Reviews for Hotel Gosford

Review 1:Bedroom with en suite bathroom not very large.

Review 2:The location is perfect in downtown. A very old-fashion hotel (including ancient elevator). Clean and convenient. Breakfast possibilities very close, and good pub food.

Review 3:Previously we were able to have breakfast before venturing out into the wilds of the central coast, but were disappointed this time to discover that you no longer are able to arm we adventurous wayfarers with an early morning "FUEL-UP"... Such a pity!

Review 4:Friendly & obligiing staff, comfortable room, very clean bathrooms, excellent beer and very reasonable "seniors lunch".We enjoyed travelling in the antique elevator!

Review 5:- Shower and Toilets are shared on the floor but even as the hotel was fully booked you always found a free one. - a bit loud due to railway nearby and trucks

Review 6:- Close to city centre and railway station - Pub downstairs

Review 7:Being central, it was somewhat noisy, with trucks collecting garbage, cars and trains

Review 8:It was basic but all I needed. I loved the old lift although it was a bit of a battle to use with luggage. The place even has a 'writing room'.

Review 9:Everything even the food in the bistro was dreadful

Review 10:They were rude from the start and then found out I had booked a room for 2 but was a single traveller was downgraded to a closet with a single bed it was a disaster I will never stay at hotel Gosford again

Review 11:More restrictions with rules and noise of of other people staying their with noise all hours of the night

Review 12:The staff were very friendly and accommodating excellent customer service

Review 13:I lost money on the Pokies and Keno, lol, Just kidding, I had a great stay and would only be too happy to stay there again.

Review 14:The staff were very helpful and happy, nothing was a problem, I would recommend this Hotel to all of my friends.

Review 15:Parking limited/tight. Noisey. Room a bit stuffy. As an older woman, I don't enjoy the title of "love" or "dear". Just a hint. But probably that is a no win area.

Review 16:enjoyed the meal. Old time atmosphere. Staff efficient/congenial. Convenient distance from freeway. As an older building kept in reasonable repair/condition.

Review 17:Woken up approx 4 am by constant knocking on our door then cont'd for 1 hour on another nearby door.

Review 18:Convenient location, clean comfortable room, excellent food and service in restaurant.

Review 19:The mould smell. They needed to add some room freshner and a fan in the shower and hooks to hang things.

Review 20:Really liked the old traditional decor and roominess

Review 21:The windows are not soundproof, so I can't sleep well at night because I can hear clearly what is going on outside. My room is facing the street. I can't find plugs to charge my phone

Review 22:The staff are friendly. Shared bathroom is clean. Room is comfortable. Great location.

Review 23:No bathroom, lift not working and having to carry suitcases down 3flight of stairs, the unfriendly staff, etc. etc.

Review 24:The taste of the beer in the pub downstairs

Review 25:Wifi was not very stable. The sink was too small for the kettle to fit in.

Review 26:The rooms were clean, neat and quiet even though we were staying over the weekend with the bar below. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel is located near Gosford train station. Shops and restaurants are all within walking distance. Very convenient.

Review 27:The shower heads in ladies amenities need replacing. Need bigger coffee cups in rooms.... Please can I have a mug.

Review 28:Location and no mould for an old building. Really cool old fashion lift that still works.

Review 29:The cleanliness, attention to comfort, and friendliness of staff. The location was ideal for access to the Rail Station and the Gosford Hospital where I was visiting a patient, all of which a very short walking distance. The rooms were magnificent!

Review 30:The bedspread had a mucus stain and should have been washed - that was the first thing I noticed when I walked in the room. The second thing I noticed was that the room had a very musty smell and opening the window did not improve it...so it was off to a bad start. The room wasn't much bigger than a closet but was sufficient for an overnight stay. I wouldn't want to have stayed longer.

Review 31:The price and location were great. It looks like the owners have paid a lot of attention to the externals, hallways, etc but less so inside the actual bedrooms.

