Reviews for Onomichi Kokusai Hotel

Review 1:The hotel seems to be in the middle of nowhere -- not close to thetrain or ferry. They send a shuttle to pick you up anytime you want, but then for departing you can only take their scheduled shuttles. Ineeded to leave early that morning so I had to take a bus to get backto the train station.

Review 2:My room was huge, especially by Japanese standards. One of the staff wasextremely helpful and gave me all the information I needed to do theShimanami Kaido Bikeway the next day (which was great because touristinformation was closed by the time I arrived in Onomichi).

Review 3:It's little bit of a walk from the station but they do offer a shuttle bus service. Wasn't a problem for us but might be more of an issue in the case of bad weather.

Review 4:Cheap, comfortable, perfectly adequate.

Review 5:The room is small and the 2p bed is small too. At first, the hotel advised me that I could have a room for my family of 3 but caught by surprise at last minute that they did not have such room, nor can I add in a bed inside the room. Instead they offered me 2 double rooms for my family of 3 but charged at 2 double room cost. If I have known this beforehand, my booking can negotiate for a lower cost ie 1 single person and 1 double person room.

Review 6:The location is good and free shuttle bus offer is good between hotel and train station. The staff is friendly and very helpful to identify sight seeing spots. The hotel has a carpark that offers free parking for bicycle. Ideal for cycle tour at Onomichi and the islands around.

Review 7:The dinner retaurant at the hotel closed at 8 pm. This was too early to us.

Review 8:We went to Onomichi for bicycling across the islands. Onomichi was a very nice city, and the Kokusai hotel satisfied all our wishes for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was great, the staff was very nice. We borrowed bicycles from the hotel, something we really appreciated. We also appreciated the Shuttle bus to the Onomichi-shin railwaystation.

Review 9:A bit too far too walk from the Onomichi station or the Shin-Onomichi shinkansen station. Need to grab a taxi if you have luggage

Review 10:The lobby and hallways have been newly revamped, and as the hotel is older the rooms are also a tad larger than the norm in Japan.

Review 11:There wasn't anything I didn't like about the hotel itself, but I wanted to comment that there aren't a ton of restaurants in the area, so your food choices may be a bit limited if you want to eat in very close proximity to the hotel.

Review 12:The hotel was very clean and modern, and the rooms were equipped with everything anyone might need. As for the location, it's hard for me to judge, since we took a taxi from Shin-Onomichi Station to the hotel then got picked up the next day by a friend. Onomichi Station is not far from the hotel but may be a bit far to walk for travelers with a lot of luggage. We had dinner at the hotel, and it was very good.

Review 13:Size of the room was very small and it was a long walk from the station. They say they offer a pick up service from the station but I left this request in the booking and it didn't happen.

Review 14:The lady on reception when we arrived was excellent. Pity that was the only time we saw her!

Review 15:Perhaps not as close to the station as we would have liked. A distance from Shinkansen station if you are coming that way but we did get a free shuttle service to the local station so perhaps we just were not made aware of a pick-up.

Review 16:Very economical accommodation for a one to two night stay. Rooms small but clean and comfortable. Nice restaurant in hotel.

Review 17:They know hos to take care of bikes and bikers

Review 18:to far from center, little room

Review 19:Friendly staff, clean hotel

Review 20:long walk from the train station. .

Review 21:has a shuttle from the hotel to the station and back

Review 22:Bed was a bit small and not so comfortable

Review 23:Very friendly staff Free bikes from hotel

Review 24:Dussapointed with hotel restaurant for dinner

Review 25:Staff were extremely helpful & friendly

Review 26:The double room was a bit too small for 2 people with 2 luggages.

Review 27:Clean rooms and basic facilities.

Review 28:Just not sea view and no shuttle bus services of hotel at night time

Review 29:Small but good facility and cleanliness with staff services. Value for money!!

Review 30:Poor location, high price, very small room.

Review 31:Excellent staff.

Review 32:Room very small

Review 33:Location good

Review 34:Nothing

Review 35:Difficult to pin point as everything was perfect for our stay

Review 36:A little ways out from center of city, but an easy (maybe 10-15 minute) walk to the train station.

Review 37:Quiet, clean. Good Japanese breakfast (cost about $12 extra).

Review 38:The price was expensive (room and breakfast) and the room was smaller than the normal Japenese hotel.

Review 39:Wonderful staff who went the extra mile. Front desk was very helpful all around from the room to recommendations of restaurants. The room was cozy and the bed comfortable. There was a humidifier in the room that was very useful as we traveled during the winter and ran the heat. Parking was included in the coat of the room.

Review 40:A bit far to walk from Onomichi station with child but you can request for free shutter bus to pick up and take you to the station.

Review 41:All staffs very good service. Free bike can ride to downtown. And free shutter bus to pickup and take us to JR station.

Review 42:- It's location is horrible, somewhere next to a large road. It was a sad place to stay. - It's staff speaks poor english - The hotels parking lot is too small, so we had to park further away - The restaurant on the upper floor is really dated and looks like 1980 Russia. - we thought this hotel was quite expensive, yet just only average in accomodation facilities, and thus not worth the money.

Review 43:The hotel is large and clean.

Review 44:The rooms are small, but enough to sleep, and put luggage. No wifi inthe hotel, but in rooms possibility to connect with Lan if you have yourown computer. If not rent possible for 1,000 ¥ a day. Hotel a little farof the downtown, but possibility to get bike, it's free. Shuttlefree to go to Onomichi Station for the check out. The staff is perfect.

Review 45:Fairly small hotel room but I would expect as much in Japan.

Review 46:Bicycle rental was very convenient. Great customer service! Thebreakfast was delicious as well. Will come back.

Review 47:The only downside is that it's a good 20-25 minute walk from town. But otherwise fine location close to the water and a couple of restaurants close by.

Review 48:The hotel was quite nice, very comfortable and clean. The staff were very friendly, only a little bit of English spoken but willing to help so communicated our needs eventually. They were happy to hold our luggage for an extra night while we rode our bicycles across the islands nearby as well which was extremely helpful. Good value for money.

Review 49:Would be nice to have wifi. Room was a bit smallish.

Review 50:Helpful staff, secure lockup for bikes, nice bar.

Review 51:Too far from everything. Required a very long walk or a cab ride. No free in room wifi. Don't they know this is 2014?

Review 52:Very helpful staff.

Review 53:There was no temperature control in the room. It was a little cold.

Review 54:The staff were very friendly and answered any questions I had.

Review 55:It was winter so the room was cold.

Review 56:Location a bit far from the station

Review 57:Good room (Japan standard), Very helpful staff and good value

Review 58:Room we stayed at could do with some new paint etc.

Review 59:Free bike rental
