Reviews for Hotel Belvedere
Review 1:Hotel Belvedere was absolutely fantastic. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Wonderful welcome with a bottle of champagne. Superb views. Couldn't have been better!
Review 2:None
Review 3:We loved the location, friendly staff and the hotel room, facilities and most importantly the view from our ocean suite! We would visit this hotel again if we come back to Amalfi Coast! Highly recommend this hotel it was good for parking and traveling to Postino and Amalfi.
Review 4:The location was beautiful , peaceful and quiet. We had a rental car , otherwise you would have to depend on local busses to get into the towns . It was perfect for us!
Review 5:Can be a bit noisy in the night, you can hear most things from the rooms next door and hallway.
Review 6:After an somewhat ecxiting/stressful trip on italian roads leading to the hotel, i really regretted my chioce of holiday destination. That was until i opened our balcony on saw the most incredible view, straight out of a movie :-) but what made it really perfect and what made me forget all the narrow roads and tight corners on the road, was the bottle of cava brought as a present from management to our room! This small but highly appriciated token was worth everything.
Review 7:The air condition was not working on 4 out of 5 nights. Some of the staff didn't take well on constructive feedback.
Review 8:Fantastic views and good location. The owner is a friendly man that we had the pleasure to meet. Size of room was very good. We had a junior suite.
Review 9:Bathroom could have some renovation. Shuttle service stops at 19:30 - can't use it for getting back from dinner in Amalfi.
Review 10:Quiet location with amazing views from the room and from the breakfast terrace. Comfortable room with a balcony. Very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. Good shuttle service to Amalfi (about 4 km). Pick up and return by certain restaurants in the vicinity of the hotel (Da Ciccio is recommended).
Review 11:Spectacular view, beautiful room. Friendly and helpful staff. Great food!! It was nice to be just a little out of the busy towns. Quiet and relaxing.
Review 12:Air conditioning was difficult to adjust, but staff helped with that.
Review 13:Quiet, comfortable and clean. Friendly, helpful staff. Great location with rooms situated facing the sea. Easy access to sights on the coast. Hotel recommended resturants that picked us up and brought us back.
Review 14:The restaurant at dinner was a little odd. We were b&b rather than half/full board. The food is okay but the staff make you feel a little odd/uncomfortable if you are going off the a la carte menu. Therefore, we preferred to eat out rather than eat dinner at the hotel. One of the reception guys also had a bit of an aggressive streak and was quite rude - I really wasn't a fan and he spoilt the experience for me a little.
Review 15:Greeted with a bottle of cava upon arrival which was a nice touch. The reception staff also take you to your room rather than sending you off on your own which was also nice. The photos don't do the view justice. It's simply beautiful. The breakfast is utterly fabulous. The pool is lovely, as are the guys that work by the pool.
Review 16:The service was poor, to say the least. The hidden unknown costs delivered at check out were an unfortunate end to our stay (not to mention that cash was requested as preferred payment, which was very odd). During our stay, there was a completely lacking attempt to assist in our desire to explore the local area which was truly unfortunate. The hotel felt sad and dated and the staff felt tired and disinterested in their guests. The calibre of service during our time at other hotels in towns nearby was above and beyond what we received at Belvedere. I'm not sure how they can claim 4 stars... I think 2 stars would be more appropriate.
Review 17:The bed and pillows weren't comfortable, but manageable. Also, rather than a serve yourself continental breakfast you had to order from a waiter. Some items were free of charge (fruit, breads, pastries, cereal) while other items such as fresh squeezed juice or eggs/omelette were an additional charge.
Review 18:The location is amazing, as is the pool and nearby beach. Getting a sunbed at the pool was also easy and we never had to fight with crowds. The hotel also offers a free shuttle service to many nearby restaurants and beaches. There are some incredible restaurant around the hotel!!
