Reviews for Park Hotel San Michele

Review 1:Probably there at the wrong time of year as the weather was very cold and foggy - mid October.

Review 2:We had the friendliest and most helpful breakfast waiter - Pietro, we encountered anywhere in our 2 months travel so far. Secure parking available inside the hotel grounds is very good if you have a lot of luggage. Lift available.

Review 3:Hotel maybe a little dated, but not really an issue considering overall value and service. I did not experience noise from large parties, maybe just lucky. However, hotel has facilities to host large events.

Review 4:Hotel was well situated in a park like setting about 10 minute walk to the center of the historical area. Breakfast was excellent, bathroom was spacious, car parking easy.

Review 5:Dated decorShower was absolutely tiny, a struggle to manoeuvre oneself - and I'm small. Poor hairdryer. No wifi signal in the room, which we reported, but nothing was done about it. Breakfast was woeful - good selection of cakes but not much else and everything was stale, poor coffee. Not sure why other reviews have rated it well.

Review 6:Spacious room.Nice grounds (but a bit unnecessary given you don't really spend much time at the hotel). Aircon was decent. Not far from the old town but the area surrounding the hotel has not got much to offer. Free parking.

Review 7:Nothing

Review 8:This hotel is located about 5 minute walk outside of the historic centre. We walked from the train station, which was an easy route (about 10mins). Nice gardens to relax in and swimming pool was a welcome in the afternoon heat. The room was very spacious, when we arrived we noticed the fridge door wouldn't close properly but that was fixed as soon as reported. The bathroom was huge and the towels and cleanliness was excellent. The reception staff were friendly, and particularly the chap at breakfast was very friendly and helpful - he also cooked eggs to order. Plenty of choice at breakfast from fresh fruit, yoghurts, bread, ceareals, meat, cheese, all kinds of cakes, juices - and hot tea and coffee.

Review 9:Our second stay at this fantastic hotel. The amazing breakfast outside looking over the garden is worth the stay alone. The staff can't do enough for you. We can't wait to stay again.

Review 10:none,would stay again.

Review 11:short stroll to old to old town bars and restaurants, plenty of people watching in the evening mainly locals, good on site parking.nice terrace and garden for drinks with a slightly old world charm

Review 12:Excellent hotel, close to old town and stazione, large clean room and bathroom on second level. Breakfast was exceptional, great helpful staff, good value for money. Always quite busy with other travellers made it interesting.

Review 13:The hotel was very busy with groups and at dinner we were put in an unattractive side room with only 2 other customers. It appeared to be a fixed price meal as no menu or wine list were offered and there was only 1 starter and 1 dessert with the two other courses having only 2 options. Breakfast was better in terms of food and staffing but again away from the main customer areas. Our major complaint is that the receptionist on arrival accepted our our booking for an extra night but the following day when we returned to the hotel for an afternoon rest we discovered he had made no record of this and we were required to vacate the room and leave as no other room was available. As it was a national holiday we had trouble finding other accommodation and hotel staff were unhelpful.

Review 14:Location within walking distance of the town centre. Lovely gardens

Review 15:It is said that 'no information is better than wrong information'. Perhaps the staff should refrain from giving any information unless they are sure of what they are saying. They were, however, anxious to help.

Review 16:Pierre who looked after the breakfast room is a treasure and most helpful. The bedroom was large and comfortable.

Review 17:Some renovation work underway with resultant noise but then it has to be done sometime.

Review 18:Excellent restaurant meal and breakfast, plus attentive and friendly staff. City center free parking on site.

Review 19:The outside park amenities were drab and looked disused but this could down to being off season. The bath needed attention. Plug did not work for a bath and it had no screen for a shower.

Review 20:We liked the staff and location. Being half way between the train station and the old town. The size of the room

Review 21:Room location was about as bad as it could be. First floor across hall from a function room in which was a large family Christmas party. Noisy until after midnite. Outside in the garden Christmas carols blared away from very loud speakers. There was no getting away from all the noise except to turn up the volume on the tv which led to a call from the front desk asking me to turn the sound down. It wasn't that loud but the walls were not insulated. Oh, and something in my evening meal made me throw it all up at about 1am.

Review 22:Breakfast was great.

