Reviews for Albergo Del Chianti

Review 1:We booked an apartment for 4 people but were told that it had been double booked. When we arrived we were given a double room but still charged for the apartment.

Review 2:Location was good, right on the square.

Review 3:Pretty old, very basic. I'd give it 2 stars out of 5. We only stayed one night and it was fine for that.

Review 4:Location is great, right in the middle of everything

Review 5:Equipment of the hotel is as old as the hotel itself, owners should realize that they need to invest some money into maintenance (broken toilet seat, broken shower door etc) and refurbishment of the hotel to keep it going

Review 6:Great location, good breakfast, friendly staff

Review 7:faultless

Review 8:Charming cheerful owners/staff. situation overlooking square pool and garden for afternoon rests pleasant aroma from next door bakers.

Review 9:Shower much too snug! difficult to enter and leave, I'm not big, just average size, would be impossible for someone who was large.Unable to pay with credit card, although the Wi-Fi and phones were working??

Review 10:Great location for the wine festival, lift very useful too.

Review 11:The hotel is run by a fabulous, if somewhat Monty Pythonesque family, who never fail to keep you smiling and are always so helpful. I would go back in a heartbeat. Maybe not be for everyone but it was for us.

Review 12:Great location in town square with easy access to day trips around Chianti. Family owned and very personable owner who made friends with everyone. Lots of return visitors

Review 13:The shower cubicle was extremely small it was impossible to raise your arms together it was unpleasant and spoiled a good hotel it looked like it was added later. The aircon was noisy.

Review 14:Friendly hosts nice garden and pool great location

Review 15:The bedrooms are a little dated and need some work. Air-conditioning was a little noisy.

Review 16:The location in the main town centre , the friendly family service, good wifi, nice garden pool area and good options from a large breakfast . Our overall stay was very good.

Review 17:Room facing the square is quite noisy, the air condition is noisy as well.

Review 18:Lovely city, excellent location of the hotel on the main square. Numerous restaurants, shops and vineries are just a few steps away. Large free parking place nearby. Nice backyard garden with a pool is a perfect place to chill.

Review 19:Hotel very dated, staff not particularly friendly, small room with a tiny window overlooking a rooftop. Noisy air conditioning system. The card machine wasnt working so we had to pay cash on checkout which sounded a bit dodgy

Review 20:Great location

Review 21:Had a fab time at Albergo Del Chianti. The pool area was lovely. The hotel was located centrally in the main square. The breakfast was lovely especially the omelette. The icing on the cake was the 2 brothers that owned the hotel. They were so friendly, helped us out with our travel plans and they were also really funny, they made our stay so memorable, would definitely return.

Review 22:The air condition unit did not work properly, noisy and hot. Had to turn it off and open the window...with street noise...

Review 23:Very well located, the hotel was quiet and comfortable. Clean and small, the room was nice.

Review 24:Wifi only in reception area, no refrigerator in the room. Our family room had separate entrance just across the corner and was like small tower split in 3 levels (basement for WC and shower, and than one room in thefirst and second floor, not bad but quite old fashioned:)

Review 25:Nice Hotel with nice swimming pool and place for taking sun bathes just on the main square of Greve in Chianti.

Review 26:Rooms and bathroom is rather small. The shower is not made for larger people.

Review 27:Lovely hotel in a fabulous location. The town square is so "Italy".

Review 28:No air conditioning. Desk personnel, which was the morning breakfast staff was not very friendly or helpful. Wifi was slow

Review 29:Location Staying in the town square was a great experience. There was evening entertainment almost every evening. Pool was pretty.

Review 30:Nothing

Review 31:Whilst on the square and worried about noise , strong shutters and goo airconditioning meant no issue despie operA in the square. Great pool , beer and wine reasonable and english excellent

Review 32:Fabulous views, beautiful place, friendly welcoming staff. Luca went out of his way to be accommodating - he even drove us up to the town for dinner and collected us after we'd eaten. Breakfast included home made bread and cakes and good local produce. I would most definitely stay here again if visiting Volterra.

Review 33:I use the same tour guy in Tuscany each year. When I told them where I was staying this year, they responded, "Oh, they're an odd bunch." At that point, I knew that I was in trouble. I like to immerse in the culture. I learned Italian six years ago to enhance my experience on each trip. We were not allowed to immerse at this hotel. The rules changed all day long. Eat at these tables in the morning. Eat at these tables during the day. Sit at these tables before 5. Sit at these tables after 5. Smoke at these tables. You can't eat anywhere in the hotel now. You can't smoke at these tables anymore. Why are your friends and relatives smoking there? The credit card machine isn't working today. Pay in Cash. I'm paying with credit card, why don't you try it, because I am not giving you cash. Oh, it must be working again.

Review 34:The location is right on the triangle. The price was right for Tuscany.

Review 35:Can be noisy at night if people are arriving and/or leaving their rooms, re; walls don't don't block much sound.

Review 36:Great location, friendly hosts

Review 37:One of the staff was not to helpful. He sat around most of the time with his girlfriend and seemed a bit bothered when you needed his help. Not terrible, just not like the other two.

Review 38:A perfect base to see Chianti. the location couldn't be beat and the facilities were beautiful. There was a wonderful garden area with a pool in the back that was a comfortable place to sit and have some wine.

Review 39:Breakfast could have been more Exciting but it was fine.

Review 40:I stayed here last week with a group of friends. The staff were really really great. So nice and helpful. The hotel itself is clean and tidy, very basic but it's got everything you need. The pool is great, and the location of the hotel is perfect. I would 100% recommend anyone to stay here if in the area

Review 41:Ha - colder weather than we had hoped for - springtime is late also in Italy. But can't blame the hotel for this :-)

Review 42:Nice brothers who run the hotel take turns being in reception. Good tips for walking (to Montefioralle), good wine tasting tips (Barone Ricasole, Antinori), great central location right on the market square.

