Reviews for Grand Court Hotel

Review 1:I was a bit shocked to find about 20 policemen in the lobby when I arrived, due to the troubles. I was unable to walk anywhere because it was dangerous to do so, which meant I had to take taxis everywhere which was very expensive. On Shabbat breakfast was very disappointing...no hot food, lukewarm coffee, less choice and stale bread. The orange juice was distinctly watered down. The hotel employs Christian and Muslim personnel, who could organise a decent breakfast on the Jewish holy day, so that the standard remains acceptable to the tourist.

Review 2:It was comfortable, quiet and clean in the bedroom, with efficient heating/air conditioning. The reception staff were efficient and helpful, and there was a wide choice of food at breakfast. The hotel taxi drivers were also helpful.

Review 3:I guess it is no big deal but the staff at front desk was indifferent when I had questions

Review 4:Location-nicer than the hotel we were in-free basement parking

Review 5:The staff in the reception need to have some education in how to treat customers. I have been staying at this hotel earlier and there no sense of service mind at all . I wonder if they know how to smile ?. As they are the first impression you get from the hotel I think the owners should take a look....

Review 6:A nice Hotel well situated close to the Old City. The room standard is good and the rooms are nice and clean. I felt safe with the security. The whole impression from the stay was very good.

Review 7:I tried to eat breakfast at my room and they didn't let me because i had my driver with me and they weer afraid that ill give him something to eat. So they told me that it's hotel policy to eat only in the ball room, when i checked out i sow that all of my neighbors had eaten in there rooms very rude customer service. i found toothpicks on the floor left from the people before me.

Review 8:Had continues problems with entering the room had to keep going to reception to get my door key sorted. Had to wait more than an hour to check in when I requested a early check in. Requested a room with a view and didn't get one

Review 9:They said at check in pool opens at 8:00 bit it opened at 10 which is kind of late

Review 10:Chef Hassan was really accommodating for my husbands needs as a diabetic for sugar free menu

Review 11:the staff were very helpful. Hotel is clean and well located. Car parking is free, and secure. The breakfast is tremendous and well worth it. Hotel has free wifi throughout and there are also 6 computers available free of charge

Review 12:Ordered hotel's taxis to airport at 3am they didn't arrive are were $100 more expensive. Staff not taking responsibility for their mistakes on reservations or taxis

Review 13:Hotel facilities and dining room were fine. Kitchen staff were good

Review 14:The free WIFI was poor which was not our experience from our prior visit. I would not characterize the attitude of the staff as "friendly".

Review 15:Within walking distance of the Old City. Close to light rail station. Very comfortable.

Review 16:It was a little bit too far from the city centre. The pool opened too late in the morning (I love morning swimming!).

Review 17:The pool was nice, and the breakfast was great. The room was spacious.

Review 18:I asked for a smoking room, when arrived they told me ther is no one... when I told them that they confirmed they change my room to no 340- and told me to use a cap as an ashtray!!! the water in the toilette was a drizzle I asked that they will fix it- but nothing happend so I had to use the public toilette....

Review 19:Smoking room & Wi_Fi

Review 20:Staff sucks from reception to housekeeping. The dining room staff are all stuck up and are just busy making sure you're a resident on the hotel. Not even one person would accommodate the smallest request other than the chef that makes the owls.

Review 21:Location is good if you drive if you have to walk it would feel better if they would open an entrance from the highway side of the property.

Review 22:Lack of friendliness and rudeness of front desk staff. 3 times late at night both key cards didn't work in room door. No cards on door to not disturb us. we asked 3x's for one. front desk staff never provided. No clock or enough towels in room. Kleenex and coffee not replaced. Shower Plastic door inadequate to stop water from getting all over the floor. Curtains would be much better. Hallways were not air conditioned. No curtains in hallways made them extra hot during daytime hours. Only one way out of hotel if you wanted to walk in certain directions. Forced you to walk an extra 4 blocks to get where you wanted.

Review 23:Dining Staff and security the only ones who were friendly. Lobby and dining rooms were Nice looking and clean. Free drinks in lobby.

Review 24:only one thing: the smell from the area between the parking garage, and the elevator to the lobby.