Review 19:Being allowed to eat breakfast on the lovely outdoor terrace but not being allowed to eat dinner there which was a shame but there is no doubt a reason for this. The room was a little old fashioned and did not have the comfiest bed
Review 20:The seawater pool, stunning views and location were amazing. Generally the service and attention were very good, and the food was excellent
Review 21:Nothing bad at all. Dinner is formal (white jacketed waiters, but not patrons), and indoors (which we enjoyed one night of our three in the area, but chose to eat outdoors the other two nights). Everyone was very friendly. But in an old school way. We loved the three days we spent there with our 3 kids (teen/tweens) and hope to return. The pool was very relaxing, with nice pool service, and we loved swimming in the sea below as well. We rented a boat (through the front desk) and enjoyed that very much as well. The superior rooms had beautiful terraces.
Review 22:Beautiful hotel, great location, stunning views, great staff
Review 23:I can't think of a thing.
Review 24:We liked everything. Our room was gorgeous and the food was heavenly. The staff goes out of their way to be helpful and friendly. This is our second stay at the Belvedere and we believe we have discovered a real gem. We hope to return next year.
Review 25:the cleanliness was not what we expected with standards a little below par, e.g. Very dusty under the bedside tables, bathroom floor not cleaned regularly, restocking of toiletries was untidy. We twice had cups / glasses with lipstick marks on them. We also thought the breakfast choice was limited with only some items free of charge but other items which we believe to be fairly basic breakfast options were only available as a charged option eg scrambled eggs meats and cheeses. We also thought the breakfast service was a little old fashioned and we would have preferred a buffet style where we could access our own food and make our own choices instead of having table service where for example our yogurt choice was made for us and we were never asked which flavour of fruit yogurt we would like.
Review 26:The pool area was very nice and having access to the sea was great. Although the walk down the steps and back up again would not suit people with mobility problems and therefore would limit your experience. Our room was a junior suit and was a great size with a huge terrace.
Review 27:The staff in the restaurant had an arrogant approach. The meals were not to the standard of restaurant meals. The breakfast was very simple. The bed was super hard. Very disappointed in the service for the price.
Review 28:Good view of Amalfi coast. Our initial room had a limited view and the door handle fell off so it was problematic to open the door but the reception staff changed the room
Review 29:I'd prefer my clean towels not touch the bidet. The hallways and room were all tile so noise carried - the hallways were fairly loud in the evening / mornings.
Review 30:The view and pool were great!
Review 31:Not much in the immediate vicinity to walk out to. But there were free shuttle buses into Amalfi and to surrounding restaurants so not really a problem. The public bus also stops right outside and is very cheap.
Review 32:Wonderful hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful, especially the pool staff. Pool area was so peaceful and plenty of shade if wanted. Scenery is amazing. Lovely having breakfast outside on the terrace. Best Tuna steak I have ever had!
Review 33:The hotel is a bit older, but well maintained and has its charm. The staff in the restaurant could have been more polite. We had dinner once and that wasn't great. But we read good reviews about it here. So could have been an off-day. Breakfast is not great but it seems to be better than other hotels around.
Review 34:Good location which combines views with little beach and large swimming pool. Also close to Amalfi and Positano, but need to take a car or bus that stops in front of hotel. Rooms are OK. Staff of reception is really great.
Review 35:we booked 2 junior suites and the least you expect is a tea kettle in the room with condiments which was not there.Missed having bed tea on a holiday. The breakfast was a big let down as its not a buffet but served to you on the table so you need to have a lot of time in hand to order and wait. You can only have whats in the designated menu so if you want an extra boiled egg maybe you wont get without an extra charge. Buffet is definitely better as you can quickly grab a bite or have at leisure and can decide how much of what you want.
Review 36:The hotel is well situated in the quiet area of Amalfi Coast. If you do not want to be in the hustle bustle of touristy Positano and Amalfi. The staff and hospitality was very nice. They specially made vegetarian dishes for us which was very nice. The front desk staff was really helpful. The pool and the rocky beach were also very good. The accessibility from the rocky beach to the other seaside towns was very convenient.
Review 37:The property was quiet and peaceful. The poolside is lovely and you can walk down the stairs to go straight into the ocean. Close by Amalfi Town & Positano. The staff is friendly and lovely.
