Reviews for Hotel Aliai

Review 1:Exterior a little worn. Stairs creaky with worn carpet. Solar hot water didn't provide enough hot water. Breakfast the least enjoyable for our 9 night trip.

Review 2:Location on the waterfront. Top floor room had balcony overlooking water. 3 excellent restaurants on this waterfront. Also on Fri/Sat night the young ones have a passegiata along the waterfront, while oldies walk the piazza up in town. To get up to town it"s 250 steps, and the view is great. The streets are clean, cafes good, and people welcoming and friendly. Sciacca is a great town.

Review 3:Lovely house in very relaxing location, 5 mins drive from both the Villa Romane Casale and the old town of Piazza Armenira. Wonderful welcome from the owners, good and generous breakfast (including home made pancakes and muffins), and really nice room (double with balcony and sofa). Overall a very nice and enjoyable overnight stay and would stay again.

Review 4:Mosquitos....after rain. ..bitten! Very helpful staff but little English spoken. Ignore route guidance...best way to hotel is the port road !!

Review 5:Good situation for the West coast.

Review 6:Didn't like the location very much, facing the port but a bit dingy. Furniture in room very dark and heavy looking. Terrace a bit grim - bare apart from a couple of rickety chairs.

Review 7:The surrounding area is actually pretty scruffy, not so pleasant for walking around, and it's a long and steep walk to the town proper. Some upkeep is required - the stair carpet is badly worn through in spots, and is probably dangerous. Breakfast was just adequate and short of expectations.

Review 8:We chose to stay on the port, near a restaurant we wanted to eat in. Check-in was easy, parking was easy, room was well appointed and comfortable. And the port itself is interesting, even pretty as dusk falls.

Review 9:Some updating of decor needed eg fraying carpets on stairs

Review 10:Helpful friendly reception staff Lovely view from the balcony Characterful room Charm of surrounding area- not touristy Lovely Scaccia itself

Review 11:Noisy. Every time a door is opened a loud buzzing noise occurs that is heard throughout the hotel. Also, even from our room on the second floor we could hear the telephone and talking from the reception.

Review 12:There was a little more road noise than we care for, but we're from the country and used to quiet. It probably wouldn't bother most people.

Review 13:This is probably one of the cleanest hotels we have ever stayed in. The staff was friendly and very helpful. They spoke English well.We were able to walk up to the town which had beautiful ceramics and quaint bars everywhere. Breakfast was plentiful and very good, we would go back if the opportunity presents itself.

Review 14:The main town is set back and further up the hill, so to go into town for sightseeing or for restaurants involved a decent climb up steps from the harbour. It is not easy to navigate through the streets to the harbour through the town and one way system. The map on the website could definitely be better!

Review 15:The hotel was close to the harbour, and a couple of nice restaurants. The room on the top floor had a lovely balcony area. We felt the hotel was excellent value for money

Review 16:The room and bathroom were so small that you continually banged into furniture. The guy at the front desk offered no general information, no map and no advice on dinner or what to see on arrival.

Review 17:The breakfast space and staff

Review 18:the first night we had booked the only room left, which was on the ground floor. The room had a tiny window under the ceiling, was a bit like being in a basement. Close to reception and noisy. The bathroom had some plumbing issues with a rather strong sewer smell coming up. Management thanked us for informing them, and I suspect this has been remedied. Ask for a room with harbour view, that was lovely!

Review 19:Nicely situated hotel right on the harbour next to some excellente restaurants. Easy walk up to the historical center if you can handle many steps. The parking was great. Hotel was easy to find. Great rooms with harbour view. Great breakfast with fresh ham and bread. Really helpful service at reception eventhough some members of staff spoke little English, they were really helpful in recommending beaches and booking restaurants in the area. Nice clean rooms and bathrooms. Pretty wooden furniture and beams. Would definitely recommend.

Review 20:The hotel is clean, well-appointed and in a lovely spot next to the small yachting harbour. In the summer months there is a park and ride service that leaves from just I front of the hotel so you don't have to plunge into the interesting one-way system. The reception staff are able to give good advice and where to eat, what to see or where to swim. We were sorry we could stay just one night, but not surprisingly they were fully booked. I would thoroughly recommend the hotel.

Review 21:The room was large, clean and well kept. Breakfast was good.

Review 22:Staff was arguing loudly regularly, rooms clean but outdated. Noisy.

Review 23:WIFI didn't work properly.

Review 24:Good location, easy parking and comfortable bed. Good value for money.

Review 25:Nothing

Review 26:Good facilities, very clean and good breakfast. Staff was very friendly and helpful

Review 27:only Italian-style breakfast

Review 28:helpful staff, free carpark in front of the hotel, balcony

Review 29:The staff was very helpful and the location of the hotel is excellent .

Review 30:The private balcony

Review 31:Room,city,breakfast

Review 32:Seaview room with some nice old furniture. Comfortable bed, good shower and attractive breakfast room.

Review 33:lovely views over harbour and easy parking.

Review 34:Water in shower not always warm

Review 35:Location View from balcony Stalk

Review 36:breakfast was poor in as much it was consistant every day

Review 37:No negatives mentioning.

Review 38:Location, Beautiful view, very very helpful staff, wonderful restaurant within walking distance,Easy parking.

Review 39:Nothing.

Review 40:Delightful hotel in a lovely location. Room very nice, overlooking the harbour; large well equipped bathroom. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Free parking opposite hotel. Good breakfast. Free Wi-fi. Would recommend.