Review 25:the front desk was always helpful and pleasant rooms always clean and comfortable great security...especially during times of terror threats good, attentive staff during meals. clean, safe parking close to light-train/taxis

Review 26:It's tired old tatty and we'll worn. That's all ok for the price but the service is very poor even by Israel standards. Food is okay. Cleanliness leaves a bit to be desired

Review 27:Location isnt bad. It's a big hotel and it was well priced

Review 28:- Isolated from shops (in case you want to buy water etc). - A noisy main road passing the hotel. We changed the room to a quieter one facing the inner courtyard. Changing the room was easy though. - A bit harassing taxi drivers always waiting outside the hotel entrance.

Review 29:- Good light train connection close by. - Short walk to the old town.

Review 30:The pool is NOT heated at all - really chilling. However, since it was really hot, it might be considered as positive as well. ;-)

Review 31:It's a nice hotel with large rooms and great beds. Great Breakfast, free parking and wifi. Near to the city. Ask for the inner rooms, pointing to the courtyard, and as high as possible - otherwise it might get noisy. Fast elevators, no problem here.

Review 32:the staff

Review 33:the meal

Review 34:Bathtub had mold on sides. No clock in room not even a night clock. Low ceilings.

Review 35:Staff were very nice

Review 36:My booking didn't come up in the system and i had to wait extra time till i got a room

Review 37:Front desk not to helpfull. Wifi didnt work. Very poor reception

Review 38:Food was great. Close walking distance to community i was visiting.

Review 39:Windows were so dirty I couldn't see out of them.

Review 40:Nice size room

Review 41:Wifi was unreliable for me.

Review 42:Breakfast is varied and plentiful.

Review 43:Should have more than one person on reception- often many people waiting.

Review 44:Location good. Breakfast was excellent.

Review 45:Very good location good value for the money

Review 46:Staff was really unpolite and rude. Hotel located far from the city center.

Review 47:Not cool enough in hot weather especially the hall ways

Review 48:Location is great and the staff are wonderful

Review 49:parking problems. pool isnt clean. reception behave not nice,

Review 50:breakfast

Review 51:The daily cleaning of the room was of a poor standard. On our last morning despite having a 'do not disturb' sign on our door a male cleaner knocked and entered the room without waiting for a response. The day before departure we asked reception to book us a shuttle to the airport. They were unable to do this as no answer from shuttle company. The next morning several hours before our departure we asked Bahaa who was on reception if he could arrange a shuttle for us. He was rude and unhelpful but willing to book us a taxi for 360 NIS. We ended up using public transport which was very straight forward and cost 30 NIS.

Review 52:We booked this hotel because it had a pool which we used every day. It had a life guard and was well maintained. The room was comfortable with good facilities. Hotel close to the Old City and light railway.

Review 53:management staff by breakfast were terrible and room cleaners knock and just come into the room they need better training.

Review 54:Nice hotel food was good and plentiful front desk staff tried very hard managers were definitely excellent.

Review 55:Probably that it was further from the Centre of Jerusalem than we had thought.

Review 56:Pleasantly surprised when we arrived. Lovely hotel and facilities. Most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. One or two were unhelpful if we had a query but they were very much in the minority. Food was excellent. Would recommend hotel

Review 57:I asked the food and beverage mgr. to place my table close to food counters since I am disabled He placed me at the end of the dining room 35 meters away When questioned he answered I gave you bigger table? He felt that this was a compensating remark

Review 58:nothing

Review 59:The bar service was poor as there were lengthy waits and even forgotten meal orders.

Review 60:The rooms were a very good size and were very clean. The food was excellent.

Review 61:No coffee/tea facilities in room

Review 62:Excellent location within easy walk to old city.Clean, comfortable rooms with friendly staff.Excellent food.Second time we stayed here and can recommend this hotel.

Review 63:poor internet service in the room, but was great in the lobby.

Review 64:great location to the Old City, and the staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful at all times. God bless you all!