Review 38:Location - hard to access shops/tourist attractions without a car Shower head and bath need much improving
Review 39:Friendly staff, lovely restaurant, beautiful views
Review 40:The elevator and the rock tunnel entrance to the pool area was pretty unpleasant. Parts of the hotel need to be updated.
Review 41:Very nice and friendly staff, a beautiful location on a high cliff with a magnificent sea view and a nice and clean room with a balcony. But the hotel atmosphere itself was somewhat sleepy and stiff.
Review 42:One morning at breakfast staff brought us rotten muffins. When I told them at that, he only said "Ooh!" and later brought us three pieces of cake! Be careful!
Review 43:Location, swimming pool, environment
Review 44:We were traveling with our dog since the hotel is advertised as pet friendly. He was, in fact, allowed in the room, but he was forbidden everywhere else in the hotel, including the terrace. Because the hotel is situated on a cliff and the winding roads are dangerous for pedestrians, it was very difficult to walk him anywhere. We also got the sense that the staff were displeased that we had the dog with us. Every other place we have stayed in Italy has embraced him and adored him. Overall, the staff were not very friendly (aside from the very kind waiter mentioned already) and seemed a little elitist--we didn't fit the mold of their typical guest: older, rich, and stuffy.
Review 45:The hotel is situated on a stunning cliff side with a gorgeous view from the rooms, the terrace, and the pool. The room was well decorated, clean, and spacious. One of the waiters at breakfast (an LA Lakers basketball fan) was incredibly friendly and helpful.
Review 46:Not a thing.
Review 47:The balcony of our room and the view back to Amalfi. Great breakfast every day. Staff were brilliant. Always accommodating. Brilliant pool. Awesome shower!
Review 48:Outdated interior Needed to pay extra for breakfast side orders that should be included (such as ham) Dinner expensive and not very good Very hard bed and pillows Location requires car travel to all of the villages
Review 49:Sea view Swimming pool Very friendly staff Got a free room upgrade
Review 50:Nothing
Review 51:Everything. Always feel very welcome. Came here 8 years ago or more with my girlfriends and came back with my fiancé and nothing has changed, staff still the same and the hotel still of the high standard.
Review 52:The views from the balcony and breakfast terrace are beautiful. All staff very helpful. Rooms very comfortable and very clean. Location of the pool is perfect.
Review 53:Wifi.
Review 54:We loved our room with the balcony and the fantastic see view. The nice breakfast on the terrace which has even better view of the Amalfi Coast, was difficult to get away from. A wonderful experience with attentive staff made it an even more enjoyable experience. Thank you.
Review 55:* An old Hotel with old stylish customs and old facilities. * The entrance to the hotel is located less than 0.5M from the main road (Sorrento-Amalfi). Although, the rooms are quiet. * The Hotel is located 4KM from Amalfi with nothing nearby.
Review 56:* The view from the balcony of the room is impressive, especially from the restaurant’s terrace. * Very friendly and helpful staff. * The free parking in a place like this is very important (even if it is double). * Good WiFi. * The continental breakfast which was served to the table, was excellent. * Not very spacious rooms but the junior suite was spacious and nice.
Review 57:We waited over 1.5hrs for the bus into Amalfi, constantly popping back into reception to check the bus times and chat to the concierge about how rubbish the buses were, then after 1.5 hrs!! She offered us the hotel shuttle bus, clicked her fingers and off we went. So frustrating! Why was it not offered straight away?
Review 58:The Room, the staff, the pool, the views.
Review 59:Was lied to by reception and told it was illegal to use A/C but eventually got a room change. The extra charge at breakfast was annoying.
Review 60:I'd say the best view over Amilfi breathtaking.
Review 61:All was nice
Review 62:The service in the hotel is perfect, the personell is always ready to help you with any question. The location is also perfect: with the car you can easily reach all the nearby towns on the coast.
Review 63:The location is its biggest advantage but also biggest disadvantage. The Amalfi coast road is very often totally blocked with traffic (it can take several hours to go the four kms to Amalfi), which means you can't get into or out of the hotel unless you walk. No fault of the hotel, but be prepared that you will not be able to easily get to anywhere else along the coast without a lot of stress and long waits for buses that don't arrive because of the traffic. A boat service to Amalfi town or Positano would solve all their problems with access.