Review 23:The location was a bit outside of the old town and centre. Almost every restaurant and bar were closed so it was hard time to find a proper trattoria to eat dinner, except two or three pizzerias. A quite far walk to the train station. The staff was not able to speak much English and did not even explain that there was a local Holiday during the two days we were there and did not bother to mention to us about the Fiesta celebration of Saint Martinus or the big market the next Morning just in front of our hotel. A four star hotel should do a little more than just give you the key and collect the key. Should learn the Basics of English as we did learn in Italian.

Review 24:The breakfast was really good with a wide selection of everything.

Review 25:The décor and appearance of the hotel is generally pretty jaded. This is true of the rooms, the exterior and the public areas. Quite pricey.

Review 26:Helpful, pleasant staff. Enormous, comfortable room. Excellent breakfast, with a very wide selection by Italian norms - both sweet and savoury. Easy to park. Location pretty handy for the old town - only a 5 to 10 minute walk.

Review 27:Didn't like that tub had only a hand-held shower. Didn't like the modern style of the room's furniture, at odds with rest of hotel. Lighting in room was very dim.

Review 28:Loved the ambiance of the old hotel, once a duke's home. Lovely, large garden with pool, long veranda overlooking it. Easy walking distance to historic center, shops and restaurants. Good food in pretty restaurant with great service, and hearty free breakfast spread including made-to-order omelets. Spacious, clean room with comfortable bed.

Review 29:They didn't explain the local market cuts the hotel off, the exit to the car park blocked by stalls. Havng to drive through the bustling market was taxing, not to mention the ripe insults coming from the market goers. Great hotel but they were unable to make the basic of Italian cocktails the Negroni, with flat prosecco also being serverd, and a poor delivery of apperitivo snacks!

Review 30:Great atmosphere, lovely setting, great location to see a beautiful city. Great breakfast.

Review 31:We liked everything about it.

Review 32:This hotel is nicely situated just a short walk to the walled city of Martina Franca. We had a lovely room with a large balcony overlooking the pool and gardens. The included breakfast was excellent, and the restaurant in the hotel is really good and reasonably priced; we had dinner there every night. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. This is a lovely place to stay while exploring Martina Franca!

Review 33:nothing

Review 34:A little bit like stepping back in time however the hotel has lots of charm and elegance. Our room wasn't very large but it was comfortable and clean. Hotel gardens are quite extensive with a lovely terrace for breakfast and catching the late evening sun. We didn't try out the pool as it was very bright green and looked in need of a clean. Hotel staff were very helpful, particularly all of the gentlemen on reception who went out of their way for 4 days to help us get back our missing Alitalia luggage. Location is a short walk from the beautiful old town and an easy walk to the station to catch trains to the other white towns in the area. Would definitely recommend.

Review 35:Not enough loungers around pool. Wifi a little intermittent in our bedroom The shower was minuscule. No proper bar area so we felt a little lost at times. Hotel ought to provide more information for the guests. You could always ask at reception but you do not always want to do so, so a better folder in English would help.

Review 36:This is wonderful, slightly old fashioned hotel. The food was excellent especially the breakfasts. Pool are great . The staff really looked after my wife and me.

Review 37:Wow stay here. Nice rooms great gardens and pool. The breakfast was fantastic. Staff so helpful and friendly. Good location nice easy walk to old town for a great evening.

Review 38:In short: no wifi during my whole 3-night stay - not the hotel'sfault, but . . . other places had it, as this hotel normally does.By the time of checkout, they could not accept credit cards becausethe line was down: were asking people for cash and pointing to theatm across the street! This is not what one expects from a hotel ofthis quality. I needed to work and was directed to a cafe someblocks away. :-(

Review 39:Room was palatial: fridge, a/c, tv, minibar fridge. Location wasgood, staff was helpful. Breakfast is quite fine: omelets to order onweekends. Bath is nice but tub w/ no shower curtain takes somegetting used to.

Review 40:I would have preferred a shower over the bath rather than the hand held shower/hair washing type of installation

Review 41:The central position of the hotel and the park like gardens

Review 42:Location for train and city .

Review 43:old fashion rooms design micro shower space

Review 44:nice garden and tasty breakfast

Review 45:Awesome waiters/ waitresses at breakfast.

Review 46:Loved the pretty garden and having lunch on the veranda

Review 47:Great food at the restaurant and for breakfast, really nice and clean swimming-pool!