Review 41:This small hotel is by the yacht marina and our comfortable room had a balcony and a view of the boats. Admittedly there is a climb of 245 steps to reach the main square, but the trade off was that there was free and easy parking by the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful and breakfast was a typical Italian offering including croissants with the coffee being particularly good.

Review 42:The breakfast was very poor, mainly packaged food.

Review 43:Great location with a large view balcony. The room was basic but very clean. Free parking across the road

Review 44:Pleasant location near fishing port but close to steps (200) to main piazza of the town. The hotel is small and friendly. Our seaview room was comfortable and reasonably sized. The staff were very helpful and we were served a good breakfast with fresh orange juice and plenty of choice.

Review 45:The management and staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They were also responsive and helpful with regard to a small medical problem that arose. The position of the hotel opposite the fascinating working harbour and near the steps (providing pleasant exercise and views) to the upper town is good. We also recommend the very near Ristorante Italia.

Review 46:The restaurants around the Hotel were not great! The location of the Hotel is nice but a bit out of the way from shopping.

Review 47:The hotel is great! Breakfast was wonderful. Staff is great.

Review 48:We weren't informed that they were doing a major renovation on all of the rooms, so when we returned to the hotel, they were still working on the other rooms. We're not certain, but we may have been the only guests that day. It would have been nice to know when we made the reservations that this renovation was taking place.

Review 49:We were greeted by very pleasant staff that told us our room would be ready for us in 30 minutes, and then he showed us on a map a walk we could take to pass the time. We did this walk and our room was ready for us upon our return. Our room was very clean and we had a balcony to sit out and enjoy the view - if the view was a bit better this would have been even better. It looked across the street to the parking lot and where people kept their boats. This area could be so beautiful with a little planning. The staff was very helpful, there is no lift, so they took our suitcases up and down the stairs for us. We wish them well, they are making a very nice small hotel.

Review 50:It is 250 steps up to get to the old, main bit of the town!

Review 51:A nice small hotel with friendly, helpful staff. It is less than 100yards from Ristorante Italia which has the best food we have had in 2weeks in Sicily - the only thing to eat there is fish, and it iswonderful and very, very good value. The family who run Italia couldnot be nicer.

Review 52:The shower's quite small, but then, I'm quite tall.

Review 53:Lovely view, helpful staff, writing desk in the room, beautifully decorated. And they were happy to keep my bicycle safe in the courtyard overnight.

Review 54:Wi-Fi did not work in our room. We had to stay downstairs in the Lobby to have internet.

Review 55:We have stayed the second time at this hotel. The staff are very helpful. There is ample parking in front of the hotel. Very good breakfast. We definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 56:Nice hotel below the town facing the yacht harbor ( not the commercial harbor) so quieter. Good views from the 2nd floor balcony and a a fantastic restaurant just down the street recommended by the friendly staff. Easy to find with gps and a good location to explore the mountain villages inland.

Review 57:The same breakfast food 7 days in a row. No variations at all. :(

Review 58:That the staff is friendly, place is quiet, location was just right for me. Reminds me of a home and not a hotel.

Review 59:The hotel is very very difficult to find. The breakfast area is quitesmall as there are only 4 tables for the 14 rooms. The seaside isreally only a small fishing port with the nearest "beach"about 2 km away.

Review 60:Friendly staff and quaint outdoor breakfast garden. Plenty of parkingjust across the street in front of the hotel. Also, an excellent fishresteraunt Nino's only 5 minutes walk. The town centre is also verynear by for the hardy who are willing to climb approximately 250 stepsup the escarpment.

Review 61:Hotel just next to road-noise-and fences opposite. Harbour nothing to talk about.

Review 62:Very helpful stuff and good breakfast for italy. Bars and restaurants close by.

Review 63:The waterview from our room was nice but there is a yard with old boats right in front of the hotel. Of special note on the good side, Maria Concetta set up a wine and cheese event that was amazing!!!

Review 64:Hotel Aliai - excellent value for the price. We love being around boats and ports and there was constant fishing boats coming in and out. Everytime a boat came in to drop off its fish load, locals would come to barter for the fish. Don't miss restaurant Porto San Paolo for its food, value and gorgous view!! It is one of the best restaurants during our 2 week stay in Sicily and only a five minute walk from the hotel.

Review 65:Bit of a walk to the city centre. Breakfast was very average

Review 66:Nice top floor room with terrace looking over the harbour. Easy parking right outside hotel

Review 67:No lift and two flights of steep rather poorly lit stairs but this wasjust a niggle not a major hassle.

Review 68:Small friendly hotel, pleasant, quiet room with balcony view overadjacent harbour. Quiet airconditioning that could be left running allnight without disturbing our sleep.

Review 69:The 247 steps to the centre of Sciacci

Review 70:Great Wi-Fi and accessible car parking,

Review 71:Convenient overnight stop. Lovely little fishing village. Humble little restaurant next door which offers superb value.

Review 72:very difficult to find the hotel

Review 73:the room, staff and food

Review 74:Nice staff, nice view, good value

Review 75:Too dark, hot, small room and bathroom, no lift and too many mosquitos!

Review 76:good local fish restaurant

Review 77:We felt so welcome at this lovely and cosy hotel.Very friendly staff. We got a charming room with a balcony and a nice view of the harbour.

Review 78:All fabulous, would recommend to anyone

Review 79:.Friendly and efficient welcome good parking and staff very helpful

Review 80:Uphill walk to town

Review 81:Location at the marina. Near supermarket

Review 82:Hotel location in harbour, convenient for restaurants on harbour front. Price is very good value.

Review 83:the location was lovley and the hotel was excellent