Review 64:This hotel is in the best location if you want to stay put, soak up the peace and gaze at the magnificent views. The pool area and the rest of the hotel is gorgeous. The food was lovely, breakfast was great. Service and staff were very good. Room was huge with a large private balcony with full ocean views and towards Amalfi town. Bathroom was large and clean, well equipped. WIFI was great. Bus stop is right in front of hotel. The hotel runs a shuttle bus into Amalfi.
Review 65:Nothing!
Review 66:Everything about our stay at the Belvedere was first class. The staff could not be faulted and they even arranged a trip to Pompeii for us. We will certainly be going there again!
Review 67:Wi-fi works not so good Dinner and pool snacks are quite expensive. The platform near the sea is not very clean.
Review 68:Its a n amazing hotel, I have stayed 2 times here> On the Amalfy cost is very difficult to find a hotel with a sea access. This hotels is located on the rock above the sea, so you can enjoy a stunning sea views and also you have a access by elevator and stairs to the water. Free parking is a bless of God - its so heavy to find one in Amalfi cost. Breakfast is just great.
Review 69:We liked everything about this Hotel. The staff were all amazing. The area perfect. Cleanliness could not be faulted. Just a generally relaxing and very welcoming place to stay.
Review 70:- Slightly surely male on front desk, daytime. - Moet Champagne (ordered by phone for us by my daughter!) was VERY old, almost undrinkable! - NO TAP WATER in restaurant! - Decor and ambiance lacked imagination and colour. Everywhere is white!
Review 71:Location Staff Pool Restaurants Food = 6.5/7 out of 10
Review 72:Breakfasts ok - but seemed a bit penny pinching to charge extra for a slice of ham and scrambled eggs!
Review 73:Good staff, particularly waiters Excellent large junior suite well furnished with breathtaking views Superb pool Dinners good - except for desserts Good modestly priced local wines Good car parking
Review 74:Leaving
Review 75:Stunning location and views. The staff was very helpful and friendly and provided wonderful service. Excellent breakfasts on the patio with great service and views. Dinner at the hotel was wonderful. The first night we turned our A/C on before heading out for dinner. When we got back the condensate was leaking onto the bathroom floor. The night concierge gave us the key to another room to sleep in. The problem in our room was fixed shortly after breakfast and the manager sent down a bottle of wine for our troubles. This was a nice touch.
Review 76:We had a problem with water leaking from our air conditioning which wasn't resolved (other than switching the air con off) but as it was our last night, it wasn't a huge issue
Review 77:The staff at the Belvedere couldn't be more welcoming. The food was great, the room was comfortable and the location is good (about 10mins from Amalfi) as the hotel offers a shuttle service to guests (for a fee). The pool location, perched on the cliff, below the hotel, is fantastic.
Review 78:The hotel feels slightly old and out of date. The dinner was very disappointing. Our entrees came out so quickly and looked/tasted like they were pre-plated cafeteria meals. Both the dinner and rooms were far too expensive for what you actually get.
Review 79:The views were beautiful.
Review 80:After the chaos and hustle of Venice, Florence, and Rome we were looking for somewhere to relax for a few days before returning home and this was the perfect place. The staff were all gracious and welcoming even after I messed up the arrangements for a car to meet us in Salerno. The rooms are spacious and all overlook the ocean. They are not new but they are clean, quiet, and well appointed. The cliff side pool in spectacular and you can even walk down a a few flights of stairs and swim in the ocean if you want. A simple, yet substantial breakfast is served on the terrace overlooking the pool and the sea. Dinners were elegant and delicious. The only downside is that we didn't feel that walking on the roads around the hotel was a safe proposition, but the public bus stops right in front and the hotel runs a shuttle into Amalfi so it is easy to get into town if you want.
