Reviews for Ophir Hotel

Review 1:When I reached the so'' called hotel'',I didn't findanybody at the reception. Amazingly, somebody, from the street, called meand asked me if I''have come to the hotel and if I have areservation?;; So I answered ,yes, and he told me to wait .Nearly, quarter of an hour til he came to attend me. Now, my biggest surpriseis that ,reaching the room,I tried to put on the tv, surprise....tv notworking ,looking for the kettle for some coffee,,,,oho..surprise,,nokettle,,.anyway tried to take a shower...no shower curtain and only twotowels ...no bath mat...the disgusting of all is that ,when I tried tocall to the reception .......surprise????No telephone in the room.??????And later, when I went to the reception to complain. The answer was that''what can I DO',meaning you are screwed and you paid forbeing screwed. ''After all only a desaster and worse time tostart the new year...NOW Tell me ,please, do you check these places, before dealing with THEMM?..Becuse, I am thinking to send a letter withpicure of the hotel premises to the ''ministry oftourism'' because I feel cheated and robbed by you or the hotel.Anyway ,thanks ..........I am very doubthful to use your services in thefuture??????

Review 2:Sorry, there is nothing to like aboutNearly . I am ,myself , a''hotelier'' with a lot of experiences and knpwledge in thisfield.''This hotel is not worth to be called ,even a motel., Andfurthermore ,the entrance ,looks like a'' bordel''.

Review 3:We came to the hotel they charge us more then was in the deal, we payed $50 more! Staff smoked all time in the hotel. Even during the breakfast. Which was really poor quality. Dirty and moldy bathroom and the room. Bathroom facilities were damaged. They don't cleaned the room. We have to asked for the toilet paper and hair dryer. Was no possible to close the window - cold, noise from the main street all the time. Staff was shouting at each other early in the morning. No one obeyed curfews.

Review 4:In the city centre. Great location.

Review 5:The room was very dusty & looked like it had not been cleaned for weeks ! They did not change the bedding over the two nights ! The bathroom had no air ventilation so...Mould was everywhere !! No batteries within the remote TV`S & WORST OF ALL we were in a room overlooking the main "T Junction " of a main road with 24 hour traffic ( Very heavy / noisey )

Review 6:The best thing regarding the hotel was the location & bars / cafes near by. Breakfast was just Tea / coffee / toast / corn flakes.

Review 7:No place for car. Room overal status poor Fridge even does not have a socet Room not prepared for stay Poor breakfast, if at all you can call it breakfast

Review 8:Too expensive for a dirty dingy room with no view. No credit card machine i had to spend a lot to stay there for 2 nights. Said that there was free breakfast but there was none. Not even coffee. Bathroom was disgusting and the ceiling was filled with loose cords. It seems like they didnt even clean the room before handing it to me. No housekeeping also and the owner/reception was rude and tried to swindle money out of me.

Review 9:The location was nice and the internet was fast.

Review 10:We spend 3 nights in the Hotel Ophir and we had a nice time there. The Staff is more than friendly and helpful and were open for any questions at any time. We really appreciated that! They also booked the day tours for us. The rooms are very nice decorated! The location of the hotel is great! You can take the bus that takes you immediately to the beach and to the old town within short time.

Review 11:There is no possibility to pay for service with bank card. The breakfast is very minor and the area where it is served is strange, if to say gently.

Review 12:Location.

Review 13:Unfortunately I wish I had read the reviews of this hotel prior to booking. No way would I have done so. It is dusty, dirty I took one look at the breakfast and walked out. The bath/shower needed a good clean DID NOT USE instead USED SHOWER at a swimming pool elsewhere which was 100% clean

Review 14:THERE IS NOTHING TO LIKE

Review 15:There was no cleaning for five days, the TV made an annoying buzzing sound when turned on, the reception asked if I could pay cash when I checked in!, I got charged more than the price indicated on the Booking.com receipt, and though I asked for and reminded them repeatedly for a receipt of my hotel stay it has been impossible to get it.