Review 65:You indicated your preference for a double bed; settle for two single beds. You reserved a room for the view; I let you discover what the view means. Just picture it; it is on the opposite side. You try to turn on the light on the desk; the plug connecting to the light does not work. Please choose between having a light or charging your computer. You try to take a decaf coffee but all the packages are unreadable, good luck for you to guess which one is decaf, or maybe none is. You hope at least Internet works; it does not and it will not be working until late the other day, and sometimes it will, and often not. You try to pick up the phone, but do not know which button to push, just dial “o”; it will not work immediately but if you try many times, you might be lucky. When you explain the Internet does not work, the receptionist will not believe you, and say you are the first one to complain. The person who is supposed to fix it will work on it but not fix it. Suddenly it works but for one minute, be fast. When you tell the receptionist you have already spent one hour trying to connect and work, be ready to hear “Come and work in the lobby” and "Anyway Internet is free." The next day however, after spending one more hour waiting, the Internet will work, somehow, from time to time, especially from the bathroom. If you ask to change rooms, forget about it too. Maybe you want to go to the swimming pool in order to relax? It only opens between 10am and 6pm. If you like the noise of the cars passing by, you will hear it quite clearly. Get up in the morning and enjoy the breakfast room, a vast cafeteria full of bus tourists... When your nightmare starts, it will not stop and I nearly found it funny. It was hopeless. By the way, why do you not also pay for a superior room like me to enjoy the difference?

Review 66:Do you want an example of a memorable hotel? Please choose this one, you will not be disappointed. If you do not believe me, just try. It will be the ultimate test for your mastery of the "zen attitude". Read Seneca before your visit.

Review 67:To be arriving and after doing the check-in to inform us that they wereoverbooking and we had to stay in other hotel for 1 night. Although wewere very well treated it's not acceptable. If we are paying forservice we like to have it

Review 68:The comfort

Review 69:I did not like the stracture of the hotel, it had a long walk to the room. view was poor

Review 70:The hotel was clean, friendly and had nice rooms and good breakfast

Review 71:Unfriendly staff and bad attitude of staff - rooms were not cleaned up to spec at all and numerous items not working in the room were never attended to or sorted out even after being pointed out to the relevant staff.

Review 72:Free WiFi and the dinner and breakfast was good.

Review 73:Towels and linen could be better. No water bottles or mini bar. Room needed a good paint job and refreshing. But overall clean.

Review 74:Staff was friendly. Delicious breakfast buffet. Safe in the room.

Review 75:Summary:- Cockroach that went past me whilst I was waiting for my food at the bar- Taxi driver they allow in the hotel to try and make money out of you!! His name is Faisal. Avoid him!!Full stories:- When we arrived we were quite tired and hungry, so went to have a quick meal downstairs at the bar. As we were waiting for the food, a cockroach (not a joke!) went past us. That was the first sign this hotel was going to be interesting...- However, our biggest issue with this hotel was still to come. The next day we got a taxi AT THE HOTEL to go into town (it is not really necessary to get a taxi to go into town, but we were there with my parents, and my Dad is a not-very-mobile 70 year-old). As we drove away, we chatted and this driver, called Faisal, asked if we were thinking of visiting anywhere outside Jerusalem. We said "yes, maybe...", as we had just arrived and hadn't discussed this yet. So he said "instead of going into town today, I could take you to Bethlehem today, and then tomorrow you go into town". I translated this to my Dad and he seemed keen to go and visit Bethlehem. He said his price was a lot better than the hotel's, and we did check the price at the hotel, so we knew this was true. Ok, so we thought "Let's do this". We confirmed the price, and my husband said "And there won't be any extra costs once we are there?" His answer: "No, there won't". To cut a story short, the guide in Bethlehem (obviously his partner in crime) was supposed to only receive a tip at the end, whatever we wanted to give him, but at the end he told my Dad (when no one else was around) it was a minimum of US$ 100. My Dad paid him and we only found out about this later on. Now, this is far from being the end of the story. After we visited the Church of Nativity (where Jesus was born), they said we were now going to have some sacred wine somewhere... Guess where this was? At a souvenir shop!

Review 76:staff at front desk were not always very helpful, some are good andsme not. als the front desk should be staffed to hadle the volumes of people and it was not on many occassions

Review 77:Good choices at Breakfast

Review 78:Not a four star hotel (old furniture, lobby etc) for sure. the Staff at the reception (someone called Bahaa) was exceptionally rude, to the extent that he was taking other calls while we were talking to him. Wifi was not working almost throughout our stay and fellow guests told us to go to the next door hotel to get connected.

Review 79:Food was good at the bar, breakfast had fantastic choices.

Review 80:We didn't like, that we were told in the reception that dinner would start at 20.30, and when we came at 21.00 it was already closed. - The WIFI didn't work most of the time. It seemed to work sometimes in the lobby, but not in the room - Impossible to park at the hotel parking in the weekend (too many cars).

