Reviews for Hotel Gennarino

Review 1:No evening dining facilities. Hotel directed us to an excellent restaurant, "Beni's" which served superb food and was brilliant value. This was about 10/15 mins walk away.

Review 2:All staff were very friendly and helpful. Beautifully clean and decorated. Easy to find location. Overall very good value. Although for business, this was a most pleasant stay.

Review 3:Nothing was wrong.

Review 4:The staff was really nice and friendly, the breakfast was abundant and varied. The room was like in a fairytale :) The district was clean and beautiful and all room had a view to the sea.

Review 5:Nothing. Great value for the area. Make sure you walk down to the ocean about a 1/4 mile away.

Review 6:Bed and breakfast feel with adequate parking for rental car. Great area in Livorno, near ocean. Close to Pisa, Lucca, and Tuscany hill towns.

Review 7:Location - to far away from any decent restaurant a good 15 min walk! Stayed 4 nights no wifi for the first 3 although mention couldn't connect didn't seem bothered

Review 8:Very friendly staff, great breakie, nice looking place

Review 9:Breakfast hoice is poor, mostly cakes, no eggs at all. No iron.

Review 10:A very nice looking hotel with a great interior. Feels like home with a little extra. Would recommend to anyone! Staff was very helpful and friendly. Free parking on site.

Review 12:nothing

Review 13:Very friendly owners/staff. Every day started with a smile. Breakfast was very good. Good location not far from the sea. A busstop just in front of the hotel. It felt like home.

Review 14:Opposite a military academy it's setting is not particularly picturesque.

Review 15:Set in a lovely building this is a good value hotel. The English owner and all staff were extremely helpful. Good advice on places to eat.

Review 16:Would be good to offer a self service washing machine and dryer

Review 17:A great family run place. Beautifully restored and maintained Incredible hospitality from the family Location was amazing near the beach and easy walk into town Great referral to Chez Rene for dinner

Review 18:The location - far from the centre necessitating though transport to a good restaurant (owned by one of the family), was provided.

Review 19:The staffcwere helpful and friendly - two were actually English

Review 20:All EXELENT. Biutiful hause garden & room. Good parcking. Very good breakfast. Very frindly & helpful staf. Quite place & confy to the farry.

Review 21:The sisters are fabulous! They made us feel welcome the second we walked in the door. They were always willing to help us with any questions, requests we had. We were sad to leave.

Review 22:Poor breakfast. English people do not eat cake for breakfast, only for afternoon tea or as desert after dinner. We expect something hot like Eggs,Bacon, Sausages, Potatoes, etc, etc( Proper food to start the day.!)

Review 23:nothing special. your hotel was as would be expected as *** star

Review 24:No lift weak wifi in the room

Review 25:Room comfortable and well maintained, convenient location close to the port of Livorno from us on a ferry to Corsica, basic breakfast but reasonable, the service was excellent from Josephine and the rest of the team, she even graciously submitted concern us an early breakfast in particular to be able to reach in time for the ferry!

Review 26:Leaving

Review 27:Nicely situated with attentive service. Recommended. Livorno itself is seriously underrated. Neither Pisa nor Florence (thank God),it is unjustly neglected. Good food, reaonable prices, really nice people and a Medici fortified port. Go for it!

Review 28:Nothing.

Review 29:Hotel Gennarino has beautifully decorated furnishings with wood floors and Venetian glass chandeliers. The Gennarino family members were all very helpful, accommodating, and warm when asked about local restaurants, places to visit, etc. Every morning they made me a double espresso. The breakfast always included fresh fruit, delicious local pastries and cakes, cheese, bread, thinly sliced ham, and fresh squeezed juices. Sitting on the veranda and outdoor patio was very relaxing. The hotel is also conveniently located. From the Livorno Centrale station, I took the twenty-minute no. 1 bus, which traveled through the town to the coastline and stopped right in front of the hotel (near the Naval Academy). The hotel sells the 1-day (3 euros) and the 3-day (5 euros) bus pass that is convenient on all Livorno buses. I saw most of Livorno by riding buses 1, 2 and 8. With this Livorno pass, one can also get discounts at some restaurants and museums. There is also free parking in back of the hotel, which is surrounded by elegant homes. The wireless signal was strong. I would definitely stay here again!

Review 30:I don't like the shower it wasn't enough water and you cannot mix the hot water to the cold water..

Review 31:The hotel is good and clean.. The breakfast is really good.

Review 32:Great location if you have Livorno as centre for visiting other places like; Pisa, Lucca, Florence and taking the boat to Corsica or Sardinia. But the hotel is on a busy street with the military academy outside.

Review 33:The building, rooms, breakfast was of high quality and all well organized. The family running the hotel is lovely and their service outstanding!