Review 16:The hotel has a central location, it is nice if you want to save on the budget, and the beds have good mattresses.

Review 17:The hotel is not as it was presented in the pictures. The desk clerk told me I could park across the street, since we were leaving by 0600, and then we ended up getting a 500 shekel ticket! The morning clerk was the one who accurately told me where parking was, but by then, we'd gotten a ticket and had to leave for the airport.

Review 18:One thing is worth a complaint: I paid the NIS 300 cash which is OK for the $ 75 in the reservations. I was promised a receipt at check out. At check out there was a story that the computer system did not work. I left my emailaddress and the employee garanteed me that the receipt would be mailed. So far it did not arrive.

Review 19:Comfortable for a last night in Tel Aviv before leaving , good service, good (paid) parking services in the neighbourhood

Review 20:Rooms did not look like the photos.

Review 21:Good location. Ophir the owner was very nice. He was there when i checked out but not when I checked in. Much better experience leaving than arriving.

Review 22:We requested a cot for our baby and one wasn't provided until the final night of our stay.

Review 23:Great location directly opposite the shopping mall and only a few minutes walk from the beach

Review 24:We arrived and were asked to pay cah in exchange for a discount. The room we had didn't match at all neither the pictures on booking nor the description. It was really dirty, the bathroom had almost not be cleaned with marks of previous guests, the air conditioned was broken and we had to unplug it, the breakfast is quite poor even though the young cook is nice. But again and foremost we could have skipped all this if only the owner were nice... We definitely not recommend going there it is perhaps our worst hotel experience ever and it is astonishingly overpriced.

Review 25:Good location, very central

Review 26:Room was incredibly dirty and dusty. I don't think that it has ever be cleaned. It smelled awful. Bathroom was disgusting and water from the drain was leaking all over the place. We had to spend all day sitting out as we could not withstand that awful smell. Not recommended at all and we won't ever return there again. Beware of the hotel pictures - it looks like a 4 stars but isn't at all - the rooms do not look like the pictures. We were also charged NIS 125 more than we should have paid.

Review 27:Great location, just opposite the Dizengoff centre.

Review 28:When we arrived, the guy at the reception didn't want to give us the room at the price that we saw on booking. The room that he finally gave us was noisy and under renovation.

Review 29:very good breakfast and good position

Review 30:Front office service offhand. No help with luggage when we really could have used some.

Review 31:Good location if you just want to chill in Tel Aviv. Good value for money in this expensive city.

Review 32:Was decieven, my room didn't look the same as on the pictures on booking.com

Review 33:The staff was very friendly and helpful. Especially the guy who prepare breakfast.

Review 34:The place is dirty and not oriented to comfort at all. The bathroom had an accordian door that didn't even fit the space and didn't close properly. There were no hooks, shelves, closets, dressers to put clothing. There was no shelf, cabinet or any place to put toiletries in the bathroom. The window didn't close, we had to call help to close the window.

Review 35:Absolutely nothing

Review 36:Very dirty toilet (I found a cafard last day, you could see dirtiness floating in spa bath when you put water on it, and the bathtub drain was almost clogged). Broken tiles on toilet floor. Outdated pictures (looked luxury, was like from an undeveloped country). You could see light from corridor through door and listen all noise. Very poor Wifi signal in room (lost connection due to low signal many times).

Review 37:Location was very centric, very convenient. Breakfast was nice. Air conditioning worked OK. Staff were polite. Style of building was old style, looked nice (it would be perfect if it were clean and fixed)

Review 38:Open electric socket; socket with traces of a fire; mold in Shower Curtain; mold in refrigerator; broken stair steps are dangerous while carrying up/down suitcase; toilet seat falling apart; 2 of 4 lamps not working; overall a mess everywhere especially when leaving hotel to reach breakfast room some meters along the street. Could be a beautiful place if someone would care about it. If cook an other personal would not eat the pancakes, the guest would have more to enjoy about the limited choice of food. Windows provide zero protection from noise at one of the most frequented junctions in the city.