Review 32:no airconditioning/heating unit in family rooms with ensuite, free wifi a bit hit and miss in connection

Review 33:location with many different major bank ATMs around, food, live sport on tv, bar/restaurant area,

Review 34:Lift difficult if you had disability or elderly Bit noisy in the morning T towel and dish cloth in the room would be good

Review 35:Comfort would return again Stay 2 night and room was services after 1st night very surprised thanks

Review 36:Sound proofing is a problem. On the 3 occasions I have spent there over the past 10 years, the neighbouring rooms have had boisterous clientele in them. Not too much of a problem, though neighbouring clients have on our last occasion objected. The town of Gosford is sadly a poor shadow of its former self. In many ways it needs a facelift. The old portions of the town such as the railway park has the same fountain as when I went to high school. The rotunda is gone; the fountain is stained and unsightly. Much of its history has been replaced. The large arcades such as Market-town are eye sores. The primary school is gone. The boatshed on the waterfront where my mum and our family worked has long since disappeared. That's progress. I do like to visit the main street each year and your hotel is an endearing feature.

Review 37:The hotel has a nostalgic feel. I lived and played in the north Gosford vicinity for over 20 years. (1954-1980). When I played cricket for Narara and Baseball for the Florida Dodgers my team mate stopped at the hotel for a sherbet. I was probably about 12; Peter Drysdale was about 21. I love history and the grandeur of the staircases, the historical photographs etc produce the warming nostalgic atmosphere when we visit the grand old structure.

Review 38:no airconditoning. Shared bathroom/toilets. Trafic noise and 2 mile coal trains driving through at 0230 for 15 mins 300 yds away.

Review 39:very stylish building with ancient restored elevator.

Review 40:No air conditioning, and it was a very hot day in Gosford. The ceiling fan worked, which was a relief, and would have been nice if I could open the window, but that night a construction crew worked late on some scaffolding across the road, (not hotel gosfords fault)

Review 41:Location is excellent, right off the train, which is a quick 60 minutes north of Sydney. The hotel had a cheap beer night which was great for my wallet but not for my head. Room was comfortable, and ik slept well

Review 42:I liked that the hotel is so close to the train station making it very accessible for me as I don't drive. The bistro with the extensive menu was a bonus and the casual atmosphere was great.

Review 43:lot of noise close to my room. there was no air-condition. it was really hot and muggy that I had to sleep with door open

Review 44:location - close to train station. It is especially convenient especially if u check-in the evenings

Review 45:The bed had a metal plate in the electric blanket that dug into my back. . There was nowhere to sit to have a beer with my son whilst the bistro was not open. They need a place that younger children can sit also.

Review 46:The staff were fantastic, they cleaned our room everyday. Fresh towels and the bed was made. The staff were all a polite and helpful.

Review 47:We stayed here only for one night. Two couples, we got two double rooms for a great price. The rooms were spacious and clean. Toilets and showers were shared but they were in impeccable conditions.

Review 48:Bathroom/toilettes to share. Wifi-signal weak in the room.

Review 49:All in one, bar, restaurant, hotel.friendly staff. Excellen logistics, train and bus as well as aldi and woolies just 200m away.can walk to waterside.

Review 50:No aircon, but if it is not hot weather, it's not a problem

Review 51:Friendly staff, cheap, good WiFi, very close to the railway station. Near supermarket and many cafes. Nice old building and free parking. Valuable hotel for this price.

Review 52:Nothing

Review 53:A great place to stay and close to everything and just few minutes walk from Gosford railway station. For a pub accommodation this is the best I have been in. I only had a single room which meant having to use communal toilets and showers but I found both to be very clean. The food was excellent value and well prepared and presented. All the staff were very polite and always ready to help you if needed.

Review 54:Restaurant closes before 9pm.

Review 55:Wifi.location (1 minute to bus and train).easy Connection to sydney.a short walk to the waterfront. Friendly staff. Bar and restaurant in the house.