Review 34:This hotel is definitely worth it if you stay in Livorno, it's a bit further from the city center but the comfort and the service make up for that. The personel is great, very friendly and willing to help with anything, they will even get you desired food for breakfast if you have food alergies. I haven't experienced such a great service in any hotel so far.

Review 35:Couldn't connect to the wi-fi at all no matter how many times we tried and felt lost without Internet!

Review 36:Great location, ideal for the beach. Friendly family run hotel which was very clean and had a great choice for breakfast. Great shower!

Review 37:The only downside is the lack of a lift BUT this is currently being constructed, and help with bags readily available.

Review 38:Super friendly family run hotel with much thought for the comfort and needs of their guests. Would strongly recommend the hotel and would certainly stay again if in the area. Free parking ,Wi-Fi and excellent breakfast included in the price. Great value for money.

Review 39:The family-run hotel - very friendly and accommodating owners. You can see influences of English - the proprietress comes from England. I do not remember the name but it is the soul of the hotel - best regards. Very good breakfast - you can also eat in the garden, nicely furnished rooms. I would recommend. Anna

Review 40:City of Livorno not complitely what expected ( but that has nothing to do with the hotel of course)

Review 41:Lovely and very really helpful staff (ready to do the extra-mile) A family business and you feel the difference. Hotel and rooms lovely and clean. We had several children with us (7-16 yrs) and they also loved the hotel (and staff). Good breakfast and exellent coffie.

Review 42:What a fantastic hotel. Family friendly and fabulous owner. Highly recommend for overnight to Corsica or Sardinia. Just perfect after a train ride ride from Milan. Owner had breakfast ready for our early departure and snacks for the ride too. We will return!

Review 43:cleaning woman who opens the door shouting "tarde tarde" as we were half hour late for the check out !!!!! difficult to connect to internet in the rooms (in fact we never managed to get a connection)

Review 44:perfect if you are travelling and plan to stop for a night in Livorno . good size rooms . free parking . friendly landlady who speaks perfectly english . good service at reception . dog friendly . We looked for a 3 star hotel and that is what you get .

Review 45:Had problems getting wi-fi.

Review 46:Staff were very helpful and enthusiastic, good breakfast. Could walk into the historic center, much more to Livorno than we thought.

Review 47:Limited options for breakfast unless you like eating home made cakes. Nothing interesting in the area. Could not find a good restaurant for dinner.

Review 48:Excellent coffee.

Review 49:Not the best continental breakfast. Old fashioned decorated. No elevator

Review 50:Good location, excellent staff!!

Review 51:generaly - it's a good choice

Review 52:No Lift to upper floors. A little far from Livorno's restaurants.

Review 53:Clean, comfortable accommodation with responsive English owner.

Review 59:Mainly continental breakfast

Review 60:Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 61:Small windows, not enough light

Review 62:Location, amenities, architecture of the hotel, very helpful staff

Review 63:no elevator (with a child it is a problem)

Review 78:Warm water issues (quickly resolved though)

Review 79:Italian flair & style Good breakfast with real coffee (from the bar) Location

Review 80:the style of the hotel, exactly as i viewed it on the web site.

Review 81:Very nice family hotel, good facilities and very cozy Excellent helpful staff Loved outside breakfast area

Review 82:Bed for the third person is uncomfortable

Review 83:tasty and perfect breakfast, familiar atmosphere, very friendly service, cosy room

Review 84:Could not access the hotel's new wifi system which was disappointing.

Review 85:Great service and accommodation - have returned many times.

Review 86:Delicious staff, incredible breakfast, clean and quiet.

Review 87:A very warm welcome. Superb breakfast. Excellent room. Safe parking.

Review 88:No cooked breakfast

Review 89:Excellent staff, very friendly

Review 90:Two teenagers at the front desk at our arrival. They did not pay attention to me as I wanted to check in. The next morning we left early, before breakfast. We had paid for our stay the night before. A woman spoke to us through a window as we were driving from the parking lot. Asking why we did not have breakfast and if we had paid for our stay. She told us to wait so she could check if everything was paid for! Not very professional if you as me.

Review 91:Excellent location close to the Port of Livorno and the historic centre (centro storico). The staff were extremely helpful and friendly in this family run hotel and they provided a superior breakfast.

Review 92:We prefer soft pillows.

Review 93:Terrific family run establishment. friendly and very helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. We arrived very hot and thirsty. The lovely Nonna made us tea with delicious homemade cakes. Very well appointed public and bedrooms. Convenient for amenities.

Review 94:Maybe just size of triple room which was a little small for 3 people.

Review 95:The hotel is very nice, in beautiful location, well maintained, carefully and nicely furnished. Room was very clean. Breakfast good. Staff & owners very friendly and professional.

Review 96:Very difficult to find! (Nearly gave up after 4 circles of Livorno oneway streets from the port).