Review 43:I liked the friendliness of our hosts, delicious breakfast and amazing hard boiled egg machine!. Lovely breads. It was all scrupulously clean and simple and unfussy, which we liked. It was also very central for walking in the hills and to the local market, so great in Greve!

Review 44:The wifi was a bit erratic and you kept on having to sign in.

Review 45:The location on the piazza is perfect and the breakfast was amazing (if you got there before things ran out). The staff varied from fair to excellent - it depends on which family member is on duty.

Review 46:Dirty rooms, old furniture Wifi didn't work Decoration of the hotel and rooms

Review 47:Great location in the middle of the city Friendly staff Breakfast was alright

Review 48:The location did mean that we were awoken by bin men and local traders rather early.

Review 49:The location and the view from our room. Friendly welcome. Comfortable stay.

Review 50:The location of the hotel in Greve town is excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The bedrooms are comfortable and nicely decorated. Breakfast is good, and the gardens and swimming pool are delightful.

Review 51:Superb location, room overlooking pool was quiet even during the Chianti Classico Wine Festival. Very clean, bedding and towels changed every two days. Staff very helpful (English spoken) in booking taxi and restaurant reservations. Breakfast items all fresh and plentiful and catering for gluten free.

Review 52:The beds maybe could be little better!

Review 53:A really pleasent place, wounderful garden with a nice pool, the family guys who owns it are really great! The breakfast is very good, and I must say that is not what we are accostomed to in Italy! We have been there 2 times, and if we are going back, well then we know where we have to live!

Review 54:Sat Nav will try and take you right to the door, but the square is closed during the wine festival, so you will get stuck. There is a great free car park only 5 minutes walk away. Front rooms in the hotel are very noisy, especially when the festival stalls are clearing away, but great views of the action. Rooms fairly basic and can hear everything in the next room.

Review 55:Great position for the wine festival. Ideal to keep popping back with bottles that you have bought. Lots of reasonable restaurants within walking distance. Lovely pool area and great self service breakfast. David is a great, if unconventional, host.

Review 56:Very small bathrooms. When checking out was told we had to pay cash although we reserved on a credit card and was told we could pay with the same. It worked out but was inconvenient at the time as we had to go get more cash out that we hadn't planned on needing.

Review 57:Location was great. Friendly family that owned the hotel. Good breakfast.

Review 58:The en-suite shower cubicle was dirty & the bathroom was dim & gloomy. The receptionist was amiable but unprofessional in manner & attire.

Review 59:The location of this hotel is perfect, right in the corner of the piazza. The garden & pool were excellent. A great choice for breakfast.

Review 60:our room was not serviced at all after the first night (we stayed 3 nights), bathroom & shower was tiny, had to pay cash rather than c/card on departure (as their machine was apparently not working).

Review 61:The location was great (in the main square - lots of restaurant choices nearby), breakfast and wifi included, good price/value, lovely outlook from our room to the pool (room 202), cheeky David (Manager?) was fun and had good English. Local markets in the main square on Sunday and Wednesday. Great local produce available in the main square's shops for picnic lunch to take with you for a day exploring in the countryside. Free parking nearby.

Review 62:There was nothing we didn't like.

Review 63:This hotel is located right on the main square in Greve. The location couldn't be better! Little shops and lots of great restaurants are all around the big open square. The pool area was a lovely garden spot. The family-owned property is really well cared for. The breakfast was good with meat, eggs, cheeses, fruit and fresh-baked sweets. Easy free parking nearby.

Review 64:Credit card machine didn't work and expected us to pay in cash. Luckily we had enough on us but kind of gave a bad taste to the end of our stay.

Review 65:Very accommodating staff and neat location. Cozy room and cute backyard.

Review 66:Though the room was very clean, it was also a bit bare, but as we were only sleeping and taking showers there, it worked as it should.

Review 67:The staff (owners and family) were very "real", being themselves having a good time while doing their work. Davide (one of the owners) is a funny and seemingly very happy guy, making you feel at home the second you walk into the hotel. Great location on the Piazza, cute back-yard with very clean pool. Oh, let's not forget the more than excellent big breakfast.

Review 68:we had the family suite next door was really basic accommodation but totally acceptable. the AC didn't work in the loft section, so a bit sweaty. The staff went out of their way to compensate for this.

Review 69:very helpful staff. delicious breakfast, awesome pool. very friendly place and so central. would recommend to someone looking for comfortable (but not luxurious) room and convenience, welcoming atmosphere.

Review 70:Nothing I didn't like

Review 71:The family run business with a very very very friendly people. We felt like we were at home and the garden with nice and clean pool was very relaxing. The room was very clean & the whole hotel was clean. The staff talk and jolk with u all the time. If I ever go to Greve again I 'll stay in there again.

Review 72:Where do I start.... First, this should be listed as a Bar that rents rooms. They have a great dining room/bar with lots of covered outdoor space. You can't use this. You need to stay in your room or stay by the pool. At seven pm the Bar opens... No eating or drinking allowed except if you purchase the items from them. (their are lots of placed to by food or wine right outside the door) This is a family run business that treats it like its their living room. (employees have friends hang out to drink and smoke) Yes, sign posted "No Smoking"... Must mean someone else. The clerks dress in jeans and t-shirts. Don't ask about local sites, you'll get vague answers or incorrect ones.... This has the potential to be a wonderful place if they put some effort into it. They must not like Americans, we were ignored while Europeans were fawned over.

Review 73:Location was good. That's about it.
