Reviews for Al Teatro

Review 1:No bad experiences. We were well satisfied with the accomodations.

Review 2:the location was very good-withing walking distance of the market and some good restaurants. Friendly staff, a very nice breakfast, and a delightful patio to enjoy it in.

Review 3:This is hardly a criticism of the hotel but getting back after a trip to beautiful Lucca. We kept going round in circles trying to find our road!

Review 4:Although it was a bit of a trial finding the hotel and parking (you need a permit from the hotel) my husband and I soon realised we had found a real gem. We walked into a wonderful calm oasis after driving round hectic Livorno. There didn't seem to be many staff but all we came in contact with were friendly and helpful especially the 'mature' gentleman who appeared to be there 24/7 as we saw him last thing at night and first thing in the morning when he served us breakfast. Breakfast was in the small, serene garden and was perfectly adequate for our needs. Our room was clean and comfortable with good air con (for my husband). The hotel has some lovely pieces of artwork dotted around which adds to the quirkiness of the place and is only a short walk away from their 'Little Venice' which is buzzy and vibrant. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this hotel even though it was a little difficult to find and parking was a slight issue.

Review 5:We had two rooms - one was very nice but the other on the ground floor was not big enough for an extra bed. The floor was also under repair so the room should not have been rented.

Review 6:Nice quiet street. Hotel was clean. Had an elevator which we do not always find in budget hotels. Staff was helpful, especially night manager. We walked to the Corsica ferry - it was too far with baggage. The taxi would have been very cheap so next time we will ride!

Review 7:This small hotel is in a perfect location in Livorno, and has a peaceful inner garden where one can linger over breakfast. The staff was helpful and very friendly!

Review 8:Typical old style italian customer service, or actually absence of it. You know like if you make a remark they antagonize you, they want to be always right and they missing out on customers coming back.

Review 9:location.

Review 10:Breakfast was a problem on the first morning which was a Sunday the hotel was busy there were only three tables set in the breakfast room and although it was warm enough to sit outside the tables were not set nor were the chairs clean. Also there were only two croissant left and not much choice of anything else. Things did improve and by our last day the tables and chairs in the garden were clean and set and there was more choice of food, but it should be like that every morning. Also you had to check out of your room by 10 o'clock but we were asked to pay the night before because there may not be any staff on to process our bill.

Review 11:Al Teatro is a clean and comfortable hotel in a pleasant location. The room was fine with a small bathroom, but was spotlessly clean. It had a very pretty walled garden which was a real bonus.

Review 12:Slightly uncomfortable and small bed, but only fault I could find

Review 13:Wonderful staff, immaculately clean. The garden is stunning at night as well as daytime.

Review 14:The bed was quite hard but that's how I prefer it, I can see where some might not enjoy it.

Review 15:The property is well situated in the city, beautifully maintained, and a great value for the money. The staff was gracious, the rooms well appointed, and the breakfast was adequate.

Review 16:Nothing.

Review 17:Nice small hotel in the centre of Livorno. Interesting design of the rooms that have the names of famous composers and musicians. Traditional Italian breakfast is served. The staff is very kind and helpful.

Review 18:Cleaning was not good enough, there were some hair in my bed before even using it! Breakfast was really poor! I only could have some cheese and bread!

Review 19:Location is good!! The people in the reception was nice!

Review 20:This is a really good small place in a good location. In addition, the staff were very helpful in suggesting places for dinner and how to get to the railway station

Review 21:Staff struggled with English which made it hard to communicate

Review 22:The location and the cleanliness of the room was good. We only stayed overnight so not really long enough really to comment but great for what we wanted.

Review 23:No car parking - big problem. No tea or coffee making facilities. We saw only one English speaking Receptionist in 3 days.

Review 24:Hotel Décor. Rooms were small but nice. Bathroom was clean. Linen/towels were fine.

Review 25:Very happy to get all we wanted for our night in Livorno (for under 100 euros). The staff was very accommodating and provided a lovely breakfast in the morning. Within walking distance to the port and Little Venezia, and across the street from its namesake theatre. The room, entrance and breakfast room were our first stops in Italy, and I really appreciated its authentic Italian charm. Not modern, but with modern amenities. If I went back to Livorno I would stay here.

Review 26:no fridge or tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom. No English language channel on the tv.

Review 27:This hotel was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It is a 10 minute walk into the main street of Livorno where there are plenty of shops and cafes. Livorno is a busy sea port and not very geared to foreign tourists. Lots of cruise liners pull into the port here but the vast majority of their passengers who disembark head off straight away on bus tours and don't hang around Livorno. Livorno is a good point from which to visit other locations if you are touring around Tuscany and its coast. If you are staying in Livorno for any reason we would highly recommend this lovely small hotel.

Review 28:WiFi was good but unusual to have it shut down overnight. Rooms are not large but the size is what I expected so no surprises.

Review 29:Small bistro type hotel in a quiet back street. Short walk into the town centre but with good local amenities. The courtyard garden was very relaxing. Good restaurant just up the street.

Review 30:The city itself (livorno) is not my favourite.

Review 31:Such a pretty hotell, with marble stairs and composers names on the rooms. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Review 32:Hotel is located in a very shabby rundown neighbourhood which certainly took away from hotel experience. Entire city appeared old and dirty, certainly nothing to see or places to explore.