Review 81:- Great breakfast. - Ok location for walking or taking the "tram" to the old city (the hotel also has a shuttle service).

Review 82:The reception staff were awful: smug, a bit arrogant and incompetent. The restaurant staff was the sweetest and most helpful.

Review 83:The breakfast was amazing, the rooms were good/alright and the location was good, close to Damascus gate and the train.

Review 84:Service wasn't special for example i asked in the morning for a towel i got it an hour after... (when i was already out of the shower)

Review 85:Very clean, food was delicious,

Review 86:We made our reservation as bed and breakfasts guests. When we spoke to reservations before arrival, they assured us that we could add meals to the reservation at the reception desk upon arrival. At check in, we requested to add meals, but they insisted we could only pay for the extra meals after we ate them. Then every time we wanted to go into the dining room for a non-breakfast meal, the staff would give us such a hard time and were rude and unaccommodating. Apart from this, the hotel is set up for large groups. On the weekends it was packed full of groups and families with noisy children - not a very relaxing atmosphere for someone looking for a relaxing place to spend their time.

Review 87:wi-fi didn't work, breakfast until 9.30; no terrace for smoking; no mini-bar (even no frigde); the hotel is focused on groups not individual tourists

Review 88:rich breakfast; free parking

Review 89:Not near any restaurants. It took two days.and several phone calls to get the air conditioner fixed. Staff was not helpful or correct regarding restaurants

Review 90:Breakfast was excellent. Cloe to the tram

Review 91:Parking ticket for parking across the road because garage was full, carpets needed a good clean

Review 92:Great breakfast buffet, wonderful pool for boiling afternoons, Friday night dinner buffet, be sure to book for it. Location awesome

Review 93:staff very unfriendly and did nothing to assist us in our stay.made no effort to assist with our problems. not well located. not near the light rail as stated, there is a 10 minute walk at least. not near any amenities or any local sights. transport need to get anywhere. will never saty here again

Review 94:staff very unfriendly. not well located far from all shopping and amenities.nor close to light rail as stated . at least a 10 minute walk to station

Review 95:new modern looking hotel

Review 96:There was no Internet or wifi availible for most the stay Short pool andgym hours The gym closed early one day for no reason .frustrating Therewas no parking most of the time and I expected parking. Needed to readthe small print of all the facilities Poor quality morning coffeespoiling the excellent breakfast

Review 97:Good location Swimming pool Gym

Review 98:It doesn't have a small store where you can buy a toothbrush, for example. The staff at the desk were of no help. They just don't care if you need something, specially if you don't know the language, they were not helpful. They didn't know English so they couldn't understand what I was asking for.

Review 99:The size of the room was ok and the food was amazing. The breakfast had a variety of foods which was very good.

Review 100:Not enough sunbeds for the pool, just chairs which are very uncomfortable.

Review 101:Excellent location for visiting the Old City just a few minutes walk away to the Damascus Gate. Big and spacious hotel which was very clean and comfortable. Lovely pool on the roof.

Review 102:Hotel is a bit soulless. One of the main reasons I chose the hotel was that it advertised a fitness centre. They dont advertise that it is only open for 3.5 hrs/day and only in the pm making it virtually useless. The wifi while free was patchy

Review 103:Breakfast was good. Staff helpful. Location good very close to the light rail which was a big bonus for me

Review 104:Nothing.

Review 105:This hotel was fabulous. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The location was great. The rooms were clean, modern and very comfortable.

Review 106:Non functioning WiFi in room which was a nuisance.

Review 107:Everything with the exception of WiFi in the room was just so efficient . Just right and good value. I am in Jerusalem at least twice a year and that has been the case for over forty years and this will now be my fist choice.car park was an important factor.

Review 108:The arrangement of hotel rooms are placed like a U shape and we were put into rooms at the extreme dead end of the U shape and so we had to walk a long way to the other end to get to lobby and other amenities.

Review 109:Free wifi and good food

Review 110:Behaviour of staff in the hotel was inapropriate, tehy were not supportive, ignoring requests, impolied. Fitness center is opened from 4-8 only and pool from 10-6, so in fact you are substantially limited to use it.

Review 111:It is good location

Review 112:Windows on the ninth floor where we stayed were very dirty, so I can't give this hotel an excellent on cleanliness. Inside the room was fine. Otherwise, it was a very nice hotel.

Review 113:The front desk staff need to be trained on hospitality & courtesy. They're cold & unfriendly.