Review 39:Pancakes for breakfast and excellent location in middle of Tel Aviv. Free WiFi is standard so no special like for this

Review 40:This hotel is a farce. photos on the booking are false, absolutely they do not reflect reality. the hotel is dirty, cramped rooms and bathrooms with mildew. the hotel staff is indifferent and unhelpful. No place to park! We were looking for one place for an hour. I would definitely not recommend this hotel.

Review 41:Deceiving information about the facilities & standards of the hotel. The pictures on the web do not reflect the reality at all! Very poor selection of food on breakfast, same variety every day.

Review 42:Location

Review 43:I made a booking through booking.com and agreed to pay 304 shekels, Iget to the Hotel and the manager tells me I have to pay an extra 140 for"tax". He was extremely rude, intimidating and was trying toshow off in front of his staff. I read the terms and conditions afterand realised it was all included in the price. I stayed at over 300hotels in my life and could easily say this was the worst hotel ever.

Review 44:Nothing

Review 45:I got what I payed for. Tv didn't work and when I went to reception for help, there was no one around. The whole place felt like a large apartment that has been turned into tiny hotel rooms. Even the reception area was cramped and claustrophobic.

Review 46:The price per night was dirt cheap.wi fi was strong and fast.

Review 47:Really old and untidy place. Next to a very loud street. Very thin walls - you can hear all night what is happening on the corridor and room next to yours. Breakfast every day same things - very few to chose. I was told that the price is low as per Tel Aviv. So for the low price you get a poor quality. But I think it might be excellent for people who come to Tel Aviv to party. But not for holidays. Sorry.

Review 48:Very good wi-fi. Good air condition.

Review 49:It was not super clean, bathroom was not new (once badly renivated) Breakfast was ok, but in a clean place. Coffee was the worst I ever drank..

Review 50:The location is good, IN Tel Aviv. Busy traffic though, but in the center.

Review 51:Front desk clerk in the morning couldn't have been less helpful. Room faced a busy street and the window didn't close all the way.

Review 52:Late check-in. 24 hour front desk. They let us eat breakfast late and the cook was very nice.

Review 53:Free- but poor Wi-Fi signal. Room is very small. And tiny bathroom. Noise!

Review 54:Location was great. We could access to shopping center, food market within 5-10 mins walking distance! Also bus station within 100-200 meters was useful!

Review 55:TV didn't work and wall bracket was broken, bathroom far from clean and shower head is in the wrong place making the whole bathroom wet. Drain from bath so dirty water doesn't drain

Review 56:the location is near perfect

Review 57:Worst hotel ever...dirty, noisy, with small rooms and small bathrooms.....staff completelly unprofessional execpt for Mr. Isaac who try to calm me down as I was furious

Review 58:nothing

Review 59:Administrator hotel tried to add 18% tax rate and he asked to pay only by cash.It have to pay only the citizens оf Izrail.Cards are accepted for payment in hotel. In rooms were not cleaned. During 5 days was not clean at all. There is no hair dryer, the bathroom is very cold.

Review 60:Location ok, to the sea 1.5 km, good breakfast, internet -ок.

Review 61:The rooms were dirty and smelly. The air conditioning and the bed lights didn't work. It is a very run down place, totally overpriced. We didn't expect much, but we found it worse. Don't get charmed by its good location, it's not worth it at all.

Review 62:Everything I want my money back. I plan to seek recourse. The manager refused t o let me leave I had to pay him up front for my stay.I want proper address to seek refund.

Review 63:Nothing its ashame that you all have to advertise this facility. This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at.BookingsCo is a farce!

Review 64:The hotel is near to the center of the city but it is not a nice place to stay. It is very dirty and different from what you see in the pictures. If you can, please avoid staying in this hotel.

