Reviews for Hotel Torre Di Cala Piccola
Review 1:Stayed in late Oct 2015 just before winter closure. Overpriced & oversold. Restaurant average. Pool closure not advertised. Difficult to find.
Review 2:Good view. Friendly and helpful staff.
Review 3:The warm air condition wasn't working and the room was too cold at night.
Review 4:We liked everything specially the staff, they are too nice and helpfull. The breakfast is amazing and also the restaurant is excellent.
Review 5:Our room was bright and cheerful with a terrace with lovely views. We enjoyed the evening aperatif toasting the sunset over the Mediterranean. Our day swimming down at the beach club was a dream and lots of fun. Lovely breakfast!
Review 6:If you do not have a car you are basically stuck. To go to Porta Stefano for the day they want to charge you 60 euros to take you in the shuttle. It poured the whole time we were there and basically house bound - no laundry facilities as per all Italy.
Review 7:This is a beautiful building in a beautiful area. The menu is limited but well presented and high quality. The views were sensational and most decadent,
Review 8:Very isolated, as such it is difficult to find alternative restaurants. This hotel is perfect for short stays, 2-3 days.i
Review 9:A golden cage, excellent facilities and marvellous views
Review 10:The dining experience is awful. Waiters are very unfriendly and the dining area is desperate for a renovation. Breakfast is terrible for an establishment such as this. But take it all in your stride, focus on the pool and the views and you'll have a good time :-)
Review 11:Situated in one of the best spots you could imagine, the hotel is a great place for a couple of nights. You can watch the sun set with a drink from lovely Renato and fmagical.feel very special.
Review 12:Wi-Fi Very poor charging for everything like parking when there is no other way to get there than car breakfast buffet for sure not a 4 star hotel
Review 13:Location
Review 14:What a gorgeous hotel and location! The views are amazing, and the sunsets from the grassy outdoor bar area just can't be beat. If you go, be sure to rent a car so you can explore this incredible coastline.
Review 15:Service by restaurant staff was extremely poor at breakfast. At check in we were immediately 'sold' half board, €27 for access to sun bathing/swimming cove, €10 per day for using the car park, over priced drinks€16 for two small beers and restaurant food way below par of local restaurants. Management really have to train staff to a higher standard and property requires refurbishment to be close to 4 star. Staff at reception were very helpful and the pool manager was very friendly and professional.
Review 16:Views from hotel are stunning.
Review 17:Lunch menu was poor and not tasteful. Beach is far and you have to pay extra for it. Only old tourists. All the workers looks like they work 24/7 there. Sad but beautiful place for very very reach tourists.
Review 18:View. Widok i basen
Review 19:Restaurant. Rude senior waiter, limited and expensive menu. Food, very average. Due to location you are rather stumped for alternatives.
Review 20:General Manager and barman (Leonardo), location was good as far a view, but a long drive from any other restaurant, along a rough, narrow winding road. Hotel needs a lot of updating.
Review 21:The sunset in the Garden and the rocky beach with the water so clean and bright .. Fabulous .. Very friendly staff .. We really enjoyed (also the restaurant)
Review 22:You're kind of captive in terms of food and I felt as though the restaurant food was a bit overpriced.
Review 23:Setting can hardly be duplicated. Very good service.
Review 24:Absolutely spectacular views and pristine property. Polite, helpful staff. Very clean and comfortable room. Would definitely recommend and love to return!
Review 25:Very expensive and yet our room had not been updated, it seemed, since the 70's except for the flat screen TV. Breakfast was served in the hotel restaurant with lovely views but to expect guests to make their own coffee (espresso, capuccino) from a machine wasn't our idea of how a 4 star property should be run. Staff was indifferent.
Review 26:Amazing views of the sea and coastline. Quiet and isolated.
Review 27:The feeling was that the hotel didn't have adequate service for its category and being offseason: no luggage drop off, poor breakfast. Among all, the hotel is located about 5-10 driving from Porto Santo Stefanoand we arrived early evening: the hotel is aware that there is a missing sign in a strategic cross street and that GPS direction may lead you in the wrong direction. However the concierge didn't seem that they care much when we suggested to implement some extra signage.
Review 28:Panoramic location with great view to Argentario sea. Better to enjoy during summer season
Review 29:No wi-fi in rooms. Charge for use of beach.
Review 30:Quite a lovely 2 day stay. Decent breakfast. Sea-view room with balcony was wonderful. Spectacular scenery.
Review 31:Restaurant had limited options and was high priced. To be expected and the stay was still wonderful.
Review 32:Superb view and the swimming access area is wonderful. Sundown from the garden with some wine is awesome.
Review 33:Finding the place was a challenge and the walk to beach wasn't easy. Actually it was even tougher on the return. Straight up.