Review 97:Excellent reception: even ordered us a meal in so did not have to go outin rain! Very attractive decoration. Best breakfast spread we have seensince Spanish Paradores! Best stay of our trip!

Review 98:Was not impressed with the town of Livorno.

Review 99:Hotel was impeccable. Clean and comfortable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Close to bus stop and beach.

Review 100:It was a pitty that the airco in room 10 did not get the room temperature below 26 C, while the outside temperature was lower. Windows could not be left open because of musquito's (no wire netting or fly screens). It was literally a hot night.

Review 101:Very kind personel, good breakfast, well spoken english, stylish building

Review 102:There was nothing that I disliked.

Review 103:Excellent breakfast. Extremely friendly and obliging staff. Near bus stops and beach. Nice little garden area where in good weather you can have breakfast.

Review 104:We were greeted by being told that the staff were not aware of our booking (done 3 hours earlier due to change of plans) until 5 minutes earlier. Perhaps that is why we were given rooms 14 and 24 that had a continuous smell of sewer gas throughout the night. After finishing our breakfast, at 9 am, we were told to bring our luggage down so that the rooms could be cleaned by 9:30 staff-even though check out was not at 9 am. For the price we paid, $130 Euros (and our friends-150 E) we would have to say it was not good value for the money.

Review 105:We were offered help with our luggage as our rooms had no elevator access since it is under construction. The owners were most helpful in answering questions about where to walk, what routes to take to old town, and about the flea market. Staying in this area exposed us to the architecture somewhat unique to Italy-'Liberty' architecture. It was interesting to think of these villas being owned by families throughout the past 100+ years.

Review 106:Lovely house, nicely decorated, in a very nice location. The staff we saw belongs to the same family who owns the hotel, all very friendly. Unfortunately we had to take the ferry early in the morning and did not have enough time to enjoy breakfast.

Review 107:very noisy air conditioning (and in the middle of summer couldn't do without it), and very poor WiFi access to Internet: very slow and sometimes didn't work at all

Review 108:warm welcome, large comfortable bed, good selection at breakfast

Review 109:The family run Hotel Gennarino was a delight to stay. The family welcomed us and all guests like they were old friends and nothing was too difficult or too much that was requested of them. The courtyard and breakfast area was a wonderful area to begin the day with a relaxing familiar feel and friendly atmosphere. I would recommend this hotel to all who want comfort and a warm and welcoming feel to their stay.

Review 110:The air-conditioning was ineffective and keeping the windows open for fresh cool air meant we couldn't sleep with all the noise of the traffic on the busy road just below. We left the hotel feeling exhausted rather than refreshed!

Review 111:The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful, serving an early breakfast before our ferry to Corsica.

Review 112:- Just be aware that people with children and disabilities only have stairs to get to the rooms.

Review 113:- Localization - The owners were really nice, hepful and professional - The room was excellent - The breakfast is great and served in the garden

Review 114:No minus points at all

Review 115:Very friendly and helpful staff, particularly the family who run the hotel. Good quality traditional style and fittings in spacious room. Good breakfast

Review 116:A bit noisy location due to heavy road traffic Well kept but a bit old fashion furniture/bathroom

Review 117:Location Atmosphere (old seafront villa) Family small hotel atmosphere Large room

Review 118:The hotel is opposite a mitary facility which obscures seaviews. The ambience is quite hectic if you want peace and quiet but great if you are a family with kids.

Review 119:a family run hotel, very friendly with English spoken well as owners originally Brits. Walk to local bars with happy hours.

Review 120:It was not on the water as I thought, it was across the street. Therewasn't a water view as the Italian naval academy was directly across thestreet but it was clean and nice and a short walk to the water.

Review 121:Maybe the wi-fi could have stronger signal for1st floor. But witha patience it was possible to connect to every webpage you want.In bathroom there was for three people only few hooks or holdersfor towels.

Review 122:Hotels´ look is really wonderful, it looks like castle, and inside it´salmost castle as well. Rooms are adequately large, beds are prettycomfortable. We also liked bathroom, a lot of space in it. Forbreakfast, we had a lot of choice. There was a small garden for eatingoutside. Personal is really pleasant, one of those nice women is reallyinterested in customers, every problem is solved. Also I should mentionthat hotel has its own parking place, for cca 10-12 cars. Hotel is neara beach, but its better to visit another one, further then this. Onreception of hotel, they recommend you places to visit. We slept therefor 3 nights, and certainly, we would come back :-)

Review 123:This is a family owned hotel and they treat you as if you are the theirrelative. Good breakfast, especially in comparison with other Italianhotels we stayed. The location is good if you travel by car (freeparking), but it is not in the center of Livorno, so without a car thisdoes not make sense. The beach is close, so when discovering Tuscany, you have an option to swim in the sea in the morning or in the evening. The villa itself is beautiful and it stands among similar beautifulbuildings. The room is quite big (for a 3 star) and clean.