Review 56:No air conditioning, hotel although historic needs renovating especially the fittings such as the basin and tiling.

Review 57:Good central location near shops, post office, train station. The pub underneath the hotel rooms is convenient but could be noisy if you need to sleep.

Review 58:I didn't like the redevelopment noise outside the hotel in the main street until the early hours of the morning. The wash basin was old and rusty and didn't have a proper plug that fitted. And watch out for the hot water from the tap. Turn it on and a scalding stream of hot water streams out to burn your fingers. No hangers and no wardrobe is a definite minus.

Review 59:Bed was OK. Maintenance of the historical character was interesting. Seemed very clean.

Review 60:Very noisy the whole night due to the construction site down the street. I could not sleep the whole night. I think they could have just not accepting guests while there was construction happening during night time.

Review 61:Car park

Review 62:Unfortunately very loud renovations coming from across the road at a shopping plaza development - all night. Not the hotel's fault, but we didn't get much sleep.

Review 63:Character hotel, comfortable beds. Shared bathroom but clean and convenient.

Review 64:Attitude of the booking and reservation staff. We were in Gosford to attend a funeral. When we advised that we would need to check out a day early as the family needed us to travel back with them and we wanted to check whether a refund may be possible, we were treated very rudely by the reservations manager who almost made us feel like we were trying to 'scam' them. Fortunately, when we gave the manager some context around our situation, he was more understanding. But the attitude of the woman we dealt with initially was very disappointing.

Review 65:The building was lovely, we loved all the art deco fittings.

Review 66:No hair dryer or shampoo in the room and no access to an iron/ironing board.

Review 67:The location was good as we were attending a function in the CBD and could walk. The room was small but perfectly functional and clean. Excellent value for money. The staff were very friendly. Supermarket just across the street for the things we forgot to bring from home.

Review 68:The bar staff can be uptight on noise. It was grand final night and they weren't fans of cheering supporters.

Review 69:Short stroll to Gosford Station, Bluetongue Stadium and Central Coast Leagues. The food has been outstanding on each of my visits.

Review 70:Room was quite cold and there were no extra blankets. There was no television reception and there were varying comments from the staff including one in the morning that I could have retuned it - I told them that was their responsibility. I did negotiate a $10 refund. Staff seemed more dedicated to running the pub side of the business.

Review 71:Central location, clean, bed quite comfortable.

Review 72:The old lift was a bit hard to handle when you had your arms full with luggage.

Review 73:I was very happy with my stay at this hotel i found it very clean and location suited me fine.

Review 74:We'd have loved a quiet loungeroom to sit and read/relax - unfortunately the only options were noisy bar with football fans or sitting amongst the pokies addicts. There appeared to be unused public rooms on the first floor - perhaps there is capacity for a quiet reading room in the future?

Review 75:We loved: the beautiful old building, kept in good condition and with many period features still able to be enjoyed, including the lift with its double doors and keys to operate it; our room was clean and fresh; the staff were polite and helpful. The shared bathroom was also clean and well serviced. We look forward to returning for another visit.

Review 76:Car alarm in a car parked outside my window that beeped for a long long time at night

Review 77:Location very near Gosford Railway station. In main street close to shops

Review 78:They changed the room I had originally booked as a solo to a tiwn when my son wS coming with me even though they were booked out at short notice and the staff were friendly.

Review 79:Some of the furniture a bit tired but great value for money.

Review 80:Great location.

Review 84:the staff was very quick to please and the premises were very clean

Review 85:Value for money, friendly staff, very clean

Review 86:Old carpert and more power access near beds.

Review 87:Close to everything thing. Very close to Gosford Stadium. Great for visiting A league fans.

Review 88:Mixed up on booking and ended up in room with 2 single beds.

Review 89:Easy to book. Good location.

Review 90:No a/c on a very hot night. Noisy with everyone leaving the pub that night

Review 91:Pub facilities were good

Review 92:Front bar a little rough.