Review 34:We just had the most wonderful time at the outdoor bar overlooking sea and at the beach itself. The bartender at the bar I'm sorry I can't remember his name was the best.
Review 35:Staff were extremely professional and that is not meant as a compliment! We were greeted with what we were told was an upgrade to a sea viewroom with balcony which actually meant 'you are sleeping under thedining room and you will be woken at night and in the morning by thescraping of chairs'. They didn't seem very personable and gaveme the feeling I was inconvenient - very unusual for Italy where I havealways been impressed by friendly and attentive service. The prices ofdrinks, car parking, beach etc just made me feel that they were tryingto get every last euro out of me. 27 euro for a spritz and a beer ismore than double what I was paying elsewhere and not even a crisp or anolive to go with it !
Review 36:Location, pool, rock beach were all very good
Review 37:€8 bottle of beer! €50 wine sold for €100! Visit to private beach which is not an actual beach €23! Bad Wifi, Parking not free. Overpriced food which is not of a great standard and certainly not justified by cost. Distance to other options for above. If the air you breathed here could be sold. Or is that putting ideas in someone's head
Review 38:Views location. But you pay for it. In every conceivable way. Helpful Staff.
Review 39:Location may be a bit remote for some people. If you like to be close totown, restaurants and shops, this is not the place for you. However, itcan be very relaxing if you want to be away from everything. We arefrequent travellers who have been in many leading hotels of the world. As we own an italian restaurant ourselves, we care about good food andtravel anywhere to find a good spot to eat. Unfortunately, we hate tosay, food at this location is substandard, lackluster and bland, reflecting a chef and management without any real desire to raise abovemediocracy and staying up to date. Compared to other hotels even classeslower, breakfast was skimpy- service is substandard , eg. Lacking realvariety (E.G. Different cakes- Same bland pastry dough, no variety intextures and flavors) service is slow, many times plates cups, etc. weremissing at buffet area. If you want a good cup of coffee brewed freshly, not from the self service machine, you have to pay 3.00 euro! What a Ripoff- in most hotels this is complimentary. The worst part is : dinnermenu is way overpriced, almost an insult- especially for thedisappointing food you get. When we complained about the food, we didnot get an apology but a "lecture" "that's the way wedo it". - very disappointing. This is probably due to the fact thatthere is no competition around since this place is so remote and theyknow their guests have nowhere else to go. But there are many otherplaces in italy and the world which are more hospitable and dont try tosneak in extra charges whenever they can. For this reason we willprobably not return. Overall - Hotel not up to pace with other hotels ofthis class, really a shame, since it has great potential!
Review 40:Although a bit of a pain to get to, Location is very nice, splendidviews overlooking the island and coast, walk to beach, free shuttle tobeach, nice pool, rooms are clean and spacious, although shower could bea bit larger. Bar service outside was very slow except for serverRenato, who was really wonderful.
Review 41:Suite was large with great view but otherwise shabby. No gym! Service/food in restaurant sub-par and pricey.
Review 42:Staff were very attentive and professional. Pool was great.
Review 43:The only negative point is that the hotel charges too many extras: the restaurant is overpriced, five Euros for wi-fi and extras to access the beach are honestly a bit disturbing....
Review 44:Fantastic location with one of the best sunset. Superb location for aperitif. The hotel is on a cliff and some rooms are hard to access. The only negative point is that the hotel charges too many extras: the restaurant is overpriced, five Euros for wi-fi and extras to access the beach are honestly a bit disturbing....
Review 45:The price - food and drinks very overpriced for what it was, compared to restaurants we had eaten in across Italy.. The so called beach - crowded and noisy rocks!
Review 46:The service, the peace and quiet, the views.
Review 47:The location is to die for! Beautiful countryside and access to seaside bathing that was crystal clear. Everyone was very helpful and we had a great stay!
Review 48:The restaurant is great quality but very expensive, and without driving there aren't other options within walking distance.
Review 49:The view from the garden is unbelievable. Beautiful to have a drink and watch the sun go down. By the time you wind up the road to the hotel, you feel a million miles away from the rest of the world. The beach is beautiful, and easy to access with the hotel shuttle bus. We are a young gay couple and were made to feel very welcome. The head waiter in the restaurant made us feel very valued every night we ate there.
Review 50:Wouldn't eat in the restaurant - they have this wonderful view from the bar area, but insist on setting the dinner & breakfast in a room that is not impressive. Very expensive meals & much better eating down at the beach club (not part of the hotel) where the food is so fresh & amazing & the prices much cheaper.
Review 51:The view is amazing, lovely room with amazing terrace & view (room 45). The bar on the grass lawn.
Review 52:Everything was perfect -- a little tricky to get to at first if you're driving yourself, but once we arrived we couldn't have asked for a more perfect resort.