Review 65:The Room it was NOT the one that we reserved they gave us an old and very dirty Room. They change the Room at the morning after discussions and they gave us the one that we reserve.

Review 66:After all the Room problems and arrangements everything was ok

Review 67:Personel with no interest in your needs. Facilities look like they were attended years ago. Cleaning is needed in the breakfast room - just like repairing and painting. Facilities are worn and look awful.

Review 68:Location is the only advantage.

Review 69:very noisy (next to an interchange) breakfast room was hard to find didn't accept credit cards!!!! handle of bathroom door fell out when opening the door from the inside

Review 70:we had two beds breakfast was good

Review 71:The location! As it's close to the Dizengoff we could hear everything going on outside. This was due the the window in our room not closing properly. The bathroom was rather gross and we found plenty of unwanted hairs in there! Also, the towels were dirty and stained. The noise coming from the other rooms was unbearable at times. Some young local men throwing a "party" of some sorts which saw various women coming and going at different times. There is no Wi-Fi in the rooms, you have to go to the reception to access it, where you will be met by possibly the most rude hotel receptionist in Tel-Aviv. (He was talking on his mobile the whole time we were checking-in) I'm not sure if he was being sarcastic when he told us we had one of the nicest rooms. The younger guy on reception at night was nice and got us a taxi for us to go the the airport fairly quickly. Thankfully we only needed this hotel for a few hours before we caught our flight home. So please, if you plan to stay here for more than a few hours. Don't.

Review 72:The only good thing was it was very central to Tel-Aviv. Right next to the Dizengoff Centre.

Review 73:Old rooms, shower needs to be repaired. Internet didn't work on 3rd floor. Breakfast could be better.

Review 74:Central location, just in front of Dizengoff center, friendly stuff.

Review 75:the bed the fact that we paid for a room that was more expensive then regular and we got aroom that still hevent done painted for half aroom and when we asked to switch rooms we got alower class room and paid not only the same price but even more then what we should have paid. the guy runs the hotel is simply nothing but a criminal. will defntly never going back there.

Review 76:the location

Review 77:We arrived late around 3am and asked where to park a car, receptionist did not know where the parking is, we spent 30 min more to find it. The rooms are untidy and small, beds are not comfortable, small bathroom

Review 78:Nothing special..

Review 79:The Wi fi in our room didn't work and no one was able or willing, as it seemed to help us. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom and when you took a bath instead of showering the drain was blocked, so the bathroom floor was flooded in any case. The bathroom was filthy and not cleaned properly.

Review 80:The location of the hotel is very good and the staff helped us to get a good transfer to the airport at night. The aircon/heating worked fine.

Review 81:Rooms are dirty. You can't expect anything like the pictures on booking.com show. I changed my room twice, the first room was full of snails! The second room had no animals but simply was dirty. And all the fittings in the bathroom (esp. the sink) were loose. In the 3rd room, my sheets on the bed had holes...All in all the hotel simply lacks cleanliness and the "design"-character which the pics show. I wouldn't book it. Value for money is insufficient.

Review 82:Staff is great. Especially at the breakfast. Got yummy pancakes.

Review 83:as soon as you open the door it smells like cigarettes. it looks nothing like the pictures. the room was so small that there was no room for the luggage. I asked for a room with no stairs because we travel with a handicapped friend. they accepted the booking but their are thirteen steep long stairs to the front door. i asked to be released and he said no way he was going to release us even though it was obvious we could not get to the room. the odor is incredible.

Review 84:location

Review 85:room was very small no cups, teaspoons etc. very, very noisy, a large space under the door. We could hear all that was going on in the halls etc. No intimacy. Price different than quoted.