Review 48:to small room and not nice balcony

Review 49:fantastic breakfast

Review 50:Great service, nice location close to the old town, nice garden

Review 51:very nice hotel with swimming pool, only 10 minutes walking distance of the historic centre

Review 52:Loud disco underneath our bedroom window both nights (Monday & Tuesday) until 23.30.

Review 53:The ability to walk to the center of town in a few minutes

Review 54:Les pâtisseries du petit déjeuner ! La gentillesse du personnel

Review 55:staff unfriendly and unwelcoming. breakfast was terrible. Coffee especially awful

Review 56:Room was very nice and bathroom great. very quiet

Review 57:Very limited breakfast, room and hotel outdated in appearance

Review 58:Spacious clean room, friendly helpful responsive staff, nice garden

Review 59:The wi-fi

Review 60:The breakfast is good with, eggs, etc. There is no a breast variety of fruit of yogurt, but a lot of Sweet pastry.

Review 61:Hotel was a little tired and dated. Food quite bland.

Review 62:The staff were very helpful and friendly.

Review 63:We liked the nice and great garden, the breakfast, the very kind waiter, some parts of the interior, and the good location.

Review 64:Location, facilities, staff, food. It was such a lovely experience

Review 65:Nothing.

Review 66:Location, a nice park with swimmingpool, friendly staff, excellent breakfast, nice room with a lot of space, and free parking on premises.

Review 67:Although a bit old aged.

Review 68:The breakfast, the swimming pool.

Review 69:Hotel rather impersonal and 'tired'.

Review 70:Location for visiting area.

Review 71:Friendly and helpful staff

Review 72:Location is OK, center at walking distance, free parking, old hotel but with the typic atmosphere/glory of the old days, but all was clean, bath with bubbels (was fantastic), breakfast was good, very friendly staff, nice garden

Review 73:The hotel was a little dated but had character.

Review 74:The staff were absolutely amazing. Hotel room generous, parking included and right next to the entrance and breakfast was delicious and the best pastries from Istanbul to Rome.

Review 75:- humongous room and humongous bathroom - fair enough the hotel was luxuriously furnished 20 years ago but it is still very pleasant - nice flat screen TV really modern - great buffet breakfast

Review 76:Lesser used parts of the grounds appear to need some maintenance, but not enough to be a concern.

Review 77:Located in park; lovely grounds. Close to historic town center. Shuttle to/from train station. Staff offered excellent suggestions for lunch in town. Hotel has own restaurant on site with terrace dining for dinner; flexible with dinner selections; good advice for wine selections at dinner.

Review 78:Leaving! Wednesday was the day of the street market immediately outside the gates. It completely filled all of the streets around the hotel and it was a nightmare driving away. Thank goodness the natives are friendly!

Review 79:A nice hotel in its own grounds with easy parking. The room was comfortable and quiet, the food was very good, but not exceptional - though they did have decaf tea! The scenery around about is wonderful, because you are in trulli country.

Review 80:This hotel has had its day. It requires major upgrades to linens, bedding, furnishings in order to compete with other hotels of the same price.

Review 81:We understand the economy is poor so it is difficult for the hotel to improve. It is best for budget

Review 82:Hotel is hard to find if you are new to Martina Franca.

Review 83:Very comfortable and convenient for visiting the surrounding area. Free parking. Martina Franca had plenty of good places to eat. Breakfasts were good and the waiter in charge of them was especially pleasant and helpful.

Review 84:Pleasant location a short walk to the historic centre also good for exploring the region. The hotel staff were kind and most helpful . Free secure car park and free wifi.

Review 85:The hotel was 10 minutes walk from Martina Franca old town and so very convenient for getting to concerts during the Classical musical and Opera festival in July.

Review 86:The furniture is old, the wifi connection is rubbish and it's very noisy

Review 87:The garden area

Review 88:big room, great staff

Review 89:Had a meal in the Hotel restaurant one evening. Very overpriced for a less than mediocre meal.

Review 90:Location, hotel grounds, pool.

Review 91:ideal town centre location + ideal for short breaks

Review 92:The hotel has seen better times, a renovation is urgently needed. Breakfast was not great

Review 93:Location is good, swimming pool is fine and staff friendly

Review 94:Balcony door and window if open can be accessed by others from their bedrooms or other people. No clips to do partial opening.

Review 95:Easy parking Good food

Review 96:It was very good. Services also good. Feel is classic my wonderful trip. Next time I wish travel to my famuly.
