Review 1：No really good lighting for reading in the room.

Review 2：A modern hotel with great facilities. Previous reviewers have been concerned about the location but we found it interesting to go and look at the fishing harbour. There are some excellent restaurants within easy walking distance and the lovely town centre is a short walk up some steps.

Review 3：The hotel is in a rather shabby area close to the port, which is not the best part of Sciacca. It is a long flight of steps up to the main town. However, this did not detract from our stay.

Review 4：The hotel is really smart, modern and well appointed throughout. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was very good. Parking was easy. The air conditioning was brilliant in the extreme heat (in the 30s).

The rooms where very clean and practically new all the staff that we where involved with where very helpfull and nice. Hotel's parking is excellent and the breakfast was also perfect . I will surely use this hotel again one time or another.

Review 17：I got a notification from booking.com that the update is available for my room for just 4 euros to change it to the room with a balcony. I wrote to the hotel but received no answer . When I got there, she said I could change the room for 10 euros. Does not make any sense !

Review 18：The location - right in the sea shore! Friendly receptionist and very nice breakfast consisting of many fruit, pastry and espresso.

Review 19：The location is horrible. It is located in the lower town near the port, while the main part of town is up a flight of several hundred steps. The street is run down and ugly, nothing else is really there. This is close to unacceptable, but there is really no other comparable choice in Sciacca that I'm aware of.

We had to climb over 200 steps to get the main piazza. Great sunset! The hotel is close to two of the best restaurants in town, which both overlook the fascinating harbor full of fishing boats.

Review 30：Designer lighting scheme OK for the magazines but useless in real life; too dark. Some of their workers covered our hire car with metal dust from a grinder and the receptionist assured me (an architect) that this was no issue and they wouldn't deal with it. Most blew away but the rest turned to rust and embedded in the paint so thanks! You can have a fancy hotel but the service needs to match.

Review 32：Well situated hotel, nice walk to the piazza for all the restaurants and boutiques. The rooms were clean and well maintained and the breakfast was a great start to our day. The best part of our stay was the great staff, especially Zina, amazingly friendly and knowledgeable; always eager to help. Wonderful stay at the Melqart, we will definitely be coming back. Would recommend this hotel.

Review 33：O If not the best, one of the better hotels I have stayed in Europe, bar none. I was very lucky to encounter en ex-pat from NY, of Sicilian ancestry, behind the counter, Zina. She was very helpful with dinner information as well with what to explore in town and on my way back to Catania. 10+!

Review 42：DON'T EXPECT ANYTHING GOOD FROM THIS HOTEL OR ITS STAFF. We were not welome at all from the start. The receptionist was careless, barely said hi and didn't informed us of anything. We had to ask for the internet access and the breakfast time. Complete lack of any enthusiasm to receive us. Not helpful at all, although they did tell us where the beaches were. The hotel is in a bad street, a little bit dodgy. Although it is not too far from the centre, we had to walk up long stairs to get there. The breakfast was extremely poor. The waiter seemed quite rude when we asked for a coffee. The room was a bit dark. The hair dryer fell on the floor by accident and broke. When we informed them about it, they refused to try to fix it and decide to charge us 50 euros. The owner is clearly money oriented and doesn't care of ripping-off his guests. Very unprofessional for a 3-star hotel.

Review 45：One thing you must consider: location is close to town center on map, but it's all upstairs. On the other hand, it's nice to walk down after spending evening in town :) If you're too tired to walk, there's excellent trattoria just across the street. Skip town beach (within walking distance), within 10km drive there are some of the best Sicilian coasts.

Review 46：Very good 3* hotel in a proximity to Sciacca town center and fishing port with a number of restaurants with fresh seafood, bars, etc. Fast internet connection via Wi-Fi is worth mentioning. Get here with a car: no problem with parking and good road connection: you may get to fast road skipping town center traffic.

Review 94：The hotel is a bit of an oasis of modern convenience in what is otherwise a dump (Sciacca). The breakfast was excellent, the staff made coffee to order, there was plenty of fresh fruit, and the staff took real care over topping the buffet up and presenting it well. It is easy to park outside for free and it is relatively easy to find because of the landmark of the harbour. We were given good restaurant recommendations by the receptionist. I would particularly recommend going to the Marina- there is no menu displayed but there is a small informal restaurant which seems family owned where we got an excellent and good value meal sitting out next to the yachts looking up at the old town.

I wouldn't go there as a beach holiday, as no swimming pool and a bit far away from the beach, in case bad weather not much else to do except sightseeing.