Review 86:helpful staff

Review 87:the shower head was broken, and the room wasn't especially nice

Review 88:i got a cheap rate on the hotel. the room was adequate, but certainly not what the pictures show on the website. it was in a great location to see everything in the short time we had in tel-aviv. worth the little price we paid, and they let us store our bags

Review 89:That is was not so clean, and a big factor that the room we got was noton any of the pictures. We had choosen a different Hotel if known. Alsoit was a tub with black hair in it, from the last guiests. And the tub,who took the entire bathroom, did not work.

Review 90:The location was very good, also the staff.

Review 91:When we came in we had to slosh thru the lobby because there was a break in the pipes (or some such problem). They couldn't understand why we were upset, saying this could happen anywhere. But soon after we walked in we could see the place was a mess- in very poor overall physical condition. We had signed up for an upgrade which included a jacuzzi, and view but had no real shower unless you held the head in your hands, and there was no view, believe me. The floor had many cracked tiles, the walls needed many repairs, fixtures without bulbs, etc. Since they wouldn't give us our money back, we toughed it out, but there was lots of noise during the night with slamming doors and arguments and after a miserable night's sleep we were relieved to go to the airport early.

Review 92:The staff was nice and tried to be helpful, but the owner couldn't care less. They got us a cab to the airport and allowed me to use their computer.

Review 93:The hotel needs an urgent renovation! With the same price I saw much more pleasant hotels in the same area.

Review 94:The location is quite good, but it could be better if it had some distance from the main traffic.

Review 95:Straff definitely not friendly Room not cleaned, we seriously wondered whether they just straightened the bed after the previous guests without changing the sheets Breakfast was in an awful bar outside

Review 96:Okay location

Review 97:The staff at Hotel Ophir was very pleasant and helpful. The room was very comfortable, quiet (despite the hotel being right in the center of tel aviv) and clean. Large bathroom. Excellent price! As I travel to the country often, I have I stayed in many hotels in Tel Aviv, and Ophir Hotel is a very strong choice

Review 98:Very good location, 10 min walking distance from the beach, next to the Dizengoff mall, good wi-fi, nice small room, great breakfast. Very good value for money!!! It is not Hilton or Sheraton, byt always you can go and stay there !

Review 99:One needs to park car across the street in parking garage for 50 Shekel/night

Review 100:Clean Good WiFi in room Amazing breakfast with baked eggs to order and pancakes etc

Review 101:not clean...and facility is too old.. actually, I have never seen such an old facilities, shower booth, bath room. towel is not clean, steined...I even killed some small bugs on the floor. awful.

Review 102:breakfast is good, cheep price, good location..

Review 103:The hotel is not for the fussy, rooms are charmingly imperfect - it is really more of a base camp for exploring the city than a luxury destination in itself.

Review 104:Located at the heart of the city, the hotel is at a great crossroads between the bohemian and upmarket shopping areas. The beach is a short ten minutes away and there are numerous bars and restaurants around - great value for location!

Review 105:The staff was unable to control or deal with rowdy guests who kept me up til 3 one night and 5!!! the next.

Review 106:Great location in the center of Tel Aviv with lots to see and do within walking distance.

Review 107:The room wasn't cleaned when I arrived and it wasn't cleaned even once during my two nights there. Reception said ok when I demanded the cleaning but nothing happened. Toilet paper ran out before I leaved. Air conditioner dropped a water on to my luggage. Advice: if you choose this hotel, don't take the first room they offer you, no matter how tired you are.

Review 108:Breakfast was surprisingly good, they made even omelette for you.