Review 81:The location is wonderful - world-class views, not least from the dining room and terrace. (Breakfasts - 10 out of 10.) There are pleasant walks up the hill behind, and it's SO peaceful, compared with overcrowded Amalfi. The bus ride along the coast road to and from Sorrento is fantastic value for a fiver - get a seat on the sea side and soak up the scenery while marvelling at the driver's skill. There's a bus stop right outside the door, and the hotel sells tickets. Amalfi is only 15 minutes by bus in the other direction, or you can walk it in 40. The pool balanced on the cliffs is fabulous; salt water, good size, wonderful views and excellent service. Snacks and lunches are delivered to the poolside by a wicker basket on a pulley. The staff are friendly, characterful and with pride in their hotel. Highly recommended.
Review 82:The room wasn't well maintained - old outdated furniture, mold around the caulking of the tub, ants in room, hallway windows so cloudy you couldn't see out of. If these things were remedied, this would be a fantastic hotel to stay at. Still would recommend even in spite of these things.
Review 83:The pool, the grounds and views were excellent. We met several travelers while we stayed that were repeat stays - one of them six times in the last 25 years! We enjoyed the location - in a small town with only a couple of restaurants close by (excellent restaurant: Le Bonta Del Capo), lots of steps and no shops nearby. Do a daytrip to Positano or other town if you want that. This hotel is great if you just want to relax by the pool or your balcony with great views of the sea.
Review 84:Old hotel , needs exterior maintenance. the interior decor is not my still , and the bath could be in better shape
Review 85:The location is great the staff for the breakfast in the terrace was great.
Review 86:Old ... Poor breakfast...dinner menu has no price later you are charged a very high price ... As we were staying for an extended period ... The owner was kind enough to invite us for dinner as his guest...only to be charged for a bottle of wine ...what a hospitality ...
Review 87:Views
Review 88:No service at the pool Very cheap uncomfortable sun-loungers Hotel in general is tired looking which is reflected in the elderly cliental it primarily attracts Hotel has no sense of occasion
Review 89:Staff were very friendly and helpful whilst at the same time being respectful Good position Food not amazing but good for hotel food
Review 90:The evening meal was poor. It was the most expensive meal we had in ten days in Italy and it was one of the worst.
Review 91:The pool is fantastic and access to the sea for swimming is great. The hotel certainly has a lot of retro charm.
Review 92:At no fault of the Hotel, but it is located on the main Amalfi coast winding road, therefore no place to take a stroll after supper.
Review 93:Room was very spacious and very clean. Staff was very friendly (especially Luigi the parking attendant). At 300 steps from a small public beach. Great service from Vincenzo and Antonio at the pool area. Great breakfast with sweets, fresh cut up fruit, juices, cereal and coffee all of it served to you.
Review 94:Nothing !
Review 95:It was the best hotel, I have ever been!!! The cleanness, the equipment, the wonderful panorama from our terasse, the super pool, the elegant breakfast, the polite staff.
Review 96:Hotel itself was great, really nothing to complain about. If you stay late in Amalfi, as the last bus is at 10 PM, to go back to the hotel you either need a rented car, or get a local taxi which are surprisingly expensive (25 eur).
Review 97:Very nice hotel, great pool with warm sea water, quiet and relaxing, has a pool bar as well, also has access to a small private beach at sea level via stairs. Food was very good, rich breakfast, spacious rooms, clean and well equipped, balcony had a very good view. The hotel is also very well placed between Positano and Amalfi, with the bus stop right outside the hotel.
Review 98:Parking is somewhat of a problem but this is not the fault of the hotel. The problem exists throughout the coastal area.
Review 99:I liked everything! The Belvedere is one of the hidden treasures of the Amalfitana Coast. The rooms, food and staff were wonderful. The facility as a whole is impressive and well decorated. What more could you ask for?!
Review 100:We didn't like having to leave this, little, "Slice of Heaven on Earth".
Review 101:The staff members were very warm and friendly. They did their upmost to anticipate the needs of all guests, and exceed their expectations. The result was a vacation experience that, in my opinion, would be nearly impossible to beat! Their director/owner, Mr. Antonio Barbara, is ever-present to see to it that no details are overlooked. This attention to detail, superb service, deliciously fresh gourmet food, outstanding overall dining experience, a spotlessly clean facility, and an incomparable view, are the hallmarks of this great Hotel Belvedere. You would be well advised to not miss the opportunity to visit the Amalfi coast in style, in a centrally positioned location that can't be beat! Truly a extradionary value for the price.