Review 33:Staff were very nice and helpful. Garden was lovely. Enjoyed complementary breakfast. Hotel itself was charming, some attractive antique pieces of furniture. Walking distance to harbour. There was an excellent restaurant a few feet away from hotel.

Review 34:Everything was great

Review 35:Breakfast in the Garden! Nice quite rooms.

Review 36:no parking place!

Review 37:Nicely furnished hotel, close to the port, friendly staff, breakfast in the garden

Review 38:the room was a little bit small for 3 people.

Review 39:the hotel is good located near the market and has a small garden to realxe.

Review 40:Air condition didn't work, impossible to sleep.

Review 41:Nice location, nice hotel.

Review 42:Friendly staff.

Review 43:The people, the atmosphere, the paintings on the walls, the cleanliness, the advice provided on arrival by a guy who spoke good English (!)

Review 44:tree in garden,birdsong,antique furnishings

Review 45:Very helpful staff and walking distance to everything

Review 46:We especially liked the ability to relax in the outdoor garden.

Review 53:One of the best "theme" hotels I've ever stayed at. Highly recommended!

Review 54:Walking distance to the ferry port. Very friendly staff. A lovely, comfortable room. Lovely breakfast.

Review 55:I liked everything about the place: the friendly and helpful staff, the location, the clean, quiet room and the breakfast in the lovely garden.

Review 56:Lots of atmosphere. Nice location.

Review 57:Breakfast was sparse & basic - for example, no fresh fruit salad Dining area not particularly accommodating

Review 58:A quaint and charming characterful hotel Good for the price Despite us not speaking Italian, staff tried to be helpful

Review 59:Breakfast selection is very limited.

Review 60:I loved the location being walking distance from the town centre. Staff are very well mannered and always available to help. Room was clean and comfortable.

Review 61:Friendly and quite enviroment in the heart of Downtown. Just for information, they had a small area for parking close to the hotel but nevertheless was full, but on the other hand there is a good indoor parking bulding at just only 3' minutes walking distance from there; it is cost 4€ the whole night, it was very cheap. Near to the parking had a very good italian restaurant cheap and excellent food.

Review 62:Our room was facing a street with a wall. The view from the room was bad.

Review 63:The hotel is perfectly cleaned everywhere. A great view from the terrace bar.

Review 64:Would benefit from a kettle in the room for a tea or coffee.

Review 65:Beautiful little hotel booked for 2 nights stayed 4! Good location and we were able to park outside which was a bonus! Gorgeous gardens! Would recommend.

Review 66:Nice hotel in the center of the city. Friendly staff and we could park for free in front of the hotel with a special card from the hotel. Good alternative if you need to catch the ferry to Corsica in the morning.

Review 67:The staff at Al Teatro went out of their way to be friendly and helpful, even phoning around to arrange parking for our over-size van at a garage that was closed for the holidays but opened just for our van. The hotel is charming with each of its rooms individually decorated. The public areas are beautiful, and an excellent Italian breakfast is served in an lovely small courtyard. I would certainly stay there again and fully recommend it to others.

Review 68:very friendly staff, although they don't speak English, they were very, very friendly! When we ever go back to Livorno, we certainly would return there.

Review 69:There is nothing to fault with this B & B!

Review 70:The staff were lovely and very helpful. The building and gardens were great and lovely to have breakfast in.

Review 71:Very unique hotel, the furnishings are very ornate, fabulous artworks displayed, very old worldly establishment. The rooms are small but comfortable and the continental breakfast very nice served in an exquisite dining room.

Review 72:I only stayed one night and don't know why I would stay inLivorno for more than that. Except this hotel. A more than excellentwelcome to Italy.

Review 73:Super friendly staff, even when language was a barrier they went beyondthe call to provide comfort and hospitality. Wonderful little hotel withgorgeous decor and a lovely terrace. Rooms were ornate and lush withoutbeing over the top.

Review 74:Basic breakfast (though we left at 6.30am)

Review 75:Charming little boutique Hotel with very friendly staff. Rooms are alldifferent and have all necessary amenities. There is also a garden atthe back that is very enjoyable.

Review 76:That it rained and stopped us from relaxing in the garden.

Review 77:A charming hotel Art lovers dream. Close to bus stop, shops and attractions. Stayed only one night, would recommend more. Livorna and the surrounding area has lots to see.

Review 78:The fact that the hotel charged us before we went and also after we hadleft. They did correct their mistake, though!

Review 79:The hotel itself, the lovely oil paintings adorning the walls and theinterior decor of the rooms.

Review 80:Too short a time there !

Review 81:It is really wonderful. Quiet and aesthetically pleasing. Lovely garden for breakfast. Great hydro massage shower. Fantastic service ... Lovely staff!

Review 82:The wi-fi did not work and no attempt was made to correct this issue after we made a complaint Parking is difficult in the area. Breakfast was pretty minimal. Our room was pretty small.

Review 83:The hotel is central in Livorno and is nicely designed and comfortable. Livorno is not a very attractive city but we had a great meal at a local Osteria and the people were very friendly.

Review 84:A small, high quality boutique hotel only a short taxi ride from the ferry terminal. The staff and service were excellent with Francesca going out of her way to help return a diary left in the room. Antoinette Sydney, Australia
