Reviews for Castello Di Montegonzi
Review 1:This property is in a beautiful location. It is on dirt roads, but don't let that deter you. The staff and the facility are incredible. Fabrizio could not have been more accommodating. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Review 2:Please be warned, that access to the property is through Panzano in Chianti, not Greve
Review 3:Fantastic location on top of a hill (but quite complicated to reach), wonderful views of surroundings (Greve, Montefioralle), pool
Review 4:They said the road shouldn't be used by low vehicles but it is not only the bad graveling on the road, it has also got loads of tricky parts and is very long. This made it a very bad location as popping out for dinner or to the shops just wasn't an option and driving at night along the road wasn't feasible. Stayed in loads of places in Tuscany and while most farms have dirt tracks to the accommodation this was the worst I have seen and made the visit very irritating as we felt we couldn't just pop away .We had a downstairs apartment and whilst really pretty the noise from the people upstairs was extremely irritating. They had a dog which barked part of the night and then pattered around on the echoing wooden floors for the rest of it. They also seemed to be moving furniture and woke us up every morning really early so if you want a good nights rest I would recommend the upstairs apartments only. The wifi is only near the office and has a very low speed. We didn't use it very much but it wasn't uncommon to see around 6 people from various apartments all huddled around the office. This isn't a place for privacy and solitude unless you rent the cottage which seemed more detached. The apartments are all located either on top of each other or right next door so lost of noise from other tenants and you didn't really have much space to yourself.
Review 5:The property is very pretty and the apartments are large and have good facilities. The views are spectacular over the valley. There is a lovely big pool with loungers which looks out over everything and is spectacular. There are barbecue facilities but not outside the apartments. There is also a washing machine which is handy for long stays. Very pretty but had some issues.
Review 6:No airconditioning, and at 40 degrees on a mountain top it can get quite hot. We went out twice a day for breakfast and in the afternoon to visit a town and have dinner. The road can get on your nerves after taking it for a week...
Review 7:Everything is clean and well maintained. The pool is great, with a view on the surroundings and the picturesque village of Montefiaralle. The Castello is on a mountain top, so great view on every side. Walking distance (with a bit of effort) to Greve with lovely restaurants. Chianti is, I think, the most beautiful part of Tuscany, and the Castello is right in the middle of it. Wine farms all over. Florence is at a 30 minute drive, and Arezzo, Siena and Volterra in about an hour. As there are 5-6 separate houses, it is quiet but not abandoned :)
Review 8:Monica and Fabrizio were amazing hosts during our stay. We were travelling with our 1 year old and attending the festival in Greve, and Fabrizio was brilliant in helping us to travel to and from the accommodation as we needed. They also helped out with tours and transfers. Accommodation and facilities were great, amazing views!
Review 9:Beds very uncomfortable! Road to get here VERY rough. Directions confusing! Would not recommend to other travelers.
Review 10:Nishan, the manager, was great tried to do everything to make out stay pleasant.
Review 11:Great base for Tuscany. Sienna 45 mins, Firenze 30 mins 1 1/2 hrs from Pisa
Review 12:Extreme noise from apt above us
Review 13:Location between Greve and Siena
Review 14:Rough long road to the inn.
Review 15:Fantastic views Great pool Lovely spot Nice rooms with kitchen Romantic
Review 16:Cant get there without car. Wifi does not work.
Review 17:Location overlooking montefiorelle. Great villa layout, rooms decor and vista. The pool.
Review 18:Not close to Greve as said in website description and walk down was for a mountain goat. Attention to small details like fly screens, dripping tap and free internet. Should also emphasize dirt road suitability earlier on website.
Review 19:Gorgeous view.
Review 20:Far from towns. Closest is a 1.5 km walk downhill and otherwise a drive. Place is a bit run down, weeds and grasses growing throughout the garden beds, furnishings tired and kitchenette very basic. No bowls. Very icy fridge that barely worked. The current caretaker doesn't give you much in the way of a welcome. Not very friendly. No information offered on arrival except a few mumbled directions to the room. The place obviously has the history of a castle being there at some point but most of the building is not as old as it is suggested on booking.com and the website. Also, directions on how to get there on booking.com and their website are wrong. Difficult to find and ended up having to call the owner.
Review 21:Lovely views and swimming pool. Country feel. Relaxing and off the beaten track
Review 22:2km unsealed road, no car access from Greve, only FWD. Car access must be from Panzano. Furnishings could be upgraded.
Review 23:Tranquility. Beautiful view, Pool
Review 24:Cottages are hard to locate and final road leading to Costello Di Montegonzi is extremely rough. Only cash is accepted here. Surrounding towns are 10 - 20 minutes away by car.
Review 25:Views are amazing. Cottages provide a rustic experience of how the locals live. Surrounding towns are warm and inviting.
Review 26:The location of Villa is on the urban slope close to the city. Our wish was hill top location with view on Tuscany hills. But no matter that we will return.
Review 27:Monica is great. She was very helpful and gave us all what we requested. Her wine is great. Im sorry that we got only 1 bottle. We had different reservation but they put is in a villa with a lot of space ( whole house) and a pool behind house. It was great!! I would recommend it to my friends.
Review 28:nothing
Review 29:nice nature, good accommodation