Review 102:Hired a car, Italian drivers are maniacs, recommend full waiver cover if you hire a vehicle. The extra peace of mind will be worth it. Bus journey into local town, crammed packed with standing passengers. No way of accessing ticket machine unless you crowd surf. Huge fines if you are caught without a stamped ticket apparently.
Review 103:Staff speak good English and are very welcoming. We had a welcome bottle of bubbly too which was very much appreciated after a long journey. Our sea view was amazing, never before had we had such a view. The room was immaculately clean and cleaned every day to very high standard. We had only booked B&B but would recommend full board as you won't find better food anywhere local. It's not cheap but it's the best food. The pool was perfect overlooking the sea. Slight breeze keeping the temp bearable and plenty of shade if you needed it. Never a problem getting a sun bed either. Pool staff couldn't do enough and waited on us, grew quite fond of them. Needed a peaceful break for a week and certainly achieved that here.
Review 104:Some places of the hotel need paint and some renovation...
Review 105:Position, good stuff, nice room, lovely view, delicious breakfast, variable gourmet dinner, comfortable pool, everything for a relax vacation...
Review 106:leaving
Review 107:The breathtaking view was only the beginning of beauty at Hotel Belvedere. The staff are attentive and friendly, and welcoming. You feel like you are part of their family! Despite there not being many restaurants outside of the hotel, the food at Hotel Belvedere was outstanding. The dinner menu changed each night, and we never tired of the individual explanations given by the maitre d'. I would go back in a heartbeat..
Review 108:Having to leave.
Review 109:The staff is outstanding! We were treated like royalty, everyone went the extra to help out. I cannot reccomend this hotel highly enough! We did not want leave, and will definitely come back.
Review 110:The breakfast could be less continental, eg. assorted cheese and salami should be included in a standard breakfast. Not all European like their breakfast sweet :) The room doors close noisely.
Review 111:Stunning sea view, amazing swimming pool, excellent food and service at dinner, the curviest way to the hotel ever :) in general good old European style with the touch of luxury. The hotel is surrounded by lush vegetation and flowers. We have spent the nicest holidays for years!
Review 112:The restaurant is odd and the food mediocre.
Review 113:The hotel was comfortable and the staff were great. It has amazing views and the pool is great.
Review 114:EVERYTHING! They are always so friendly and helpful. They made restruarant and private boat tours for us. Great place and people.
Review 115:Very good staff. Beautiful setting. Comfortable but the decor is a bit tired.
Review 116:Poor breakfast, complicated staff, old-fashioned style
Review 117:Spectacular view, big and clear pool, amalfi coast, balcony.
Review 118:the hotel could benefit from a little updating..
Review 119:View and swimming pool area...huge pool which is excellent for lap swimming and just lounging around
Review 120:Shuttles should be cheaper or free to almafi
Review 121:Location , room , views , staff
Review 122:Amazing location,lovely food & very friendly staff.Honeymoon here 20y ago & came back for 20th anniversary!
Review 123:The location was paradise It was away from the madding crowd Quiet, tranquil and peaceful
Review 124:Wonderful location and wonderful staff.
Review 125:We haven't had any bad experiences, only good.
Review 126:We liked everything about this hotel. This is our second stay there.
Review 127:Location, room view, staff
Review 128:Fab hotel, great location, amazing views, awesome pool, loved everything
Review 129:Wonderful location and glad of the parking after the coastal drive. Excellent meals served by professionals. Great pool.
Review 130:Pillows not great
Review 131:Lovely staff and a great location with fabulous views. Restaurants and beaches nearby and close to amalfi. Very good prices
Review 132:Old world, feeks like you stepped back in time, more for elderly couples
Review 133:Enjoyed the views, and terrace
The Fine Print
The restaurant is open from 12:30 pm until 2 pm and from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm.