Review 114:The comfort & cleanliness of room. The dining room staff & kitchen chefs/staff were wonderful.

Review 115:wifi

Review 116:We r a frum couple staying at this place the 2nd time we loved it its everything u can expect from a hotel the only weak thing is the wifi its not worth a bit other wise you will like it! We did...

Review 117:room was poorly cleaned (no vacuum used...) and most of the staff was not helpful, not knowing or giving any answers to simple questions that tourists ask like how can we rent a car or how can we go and visit Galilee, for example.

Review 118:breakfast was really very good.

Review 119:Not easy to get coffee or tea at breakfast. It was annoying that Passover cleaning had been done 5 days early and we had no bread at breakfast or pasta on the bar menu.

Review 120:Good service, quiet rooms with big beds, convenient location, free secure parking.

Review 121:Breakfast is below average. The location is close to old town and city centre, but on a big and noisy road - you hear the cars in your room.

Review 122:Clean, spacious room.

Review 123:The location is close to old town, but also next to noisy, big road. You can hear the cars if your room faces the road. Rooms are already older. Breakfast not very good.

Review 124:Clean

Review 125:Very long walk from the lift to the hotel rooms on the side (you will think meh what a whinger until you go there and you will be like are how much farther is the room are we almost there ?) Wireless internet is a necessitty these days rather than a luxury an the internet here is both slow and the wifi hotspots seem to keep dropping in and out.

Review 126:Underground carpark. Breakfast is ok but you would expect that for the price

Review 127:Like it very much, near to the old city Damascas Gate, within 5 to 10 minutes walk distence. There is a train station nearby, you can go to the new city and centre bus station easily. The rooms are new, clean and big. Staffs are helpful. Breakfast is very good, many choices.

Review 128:The staff at the reception little bit rude sometimes. The hotel does not tell about check out time in shabat ( Saturday) : 5 p.m. instead of 11 a.m. - the guest must know it.

Review 129:Very excelent hotel. Confortable, very good food. Room ok,large , clean. Shuttle free to the Old City during the day. I recommend.

Review 130:No Parking facillities on sabath, Bar Closes at 11,

Review 131:Nice 4*Hotel, Big Roms, very clean, very Good huge breafast buffet, very near to the Old City, free Parking Garage,

Review 132:Kids running wild in the Lobby from a large Arab family the whole timewe were there!!!!! Impossible to enjoy the public areas

Review 133:Great breakfast Buffett, comfortable rooms, free parking and wifi, goodlocation; gift shop has good prices and nice people

Review 134:Nothing really. Ordinarily, we would choose to stay in a smaller, moreintimate hotel (such as the ymca Jerusalem, which is closer to the OldCity), but this hotel and location were just fine. Water from the showertended to end up on the bathroom floor, because the glass door in theshower (actually a bathtub) was not big enough, and only extended half-way down the bathtub.

Review 135:This large hotel is well-located, within 15 minutes' walk of the OldCity walls and the Rockefeller Archaeological Museum. The city tram runsnearby, and the #99 tourist bus stop is also close to the hotel. Thebreakfasts were excellent, with a wide range of hot and cold dishes.Given the enormous size of the dining room and the large number ofguests having breakfast at the same time, the staff had to carry outtheir tasks of topping up the food, cleaning up tables after guests haddeparted, andpreparing them for the next lot of users, with militaryprecision. The tv offers a good range of channels, including bbc, France24, and msnbc.

Review 136:washing gel missing in the bathroom, instead gave us bubble bath; very slow WIFI, at the evening almost doesn´t work, when is a lot of guest connected, 6 PC at lobby, only 2 connected to the internet, very poor lobby bar - 50% of the drinks menu we didn´t get because they lack such as tomato juice, vermouth ... ; 2nd day electricity power failure, lazy staff. Too expensive for those services, 3 nights were enough and quick went out

Review 137:Good location, 10 minutes walk to the old town, a variety of breakfast, swimming pool, big underground parking, free WIFI - if it works

Review 138:Internet was stopped for the sabbath and no hot food was provided during sabbath

Review 139:The ambience at the hotel was great with a very good variety of meals and drinks

The Fine Print

Based on local tax laws, Israeli citizens must pay VAT (Value-Added Tax). This tax is not automatically calculated in the total of the reservation, and must be paid at the hotel upon arrival.