Review 109:First of all the reception area needs a good overhaul. It looks reallybad! Old decrepited furnitures, wires hanging on the walls. The floor ofthe room that was given to me looks so awful! The refrigerator lookslike it was taken from the trash; the sheets on the bed looked like theywere not fresh: The bathroom was disgusting: The pictures seen on theinternet were totally deceiving! I did not feel safe in that hotel: Ihad to barricade my door at night with my suitcase and a furniture. Onenight I woke up jumping because of noises I heard at my door. Thekitchen and restaurant are so not nice! The breakfast was poor; thewhole hotel needs a serious overhaul!!! I was extremely disappointed andtruly disgusted! The same day that I arrived in Tel Aviv after seeingthe room I went looking for another hotel. Finally I ended staying therefor a couple of days since I was going to be out most of the time. Ialso noticed on several occasions that reception area was leftunattended by staff and anyone from the street could have had easyaccess to guest rooms;. I would never recommend this hotel to anybody.Keys are used to lock the doors and anyone could easily pop the roomdoor open with a credit card. No one came during my absence to make thebed. The towels were so old looking and rough to the skin. I could notmake out if they were white, grey or beige. Same thing with the bedsheets. Not enough toilet paper in the bathroom. The bed mattress was sohard. This hotel is simply not a three star hotel and is not to berecommended!!!

Review 110:The staff was all men! Four of them were nice; But the 5th one was sorude that a guest from Venezuela had to tell him so; He was walkingaround holding a bottle of red wine qnd his glass at 9:am!!! When Iwalked to the desk he was on his cell phone. I waited a good 10minutes for him to acknowledge me and he did it with the phone stuckedto his ears.

Review 111:The staff is not helpful or attentive. The rooms are not clean enough and they are not ready at the arrival of the guests.

Review 112:The breakfast The location

Review 113:Breakfast is too late (starts at 7:30), there is noise from outside and in. locks on room doors are quite flimsy. not very up-kept.

Review 114:was cheap and staff was nice. bed was comfortable.

Review 115:Internet, at times was weak. Could have used a drinking cup in the room, but not a major problem. Hot water was really luke warm - again, not a problem.

Review 116:Very accommodating and helpful. Good breakfast. Location - walking distance to train station (1.6 km) and #5 bus to bus station.

Review 117:Old ferniture and equipment, not very clean. Payment only in NIS (shekels) or credit card and the price in shekels was 10% higher than on Booking.com.

Review 118:Staff was very helpful and nice. Quite large rooms with bathroom, airconditioning. Was suprisingly quite at night. Situated next to the Dizengoff shoping mall and about 20 minutes by walk from the TA HaShalom train station, uncomplicated route.

Review 119:Very small room. Not enough space for 3 persons. Our room didn't look as the one on the pictures. When we asked for the room we booked they told us That there are no free rooms and that it looks almost as the one we requested. Bathroom was very old with dirty bath tube. The room where breakfast was served was very dirty !!!!

Review 120:I could have stayed longer!

Review 121:We were a couple and we liked the easy access to walk to most places, the cleanliness of the room and the AC, and the helpfulness of the staff. I left my bag there for a week after and it wasn't a problem.

Review 122:a bit too expensive

Review 123:its clean and well located

Review 124:Breakfast no good and not available. Room not so cosy.

Review 125:Good location.

Review 126:I was surprised because the room was incredibly dirty. Walls, floors, bathroom was discussing!

Review 127:There is nothing to like in this hotel!

Review 128:Very dirty location, smelly room, never every

Review 129:Really nothing

Review 130:Only the reason that it wasn't possible to pay with different credit card ..

Review 131:Perfect location, perfect staff and cheaper hotel ;)

Review 132:Friendly and helpful staff.

Review 133:Weird smell in our room and the shower was gross

Review 134:Inexpensive and great location

Review 135:The condition of rooms,

Review 136:Location is convenient and staff is kind.

Review 137:Staff's attitude is rude and not customer oriented. Facility is not well maintained and not clean.

Review 138:Very dirty hotell, and the restaurant was below all circumstances. Smelled very bad

Review 139:The location

The Fine Print

According to local tax laws, Israeli citizens must pay VAT (Value-Added Tax). This tax is not automatically calculated in the total cost of the reservation.Room rates are quoted in USD, but guests are charged in NIS based on the official exchange rate on the day of arrival.
