenient location near to the town wall and railway station.. Rooms were very clean and spacious but the staff make it outstanding.. Nothing was too much trouble for them. There were seven in our party and Pietro at reception was brilliant at recommending and even booking restaurants. Valentina went to no end of trouble organising trips for us and finding out information. I have taken parties abroad for the last ten years and this is the most helpful and friendly hotel we have ever stayed at.

The location was a few yards away from the railway station and Lucca walled town a mere 5 minutes away. Parking outside was limited but even in August we managed to find a space every day.

I left a jacket on a bus and they tracked it down for me. The room was air conditioned a necessity for July and of a good size. The breakfast choice was excellent with a wide range of items on offer, my partner is vegetarian and she loved the fruit and patries on offer.

Breakfast was very good value for the price (including excellent local prosciutto, also good fresh juice). Perfect location, close to the historical center and the station, but quiet. Rooms have the old fashioned charm, yet are comfortable, spacious and perfectly functional.