Review 53:It would be good if the hotel could provide more information on the local area
Review 54:Amazing views Perfect location - beautiful remote area yet easy access to town
Review 55:Restaurant prices too expensive.
Review 56:Great views and tranquility. Beautiful sunset.
Review 57:Having to leave !!
Review 58:It's paradise !!!!
Review 59:Wonderful location and helpful staff
Review 60:the additional cost for the beach
Review 61:the view, the outdoor bar, the serenity, the private beach, the helpful staff
Review 62:Excellent throughout , fantastic cliffside location
Review 63:certain public spaces an check in , noisy aircon
Review 64:the staff , the location , the private beach ,
Review 65:The views are superb! Stunning location and hotel, would highly recommend for a truly relaxing holiday!
Review 66:Restaurant expensive and not much attention to detail for price ( e.g. veg brought out before fish main so cold)
Review 67:Location and views
Review 68:No olive, vegetables not butter for breakfast.
Review 69:No phone reception and poor wifi.
Review 70:Lovely staff. Nice getaway. The little beach down the hill was fun, and the views beautiful.
Review 71:The hotel restaurants were not great and there is nothing else close by.
Review 72:Beautiful views.
Review 73:The views are amazing
Review 74:The location and the scenery/views were unbeatable! Plus Cala Piccola was easily accessed and so so perfect. We loved our stay!
Review 75:Great location Great staff
Review 76:Neighbors partying loudly and late. The management got involved and solved the issue. The so called "beach" ws non existent
Review 77:Facikity
Review 78:not easy to find :)
Review 79:perfect view and location
Review 80:Views of isola Giglio and the sea were outstanding.
Review 81:Beautiful location overlooking the sea. Wonderful cove for swimming.
Review 82:restaurant so overpriced and lame getting there was a chore
Review 83:waking up and looking out
Review 84:Steps for my mother
Review 85:Watching the beautiful sunset before dinner
Review 86:Expensive restaurant with little alternative as nearest town fair drive away, a cheaper bar menu would have been helpful as there were a lot of extras to the bill, a 27euro daily beach cost bumped up the cost. We swapped rooms as broken door handle and toilet and upgraded to another lovely room but paid extra.
Review 87:Amazing location, clean and helpful.
Review 88:wifi was a bit weak and the road getting there has alot of hairpin turns so i wouldn't want to drive after dark
Review 89:sunsets were brilliant, room #9 had best views, REstaurant had a good menu and and they were willing to let us go off menu. Staff was super
Review 90:The attached restaurant's prices are fairly high ( same with the lunch cafe). We ate there the first night simply because we didn't want to deal with driving the hilly road to the hotel in the dark. Much better value for the price can be found in the towns nearby.
Review 91:The view from the hotel is spectacular. The rooms were airy and clean. The infinity pool overlooking the ocean was wonderful. The hotel is located a 10 or so minute drive from two nearby towns, and 20 minutes from two lovely beaches. The included breakfast buffet is tasty and very generous.
Review 92:The room was a bit damp and smelly.
Review 93:I liked the pool and panoramic views towards giglio island. And the receptionist/trainee Elena. My girlfriend liked the pool guy. I liked breakfast with prosecco.
Review 94:Isolated location that was hard to find.
Review 95:Unbeatable location with gorgeous view and helpful staff. The rooms were fine but nothing special. The breakfast that was included was very good.
Review 96:Although not specifically relevant to this review we had appaling experienced with GoldCar care hire. Please do not hold their details on their website.
Review 97:Brilliant location and comfortable hotel.
Review 98:Since I don't speak Italian I thought it was a little difficult to find because the city was confusing to navigate.
Review 99:The hotel was absolutely gorgeous! The view of seaside was one of the prettiest I have ever seen. I was in room #9 and was amazed by the view. It was at the top of a mountain and had a wonderful seaside breeze.
Review 100:clean. Breakfast was great with option to eat outside. location!!! Extremelly Helpfull staff, specially a manager Stefania Marconi the benchmark of excellence in hospitality. If you need to find a place to rest in comfortable, quiet and beautifull ..Best place to stay .5 star location.Restaurant also very good .Master chef in the kitchen.
Review 101:We very much liked the marvelous seaside location on Monte Argentario. Although the usage of the beach has to be paid daily, it offers excellent facilities incl. connected bar and restaurant. And yes the hotel-owned restaurant is expensive, however the hotel staff offers an excellent list of nearby restaurants, mainly in Porto Santo Stefano.
Review 102:- the head waiter the evening we were there, Oct 2nd, and at breakfast, Oct 3rd, could have been more polite and attentive - the grilled dorade was good but a bit over-priced at 64 euros for two half orders - we found out about the price later.
