Reviews for Hotel Monterey Sendai

Review 1:A little far from the station especially if you have big luggages.

Review 2:Exit from Sendai station using west exit, hotel is visible on the left. Extremely friendly staff who go all out to serve and answer queries. Tried their very best even with limited English. Room are spacious for the twin and very clean. Nice onsen spa on the top floor.

Review 3:Room and Furniture like wall paper, bathroom curtain are quite old and look dowdy. Check in lobby area is quite small and very crowded when we got there.

Review 4:Near Sendai Station and shopping area around the station.

Review 5:No control over the air conditioning. Opening the window did not help in cooling off the room to our liking.

Review 6:Excellent location with Sendai Station right across the street.

Review 7:Close by to the station and plenty of places to eat near by. The hotel was presented well, themed as old fashioned English housing but very clean and comfortable. Sendai isn't as busy as Tokyo so it's a nice change of pace

Review 8:Unstable wifi connection was the only real thing we didn't like. Hardwood floors are nice but neighbors with high heels are very noisy.

Review 9:Close enough to the station...about a 5-7 minute walk. The beds were very comfortable. Service was excellent and the staff understood and spoke English well.

Review 10:The Monterey is only 100 m from Sendai Station so very convenient to train and buses, and only a few blocks from the central Tohoku University campus. The wi-fi was excellent. The hotel has a charming old world feel, yet everything functions as new and was spotlessly clean.

Review 11:Bit of noise from trains. Small room not a lot of hanging space but comfortable.

Review 12:Can see hotel from west entrance of Sendai station go across road via overpass. At the end of EBeanS there is an elevator(lift) to street level.

Review 13:I enjoyed my 2-day stay at this hotel (July 2014). The hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from Sendai station (you can see it, to your left, as you exit the station). My double room was a good size, with room to walk around or sit at the desk or table/chair. The bedroom and bathroom were both super-clean. I used Sendai as a base for visiting other nearby locations, so didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel. However, it was good value, perfectly comfortable, and I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Review 14:My daughter, son-in-law and I were traveling in Japan. We were almost running out of clean clothes and if the laundry facility was close by, we would have used it to wash our clothes. The staff said there was none close by.

Review 15:Easy access to JR station, local bus and subway lines. Many shops and department stores near by. Clean room, quiet and good room size.

Review 16:night staff a little unsure of process.

Review 17:the morning staff was awesome. I had my luggage mailed with the help of the hotel staff. very close to train station.

Review 18:The staff spoke very poor English, it wasn't straight forward to pay with MasterCard.

Review 19:Location is great, the room was nice.

Review 20:Too expensive comparing to the facilities provided

Review 21:location, room space

Review 22:no air-con in room, room stuffy. Clerk said heater is turned on as it is winter. But I'm so hot. Talked to clerk, but no solution.

Review 23:location

Review 24:Smoking smell in hall way. Bath room has bad smell.

Review 25:Good room size and location. Air filter in room.

Review 26:Good functionality but room interior and furniture felt worn out and slightly aged

Review 27:Close to JR station, shopping and food. Quaint retro atmosphere.

Review 28:Too expensive.

Review 29:Room space is comparatively large, compared with other places in Japan with comfortable bed.

Review 30:location very good near Sendai Station and many restaurants and arcade for shopping and convenience stores.

Review 31:Nice look and feel and great location

Review 32:The room was very scruffy and badly needed decorating. I took breakfast one morning (1700) yen and while the buffet was good with quite a lot of choice the breakfast room was depressing, much too quiet and with no character. There were only three lifts which wasn't enough for a big hotel and there was no coin laundry just an expensive laundry service.

Review 33:The location was good - just a few minutes walk from the station, shops and restaurants. The room was spacious although with twin beds when I had booked a single. Unusually for japan the air conditioning was great and wasn't limited by the hotel.

Review 34:The hotel was not far from Sendai station and located in the city center area. The room is quite small so was the bathroom. The receptionist were very helpful. Not the best choice in Sendai.

Review 35:Reserved a non smoking room. At check in verified that we were being given a non smoking room. Get to room and it reeks of smoke. And, then I see a sign on the night stand that states don't smoke in bed. Was not happy.

Review 36:Location

Review 37:The room was small, not unexpected for Japan. While the cost of thehotel room was reasonably good, everything else was too expensive. Thishotel had the most expensive breakfast/minibar etc of anywhere westayed. They also only provided one of all the amenities (E.G.toothbrush) even though the room was booked for two people, and therewas no tea/coffee etc. There was also some confusion about theirmachine not accepting my visa card when I went to check out. After alengthy discussion about them advertising that they accept visa and thatwas how I was going to pay, they tried the card through a differentmachine and it worked. Possibly a good idea to have a back-up plan topay for the hotel if you choose to stay there.

Review 38:The location was very convenient; directly opposite the jr Station. Theroom was clean.

Review 39:Coffee should be provided and there are no Engligh channel television for those who do not understand Japanese

Review 40:Decoration is nice and the room is quite comfortable. The location is convenient and close to the train station. Checking-in and checking-out processes are quite quick.

Review 41:The first night we were put into a smoking room, which the staff had tried to clear of the stench of cigarettes (unsuccessfully), but then we were in non-smoking rooms the other two nights. No problem.

Review 42:This hotel is comfortable and personable, and central: very convenient to the station, shoppping and all other transport means.

Review 43:Had a seedy feel to it with a small crowded foyer area, uninviting restaurant at ground level and maintenance works on the lift making the whole welcome very cluttered and unwelcoming. Payment upfront was also a turnoff.

Review 44:Close to the station.

Review 45:Location is good. the staff was very kind and helpful.

Review 46:The dirty bathroom curtain.

Review 47:Friendly staff and generously sized rooms. Very helpful and friendly staff who could speak English.

Review 48:near JR sendai station

Review 49:Location is good, just 4 mins walk from the Sendai JR station; where shops and many restaurant can be found.

Review 51:None

Review 52:In the heart of the city

Review 53:Small.

Review 54:Location is good. Room is clean.

Review 55:Comfortable and clean room. Internet connection OK.

Review 56:Very clean. Location was perfect. Close to train and city bus

Review 57:Super like the furnitures!

Review 58:Rooms and furniture need renovation.