Review 103:- the quiet, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere - the fantastic view - Alessandra at the front desk was most helpful and efficient in every way from the moment we arrived to the time we left. Excellent! - the carpaccio was exquisite.
Review 104:The restaurant was very nice but a bit too pricey. We had a price-fixand although quality, we were left wanting more for the price.
Review 105:Location was a bit out of the way but the view and property was worthit.
Review 106:Drop dead location on the Argentario facing the island of Giglio and theTuscan islands Redesigned gourmet restaurant with excellent chef Verynice cove and beach, superb water
Review 107:WIFI is not free of charge; access to the hotel beach is not free of charge (23 EUR per day); fresh orange juice at the breakfast buffet is not included (4 EUR supplement); sun umbrellas on the breakfast terrace were broken; all this is not acceptable in a hotel of this category and price.
Review 108:The location of the hotel is fabulous, with a splendid view of the seaside, above all from the swimming pool area and from the breakfast terrace. The hotel staff has been friendly and helpful at all times.
Review 109:The quality level of the restaurant at the hotel was disappointing.
Review 110:the private beach was expensive, but woth it, esspecially the restaurant at the beach.
Review 111:No complaints although j feel that beachside chairs & umbrellascould have been free to residents.
Review 112:Lovely location on hilltop with free hotel shuttle bus to bay. Chairs& umbrellas available in an efficient rental system. Room air conand fridge made comfortable stay. Wonderful terrace for breakfast withstunning views.
Review 113:The dinner's were rather pricey.
Review 114:The most wonderful location, the sunsets over the sea from the beautiful terraced gardens were spectacular! Book a sea facing room it is worth it.
Review 115:Trainees had not been introduced how to comunicate and treat customers. Service staff at restaurants was by some individuals very poor, giving the impression being overloaded and stressed. No appologies for serving wrong wine or not even paying attention to newly arrived guests.
Review 116:It was clean and elegant. The view was outstanding. Some service staff was very passionate and therefore made the stay adorable and compensated the experience with other colleagues.
Review 117:For the price the rooms are more like a two star hotel in size and comfort. Only 15cm between the bed and side board, very small shower no cub board to place clothes. The restaurant is very over priced. No wonder the hotel was not busy.
Review 118:The location is wonderful and the views outstanding.
Review 119:Location, location, location!!! Extremelly Helpfull staff. The manager of the hotel is the benchmark of excellence in hospitality. If you need to find a place to rest in comfortable, quiet and beautifull environment - the place is for you.
Review 120:Thought the restaurant was too expensive given that it was the only option since there is nothing in the vicinity of the hotel. Wines by the glass was a joke. For €8 euros you get a quarter glass of wine, wine list is expensive and lacks less expensive, good quality wines.
Review 121:I liked the grounds of the hotel overlooking the beautiful sea. The room we had was comfortable and quiet. The staff were very helpful, and friendly.
Review 122:We arrived four days after the hotel opened for the season, and some renovations were clearly still in progress, including the restaurant. The restaurant was priced like a 5 star, but in reality was more like a 3 - 4 star. Also, we had difficulty finding the property. There were signs along the way (mountain roads), but there was NO SIGN in front of the hotel.... so we kept driving. We passed the hotel twice before finally asking a motorist to show us how to get there.
Review 123:The view from our room was incredible. Rooms were nice, but somewhat dated. If we had stayed more than one night, we might have explored the property a little more.
Review 124:For a hotel of this kind and price, there should be places around the swimming pool for all the guests of the hotel.
Review 125:The beautiful view, the meals in the garden, the architecture of the hotel
Review 126:The room was nice but did not live up to our expectations from the pictures at the website. The restaurant was overpriced, the food was no good at all either for lunch or for dinner. The staff was not nice at all comparing to the receptionstaff. We had lunch twice and dinner once and felt afterwards that we could have better meals anywhere else for half of the price.
Review 127:Location was excellent. The staff in the reception was very serviceminded and did it with a smile. The poolarea was very nice and well kept. Good breakfast. The balcony and the wiev was amazing. We could think about to return to this hotel again because of the location and the wonderful wiev but the restaurantstaff and the food has to improve a lot.
Review 128:The extra costs for fresh juice and other items at breakfast; The additional cost for parking at the beach.
Review 129:Outstanding service from the staff; Great restaurant serving local delicacies and local wines; The view from the pool, rooms and gardens is absolutely stunning; The beach facilities are very decent.
Review 130:The food in the restaurant was absurdly expensive, ten euros for a smallscoop of ice cream, and the main courses came without vegetables orsalad, not were these advertised separately on the menu. The advertised private beach was far from private and cost twenty five euros a day
Review 131:The location the pool, the small beach nearby
The Fine Print
Please note that use of the private beach is for an extra fee.
